Best root method for Linux - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running Linux Mint and don't have access to any Windows computer. What's the best method for rooting under Linux?

Anyone tried rooting via Heimdall yet as opposed to Odin? Hoping for some good news before I try and brick this thing...

Bah... one day I will be able to use my linux laptop to do things with my linux phone.

just install VMware or Oracle VM with USB support then you can run windows inside your linux machine

Yeah, I've currently got two instances of win 7, one XP and one server 2003 under Virtual Box on my laptop. Also have a few machines running under KVM on my home server. One of those ought to do the trick. Was just wondering if I could be a purist in this endeavor.

MAC OSX USB Drivers - Where to find???

Hi All,
My Wife's father has an SG3 and a Mac. I can not find the drivers for the Mac. Any idea where I can locate them or is there an alternate method for rooting on a Mac? He is a few to many states away for me to root it for him on my Windows Rig.

android-tools-adb and android-tools-fastboot are part of my Ubuntu distro, so I'm guessing those are readily available for most distros.
