Hi
I 've just upgraded to russian firmware for Galaxy A5 using Odin. Everything worked fine but the wifi calling option is missing.
Have anybody encountered this problem yet? Any way to fix it?
Thanks.
Flash your old firmware...

I had the same problem with watsapp, I only had access to voice calls, I solved the problem in the following way:
Open the application as if you are passing a call, you select a contact then you press the three points to the right hand corner, then choose view contact, you will open the option to make a video call.
It's very simple, I could do screnns if you want. You will do the same for all contacts and the turn is played, no need to flash anything.

He's talking about wifi calling, not video calling. I think it's missing cause it's not yet introduced in Russia, that's only a guess though. Back when I bought my phone, it didn't have that either, but a later software update added it. Until the Russian firmware gets it too, you probably can't use it on nougat. (unless the region you're in launches the nougat update too)
I was thinking on the same thing, that wifi calling is not implemented in Russia. Probably I'll wait for Nougat release in other countries and flash the firmware again.

Hi,
Does anyone have the same problem as I do where it is not possible to do video calls? The option (as stated in the manual) can not be seen anywhere on my phone. Just wondering if it is something that is disabled in the ROM, and how to fix this issue?
ROM Version - 1.12.531.2 (49169) WWE
Radio - 3.44.25.17
Protocal Version - 61.24t.25.17U
Have you checked the toggle located at the bottom left of the dialer when you open the phone app?
When I press the button you mentioned, it would bring up call history page rather than toggle into video call mode. Forgot to mention though, my TP2 has T-Mobile logo all over it so it may not be generic?
Thanks for the reply!

I believe u don't have the front facing camera? If that's the case, then u won't have that function (cuz most of the companies remove the second camera and I don't remember whether T-mobile is one of them or not)

are you located in the United states or in europe?
Thanks for all your replies. I was deeply worried at first fearing that I may not have the second camera. It was a big relief to have finally found the second camera alive and working, which is making me thinking the ROM had the video call function disabled. Does any one know if T-Mobile in the US supports video call?
For all who are interested, I got mine from Asia and had asked for a English version rather than a Chinese version. What I got was a non-branded TP2 with what appeared to be a fully customised T-Mobile USA ROM. (Perhaps confirming that it will be available in the US?) The ROM version appeared to be quite old compared to others that are out there though.
I can not wait for the Hard SPL to flash mine to see if I can get the video call going, and perhaps getting rid of all the T-Mobile settings on the phone as I am in Australia.
Crikey so you're in Australia with an Asian TP2 running an American ROM?
Sounds like a recipe for disaster! Looks like your stuck til someone breaks the HSPL barrier.
same here
I got my TP2 in Taiwan (as I live in Taipei ) and they put the english Tmobile ROM in. Phone has both cameras (front/rear) but no option so I'm looking as well how to get it working.
I also got a problem with MMS (did all the phone company Chunghwa settings) but I can only receive MMS and I cannot send (it tries but stays in outbox).
Trying to figure out if there's a registry to fix these things.
Hi, I got my Butterfly 3 yesterday.
It had an old tampered (without "au" stuff) KDDI ROM that wouldn't update so I flashed to a more recent one, rooted, flashed the GPS fix and disabled/uninstalled all the "au" stuff. The phone is now working great except for a few things that are very annoying, and I'd like to know if the Taiwan version doesn't have the same problems:
1 - Can't seem to find a way to select 2G, 3G or 4G mode. My previous One M7 had that option under "mobile data". Here it's completely gone (what the hell? it's the first phone I've ever seen without this..).
This is especially bad because I can't seem to be able to enable LTE (the phone's bands are supported in my country). Since I can't try to force "4G only" in the phone, there's no way to know if there's a problem with my APN configuratin (which I had to input manually.. for the first time ever on a smartphone), if there's a problem with the antenna, or if my SIM card simply doesn't have 4G enabled. Does the Taiwan version have the "force 4G" option?
2 - I've added the country code to almost all my contacts (+351) in order to be able to call them whenever I was abroad. The phone won't detect any contact that has a "+" in the number, so the person's name doesn't appear. Same thing with SMS: if there's a "+" in the number, I can't reply to the sms or send new ones. Is there a way to overcome this with the KDDI ROM? Does the Taiwan ROM have this problem too?
I'm split between "upgrading" to the Taiwan Marshmallow or keeping the KDDI one.
To be honest, I'd rather stay with Lollypop if it means getting usable NFC. On the other hand, if the Taiwan ROM fixes the problems mentioned above then I'll say goodbye to NFC.
I fixed it by having two numbers on one person. So you got the number with the country code(+...) and the number without country code(for me: 06....).
As for the problem with the settings, I can't find it either :/
Maybe the option is just hidden away, but I never use mobile data.
I've been in your shoes

I'm in the states , but calling both and texts has been fine. (I had a damaged SIM couldn't send texts)
If you really want japan's au bloat that even with a pro root uninstaller still leaves grime just to keep NFC, I have a solution for you to get data.
P.S.You need root for any real fixes like this one
use es file explorer and turn on root read write permissions, it'll ask when you use the left side panel to access system directory.
Use search to find apn-config.xml
Replace file with one from cyanogenmod rom or any phone you have.
Data should now work. To fix SMS uninstall it, clear out its folder and install any HTC text messaging app and place apk in folder. (then clear cache)
Also, update as much as possible before rooting, b/c its a bootloader unlock and this phone has not bootloader update with marshmallow you can always root with twrp.
Private message me with any questions I'll respond asap. I'm no developer (despite my attempts linux hates me), but I know my way around the average android device and have kept up with everything for this one.
(Taiwan has no gps issues, uninstallable bloatware, nor apn/4g problems)

Are you absolutely sure that uninstalling sms.apk and clean the cache solved the problem for you. I tried that long time but didn't work for me. Which APK did you uninstall ? providers.apk, sms.apk or mms.apk ?
I don't have GPS, 4G issues on Japan version, the only problem is SMS "+" resolution.

Hi guys
Please help! I am a few days into my OnePlus 3 ownership and for most part I'm loving it! I have been a Nexus owner since the 4, with my last device being the 6P (unfortunately just a little too big to keep) and wanted a near vanilla OS device with great hardware in the form factor.
Besides the known bugs with Oxygen OS and the outdated phone apk which I wish had call blocking and local search/caller ID - any suggestions for a solution? The real issue for me is I get no voice responses to any of my OK Google voice commands. I am running the oxygen OS 3.2.1 update.
I only get responses in the browser / on screen. This is regardless of the command, what's the weather , what's the time in Tokyo etc or set a reminder, send a text to ... etc
Now I have done the following to troubleshoot:
1) Checked all related settings (speech output on etc)
2) Tried both uk and us English and ensured languages had been downloaded
3) Factory reset and tried again from restoring Google account
4) Factory reset and tried as a new phone with no Google account
Whatever I do there is no voice response. I will note during Google maps use if I ask a question I get a response.
OnePlus support offer nothing but an RMA which of course is probably no the solution it must be a setting or a software bug.
Can fellow owners check if they have the same issue and if they have a solution, kindly share it?
Many thanks
Facing same issue but no solution yet

Thanks for responding Adpbtn! Really hope a member has a solution to this
My first op3 was defective. Same issues with the mic. (besides phone calling)
Don't waste your time guys., you have to return device.
Sorry.
I think it only works on Google launcher home screen and any screen while phone is on (if activated under settings). It will not work while screen is off. Correct? Or are you referring to something different?

Thanks for this, to be clear are you saying you had the same problem, voice commands via 'OK Google' were working but the response was only on screen? But your replacement phone works fine and you get audio responses/'OK Google' talks back?

Thanks for your response, I am referring to the fact the phone doesn't talk back. No voice response when asked a question. 'OK Google' works from any screen when the phone is on (and you choose the setting) but whatever you do the answer or response is on screen only, no answers are spoken back.
I have the exact same issue, it was working when I received the phone. But since 4-5 days it has stopped responding back, it just shows the answers on screen.
Good to know that I am not the only one facing this problem. I hope it is just a software bug and will be fixed soon.
i am saddened because of this as well! I used to ask Google Now about the weather, time, to set the alarm and the talk-back is a great feature to
me, just that now my OP3 has lost this capability !!! I've already googled for a while, a few are questioning same problem but no resolution!
Wow, it got fixed automatically after so many days. I was just setting a reminder and it replied with voice, so I tested other commands too, like weather, time and other stuff. It is working properly for me now, please check if it's fixed for you too. (I didn't update to 3.2.2 yet)
I've had this phone for almost a week and have had the same issues. Tried clearing cache, reinstalling Google, changing settings and nothing worked. All of sudden it started talking back to me yesterday. So there is hope.

Hi FateWeaver, I updated to 3.22 and this is now fixed!!! That's the solution guys at least it was for me, install the oxygen os 3.22 update! So happy OnePlus are delivering fixes so quickly!
I've got unlocked Note 10+ and I flashed the U firmware because of video calling that's missing on U1. Now I found that on T Mobile version there is no Smart Call and it is replaced by T Mobile NameID, which I consider inferior and I'd have to pay for full functionality.
Anybody knows if there is any way how to get the stock Samsung dialer with Smart Call back? I'd hate to flash the U1 ROM and go through the restore process again. Even with Samsung cloud, Google and SD backups it took me almost half day to get it set as I had it before.

My past experience with Samsung Smart Call, was that i found that even though, its baked into Samsung Firmware, it is Service Provider depended. to "activate /work".
I might be wrong, but i personally believe so, based on my experience.
Just to recap, my experiences with my old Note 8 and my Note 9 (both devices not rooted)
I also flashed Stock Samsung firmware .. different CSC onto these devices.
I found on both occasions i lost the function of th Smart Call.
( Hiya services), also Volte function etc etc.
I could see the Smart Call settings in firmware, but it was greyed out.
Could not enable it at all.
When i flashed my old Samsung Firmware (Service Provider CSC) Smart Call (Hiya services), was enabled again and working.
I'm sure in your case, you'll will find it's Service Provider depended.
Good luck.

The thing is, after I purchased and set up the phone on stock Samsung firmware, VoLTE and Smart Call worked perfectly fine. But stupid me wanted to try the video calling. I found that the video calling is not different than Google Duo and I will NEVER use RTT texts. I see no real advantage from using T Mo firmware in comparison with stock Samsung (provisioned for T Mo of course)
Actually quite the opposite. For me, the signal strength and battery life is practically the same on both and again, FOR ME Smart Call is much more useful than video call and RTT.
If anyone knows any benefits from keeping T Mo firmware over stock, please enlighten me. I really don't want to go through the flashing the whole thing and restoring dance again, but I'm afraid I will have to.

Ha, your post reminds me,
that when i flashed
my branded Samsung Firmware ( Voda CSC) with the Samsung unbranded Firmware,
The reason, was also to get video calling working.
As my branded device did not have video calling option on dialer.
I could only activate video, if someone else, video called me... only then the video option, would appear.!
I then afterwards, realized that i lost my Smart Call functions. and flashed back to the branded software.
This was on my Note 9.
So i had no video call option on dialer ,but Smart Call.
Now...
again, with my branded( Voda CSC) Note 10 +,
i see that my device has video calling on dial pad.....!
So, the Service Providers, chop and changed.
A year back, they disabled video calling option, from dial pad.
Now video calling is back on the dial pad plus Smart Calls is working fine.
Good luck
So.... I bit the bullet and flashed back the U1 firmware. The only thing I lost is the video calling. I still have RTT button on my dialer. Whether it works or not I haven't tried yet. I know it wasn't there on the original dialer when I purchased the phone. Maybe because I didn't flash USERDATA? Who knows.
I'm happy I've got Smart Call back.
CSC N975U
Good afternoon, I have the n975u model, my question is what firmware should I install, to get the smart call and video calls by duo?. Or is csc the one that has these functions active?
Thanks!!
excuse my english, google translator.
I have a Verizon Note10+ running Android 11 (3.1) I paid my cell off 4 mo ago. Verizon confirmed for me that my cell is carrier unlocked. I've tried everything to get the Smart Call app on my phone to work. The only thing I haven't tried is rooting it cause I don't know how. I have 3 versions of the apk and can't make them work. Can anyone help?
Hi guys, first of all, im currently running one ui 5 android 13
I have tried a lot of apps to record phone calls and every time the recorded audio sound is blank
I have seen that this is due to google politics or something, do u know how can i record it.
I want to be able to record it because several people have told me they stop listening to me properly during phone calls, but i listen to them good. Its not problem of my SIM because in other phones i dont have that problem and samsung technical support already "fixed my phone", i even sent them my phone so they would fix it.
Im pretty dissapointed with this phone.
Any suggestions of how can i record a phone call or even better, if u know any solution of my problem with the calls? Thanks!
The easiest solution is to use native samsung call recording. You can use this method, worked for me as well: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ith-galaxy-a52s-solved.4423477/#post-86660135
I chose XID as well. When downloading new ROM to extract HOME_CSC from, be sure to download the same version, e.g. A528BXXS1DVL2 for A13 with December 2022 security patch, you can find the version in "software update" in settings as the first string after "current version".
