BESTEK LED desk lamp with 2.4Amp charging port - General Accessories

After doing some travelling I noticed some hotels have lamps on the night stands that also had USB ports in them. I thought this was a pretty cool idea so went on a search for something for my night stand. I found one available for as low as $31 on ebay or only $24 for the white version on Amazon.
I have a Nexus 6P so was interested in something that could also provide fast charging. The USB C and Nexus 6P is capable of 3 Amp charging and was at a loss to find one that could go that high but these lamps provide a full 2.4 Amp USB port that does allow the 6P to rapid charge. If you are like me you have chargers sticking out everywhere and limited outlets available. This convenient hotel quality lamp solves that bed side for you! The lamp is available in both black and white. There are many types of lighting from reading, to study to sleep with several brightness levels for each! So there should be a pleasing choice available for every situation. As a night light or for those that read in bed and fall asleep, there is a 60 minute timer option too!!
The lamp swivels 45 degrees in each direction from the base. The light moves forward or back on an elbow. The light itself swivels on the head as well! It even folds straight up to be out of the way when not in use! Of course the best part is that it is LED so uses very little electricity for those "green" of us and also don't like giving up more money to the electric companies! I have also seen the same company has one with a clock as well. I use my phone for clock and alarm so didn't need another clock in the house to set every power outage :silly:
LED is the future for lighting and saving $$$$

Do you know the specs of the bulb. This looks interesting to me.

The Official Charging Dock I'd Like to See

So now that we've got built-in wireless charging, I think it's time for some cool official wireless chargers. This is the idea I had:

This charger would allow you to use your new Nexus 7 as a clock while it's charging. Drop it onto the dock, and it stands up and makes it easy to read from across the room and easy to quickly grab when it's done charging. Matte black would look nice, with a basic white indicator light that turns on when the device is charging and turns off when it's done.
That's pretty neat, but I have a nice addition to that: the tablet slides in and down into the cradle, and there's a hole where the Pulse LED is so you can see if you have notifications; that would be instead of a light to indicate charging.

I like that Now I just need to be better at drawing
Rather have a landscape dock.

Nice idea. The only downside of the new N7 is I was used to keeping the old one docked neatly at my bedside. Probably have to wait 6 months for a dock to come out.

Agreed.
Or one that can be used either portrait or landscape ( I can see a use for either).
this would actually be really nice, charge my tablet while browsing the internet or playing games, like the concept
This idea is neat. I would like to see it for both vertical and horizontal viewing. In another thread I said a stand should have some weight so it does not move easy. Or it could have no slip on the bottom.

Coocher 5 Port Desktop Wall Charger (great for travel!)

You can grab one here

I am reviewing the following device in return for the usage and review of the said item here in XDA. I am not employed or affiliated with them, they were kind enough to seek my opinion on this product.
While not an accessory specific to Nexus 6, I figured I'd add this here because the N6 does have Quick Charging and wanted to let people know my experience with the item.
And honestly, I was looking for one of these desktop chargers for home. I previously bought one when I go on trips to power my various devices, but was looking to upgrade due to me and my wife's phone now equipped with Quick Charge 2.0.
Upon receiving it, The packaging was really nice. Minimal and not too much. Just enough to protect the contents and not hard to unpack at all. Inside housed the desktop charger, the plug, instructions, and other literature as seen in the pics.
The look is a nice textured matte finish and you can grip it pretty well. It has a good weight to it so it won't fly off your desk if you push papers towards it. You can orient it any way you would like to use it, but my preference for this charger is flat with the print facing up. I found that this way, it won't flop over, even though it has some heft to it, you can accidentally knock it over.
There is a power LED when you plug it into the wall. Not bright, just a nice dim blue led to let you know it's on. IMO a nice touch. Next I plugged in both mine and my wife's phone. (Nexus 6 and HTC M8 respectively). And both charged up pretty quickly! I then tested out the remaining three ports (the non-quick charge ones) and all worked as it should. Also I have to note that all the USB ports were easy to plug in and remove with different usb cords.
So is there really any negatives here? Not that I can see. This is a great product for the price listed on Amazon (17 USD prior to shipping if not a prime member).
Maybe offer different colors? With different color LEDs? Just throwing some quick things off the top of my head. But otherwise it's a great product to use.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Because multiple devices that have Quick Charge, we needed this for the times we need to quickly charge up before heading out to of the house and not really worry about carrying external batteries.
Any questions feel free to ask! Pics below

Review of IceFox LED Desk Lamp M1

This is a Review of IceFox LED Desk Lamp with touch dimming control and usb charger. http://www.icefox.cc/en/product/led-desk-lamp-m1/, available now on US for under $60.
This is the best multi-function multi-use desk lamp that I’ve ever seen. The design is both contemporary and professional – this is a desk lamp that can transition from home to office without missing a beat. There are a ton of incredible features, from the 4 lighting modes and 5-step brightness dimming feature to the time control feature to the completely adjustable rotation – every feature is useful, intuitive, and consistently functional.
I collect coins and for the past few years have used a special desk that I set up for indulging in my hobby. In the middle of the summer one of my kiddos took over my hobby desk – I was unceremoniously kicked out of my favorite spot in the house. The dining room table spends more time being covered with another kiddo’s hockey gear than it spends empty so I couldn’t use that table. I found myself at the kitchen table but have been so incredibly frustrated by not having the kind of lighting that I need – we have a nice overhead light but the fact that it’s overhead means shadows, and the light just isn’t bright enough for what I needed. A few weeks ago I received the Icefox LED Desk Lamp at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review and my lighting challenge was solved! This desk lamp is beyond perfect for using to light up my work area – the “study” mode gives bright glare-free light that lets me work without any eyestrain. The adjustable and rotatable head, arm and base let me position the light where I need it to get a shadow-free work area. The handy USB port lets me keep my phone handy and charged for taking pictures while I’m working. I love that when I need the table for having dinner, my new LED lamp folds down and takes up very little space. And my favorite feature, the “relax” mode – dimmed down a step – is the perfect light when I’m winding down at the end of the day with my tea, or when I’m gearing up first thing in the morning with my coffee.

A good lamp for home use .
But not recommend for carrying out.
I just ordered this lamp from Amazon a couple weeks ago.

[Review] Yinnuo Outdoor Headlamp with 10 hours runtime for 15$

Hey,
some days ago Yinnuo sent me their headlamp (not headset!) for review so here it is now
Let me first clarify that I am neither paid by them nor related to them in any other way. My review is as honest and unbiased as possible.
Let's start :highfive:
General information
The headlamp came in a small and rather damaged box. Actually the box was half shredded so that first impression was "well they sent me this because it is already half broken". In the end what matters is the content though, so I won't go too hard on them here.
The specifications are:
5W LED lamp
4800 mAH rechargable battery
mounted to a strap
ContentThe content is straight forward:
the lamp (obviously)
charging cable with US plug

Contrary to most chinese gadgets there were zero manuals in the box. Given that it is just a rechargable lamp you as a customer should know how to use it I guess
LightI tested the lamp in my cellar and it emits a blue-ish light. The light is really bright and surprisingly focused. You can focus on exactly one point and it hardly spreads. The lamp itself has a small hinge so you can turn the lamp up and down. That's a good feature because you can exactly position the light to into your view. Also there are two brightness levels and you can switch between them by pressing the power button.
Battery LifeAfter charging the battery overnight I enabled it and left it on my desk. After 7 hours of work it was still shining so I guess the advertised 10 hours are rather realistic. Nice! The charger rates only 500 mA of output so charging will take really long, which is not so nice.
Wearing experienceThe lamp is HUGE. Really huge! You won't win a beauty contest with it but it's functional so that's okay. The only thing I found annoying is that the battery pack blocks a bit (~5%) of your upper view when wearing it. I like the wearing feeling though - the lamp sits tight on your head but it doesn't hurt, so that is definitely a plus.
ConclusionHere is my conclusionas bullet points:
Pro:
Cheap - 15$!
Really bright and focused light.
Good wearning comfort.
Decent battery life/large battery.
Two brightness levels.
Con:
Huge lamp doesn't exactly look good
No micro-USB for charging but a proprietary plug.
Charger output is 500 mA, so it takes nearly 10 hours to fully charge it.
Well, I like it. The only scenario where I could use it is in a tent on a festival but overall it seems to be a solid lamp for little money. If you're looking for such a lamp, consider buying it.

BESTEK MRJ8008 8 outlet Power strip with USB jacks

Hey Guys!,
If you are like me, you have all kinds of things needing power by your entertainment center! You have your TV, Blue Ray, Game console, Receiver, sub woofer, satellite or cable box, Android box, Chromecast, Fire Stick, etc! Some of them have those PITA power blocks that either sit 90 degrees or are too large and block another outlet. The same may be said for your computer desk I am sure. New power cubes are starting to show up that offer a solution! BESTEK offers a fairly decent one that provides eight standard 120V outlets and 6 USB 2.4Amp outlets!
Here is the unit on EBAY with a lot more pix http://www.ebay.com/itm/BESTEK-Powe...Protector-with-8A-6-Port-USB-Ch-/122449628497
That was the lowest price I can find on Ebay
BUT....it is much cheaper on Amazon!!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5JD5VY. AND for XDA members I was told that if you add code BA6F993J in your Amazon checkout it will be only $30.99!!! This has been extended until August 31, 2017!
This is what the back of my entertainment center looked like:

But after replacing the 2 power strips with the BESTEK power cube it looked a bit better:
There are LEDs on the unit to let you know the power is on to your devices. These LEDs are light sensitive so auto-dim for night mode or nice and bright for daytime. The nice thick long power cord also has a low profile 90 degree flat plug for those tight spaces.
The USB ports with 2.4 Amp outputs are enough to trigger Fast or Rapid charge on many devices! So this is perfect for reducing the clutter under that computer desk!
Thanks for reading!
UPDATE: So I got a 2nd one for my computer desk!
Here is what it looked like before:
You can see I had to add another strip PLUS a 3-2 adapter just to make all those power supplies fit.
Here you see how the BESTEK surge protector handles those pesky large adapters:
And here is the result of the addition of the Bestek surge protector under my desk:
The results? The removal of a strip just to accommodate those large adapters, another strip completely empty, and 6 USB ports still available right at my fingertips (or in this case toe tips )
