call blocking - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

I have general question about call blocking I have tried many call blockers but nothing seems to block calls from certain numbers. I an under the impression 2g network calls are unlockable because I have a certain 2g number I am trying to block and none of the blockers work even paid ones I've tried. The person in question who I am trying to block had a very old GSM phone Nokia 3310 which I assume has to be 2g but impossible to block. The call blockers I have tried are successful at blocking all other mobile numbers.

Block national roaming?

Is it possible to block national roaming on the H818P? Sim card 1 has an annoying tendency to not go back to the primary carrier once back in an area where roaming isn't necessary. This wasn't an issue when I had an xperia D6633 so my guess is that it's the G4 that causes it.
I would rather miss calls and texts than have to manually set it back to my provider every time to get the 3G/4G worrying again.

M8 does not receive calls on 4G, works when I switch it to 3G.

I have a HTC One M8, AT&T, TWRP recovery, flashed and rooted with ICE 8.2.2; SuperSu.
When I am connected to 4G/LTE and someone calls me, it rings on their end but my phone does nothing. I checked my IMEI and see LTE is supported. When I switch my mobile network from 2G/3G/4G (auto) to 2G/3G (auto), it connects (H, H+ icon) and my phone receives incoming phone calls. My SIM card does not mention "4G" or "LTE". I have yet to try the SIM in another phone yet but plan to tonight.
Just to help me out with my thought process on figuring out the issue I'm going to think out loud for a second:
Put my SIM in another phone and make sure 4G/LTE is on, check if it receives calls. If it works, the issue is my phone or ROM. If it doesn't work, SIM card is the issue.
Also, from what I understand, phones on 4G switch to 3G when a call comes in and my phone may not be doing that. Is there a fix for this?
EDIT: As additional info, I am able to make outgoing calls without issue on 4G.
Are you actually using AT&T as your cell provider?
Yes, and I made sure my APN settings are correct.
It's a known issue. AT&T's implementation of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) which they call "HD Voice" for some reason interferes with voice calls on custom ROMs on this device.
No real fix, aside from calling AT&T and asking them to turn off the HD Voice feature of your account. May need to ask for a 2nd Tier tech support to do it. Others here have posted they had to do that (and 1st Tier either had not clue what they were talking about, or wrongly claimed it can't be turned off).

Awesome. Thank you!
EDIT: Just finished working through the issue with an AT&T rep through online chat. Had me turn off my phone, disabled it on their end, and turned it back on. Did a test call and sure enough 4g switches to 3g as the call comes in and switches back afterwards. Problem Solved!

P3XL wifi calling setup won't complete / turn on

I did it successfully on a previous P3XL on the same wireless account, and have the same struggles with my current P3XL, but this time I can't recall what exactly enables it on the phone.
When I turn the switch on for wifi calling, it brings me to the carrier pages (Telus) asking for verification and then 911 address information - I complete the entire process where the the last page (still Telus) says it has been turned on, and press the last button 'finish'. However, doing so takes me immediately back to the android wifi calling setting, and the toggle moves back to and stays off. Hitting the toggle on again just restarts the process.
I got it sticking once, what's wrong or what else should I try?

I have the same problem as well, i am on Koodo. I posted in Koodo community forum as well and no one has answer to it.
Screenshot?
What's extra annoying is that I got it on once already...
Update - trying to solve this again. Possibly since the monthly patches there is a slight change in that after hitting the last button in the setup sequence it no longer hangs, but takes you back to the WiFi calling setting and the slider moves back immediately to off.
Next I will try calling my service provider to see if it's a per-device provision of some kind and needs to be cleared or reset since I switched to a different P3XL
calling the provider and getting them to reset the provisioning codes on my account didn't make a difference
SOLVED.
~30 mins on the phone with Telus tech support and explaining how provisioning the billing codes on my account for VoLTE/WiFi calling wasn't enough to enable these services on my phone and that I needed this supposed IMS registration, the rep went back and forth with me and his help desk a few times, we reset the phone twice, and eventually it worked and showed in the phone information menu (*#*#4636#*#*)
IMS registration status: available, VoLTE: available
WiFi calling - when I hit the toggle this time just moved to on and stayed on, didn't even have to do the setup process (presumably because it had been done several times before).
VoLTE - verified by making a call and phone stayed on LTE, did not drop to "H"SPA as it had been doing before.
verified wifi calling by putting phone into airplane mode, enabling wifi and the network in the notification shade said "Telus Wifi Calling"
The guess is non-carrier (Telus in this case) purchased phones are not whitelisted or in the system (their IMEI?) to automatically get IMS registered without tech support assistance.
I think in every 3rd party (Google in this case) purchase phone, the user WILL need to call in to tech support and speak to an agent familiar with the issue or is encouraged to really dig into the things they need to do on their end to get it working.
I also wonder if the device model has to be an approved one by Telus. e.g. can previous Pixels which have not been officially listed by Telus get this working if they support the features? Will only device models Telus has sold themselves work? I don't have answers to these questions and other users will have to try. I'd recommend obscuring what your phone model is or telling Telus it's one of the supported devices to get an honest attempt from them at getting working rather than just repeating a script that it's not supported. We want the real answer whether it can be done or not.
bonus round - Telus does not have eSIM beyond Apple watch at this time, but is working on it for other devices for future support (Pixel 3 supports it)
Telus does not have RCS/Chat (enhanced/advanced messaging) at this point, but is working on it for future availability
Also discovered sometime in the last few years is that Telus permits MMS usage whilst still maintaining a data block on your account, so you can be free to receive (and send if you have a package) picture and video messages, and not worry about pay-per-use data if you dont have a package for that. (it used to be that a data block blocked MMS too, it was all or nothing)
I'm disappointed this information was so hard to find on the net and wasn't provided by any of the providers themselves. There should be information on Telus' VoLTE and WiFi calling pages, for example that explicitly state users with 3rd party purchased devices will need to call in to tech support to get their device activated. I'm sad for mainstream users that A. dont know about these features existing B. don't know they need to be added to their account for billing purposes C don't know they're not actually working at that point and that they D need to call in and work with a tech to get them actually functional
I hope these posts help others who come after me who had the same questions and issues I did.

Getting voice over wi-fi on this phone? Anyone

Hello there, im trying to activate vowifi, i can activate volte fine but not vowifi, anyone got it activated and if you did how did you do it.
Sent from my SHARK MBU-H0 using Tapatalk
Are you in the USA? If so, that is the reason. Xiaomi phones are not whitelisted for wifi calling by ANY carrier here and this is not expected to change soon.
I am presuming you used short codes to turn on Volte successfully. The Wowfi code works also (phone is wifi calling capable) but its carrier disabled.
I bought a paid plan from FreeUP, an ATT MVNO, where you can use an app dialer to make outgoing wifi calls (and free unlimited international calls) but still no incoming wifi calls.
Same pricing as Mint Mobile.
(Fyi, even if you weren't using a global phone the only Android phones guaranteed to get wifi calling here are the ones the carriers here sell ... There are a few exceptions ... The newer pixels and a few others.)

Question about the impending doom of custom roms. I'm with T-Mobile and don't want to switch. So are texts included in this as well, or are only voice calls affected?

You are talking about this:
All U.S. V30/V3O+/V30S will need stock firmware, not LOS-based custom ROMs. When?
The first post is the most relevant. By page 3 the discussion had digressed into other areas.
At first, I thought only voice calls should be affected. (But... don't you need voice calls? Or do you have something like Google Voice? I have Google Voice but in the U.S. I still piggyback on my carrier's assigned phone number.)
(backstory, skip over this if you already know it)
4G LTE started out as "data only". Initially carriers had you temporarily dropping down to 3G (HSPA or CDMA) for voice calls until VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) was perfected.
But for V30 LOS custom ROMs -- which don't have VoLTE -- users still needed this temporary 3G access during phone calls. After the phone call is over, then you jump back to LTE (data only).
Now that 5G is being rolled out, U.S. carriers are killing off 3G to use those resources for 5G. AT&T is keeping 3G HSPA until February 2021, but initially it was reported Verizon and T-Mobile (Sprint) -- and their MVNOs -- are ending 3G in the next couple months. Verizon by January 1, 2020 and T-mobile allegedly in "January 2020" but they have set a specific day of the month that I've seen.
HOWEVER. HOWEVER...
T-Mobile may not be abruptly ending 3G HSPA in January 2021.
Instead T-Mobile says if your phone is not VoLTE capable by sometime in January 2021 it will be shut out of their network. This is not saying they are shutting down 3G HSPA in January 2021 -- just forcing all phones on T-mobile network to be VoLTE capable for WHEN they do shut down.
Hmmmm...
This potentially means you could still use custom ROMs a while longer if you somehow pass their VoLTE capable test? Because 3G HSPA may still be available for a while longer.
On the other hand if you do NOT pass their test, you can't use their network for texting either!

How to find out if your T-Mobile phone has VoLTE support
T-Mobile will shut out all incompatible devices next year (2021).
Check the Settings app
If your phone is already activated on T-Mobile, you can check in your phone's settings if VoLTE is being used. Open the Settings app on your phone and go to the 'About phone' menu, then tap on 'SIM Status'. If you can't find it, try pressing the search button in the app and typing SIM.
Once you find the SIM Status option, tap it, and a popup should appear. If the voice network type is listed as LTE, you're good to go.
If your Settings app doesn't have that menu for whatever reason, try dialing *#*#4636#*#* in your Phone app. This will take you to a hidden diagnostics menu. Select 'Phone information,' then check if LTE is listed under Voice Network Type.
Ok, I had read some of this before, but not all. My phone passes those VoLTE capable tests. So does that mean that my phone is capable, but still not using VoLTE because it's on a custom rom? But that since it's capable, I'll still be able to use 3g network until 2021? And that once I lose voice, I lose texting as well?
If your carrier completely switches to 4G network then you can't use even text messages without Volte
Though using Google messages with RCS may allow you to get and send text messages with internet connectivity.

My best guess, but I'm not T-Mobile:
If your phone passes those tests then it probably won't be locked out of the T-Mobile network in January 2021. If so, then you will still be able to use LOS custom ROM for voice calls, for as long as T-Mobile keeps 3G towers running.
When they do shut off 3G -- may happen gradually, not all at once -- you will not be able to make phone calls on custom ROM without VoLTE, but should still be able to text.
Texts are data, and data-only LTE signal should still allow texting.
