How to recover files from a "dead NAND" HTC One M9? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
as far as I've researched this forum my phone has the dead NAND issue. It shows exactly the same problems as described in this thread
Simple question: Is it possible to get access to the latest photo, video files. If so: How?
As the phone is still under warranty it will be replaced early next week and it would be nice to get the latest photo, video of my first grandson before giving the phone away forever.
Thank you very much for any suggestions.

I wonder a little bit that after 50 views nobody has written anything.
Did I do anything false in posting here? Are any important informations missed from my side?

I can only speak for myself but I'm actually reading a lot via my smartphone. Most of the time this means that I don't have the time to post an answer then. I guess the situation of the other viewers is similar.
In regard to your issue: There's nothing you can do. So far, no one reported that he/she was able to recover any data from a dead nand M9.

HTC One M8 O2 UK - Help and advice

Hi Guys
This is a n00bish post so please excuse if in wrong forum section. If so please redirect.
I was having really bad battery issues after the last O2 OTA update and my micro USB is borked. Requires me to wiggle and prop USB cable up to get the charger to work. Such a pain. I thought this may due to firmware / OS as it may have been linked to other battery issues. I think this may be due to hardware damage. and a separate issue. I am going to return to HTC but have installed a custom ROM Viper 3.2.
The battery issues have been resolved (still having charging issues possible hardware damage / fault).
After I installed Viper I realised my WiFi no longer worked.
Basically I would like the correct firmware and possibly stock OS ( Any OS that makes WiFi work is good for now)
I have been through quite a bit of searching and trial and error but cant seem to find the right firmware and stock image to to run on my M8.
This is o2 UK specific. A O2 UK RUU would be super.

Hi there. I can't really help with your problem, I'm only posting here because I was assigned to move your thread from the general section to the q&a section. I did notice that you included your IMEI number in your post, I've removed it for you, don't ever post your IMEI publicly, or tell anyone what it is. Your IMEI is a unique device identifier, if it falls into the hands of the wrong people they can cause all sorts of problems for you. Anyway, good luck with your problem, just wanted to give you that advice.

You can update the firmware or a stock ROM (that matches your current firmware) but you don't need to do both.
I don't think your version has an RUU (many don't).
The stock ROM that matches your current firmware is 1.54.206.5, as determined by main version on your getvar output. The stock nandroid for 1.54.206.5 can be found on the following thread (with instructions to restore found in Post #3 of that thread, under Questions & Answers):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Also, trial and error while flashing firmware is mostly going to fail, since with s-on you can only flash a firmware with "206" in the third number position (x.xx.206). Also, you need to have the bootloader relocked.
Additionally, I'm not sure how warranty is handled where you are. But in many places, its best practice when returning phone for warranty to s-off (by sunshine) and change the bootloader to LOCKED. UNLOCKED or RELOCKED bootloader in many places will void the warranty. The only way to make it back to LOCKED is with s-off.

First things first, since I represent Venom ROMs. Your wifi didn't work because you firmware is super old.
Secondly, you extSD is probably borked because you skimped and bought a cheap one. They don't last long.
You USB charging issues are either bad cable, charger, or charging port. The first two are easy fixes, the last is something you'll have to get repaired by a shop or HTC.
You'll have to go back to stock to update being S-On. If you can find a stock backup (or if you have one yourself ~ you should just sayin....) Yo can restore that and get the OTA.
After the OTA is downloaded, copy it from your phone to your PC (it's in the sdcard/download folder probably) and open it with 7zip.
Find the firmware.zip and unzip it. The recovery.img is in there.
Place the .img into your fastboot folder.
Hook up you phone to your PC and get into fastboot (obviously), and enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then fastboot reboot and disconnect your phone.
Now that you have the stock ROM and recovery, you should be able to flash the stock OTA.
thanks guys all sorted
had the recovery in slightly wrong folder needed to have device serial as the parent folder.
All back to stock and ticking over nicely

Removing the serial# would also be a good idea.

The serial number isn't really a big issue like the IMEI is, the shady types can't really do anything with that.

Authentic HTC One M9?

So, my shiny new M9 arrived today and I immediately got myself busy with rooting and setting it all up. So far so good, loving the phone.
I've got some questions though on checking it is real, although it certainly feels well built like my M7 and oozes quality, HTC sense as slick and fluid as always. The reason I'm asking is because when I run the getvar all command, I am given this:
(bootloader) kernel: lk
(bootloader) product: htc_himauhl
(bootloader) version: 1.0
(bootloader) imei: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(bootloader) version-main: 2.10.401.1
(bootloader) boot-mode: download
(bootloader) version-baseband: 01.04_U11440601_71.02.50709G_F
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.0.0.0000
(bootloader) mid: 0PJA10000
(bootloader) cid: 11111111
I ran this in download mode (after I rooted). From experience with my other HTC phones, shouldn't that list be much longer, and include the serial number and other stuff? Seems a bit basic or is it just me? Also when I signed into Google for the first time, I received an email confirming the login, "Your Google Account [email protected] was just used to sign in on Android", why not HTC One?
Maybe it's just me being cautious but I'd appreciate if someone could confirm this is normal, or something is incorrect with my setup or the phone itself.
Apart from that, the phone itself is typical HTC solid build quality, everything works as I expected it to, the box contained everything as my M7 did, and the software is definitely not basic Android, it's typical HTC Sense.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I thought it couldn't be non-genuine as it was from a reliable source, and everything about it is perfect, as HTC is.
The phone is brand new, but I achieved S-Off using SunShine at http://theroot.ninja. It isn't free though they do charge $25 but it gains S-Off really easily, then I ran the SuperCID command.
That is normal. HTC changed a few things around with the M9. The notice from Google is also normal.
If you had a counterfeit device, the bootloader would look completely different as counterfeits use low-end processors with different firmware.

HTC ONE M9 only boots into bootloader

While using whatsapp my phone froze, so I forced restarted it. Then it said configuring apps then froze again. After that it rebooted into bootloader. I can go into recovery mode and download mode also, no further. It was stock but in bootlodaer it says modified. It is locked with S-ON. I really need help. I've tried factory resting it, I cant install anything cause of the locked bootloder and S-ON.

Please don't ask for help for one and the same problem in more than one thread. It's harder to help if there are two places where possible solutions get posted. Not everyone is reading every thread and therefore some solutions might get recommended more than once.
Edit: And here's a link to the other thread where this topic gets discussed.

Telstra HTC 10 RUU

Hi guys,
I got a HTC 10 for free because it's currently soft bricked (I can access download, RUU, bootloader, recovery but will not be able to flash or boot unsigned.)
TWRP is somehow installed, however it is S-ON and **Relocked** - System Status Modified
I am looking for RUU for Telstra_WWE_2.48.841.31 or later,
I find it unreasonable to pay for it though, as gem-flash is offering.

I managed to fix mine, but unfortunately I've since reinstalled windows and lost the rom. Sorry, but you should be able to find one online for free that works
