Issue with fingerprint scanner - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am using fingerprint to lock my device. The device was on the desk when my palm accidentally brushed the sensor and the device unlocked. I thought this was a one time issue but I am able to recreate the scenario with any finger or palm. I even asked my friend to test it out and it unlocked. All it required was just tapping the sensor and lifting immediately.
This is really concerning. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I am on stock ROM and unlocked bootloader.

i just tested mine .. its working good.. ! maybe try registering Fingerprints again !!

Registering the fingerprints again did not work. But a factory reset sure did. Hoping to not face this again.

Pixel Imprint : Detection [HELP]

I have some doubts on the fingerprint sensor region. Are we supposed to press the finger on the whole region all the time or is it sufficient to press some part of it? In my case, consider the region below the diameter of the sensor. I can see a line.. Only visible when I hold it up against the light in a horizontal angle. And when I tap the region below the diameter ie., Covering only the bottom 30 to 35% of the sensor. There's no detection at all. Is it normal?
And sometimes when the phone is idle for a while on the desk and I lift it up to unlock, it doesn't unlock on the first try. I have to tap again. I asked the Google support team and they said they're not sure if it's expected. Can anyone confirm? I have 3 more days left for replacement in my seller.
Thanks.
I'd say mine works if I cover 40% of the sensor whether that would be at the top or bottom. Have your tried re-adding your prints, when you do try out what ever is most natural to you and it should work everytime. Mine is flawless apart from when my hands are wet.

Yes I have done that multiple times. It's just that when the phone screen is off for a while, it won't unlock on first try. Have to tap again.

I'm assuming Doze is the cause. Which is a fair trade off.

Finger Print Sensor Problems Anyone?

Hello, fellow Nokia fans,
I have been using the Nokia 6.1 as my daily phone for the past 2 months, and it has all been a great phone except for the fact that the fingerprint sensor on this phone sucks a lot. Every time I try to unlock my phone using my index fingers it says something like partial fingerprint detected, try again.
It gets really frustrating at this point, the phone that I used prior to this was a Galaxy S6 which had a front facing fingerprint sensor, that made things much easier. Am I doing something wrong? Is the same issue bothering anyone else? Kindly help me in mitigating this problem.
TIA, Peace.
You can calibrate the same finger twice for more information for the sensor so it registers it more accurately.
I registered my fingerprint like I would register my fingerprint by habit. Now it works perfectly, and I have no complaints whatsoever.
Those in the US using fingerprints to unlock your phone (any device) be aware federal courts have ruled you CAN be compelled to unlock your phone with your fingerprint. You CANNOT be compelled to give up a password. The difference is something you are vs. something you know. Sure it is a pain to use a password/PIN, but think of all the personal information you carry with you in your phone.

you also have problem with fingerprint before you do register again? mine is only working when putting fingertip at center, unlike other phones like xiaomi that unlock fast and easy with any part of finger touching the sensor, I don't know if its the sensor smaller or it require more accurate scanning than other phones, it works but sometime hard to unlock when in rush or when finger is sweaty
In fact, this is the worst fingerprint sensor i have tried.
I have Nexus 6P, Huawei Mate 10 Pro and P10 with me
Nokia 6.1 fingerprint sensor keep showing partial detected when hand sweat, dirty or even normal case

Yeah, buddy even I fell the same thing, but someone suggested, registering the same fingerprint sensor slightly helps with the issue.

Yup, this does help out slightly
I did register 3 type of single finger, but still unrecognized in some case
Even the slightest amout of sweat and the fingerprint sensor fails. Thus I had to set up trusted face to make the unlocking process less painful. Unlocking this phone using the fingerprint is pain in the ass. I think the sensor area is too small that it fails to detect the parts of our fingerprints or it's not calibrated well.
I don' t mean to sound overly negative but the fingerprint sensor is next to useless unless you hands are completely dry and not sweaty whatsoever. The success rate is so low for me that I don't use fingerprint sensor on the 6.1 and went back to using a password - which is at least works consistently
i am using nokia 6.1 plus from past 1 year. the fingerprint sensor also works properly but the option of adding fingerprint suddenly gone right after updating the security update.. how to get it back? please help...

I have it under settings>security>fingerprint can you post a screenshot fir the same?

Biometrics are really poor?

Hopefully I am not the only one with these issues. I am coming from an old Huawei device, Faceunlock was instant, if it got the slightest view of your face it unlocked, On this you have to hold it up right in front on you which makes you look like a **** and even then it sits spinning, there is a good second or so delay.
The onto finger print again another disaster, very slow and sometimes just doesn't work. I've registered several fingerprints but doesn't make much difference.
The easiest option seems to be using the swipe unlock code method. Disappointed with this.
Anyone else having these issues.

Face unlock is good for me, it detects even from a far distance. Try registering your face again.
Fingerprint after may update has been improved but still not the best.
Add your fingerprint by pressing the same area of your finger continuously, (move it a little if it says "please move your finger or whatever" and then start adding the same part again) don't add the edges of your finger, I've noticed that adding edges/corners of your finger makes it slower to detect.
Yeah, this phone optical finger print is crap, the worst among other optical finger print phone. I guessed samsung enginer sniffing glue when design this phone
I haven't used the facial recognition, but the fingerprint scanner is pretty bad. I'm coming from an LG G6 and the G6 was miles better. I am hoping this is something that can be addressed in a software update, but I'm not so sure about that. Might just be ****ty hardware.

strange problem with fingerprint scanner

so I have my A70 for two weeks now and I am happy with it. the fingerprint scanner is okay, not as fast as the physical one but I do not mind. my security update version is 1 may 2019.
so yesterday I noticed that, at work when I take my phone out of my overall chest pocket I find it unlocked and many apps open. it did this consistently throughout the day. after a lot of experiments and investigation I figured out that fingerprint scanner reads the fabric of the overall as my fingerprint and unlocks the phone!! just the slightest touch of the fabric to the sensor and it opens immediately. so I went to fingerprints setting and through (check added fingerprints) I figured out what fingerprint the sensor was recognizing and I deleted it, but the fabric was recognized again and again until I deleted all of the added fingerprints.
when I went home I enrolled my fingerprints again and tested it on the fabric many many times and other types of fabrics also and it did not unlock, so I thought that solved the problem, but today at work the same thing happened again!!
I am really disappointed in the fingerprint scanner now, I really like the phone but I do not want to go back to PIN unlock.
so, what is going on?!
note: I work in an office and I had the phone for two weeks without problem and I always put it in my chest pocket, but yesterday and today we had site visit and it is hot here and I got really sweaty. may be the sweat is causing the problem?
Be it sweat or anything else, this shouldn't happen. Take your device to the nearest Samsung customer service center and tell them to have a mechanical check on the device.

I had this problem when I was on the older version. Issue went away after software update

Can't Add Fingerprint after update.

Hi, i just updated my Galaxy A50 and now can not add new fingerprint. It keeps saying "Make sure your finger cover the whole sensor".
Updated to november security patch.
After today's second November update, the accuracy of reading the fingerprint sensor when inserting new fingerprints has been significantly reduced. Either the sensor constantly warns you that your finger must cover the entire area of the sensor or prompts you to clean your finger or the glass of the display. These problems mainly concerned my right thumb when the other fingers were able to enter the cecek without major problems. The whole desperate I tried the method described here on the forum already described somewhere and within the scope of one fingerprint I alternated on the sensor and four fingers of one hand. All I was surprised to find out that I have registered a total of eight fingers at once and everything works great. Please try it, it costs nothing, just a little time. Bull****. Just keep pressing on the sensor, covering with whole finger and not taking it off immediately. Take your time.

It's funny if someone can't follow the instructions.... factory reset solve almost all sowftware problems with official firmware. I thought it's more than just human stupidity.
If your time isn't worth anything, then yeah, factory reset is a solution.
