Hey Everyone,
So I noticed that I have a horribly excessive battery drain coming from the significant motion sensor. I have done a fair amount of research and found out that that sensor is activated when the phone is picked up, moved, or in a car or other means of travel. Thing is, I'll have my phone laying overnight not being touched yet in the morning I will that the significant motion sensor kept the phone awake a good portion of the night according to BBS. So, does anyone know how I can stop this from waking my phone up and keeping it awake for so long? It is causing a horrible battery drain. Thank you!
No one has any ideas?
It is weird, have you turn off the motion options under settings?

I can't find a link to this app, but there is a disable sensor xposed module. See https://repo.xposed.info/module/com.mrchandler.disableprox

does this problem happens to you too ?
This is the first I've heard of it but you obviously have to return it for abother pad. Even with the aluminum back mine only gets warm at the most

it happens only when i am trying to benchmark it , have u tried it and what version is your device bcz i think its a software problem .
I've only noticed the device getting hot when I benchmarked it over and over again to sort of stress test it. From regular use it does get warm (all devices do, including cell phones) but I've never had overheating problems.
Um, don't do that then?

This just occurred on mine last night
This just happened to me last night. It auto turned down the brightness and said it was overheating. I was not doing that much.....I wonder if the battery is going bad....

LOL yea not sure why he's putting the fault on the tablet. All devices will heat up from excessive benchmarking.
Although, during my stress testing it did get hot but didn't give me any errors or shutdowns.

Mine has done this before while playing riptide. I had my brightness at 95% and it turned it down and had a toast warning. I really think it is the design of the tablet and this can happen if you push the tablet hard at full brightness. I haven't seen it since. This was back in December so I wouldn't be too concerned If it doesn't become a normal occurrence. I have owned many android tablets and this one definitely runs the hottest.
I have the same issues guys... this tablet has design issues. If you charge while using WIFI boom u got over heating. also without charging normal usage will trigger overheating i have recorded temp going more than 70 Degrees until it shuts by itself.
I had replaced my tab once but the new unit has the same issue.!
Any fixes so far?
....same to me.
any suggestions?
Hello,
Is it just me or I can't see a forum section dedicated to Moto 360 v2 ? Many users have already received the smartwatch. I would like to ask actual users about battery life, etc. and I just don't know where to ask...
I've been wondering that too. I should be receiving my watch tomorrow, so I'll try to let you know about the battery life. I'm hoping that the 46mm watch will go at least a whole day with ambient mode on.
I have the 42 mm and I wear it from 7 am to 10 pm with ambient mode on and by the end of the day the battery is down to 33%. I don't do much with it except use Moto Body to track steps and heart rate but not during exercise, I have a Microsoft Band that works a lot better for me for that. I have it paired to an iPhone 6 too and have some reconnect issues that appear to be common with iPhone users.

Thanks for the info. Are you using "ambient mode on and wrist gestures off" (which would keep the screen on all the time) or the "ambient mode on and wrist gestures on (which would not keep the screen on all the time) ?

I'm on day 1 with the Moto 360 2nd Gen 46mm. Unplugged at 8:00AM and its now 10:36PM I'm sitting at 60% battery remaining after some pretty heavy use throughout the day. Ambient mode is off but everything else is on. Watch battery estimates I have 22 hrs left based on today usage.
I'm actually a little disappointed with battery life on the 42mm. I'm hoping that today was a fluke, but I can't think of anything that I did out of the ordinary and I didn't really play with it. This is my first full day with it so it's very possibly a fluke.
I took it off the charger around 7:30am and by 3pm I was at 20%. It still lasted until i got home around 6 where it almost died. This is with ambient and gestures turned on. If it won't last through the day with those features on, I'm going to trade up to the 46mm. My nexus 5 was almost dead as well which might mean there was a runaway app. I'm hoping so at least.
Hello guys, some questions
Does always on drain so much battery during the day? We talk about how much percentage/day?
Also, does it increases the risk of burn in the display by letting it be active? Thank you so much

I don't really use always on display but it does require the screen to constantly be using power so yes, it would take more battery.
Yes, it does increase the risk of burn in. The clock does move around slightly but not enough to prevent some pixel from staying on constantly.

Wow 4 replacements due to burn in and only after 7 days? Is it the clock of the always on display that is burning in? Pretty crazy if it is. I've had my Pixel 2 XL for almost 4 months and not even the slightest trace of burn in. I do see some image retention once in a while but it's usually gone after 2-3 seconds and never lasts more than 10 seconds.
I am having an old panel (sep manufacturing date) that should be prone to burn-in. No signs of burn in until now! *knocks on wood*

If you have the AutoTools plugin alongside Tasker you can pretty easily set AOD to off based on whatever context you like.
For myself, I have a profile that turns AOD off whenever do not disturb is on, and I have another profile that enables do not disturb automatically overnight. So once that profile fires, the AOD one fires right after.
Even with it off though, I still go from 100 to about ~80-82 overnight (8 hours). I uninstalled Amplify and ForceDoze, thinking those two apps were conflicting, and in result becoming counter-productive. However, it only seemed to help by 1-2%
Edit: this is for the user I quoted if that changes your mind about using Tasker and also for OP if they believe AOD is the culprit

Wow. That's pretty heavy idle drain man. I get 0.6%/hr max with AOD off, and 1% with it on 24/7. I don't need/want to use tasker and flipping the phone over works for me. Really, even a few percent overnight doesn't bother me. A few minutes on any charger and it's right back up there. This phone has the best battery life I've experienced. I just think a feature like AOD off with DND is a no-brainer. Apparently not at Google (yet).

Yeah, my SOT is great, between 6-8 hours but idle drain sucks for some reason. I just wish it was better because I usually leave my charger downstairs and have nothing to charge with in my bedroom. Flipping the phone over has no impact on battery life. That's just strange to even suggest that.
Also, as much as I like my Pixel 2 XL the charging speed from 90% to 100% is REALLY slow so "a few minutes on any charger and it's right back up there" isn't very accurate. If you plug in the Pixel 2 XL to the stock charger at 85% it's like an hour before it's 100%.
I could see AOD off with DND as being a nice option but only if it is an option. AOD should not have to be off just because DND is on.

OK.. Sorry, I'm drinking Tequila again. Apologies. But YES, my AOD turns off when I flip the phone. I run EX Kernel and can quantify the idle drain difference (battery monitor) by flipping the phone over for several weeks. Idle drain drops from 1.0-1.1% down to 0.5-0.6% by just flipping the phone. Check it, and don't bring charging rates into a discharge thread, cabron.

Well then I guess my phone has a defect because covering the proximity sensor does not turn off the AOD. The proximity sensor does work just fine on calls.
I don't really care too much because I don't usually use AOD due to fear of burn in since that more than anything else is what would be most likely to cause burn in. Although if I get my phone replaced under warranty so that covering the proximity sensor does turn off AOD then maybe it might not as much of an issue. At the same time that would likely result in me leaving the phone upside down when it's not in my pocket to prevent burn in which really defeats the purpose of the AOD. I'll probably just live with the defect since it won't really matter anyways.
As far as the charging speed I was directly addressing a comment that had been made that was untrue so while that might not be there topic of this thread it was relevant to the discussion.

Actually, the clock moves slightly each minute to prevent burn-in. That shouldn't be a problem with AOD on this device.

You need to cover the sensor for like 5 or more seconds. It is not instant. Have you tested that? Keep it covered and it should turn off.
This is a pain. I have no apps installed. I have always on display turned off but when I charge the phone and the screen is off you get battery level and gone to full on the button. There is no easy to turn this off. I have tried everything. Thus week cash's screen burn in. It never goes off even when battery is full.
I have attached a screen shot. Any ideas? I'd blogging edgar Samsung needs to fix this asap or the phone goes back. S10 didn't do this.

I was looking in Samsung members and there's a couple threads about it and somebody from I guess Samsung said to use Good Lock (which doesn't fix the issue currently) but maybe they will update it so it does.
Ccswe pro app. Disable always on display gets rid of the charging status being on all the time when connected to charger/wireless charger.Etc.worked for me.

yeah this, still don't get why people are worried about burn in from AOD. It moves around quite a bit even the human eye can tell
My main concern is the brightness, it's brighter than the note 9 charging led at night.

Even if it does, it covers a very small area, unlike the AOD clock.. Have you seen the green icon at the bottom when the battery

I think we should all call Samsung 10 times bumbarding them with incident tickets on this issue.

After disabling AOD using package disabler, can someone try installing an older AOD version? That version I belive will not have this stupid feature.

My main concern is the brightness, it's brighter than the note 9 charging led at night.

It dimmed down after few minutes
The reason it's there is because there is no longer an LED to show charging status. Not saying it's a good idea, just saying why it's there.
I agree with others that there is a concern of burn in. If it just shifts around by a couple pixels, it will still burn in. To prevent burn in. It would need to move around the screen. Like from top to bottom and side to side.
One work around is to take off the charger as soon as it hits 100, but I like to use my phone until I go to bed then put it on the charger. And even then, is an hour a day everyday showing the same constant image enough to cause burn in?

I tried really very hard to see the text moving but just couldn't. I personally believe it doesn't.
Even if it does, it covers a very small area, unlike the AOD clock.. Have you seen the green icon at the bottom when the battery
is full? That's going to be the biggest burner of all..

Many thanks for your note, just one small question, Does S10+ have battery charging indicator that stays on all the time when plugged in ? It's that notification at the bottom of the screen that shows even when the AOD is off.
I have read forums that said S10 Did not have it ?
Please reply..
Thanks.

That is correct.
Also if you do not like it, there is an app that can disable it.

You have made my day Sir.. Thank you.. Which app can disable it please?
Just one last question, do you charge your phone overnight ? Mine sits on wireless charging overnight for good 8 hrs everyday and shows the battery full icon also which is green in color. So the indicator stay on the screen for about 7 hrs each day.

I have both phones.
The S10+ does not have the same charger indicator as the Note 10+.
Currently the only way to turn it off is to disable AOD completely with a package disabler, unless something has been found over the past few hours that I'm not aware of.

Could it be that you do not have the latest FW or the AOD version ?
I was looking for it and just saw this video, which does show the charging indicator all the time. See here for S10 SE, would appreciate your comments.
Thanks
