BESTEK MRJ8008 8 outlet Power strip with USB jacks - General Accessories

Hey Guys!,
If you are like me, you have all kinds of things needing power by your entertainment center! You have your TV, Blue Ray, Game console, Receiver, sub woofer, satellite or cable box, Android box, Chromecast, Fire Stick, etc! Some of them have those PITA power blocks that either sit 90 degrees or are too large and block another outlet. The same may be said for your computer desk I am sure. New power cubes are starting to show up that offer a solution! BESTEK offers a fairly decent one that provides eight standard 120V outlets and 6 USB 2.4Amp outlets!
Here is the unit on EBAY with a lot more pix http://www.ebay.com/itm/BESTEK-Powe...Protector-with-8A-6-Port-USB-Ch-/122449628497
That was the lowest price I can find on Ebay
BUT....it is much cheaper on Amazon!!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5JD5VY. AND for XDA members I was told that if you add code BA6F993J in your Amazon checkout it will be only $30.99!!! This has been extended until August 31, 2017!
This is what the back of my entertainment center looked like:

But after replacing the 2 power strips with the BESTEK power cube it looked a bit better:
There are LEDs on the unit to let you know the power is on to your devices. These LEDs are light sensitive so auto-dim for night mode or nice and bright for daytime. The nice thick long power cord also has a low profile 90 degree flat plug for those tight spaces.
The USB ports with 2.4 Amp outputs are enough to trigger Fast or Rapid charge on many devices! So this is perfect for reducing the clutter under that computer desk!
Thanks for reading!
UPDATE: So I got a 2nd one for my computer desk!
Here is what it looked like before:
You can see I had to add another strip PLUS a 3-2 adapter just to make all those power supplies fit.
Here you see how the BESTEK surge protector handles those pesky large adapters:
And here is the result of the addition of the Bestek surge protector under my desk:
The results? The removal of a strip just to accommodate those large adapters, another strip completely empty, and 6 USB ports still available right at my fingertips (or in this case toe tips )

Review: 2A wall/car dual chargers from iSmooth

Yep, it's the same iSmooth known for their screen protectors At first I was very skeptical because they are listed for Apple products, both dual port chargers with 2.1A and 1A - typical for iPad and iPhone/iPod devices. While talking to Paul, the guy behind iSmooth, he mentioned about using it to charge his Note 2 without any issues.
I got both of them, and can report they work perfectly with our Note 2. I can use either 2A or 1A ports to charge GN2 while still have other port used by another device, either android or apple. So functionally it definitely works. Another thing I noticed, 2A port charges the phone pretty fast, and when I connected iPod Touch to 1A port, the charge rate seems to be relative the same which suggests they don't share load where with some other chargers both ports are forced to 1A.
The construction of both is very solid, these are not cheap plastic chargers. Wall charger actually has substantial weight which suggest quality electrical components. Both have white/black theme, works with my UAG Navigator lol!!! Wall charger has a blue light indicator while car charger has a glowing blue ring. I tried capturing everything in picture details below. One thing that makes it unique, wall charger has a release latch to remove the electric plug. Once you do that, you have symmetrical 2-pin universal plug you can find on a ton of your devices around the house, like laptop ac-adapter or printer plugs. I actually used one from my laptop ac-adapter (not included with wall charger, obviously), but still a neat idea for extension cord. if your electrical outlet far away. But in general, wall plug is very slim and should fit without obstruct any other device plugged next to it.
The only drawback, wall charger is sold out on Amazon and I have been told it will take a few months before its back in stock. Oh, also forgot to mention - both wall and car charger come with 10 year free replacement guarantee. That is insane confidence of the product quality.
Ok, so here are the pics:

Coocher 5 Port Desktop Wall Charger (great for travel!)

You can grab one here
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TDHEFNY?utm_source=amazon&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=charger
I am reviewing the following device in return for the usage and review of the said item here in XDA. I am not employed or affiliated with them, they were kind enough to seek my opinion on this product.
While not an accessory specific to Nexus 6, I figured I'd add this here because the N6 does have Quick Charging and wanted to let people know my experience with the item.
And honestly, I was looking for one of these desktop chargers for home. I previously bought one when I go on trips to power my various devices, but was looking to upgrade due to me and my wife's phone now equipped with Quick Charge 2.0.
Upon receiving it, The packaging was really nice. Minimal and not too much. Just enough to protect the contents and not hard to unpack at all. Inside housed the desktop charger, the plug, instructions, and other literature as seen in the pics.
The look is a nice textured matte finish and you can grip it pretty well. It has a good weight to it so it won't fly off your desk if you push papers towards it. You can orient it any way you would like to use it, but my preference for this charger is flat with the print facing up. I found that this way, it won't flop over, even though it has some heft to it, you can accidentally knock it over.
There is a power LED when you plug it into the wall. Not bright, just a nice dim blue led to let you know it's on. IMO a nice touch. Next I plugged in both mine and my wife's phone. (Nexus 6 and HTC M8 respectively). And both charged up pretty quickly! I then tested out the remaining three ports (the non-quick charge ones) and all worked as it should. Also I have to note that all the USB ports were easy to plug in and remove with different usb cords.
So is there really any negatives here? Not that I can see. This is a great product for the price listed on Amazon (17 USD prior to shipping if not a prime member).
Maybe offer different colors? With different color LEDs? Just throwing some quick things off the top of my head. But otherwise it's a great product to use.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Because multiple devices that have Quick Charge, we needed this for the times we need to quickly charge up before heading out to of the house and not really worry about carrying external batteries.
Any questions feel free to ask! Pics below

Review: LDesigns Wireless Charger

This is a review of a wireless charger from LDesign - http://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Wireless-Charger-Charging-Motorola/dp/B015S8TXJC/
So I've personally never bothered to use QI wireless chargers for my phone, and the only device I own that support QI is my smartwatch. After the charger for my smartwatch, Motorola Moto 360, did throw in the towel I was on the lookout for a decent one to replace it. I came across many different ones, but one that really caught my eye was the one from LDesign.
The charger itself came in a pretty ordinary packaging that felt a little bit thin, and on the actual box there were a few specifications as well as information about the product. Inside the box is the charger, as well as a plain micro USB and a manual.
So when it comes to the actual charger, it looks pretty nice and feels solid compared to some other alternatives I’ve seen. The charger itself is partially made out of transparent plastic, which does glow up with a blue light when putting an QI capable device on it - this is great as the blue light makes it easier to see if the charger is actually charging the phone. There’s some rubber as well, so you don’t have to worry about your phone or device slipping off the charger when charging.
The charging performance is about as good as the original Moto 360 charger, but I was unable to measure the exact output of the charger. The charger doesn’t get hot while charging, and I’ve had no issues with its range either – for some reason I can even charge my Moto 360 with the strap in-between the device and charger. The only negative aspect is that the entire charger isn’t capable of charging, and just the square in the middle can be used for charging.
Pros:
Good design and it looks great on my desk.
Decent charging performance paired with my Moto 360
Rubber around the charging area so that the device doesn’t slip off.
Cons:
Not the entire charger can be used for charging
Note that the product was sent to me in exchange of this review, based entirely on my own opinion and experience with the product.

Nylon USB Cables

Hi,
My Samsung and apple usb chargers are absolute crap so I was looking at these new Nylon braided USB cables which are:
- at least 2x in length;
- much more durable;
- boast that they charge and sync at 2.4A which is significantly higher than the stock samsung and apple chargers.
Pretty sure you can buy reversible and micro USB cables also.
Has anyone had experience with these?
Here's an example product I found which seems great in value and holds the above specs:

my Samsung and apple usb chargers are absolute crap
I use a samsung 2 Amp charger, which has a usb socket in it – for charging my table and/or mobile phone. What do you mean crap? I haven't had one fail, and works as expected. So is this thread relating to the charger itself? Or relating to usb cables? For my charger, the charger has a usb socket – so you could put whatever kind of cable you want on it.
DO ...NOT ...BUY
I have had several ...
1. The contact is poorly molded. The micro-usb contact will soon pop out of the mold and break off.
2. The sleeve does nothing at all. It just looks cool.. the poor way the cable and contacts is molded it does not make the cable stronger.
3. Even how much the information emphasize that the cable can transfer more amperes this is not the case... All sleeve kind of usb cables I have had stalled at about 450mAh.
The best cables are the one that is not fitted with "bling bling" all around or brag about its quality.
I recommend you to instead buy a classic cable http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5458&seq=1&format=2
This has:
Ferrite Core. Most people doesn't know what this round brick around the cable does anyway..
28/24AWG ..you can bend it all you want. It won't break. Also allow for more current to pass.
Gold plated. Does nothing but looks good..it will scratch off after a month from inserting and removing.
Note: The cables from monoprice isn't something special. They are only a retailer. The cables are manufactured in china.
It is a very nice usb cable. I had it for days and still works great.

BESTEK LED desk lamp with 2.4Amp charging port

After doing some travelling I noticed some hotels have lamps on the night stands that also had USB ports in them. I thought this was a pretty cool idea so went on a search for something for my night stand. I found one available for as low as $31 on ebay or only $24 for the white version on Amazon.
I have a Nexus 6P so was interested in something that could also provide fast charging. The USB C and Nexus 6P is capable of 3 Amp charging and was at a loss to find one that could go that high but these lamps provide a full 2.4 Amp USB port that does allow the 6P to rapid charge. If you are like me you have chargers sticking out everywhere and limited outlets available. This convenient hotel quality lamp solves that bed side for you! The lamp is available in both black and white. There are many types of lighting from reading, to study to sleep with several brightness levels for each! So there should be a pleasing choice available for every situation. As a night light or for those that read in bed and fall asleep, there is a 60 minute timer option too!!
The lamp swivels 45 degrees in each direction from the base. The light moves forward or back on an elbow. The light itself swivels on the head as well! It even folds straight up to be out of the way when not in use! Of course the best part is that it is LED so uses very little electricity for those "green" of us and also don't like giving up more money to the electric companies! I have also seen the same company has one with a clock as well. I use my phone for clock and alarm so didn't need another clock in the house to set every power outage :silly:
LED is the future for lighting and saving $$$$
