Hi everyone,
I have a Lumia 930 running on W10M (no idea what build) and it won't boot up. When I press the power button, the phone vibrates and a Nokia logo lights up for about 30-60 seconds, but then it just turns off. If I try to plug it to my laptop, the Nokia logo shows up for only about 10 seconds and it goes into a boot loop. The only way how to prevent the phone from endless restarting is to hold volume up and switch it into a recovery mode. It's not possible to soft or hard reset the phone using key combinations.
I don't know what bricked my phone, the battery just discharged completely one day and I can't turn it on since. I tried replacing the battery but it made no difference. I didn't try to install any tweak or anything like that, it just messed itself up.
The thing is that I didn't back up some pictures I really don't want to lose
Is there any way how to extract data from the phone? I know that Windows Device Recovery Tool would most likely make the phone work again, but then all data is wiped out...
Thanks for any suggestions.
take SIM card out
connect to charger and wait few hours
press Volume down and Power key until vibrate and release keys
if nothing helps, only way to restore phone is WDRT but you can kiss goodbye pictures and data from phone... next time use OneDrive (or any other cloud) for backup if phone dont have SD card... i loose my pictures to few years ago and now no chance to use phone without backup
In theory, the only way to get your files back is disassemble the logic board, desolder the emmc and solder it to a SD Card reader, then connect it to PC.
Internal storage is placed in MainOS\Data\Users\Public.
However, it's really difficult for a normal person to use that trick, and you can't get your files back if you turned on the device encryption.
Or... If there's a hack for Lumia x3x released like WP Internals did on Lumia x2x, you can enter Mass Storage mode directly instead of risky desolder emmc.

I tried to make an update with the file JASJAR_WWE_11353_137_10301
Suddenly the Display stop et 99% of the extended Rom Update and on my monitor was an infomation like "an error happend"
After this, nothing else happend .
Yes, realy nothing happens anymore. I cant start the device not with power, not with reset or with power+reset
nothing nothing nothing
What can i do
If i start to try a new update, it schows me no information about what rom etc. is installed or what will be installed. if i then start i get the notice, that it is the wrong device.
Help me please. ist there any way to put the mda back to live?????
I guess i dont only need an update but the complete software
HELP!!!
I have the exact same issue after the upgrade. Nothing will happen. I spent several hours trying resets, combination of button pressed, removed battery, resets, just to try to get back the boot loader mode but nothing is happening.
there has to be a way to do this and I hope someone on this board had that issue before and got it resolved.
I had a similair issue with my old XDA II, it turned out my storage card was corrupted. Use a card reader to check your storage card is OK, perhaps format the storage card (having saved any data first of course) and see how you fare
Have had the same problem wirh a radio ROM update on my QTEK9000. The anly thin that still worked was the hard reset. After the hard reset the device still did not respond. But when i connected it to the PC I could start the updateprocess of the original ROM. I took about 20 minutes for the whole procedure and than the Qtek9000 was back in factory default (Pffff and I could breath again).
So perhaps you can try a hard rest and then connect aganin to the PC.
I allready tried this!
But nothing happens.
Even if i put the power device or the usb into the mda, no LED schows anything. just sometimes the LED is red for not more than a minute. if it then goes out, i get the message "Unknown usb device" in my PC
Are you in bootloeader mode? Do you see the words USB or Serial on the screen of the Universal in Portrait mode. Note: Backlight is off so you have too look real hard, but it should be there
no, i see nothing.
I had quite a hard time yesterday while upgrading. The bootloader is very hard to see, use a torch to lite up your display. In portrait view on the top should be the word serial or usb, on the bottom v1.00.
I also did a hard-reset in this stage, but it just returned to the bootloader menue.
If I connect to the PC and the device is recognized I see the word serial in the display change to USB. For me I do not know the reason but my PC did not want to fulfill the upgrade process. Needed to take another PC (Laptop) to solve the problem. After the upgrade of the ROM, You still need to upgrade the Radio (this was my experience) before a cold-reset will put You back to business.
Good luck.

Having the exact same problem as gary_b and having performed quite a few upgrades, I can confirm there is absolutlely nothing on the screen. The unit will not go into bootloader mode or even able to do a hard reset. It is not recognized when plugged in the USB.
When connected to power and the hard reset procedure is done, the red charging light will come up for less than 1/2 seconds and disappear.
I tried all different combination to make it boot but nothing. If I could at least get it to bootloader more, I can revive it.
Feel very bad I cannot help here.
I was wondering Yesterday about one thing. IF, during all this upgrading process, the battery runs out, (as it does not seem to charge during upgrade process) will it show bootloader screen ?
Would it be possible to get a loaded battery from somebody to check yours ?
That is a good suggestion to try out, but I have been unable to find anyone that has that device. It might be simply a drained battery.
Mine got corrupted I think at the end of the upgrade right after I did a regular reset instead of teh power and reset procedure.
However, I would think that even with no battery in, the unit should power back up when plugged in no?
Maybe an idea for somebody who is doing upgrading now, and is in bootloader status anyway.
Take out the battery, but connect with USB to PC with ASync. Does the bootloader state show ?
I am sorry to not do it for myself, if You saw my desperate state Yesterday, You will believe that I am not willing to see that bootloader screen for some time, sorry.

now i know what to do:
Nothing!!
I went to a service-point with my mda pro and there was nothing to do with it.
If this happens the complete memory is "killed". Like "format c:" and while format is running you switch out the power.
Thanks god: I got a new MDA pro because i did not tell them (in the store)that i tried an update!
But i called the service-line before anf they told me that there is nothing to do!
But thx
Wow, can't say that this is good informatuin for those with this problem, but very glad it worked out for You.
I ve had this problem 5 minutes ago. Finally a took out the battery. Then connect to AC and Red led is on. Then i put the battery, tried hard reset and message to confirm hard reset in the screen (wellcome to life, jasjar). Then i run radio update again and it's upgrading rigth now....buffffff
I almost suffered a heart attack when this happened an hour ago. Have found that the update works fine if the SD card is taken out... phew.
When i enter recovery mode ADB will not list my phone, it lists it just fine however when my phone is on.. anyone have a idea?
I know it sounds stupid but make sure you have debugging mode on. Also when you mount your device (while its turned on) select the sync mode on your phone. I had to do that and then just play with it while loop is running pull the battery while usb is still plugged in and then power back on while holding volume down. I had to do that over and over and it eventually caught it.
I have debugging mode on, and while it is turned on and mounted as a disk drive ADB will recognize it. Ill try switching it to sync instead of disk drive.
Yeah it should recognize while in disk drive mode but it did not for me one time until I switched to sync. Could have just been a weird fluke but maybe not.
So you switched it to sync instead and while it was trying to sync you pull the battery out and hold the volumn down and the power button then put the battery back in? it will not catch it when i do this!
Not exactly. I switched it to sync and then let it do its thing for a minute. Then I powered off started running loop and powered back into recovery. Your computer shoukd make a little beep sound and the loop might hang up a bit when recovery loads. I then took the battery cover off and pulled the battery (loop still running and usb still plugged into phone) then hold vol down and put the battery back in. It will load into the boot loader from there you select recovery. I had to do that about a dozen times and finally it just caught on and showed my device in the loop as recovery.
Ill try this and post what happens thank you !
So far no luck, my computer will confirm that the phone is connected (by playing the sound confirmation) however it does not seem to be catching within windows or ADB
A thought occurred to me about this ... A couple people have said that it started working for them when they had a new/freshly installed microSD card in their phone. The card that comes pre-installed in the phone has doubletwist on it, including an autorun file. I noticed that until I removed these things from the memory card, Windows was identifying the card as "Media sync powered by doubletwist" or some crap like that. I took all that junk off and it started identifying it as just "Removable Disk." Now, I took off all this before I tried the rooting process, so I don't know if it would've caused any problems. Could it be that this has something to do with it? It doesn't seem likely to me, but I thought I'd mention it.
At any rate, try a new or freshly formatted SD card, see if that helps.
Restarting over and over again finally made it work. now have a fully rooted slide.
Just curious did you restart you phone or your computer over and over again?
I was trying to flash the new version of EnergyROM and when i ran a task29 i accidently left my SIM card and SD card in. I loaded it to the bootloader screen and it was saying USB on the phone but my computer wasnt recognizing it so i went and bought a card reader and tried flashing from the SD card and now its stuck on a black screen with the red light in the corner always on. the phone wont turn on and the light only comes on when its plugged in. please please help me i just bought this phone 2-3 weeks ago and didnt get insurance.
Generally, if it is bricked, it won't turn on or just constantly reboot. You can access bootloader mode by hitting the down volume key while holding the soft reset button.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7807988&postcount=3
that what it seems to be doing, ive run task 29 twice and tried to reinstall the ROM that worked earlier today and it just loads up to the BRGD ATT world phone screen and acts like it wants to boot up and then just goes back to the black screen any ideas on why?
This thread is mostly for the E980 but will help all others as much as possible.
Please be sure to follow all steps!!! If you would like help, please be courteous to all on this thread. Thanks

Long story short...I hard bricked my phone by flashing a rom for the wrong phone. Phone would not boot at all. No signs of life. When plugged into the computer...I noticed a driver being installed (Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008). A quick search...and a few forums later...I knew for sure my phone was bricked.
Here's what you will need:
MicroSD card
MicroSD card reader
Linux (I used Ubuntu) and Windows
Patience
_________________________________________
Here is what I did...In Windows
1 - Download your stock firmware for your phone. I have an e980...so my file would be one that ends in .tot...most other Optimus G Pro phones have stock files that end with .kdz (search XDA)
2 - Download http://d-h.st/naQWindowsLGFirmwareExtract-1.2.1.0-Release.zip - 1.33 MB. This will work on both .kdz and .tot files.
3 - Open WindowsLGFirmware and locate your stock firmware. A list of files will show up. Click on the boxes on the left of the name of the file for the following...SBL1.bin, SBL2.bin, SBL3.bin, aboot.bin, rpm.bin, tz.bin, backupGPT.bin, recovery.bin, persist.bin, modem.bin, misc.bin, boot.bin and PrimaryGPT.bin.
4 - Then click on "Extract.tot" (or Extract.kdz). Extracted files will be in the same folder at the WindowsLGFirmare.
5 - The PrimaryGPT.bin file now has to be written to the MicroSD card. I used http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/files/latest/downloadWin32DiskImager.
The rest of the files, put on a usb stick for now.
Once that is done...boot into your Linux Distro(I installed Ubuntu due to permissions needed in the following steps)
6 - Once booted into Linux, have your sd card in the card reader and plugged into your computer...go to Terminal and type ls /dev/sd*
(You should see something like this.../dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5
/dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdb3 /dev/sdb4
/dev/sdb5 .......... /dev/sdb36
7 - Next...in terminal type sudo gdisk -l /dev/sdb
You will see a list with columns for Number, Start, End, Size, Code and Name.
You must match the number on the list with the files you downloaded earlier in Windows. Write down the number in the number column for each of those files. (Example: SBL1 for me was number 2)
Now transfer the files on the usb stick that you downloaded earlier in windows to your linux desktop.
8 - Now in Terminal type sudo -i
Then type dd if=/the location of the file/name of file.bin of=dev/sbd(now type the number that your file was on the list)
This is what mine looked like dd if=/home/ricanares/Desktop/aboot.bin of=/dev/sdb5
You must do this for every file downloaded from our stock firmware(except for PrimaryGPT.bin)
9 - Now reboot back into Windows. Insert the sd card into your phone. Plug the phone into the USB port. For me, the soft keys lit up, which made me feel closer to recovering my phone. At this step, not much happened for me for at least 10 minutes. Then while plugged into the usb port and while sd card was still in phone...my battery fell out (didn't have the battery door on). Put the battery right back in...and the LG boot screen came on.
10 - Finally...remove battery while the sd card is still inserted. While holding down the volume keys, plug the phone back into the usb cable and now you should be in download mode. Now follow the guide found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660 and your phone should be back to stock in minutes.
_________________________________________
If phone does not go into Download Mode...try volume up and power or volume down and power. Another thing to try if this doesn't work for you...in step 8...instead of using your stock firmware recovery.img...search xda for a cwm or twrp image to flash. Just rename it to recovery.img.
Good luck to all. Hopefully I wrote this guide clear enough. This is my first ever!!! I finally got my hard bricked phone working and had to share the news. After trying to fix this for the past 2 days...I am off to bed. If you wish to buy me a beer...PM me. Thanks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guide was made for the LG Optimus G Pro E980 but may work for all other variations.
For me, when it only lights up for a split second when I remove the battery. My battery is at 100% (tested on my other device) and I can't do anything with the device. I've waited a bit and nothing has happened. I have not seen the backlights turn on except for when I remove the battery.
edit: could you link the stock firmware that you used?
edit2: when i use my empty battery, it lights up, but it disconnects/turns off every ~3 seconds. It may be because this battery is defective, but did this happen to you?

I rebricked my phone to see exactly what I should tell you...here's what I did...When the soft key lights came on...i left the phone plugged into my computer for 10 minutes. Then disconnected the phone...held down both volume keys and plugged in the usb cord...it then booted to download mode where I was able to continue to the link on step 10.(Try this a few times)
The stock firmware i used..i found here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420219 Right under where it says "I am aware about my links..." there is a link...click it and download these 2 files LGE980AT-00-V20g-ATT-US-APR-28-2014.zip.htm and LGE980_20130314_LGFLASHv151.dll
I had originally also thought my battery was defective...but it was fine. As long as the battery has a decent amount of charge...you should be set. Keep me updated. Good luck
Few questions..
When you use the imager to write PrimaryGBT.bin to the MicroSD card, does it then seem "corrupt" to Windows and asks to reformat it?
Also, simply after sticking the MicroSD card into your phone and plugging it in (w/ battery) the soft keys just light up? And did they stay lit up even when not connected to the computer? This didn't happen for me with my full battery.
And one you didn't answer: with my empty battery it the soft keys light up, but they turn off and disconnect from my computer every ~3 seconds; did this happen to you?

Thank you for your tutorial... I managed to get the 'unbrick microSD', but my phone keeps being undetected by my pc. The two soft key lights simply flashed on and then came off again in 1 second or less... Does your phone keep the lights on when connected in that manner?
To be sure if I followed your steps correctly:
1 - Battery: inserted; microSD: inserted; phone plugged-in -> soft key lights ON
2 - Wait 10 minutes
3 - Remove battery and put it back in again without disconnecting the phone;
4 - LG bootscreen should appear;
5 - Disconnect the phone and connect it again pressing the volume keys.
6 - Download mode should be back
Is that right?

The image writer did show that the MicroSD card needed to be reformatted...so it does seem corrupted only because of the flashed .bin file. But does not need to be reformatted till the phone is fully back up and running.
The soft keys did light up for me only after I flashed it with all files onto the MicroSD card in the steps I listed above. Did not stay lit up for more than a few seconds. When disconnected from the computer...they would not light up.
I don't know about an empty battery...but with my battery which was at at least 60%...the keys did light up for a few seconds ...and i did keep getting disconnected from the computer which is why i waited 10 minutes before doing anything.
Have you tried other key combinations? Try volume down, home key and power button. Try with and without being plugged into the usb port.

The soft keys did not stay on for more than a few seconds for me. The steps are correct. Try removing the sd card and try holding the volume buttons and connect to the computer via usb. If that doesnt work...try different key combinations...volume down, home button and power...try while plugged into the computer and without. Let me know if you need further help.

I'm trying with a microSD created using the e980 v20g .tot file... I managed to download an e986 kdz file (many mirrors are down). Maybe it needs the right partitions to boot from sd, even if the two models should be very similar (except for the modem).

The phone is detected in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode (all the drivers have been already installed) only if the microSD is removed, the battery is inserted and I press the volume keys while connecting it to the pc. Otherwise, it remains undetected.
The soft key lights go on only connecting it with the microSD inserted and without the battery.
My battery was at a decent charge (40-60%) 3-4 days ago... I don't know if it went out of charge now.

No lights on using the ac adapter. I've also discovered that the e986 kdz file cannot be read by the firmware extractor.
Thank you for your help... I'll continue tomorrow (it's quite late and I've got to get to work early :S) with your help. I'm planning to leave the phone to LG assistance if I can't recover it before this weekend.
Please let me know if you can make a short video

I own an e986 (as I mentioned in my thread)... but I think that the two models are similar. I didn't think about the possibility to boot up the phone using the microSD, but as I saw on the net it's quite common for all qualcomm-based devices, so I'll give my phone another chance before leaving it to LG assistance.

Some news. After reading for hours yesterday...even though the e980 and e986 are similar...they do have some differences when it comes to the software. You must download the kdz for your phone and use a kdz extractor. I believe you said the extractor in this guide is not working for you...if you search google, you will find a few. Once you're able to extract the original firmware...restart the process. Reformat the sd card before beginning. I am in class right now, but will do my best to respond to you quickly.
My find7 doesn`t do anything, except vibrating every second sometimes, when connect to loader or pc. No thing more. No fastboot, no recovery, no display backlight, no vibrating when pressing powerbutton. No recognition on PC(windows hardware manager or Linux lsusb). I know the unbrick thread in oppocommunity, but even the first step doesn`t work, theres no reaction on pc. Is there any chance to recover my internal storage or better bring phone back to life?
