thanks yahyoh. i tried the heimdall on my mac from the tutorial on this site, but when i tried the commands for the terminal server i think it was, the computer didn't recognize my device. even copy and pasting the next 4 lines as said in the tutorial didn't work. i can't find anyone who will loan me a pc for a long enough period and majority of my friends have mac or iphones so they can't help me. i ran across the root android pro on a link from this forum and was wondering if anyone tried it or had any other suggestions on how to root

I'm running Linux Mint and don't have access to any Windows computer. What's the best method for rooting under Linux?
Hey all, I have Oneplus 3 rooted and running stock rom. When I connect it to my Chromebook the only thing I have access to are the driver files, none of which are useful for chromebook. The same problem occurs when I flip over to Linux on the Chromebook. I have installed adb on the Linux side and had no trouble rooting the phone. But how do I access the phone's file system??
Thanks
I've somehow managed to hardbrick my D855. I'm assuming that I'll have to use the shortpin method to get it working, but all the guides I've found so far use Windows, and I'm running Linux. I don't really feel like setting up Virtual Box on my crappy laptop, so can anyone help me out with doing this natively in Linux?

As far as i know...You can't unbrick it with Linux. As you would need boarddiag tool which only comes as a windows executable.
I suggest you create some sort of On-The-Go windows installation and boot from a flash drive if u don't wanna through the whole VBox process or install Windows on ur physical machine.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what I'll end up doing, my laptop is on its last legs - only one working usb port and a fried keyboard. And the working usb port is usb3, and I've had bad luck installing Windows from that port in the past. There's also no dvd drive. And since I'm only interested in using the phone as a Plex receiver for my stereo anyway, there's no real rush.
Hey folks, I'm looking to root my f3 to try and solve a problem with the 4G bands that is causing signal loss.
Is there a way to root this device without a Windows machine? I don't have one since I use macos...
I tried KingRoot with no success so far.
Hi. In order to root the POCO F3, you have to unlock the bootloader first. This can only be done (afaik) with the MIUI Unlock Tool. I also have a Mac and tried various other solutions, including VirtualBox with either Windows XP or 10, none worked. So I finally borrowed a Window laptop just for unlocking the bootloader.
Once the bootloader unlocked, I used SDK Platform-Tools for Mac for flashing.
This is java
On linux is impossible to use GUI and works only from shell, I think this is good for MAC too

Back in august when I unlocked my phone, I also tried this command line tool without success. I had the same errors as other users. But reading the last comments, there is now a fix and it could work.

You can use virtualhere to send your USB connection to remote Windows machine (VM or Physical machine). I successfully unlocked my f3 on my Mac.
