The reality is that headphone jacks suck, which is why they are being phased out. I can't tell you how many devices I've had over the years where you have to twist the jack in order to get audio out of both speakers. They just suck and are outdated. Bluetooth is infinity more convenient and if you really need to have a wire, you can use the charging port to do it with an adapter.
Also they simply eliminated a model this year. They met in the middle with the thickness and the battery capacity of last years models (Z and Z Force). You have to pick one or the other and you can't have both. I would have preferred they leave it thinner with less battery. If you want more battery, thats what the mods are for. You can't make your phone thinner, but you can add a mod with battery life. Also, the battery on these phones isn't like a Samsung, they last forever, so all the complaining about the battery size doesn't make any sense. .

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium also has dual SIM with SD835. Retails at about $800
I was unaware this phone has dual sim...are you sure?
The sim slot is not Hybrid in the US, at least not on the Verizon model, probably just China or ROW

Hello,
does someone use a micro SIM inside its Arc S with an adapter? I've read over the internet that some SIM housing might damage if you use micro SIM with adapter...
I use micro sim in my Arc wthout the adaptor,as long as you get it the right place it should be ok

ooh, really?! and how does it keep in the right place without moving? I mean... standard sim slot present in our Arc / Arc S is much wider than the micro sim!
lick and stick.

all sim cards are the same thickness so it wont move, you know the metal strip going across the sim tray, when you insert the microsim you want it centre to to the strip and equal distance either side.

Got it, thanks! I just was wondering if the SIM moves while I insert/use it and short circuits may happen and damage the circuitry...
if you clumsy enough, i wouldn`t suggest to use any micro sim card in any regular phone a lot of people do brake their expensive devises cause of microsim adapters
but mine works fine just in this way
For a free micro sim adapter, order a giffgaff sim below as it comes as a microsim inside a normal sim so you can either use the new sim or use it as a template to cut your old sim to size.
Order from below
has anybody purchased a working Micro sim to mini sim adapter? I have an S3, but i want to have the option to switch to my S1 (Captivate) when i need to. I searched the forums and somebody found This , but a bunch of comments said that the card can ruin the sim pins.
Has anybody bought his or her own and can vouch for them? Link me please.
Thank you!

I had and iPhone 5 that uses a nano sim so I bought the kit that you see there...the only thing you have to becarful
with is that when you put in you sim card you have to make sure it doesn't drop out of it's adapter or you will definitely ruin
your pins...what I did so it would not not fall out I used a tiny spec of tape just to hold it there....

Its a bit hard to visualize what you just said. Could you take a picture of it?
I think he means to secure the sim in the adapter he used a bit of tape on the back of them so it wouldnt come out of the adapter and get lodged in the iphone?? Good tip btw but be sure its not tight when u put it in due to the extra tape

If it helps... I bought a microsim-minisim adapter at a booth at my local mall but it wasn't of very good quality. I bought a few from this site ( http://www.nano-sim-adapter-shop.com ) and they are much better! The corners (where you drop the microsim in) have little landing spots for the microsim to sit on. I didn't need to use tape with it, but a little tape (very thin tape) will help keep it in place even more

Okay and what i need to go from a micro sim to a mini sim (S3 to Cappy) is the 3rd option down (MicroSIM to SIM Adapter), right?
Also, as a note to everybody else: Thanks for your help! Appreciate it!

Well, my hope is to stir up enough interest in the kinds of modules that we think would be awesome for this phone. I mean it's awesome that we can easily repair this phone because of its "modularity" but I know I definitely was bought over on the idea of a adding different functionality to my phone; maybe specific to a certain kind of line of work or something simple like a special kind of case added functionality. LG actually has a contest going on like this but only open to native South Koreans. I don't understand why it isn't worldwide? Are we going to have to start a kick-starter?

I was thinking maybe an extended battery case with solar panel, think true wireless charging! Or a gamepad module!

The new modular moto is said to have a projector as one of it's modules. I was thinking a thermal/night vision cam could be cool.
i'd take the hi-fi module lol, had I known I needed the international version to even use it I wouldn't have bought it through tmo
a joypad module
a real GameBoy on our LG G5 !!!!!!
Auto root and bootloader unlock module for all variants.
There are so many features that the aftermarket could offer for a variety of different lifestyles, I don't even know where to start!!
I second the joy pad.
Also, I think a legit flashlight with dedicated switch would be pretty cool/handy.
Maybe a high quality microphone for sampling and on the fly recording for musicians.
A flip out, clamshell style physical keyboard for the texting junkies.
A simple module with a microUSB port for those with many microUSB devices that want to consolidate charging platforms.
A big fat battery that doubles as a power bank.
A serious WiFi module for hard core tethering.
A two way radio with accompanying app for those who travel off the grid.
RFID reader.
Multi card reader.
The possibilities are nearly limitless, if the phone is popular enough and the LG continues to offer the platform in future devices (or even licenses it out to other phone manufacturers if it catches on) who knows what awesome new features it could provide!!
Thermal imaging camera

I'd take a front firing speaker and hardware buttons (with front fingerprint reader for when on desks) with just a little 200 mah battery built in to bring us to 3000 . Simple but would be epic

I think zerolemon can get us way more battery juice than that. Id like to see speeakers or the dac
Hello,
I'd like to ask your opinions guys.
After 5 years my m7's touch panel died and I'm in the struggle of buying a new phone. The problem is that I don't have the money to buy a flagship right now and HTC's policy is kind of weird now anyways, even though
I like the Sense ui and the build quality of their phones .
My budget is around $220 / 180 Euros
I was thinking of a refurbrished/ old stock m9.
It has boomsound, a headphone jack and none of that usb-c gimmick.
Sadly the support for it is dying and I'm not sure if it will ever get a stable Oreo mod.
The second option would be a new HTC 10 Evo (aka Bolt).
It has a bigger screen and battery.
And will get an official Oreo update in Q2.
The problems with it are that, the XDA part of it is almost dead with no custom roms.
It has no boomsound speakers.
Also it has that pesky usbc with the lack of 3rd party jack adapter support, like every htc phone nowadays (Why I hate it? because every headphone breaks at the connector end. So either I'm stuck with htc headphones, or I buy their overpriced usbc dac every year or so. I usually use sennheisers or sony mdr-s and if the cable breaks I just solder a new jack on it.) + I can't use my rode lav with it.
I was also thinking about a used htc 10, but I'm not really fond of used phones + where I live most of them are a bit overpriced.
What I need is a good daily driver, which still can last an extra 2 years or so. I'm not much of a gamer, but I'd like to stay with a Snapdragon cpus and metal bodies
Let me hear your opinions guys. Thanks for the answers and suggestions.
I think the m7,m8 and m9 were HTC's finest, from there they went downhill. The only decent phones you can get are the 10 and 10evo,maybe A9. But the things yiu mentioned are the drawbacks. I use the HTC bolt,i like it. I'm getting used to the little perks.
I just finished reading this review on the Galaxy S21 FE and noticed it doesn't have a headphone jack. I'm okay with that as long as the USB-C port supports analog audio output to cheapo USB-C earphones.
So my question: Is analog audio output via USB-C supported? Or is this device like a Pixel phone and requires more expensive earphones with a DAC chip built into them?

Only digital. The dongle has to have a DAC in it or whatever audio device you are connecting it to. The Samsung one works fine except it's hanging from the bottom of the phone... not good.

Thanks. Yeah, that's a deal breaker. I really like using cheapo earphones at work, whether they be 3.5mm jack or USB-C (analog). Having DAC outside the phone is cumbersome and Bluetooth earphones are too much fuss.

The Buds+ sound better or as good as cheap earbuds or phones. They're light, don't come out and have a long run time.
Not perfect but pretty good... Samsung should have kept the 3.5 jack.
Dropping the SD card slot in their recent flagship phones lost them my purchase. Got another new Note 10+ instead.
In 2-3 years if they continue to chase Apple... they are dead to me.

I agree. This whole 3.5 jack non-issue is proving to be the most frustrating "progress" that manufacturers have made. Let's not forget that at first, the sole reason that Apple did this was because the jack "did not fit". Apparently all other manufacturers realized the same thing although they have no problem in making phones bigger than 6.7 inches. Nowadays it's just an excuse to sell expensive gear to people and these wireless buds do not solve the problem. I have perfectly good headphones that do not require charging and that do not fall out of my ears but I cannot listen to them no matter what I do. Dongles are crap quality with background noise and there's nothing you can do about it. It's funny but a few years ago, you actually felt that phones were capable of doing everything but now... not so much.

I totally get why the removal of a space consuming century old standard 3.5mm jack happened, but why the removal of internal DAC for analog audio out via USB-C? I like to have earplugs which can dangle from my shirt while I'm not talking on my phone. I used Bluetooth for a while but they got neglected because I always forgot to take them out of my toolbag and charge them. Also, they couldn't dangle from my shirt because of the no wires thing. How much extra does it cost to manufacture a phone with internal DAC via USB-C?
I have no idea honestly. Whenever I try to think of a logical answer, it always boils down to marketing and reducing costs of manufacturing while also making more money from accessories. They are trying so hard to push these wireless buds to customers that they would do anything so that we spend more money on them or on the accessories for wired headphones. Just look at the S21 FE, the pre-order came with buds included. The new P50 PRO from Huawei, also pushed the wireless earphones with it's offer. And people still hate these dang things but somehow they don't care. At this rate I'm going back to physical mp3's )
