Enabling adoptive storage in SM t800 - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
This is my first post here. I have just rooted my Tab s 10.5 sm t800 using Odin and CFAutoRoot per a guide i found on theandroidsoul website.
Honestly i dont fully understand what im doing with rooting, but it worked and ive gained root access to my device. Im really only rooting my tablet for one reason: i want to enable adoptive storage as my meagre 16gb is used up.
Now i want to use the twrp app to apply the ashyx adoptive storage enabler. When i select the ashyx zip file in twrp and hit install, my tablet restarts to the boot screen. Any advice as to what am i doing wrong? I havent been able to find a tutorial or relevant info.
Thanks in advance.

Sure, all you need to do is use the T210 root method, recoveries and what not. I have both my kid tabs rooted with cwm touch recovery on them using the T210 model.

Have you used the the cwm/twrp and root signed.zip from gr8nole thread Root Recovery for SM-T210/210R for the kids tab?
What kind of language support your kids ROM? I search a ROM which supported German.
Yes I used the cwm that gr8nole posted. There are no custom roms for the kids version yet but if you need german support I do believe I saw a german official firmware you can flash thru odin when I was downloading the US version.

Thanks, I really just wanted to root it. Custom recovery is pointless as I don't plan on any custom roms. Just wanna remove bloat. I was thinking custom kernel too, but I'm not sure whats out there that works with the kids tab. Suggestions?
Hi,
I have a kids tab 3 (SM-T2105) and a normal tab 3 (SM-T210R)...basically i purchased the normal one before the kids one and i want to add the kids mode app on the normal one...if i create a nandroid back up of the kids tab can i load that image to the normal tab?
i'm new to this scene and just trying to weigh my options...i tried the "mybackup pro" option and that didn't work...any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks

SM-T2105 Galaxy Tab Kids - Corrupted USB Connection
Monday, 13 October, 2014 04:44:05 PM - SM-T2105 Galaxy Tab Kids - Corrupted USB Connection
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all.
I've spent almost the full 2 days looking for solution of this but to no avail.
My tablet is using 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
I owned the SM-T2105 Galaxy Tab Kids rooted. Then suddenly I was thinking to move all my apps to SD card. Trying and trying, finally I realized that I need to make separate partitions on the SD card first.
So one of the solutions I found on the internet suggested to make that partition using the PC. Then I am interested to connect my device as mass storage instead of the default MTP connection. So I found this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.samsungusbmassstorageenabler&hl=en.
Without reading any further, I quickly installed it and turn on the mass storage function. But to no avail. My PC can't recognized the tablet anymore since then. Immediately, I quickly uninstalled that app and looking for another app. But still the same problem.
So finally I am stucked with "connected as an installer" whenever I connect the tablet to my PC. And the worst thing that, I cannot change it back to MTP/Camera transfer mode i.e. my tablet would immediately reboot! I was totally intensed since then. After trying and trying, I still cannot find the solution.
Then I thought a firmware upgrade will do. So i install the latest firmware for SM-T2105 - T2105ZHAND2 from here - http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/32189/T2105ZHAND2_T2105ZZHAND2_TGY.zip/. I also rooted it again then.
But still the problem persist. I also end up using the ADB terminal from my PC to issue the
Code:
su
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mtp,adb
reboot
But still the same problem. My device would restart immediately after issuing the command.
I have also found this code below somewhere but the issue is I cannot find that /sys/devices/platform/msm_hsusb/gadget/lun0/ path on the tablet:
Code:
Mass Storage Mode
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb
echo /dev/block/vold/179:33 > /sys/devices/platform/msm_hsusb/gadget/lun0/file
Return to MTP
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#!/system/bin/sh
echo "" > /sys/devices/platform/msm_hsusb/gadget/lun0/file vold
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mtp,adb
The nearest folder that I could find is /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage but no lun folder inside. Only nluns file is sound
So I am really stressed with this. Can someone here please help me out?
Besides of all those issues, turning off the Developer Options/USB Debugging would also make it restart on the spot.
Factory reset would be my last choice.
I was expecting something like system files update or something. Is it possible?
Thank you very much.

[Q] Unrooting Verizon s4 mini I435 HELP

I just would like to know if I were to root my s4 mini if I can unroot it and how would I go about doing so?
I have the S4 Mini by Verizon VRUAMK5 update.
I've researched on it and found that I cant use odin because Verizons stock rom for the mini isn't available yet. I've read somewhere I can use Verizons restore and upgrade app but I have no idea what that is. Unless its the recovery booting menu (Vol+>homebutton>powerbutton) and I restore this way and it will remove the root. But I don't know.
Please help much appreciated.

When you first connect your phone to the computer, for a minute there is a verizon_mobile drive instead of your sdcard getting read first in mass storage mode. while that is connected "verizon_mobile" drive open it up and execute the vzw ... assistant.exe app by double clicking and follow the prompts. afterwards when it is all downloaded and installed it may say you are up to date.
Use kies in download mode instead to unroot and go back to stock. or simply choose to restore it to.

[Q] TWRP Recovery HELP

Ok either I'm just plain stupid, or somethings wrong. Every link I try to get TWRP Recovery for my Tab 3 8.0 just gives me a damn img file that I can do nothing with. Can't mount it, can't burn it, and I'm certainly not finding the TWRP file. My Tab is saying no OS in TWRP so I'm trying to recover it, but I can't find the damn correct file :/
Thanks for any help
Listen @meffie you record shows you are an old user 2009, but This is your 1rst Post!!! So I have no Idea what knowledge you really have.
So you could be playing st2p1d for us. Or you in fact need a lot to read. So read, read a little more and if you have more time read what left.
First I do not understand why you are saying "My Tab is saying no OS in TWRP so I'm trying to recover it"!!!
I am juts going to clarify a few things.
There is a goo reading trad for you to try it. But understand that You and only you decide what thread to follow. It is all at your own risk.
Let's amuse you follow this one:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 > Galaxy Tab 3 General > Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Install Custom Recovery =>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525630
You may find there that you download "TWRP_T31x_r3.tar"
A "*.tar" type of recovery can be use by Odin, but it is more common to see a "*.tar.md5" The difference is that the one with "*.tar.md5" is more safe to use because it has a MD5 hash that is use by Odin to certify that the file is not corrupt before installing it.
If you follow the tread you are ask to:
Code:
1. Extract Odin307.zip to a folder on your desktop.
2. Copy TWRP_T31x_r3.tar to the extracted Odin307 folder.
So it tell you just to place "TWRP_T31x_r3.tar" in the same folder where you Extracted Odin. Yes the "TWRP_T31x_r3.tar" intact. No extraction needed.
Clearly you misunderstood and did in fact extracted "TWRP_T31x_r3.tar". And yes in fact you found your self a "recovery.img".
Using Odin is a Very Dangerous thing you can screw you device if you do something wromg. My best sugetion is for you to read more.
Now in the same general forum you may find:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 > Galaxy Tab 3 General > [VIDEOS] Galaxy Tab 3 7in How to root, recovery, roms, & Kitkat =>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459817
Yes this tread is not for you device, but it can give you a good Idea. In particular see: "TWRP INSTALL PLUS ROOT"
I have not seen that video nor I have a TAB3 7" nor 8" mine is 10". But I bet it pretty similar process. I do not know what the video shows but you could take my advice . DO NOT mark "Re-Partition" you will brick your device. In Options I suggest you let mark ONLY "F.Reset Time". As you see NO "Auto Reboot" neither. This will prevent you device from booting after it finish. So when are you going to know it as finished. Well you will see in Odin say "Recovery" while installing and after it finish it will change to a Blue "Reset". It is at this time that your are going to press [Power]+[Volume Up]+[Menu]. And TWTP will show in your screen.
Good Luck. DO not forget to READ.

No indeed I haven't posted. I just try and read. As I'm not heavily into rooting and moding, I have little to say, as such I don't feel the need to post.
I am legit in my question, and maybe I just need to be a little clearer.
I rooted the tab and have had it rooted for a while now. When I originally rooted it, I didn't realize I would've ever be able to update it again, so after the new kitkat updates came out and I couldn't update it, I decided I would unroot it and go back to stock.
That being said, like an idiot, instead of reading about unrooting first, I went into TWRP and wiped it, thinking that would restore the device. After I wiped it, it booted back into TWRP and now says "No OS installed".
I of course came back to the forum and started reading the recovery thread, although you did answer my question. I did not realize Odin reads the tar, instead of the imagine inside, so that's where my confusion came from. Now that I know I just need to give Odin the tar I will proceed and hope the I can get my tab restored. If I can't return to stock, hopefully I can just reflash a new rom. I'd hate to think my actions bricked it.
That being said, I appreciate you answering my question and not just assuming I'm trolling because I don't post.
I'll let you know how it goes, thanks!
So I was able to load the TWRP recovery through Odin, reboot back into TWRP and it is still telling me no OS installed. I'm not quite sure where to go from here. All the threads Im finding are about rooting and recovering, nothing really says anything about No OS installed. Any additional help would be appreciated.
I have included a screen cap for reference.
Thanks
When you wiped everything you deleted the OS. You will need to download a ROM or flash a stock through ODIN
Sent from my ATRIX HD using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for the Picture, I never seen that before.
*bmatney is right, the safe way to proceed is to "download a ROM or flash a stock through ODIN". This will require to download the 1.5G Stock Recovery. Listen I strongly suggest to download the Old 4.2.2 Stock Not the KK-4.4.2 one! The new one comes with new bootloaders.
*Not many people agree with me, but this bootloaders could be dangerous. Or ask the few Samsung SG4 users that got Stock with Lock booloaders!! Beware, make your own decision.
*Now I never seen this "No OS installed". My best guess is that TWRP should still allow you to place a copy of your old "Rom.zip" (the one you where using and should have available) inside the external sdcard and install zip from external sdcard. Do not forget to wipe cache and dalvik before installing.
*This is important, the original problem "after the new kitkat updates came out and I couldn't update it". I bet you you are a P5210 Wifi owner, And you had previously install old TWRP that all of us used. The problem is that that TWRP was build to be use in a P5200-3G model. So when in Recovery the Tab think it is a P5200 and do not allow you to install a P5210 Rom!!! The solution is to install new version from :
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 > Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Android Development > [Recovery] Philz Adv CWM 6.55.0 - CWM 6.0.5.0 - TWRP v2.7.1.0 - AROMAFM GT-P5210 => http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ockworkmod-recovery-6-0-5-0-gt-p5210-t2830871
But please do that Recovery change after you have repair and have a valid OS. Do not put you self in a position where you have no OS and no Recovery!! First install a Rom.
Good Luck
I got the stock 4.4.2 flashed, it's working again. Thanks so much for the help guys, I greatly appreciate it.

[Q] Recovering pics from SGH-I257 - Can it be done?

Hi all,
Thought I would bring this up again since it's been a while the older threads were updated and/or to see if anyone else has any ideas... Basically, I (stupidly) deleted all the pics off my ATT Samsung mini S4 SGH-I257 and would really like to get them back. No SD card, of course, so I need to access internal memory.
All the software programs/apps I've found require either USB mass storage (not just USB debugging?) to be enabled or a rooted phone. I'm no genius but I can follow instructions, unfortunately when I try to root using Odin, towelroot, kingo etc nothing works.
Is there any way from me to get these photos back??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

LG G4S / Beat / H735, can't find the ROM anywhere.

Hello all.
I've recently bought this LG-H735 and it runs Marshmallow. Only now I've discovered the issues with its internal memory so I'd like to root in order to use my SD card as default space to install apps.
Problem is, after a bit of search I used Kingroot and it seem to do the trick... until I restarted the phone and it soft-bricked into the usual bootloop. Can access the download mode but it gets stuck at 0% for hours.
Next step would be to flash but I've been searching everywhere on the web and I can't find the ROM. All links are either down, lost or just plain broken. I'd need the PRT version if I'm geting this right, thats what my phone box shows at least.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right way.
Any tips would be apreciated, still new to all this. Thanks in advance.
Also... a little question update if I may. Anyone recomend a nice custom ROM for this phone? Unfortunatly Cyanogen is not compatible it seems.
Thanks again.
