I have a problem with my phone and it won't encrypt (needfor android work).
I did the OTA update (copyied OEM OTA update to nougat), when i try to enable encryption i get through all the prompts and the phone just reboots and is still not encrypted.
i have the problem on all oreo roms, i press encrypt, then i see the custom logo loading, and at the reboot i am STILL UNENCRYPTED. the problem is that being unencrypted i do not see any option to use the FINGERPRINT scanner!

Hi,
Today I tried to flash a new version of Lineage OS on my phone, while the encryption pattern on boot was stil enabled. I didn't realise this would cause such a problem..
Right after flashing Lineage OS the way it should, a message pops on the screen asking me to enter my pattern to start the device while booting, so I entered my code after which it says my code is wrong. The strange thing is that TWRP also asks for that code on startup, except now code is working.
So I can boot in recovery mode and decrypt the device with my old code, but as soon as I try to start the rom (tried LineageOS, my Nandroid backup and AOSPA) the same code doesn't seem to work.
I've already tried this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/psa-twrp-backups-lockscreen-security-t3245070, but this resulted in a bootloop.
Any idea how I can get rid of this problem and start using my phone again?
Thanks alot in advance!
Fixed it by using the 'Format Data' function in the wipe screen of TWRP! :good::good:
Hi.
My Nexus 5X was rooted, unlocked and with the last security update (N2G47Z)
I was using it this after-noon and it freeze and then reboot twice in 15/20 minutes. But now, it's bootloop with the warning about unlock bootloader.
I'm able to put my phone on fastboot mode so I relock bootloader but it's still bootloop
I have try reflash latest 7.1.2 image but still bootloop
Is there something I can do ??
Thanks for your help

Click to collapse
try re-open bootloader and flash last image(or try with old verrsion like MM)
I try but flashing the first 7.1.2 image but the phone still bootlooping so I let it bootloop all night long and this morning, I'm able to configure it (because of the factory reset).
I hope I have fix the problem.
Bad luck. After setting Android (email, Wi-Fi, ...), the phone start to download apps and then reboot and bootloop
I have flash Marshmallow 6.0.1 but still bootloop.
And I can't enter download mode to try flashing TOT file.
Don't know what to do, apart buying a new phone.
Hi - I want to upgrade my wife's encrypted OP3T from OOS 4.x to a Nougat custom ROM.
Her TWRP Recovery Mode has Pattern Lock on Boot protection right now, which I can get into without any issues.
When I tried to modify her OP3T in the past, I ran into a problem where I couldn't unlock TWRP after flashing a new ROM. As a result, I had to wipe her phone, and lost all her data. It led to unhappy weeks at home, with a "Don't you DARE touch my phone again" for a long time after.
I would like to take precautionary steps this time, and set up TWRP so that I don't need to input a unlock pattern.
Is there a way that I can disable the currently required lock pattern to get into TWRP?
You should be fine if you have the latest twrp. That bug only occured in old build of twrp. Or remove the option set password on boot.
I was on Stock MIUI Rom, unlocked bootloader and rooted with Magisk and left the system partition in read-only state. Installed the latest ota update 10.2.2.0 and everything went smooth. After restating the device I was not able to turn on the Wifi. Every time I turn it on, it automatically turns off the toggle in couple of seconds. I'm able to use the mobile data and Bluetooth.
I have factory reset the device and the issue still persists. No physical damage or no system modifications done.
Does anyone else face the issue?
Hello,
I recently got around to unlocking the bootloader of my Z2 Play, XT1710-09 model on Android 8.0.0, February 2019 security patch, installing TWRP and rooting.
Now my first problem started when I went back into TWRP to flash a zip only to find out that it asks for a decryption password. I pressed cancelled and swiped to allow modifications but it appeared my storage was encrypted.
I said f**k it and decided to start over and went ahead and did a factory reset from TWRP (Wipe option) but now I'm stuck on the Boot Logo.
I can enter fastboot and recovery, the storage is no longer encrypted as I can see the TWRP folder that it creates there.
I'm currently downloading the December 2018 image and will try to return to stock via fastboot method but before that happens I wanted to know if I can do anything else to solve this.
If you remove encryption without disabling forceencryption, your device will try to reencrypt itself on the next reboot. So maybe you're not stuck but your device is just trying to do that
