For some reason my KF will only charge when the screen is on... I've tried using 6 different ROM's. Could this be because I'm charging through USB to walljack? I don't have the charger that came with it. Also, no matter what ROM I'm using, USB storage mode won't work.

Did you have the same problem on stock or just on other ROMs?
mine does that because the 3.0 kernel but if i reboot it show that it actually did charge might be your problem but im not sure
it will not charge while completely shutdown but if you go to settings about phone status the device will show charging if not unplug and replug till it says charging when it goes to sleep or standby it should continue to charge pay little attention to the led light its normal with the 3.0 kernel to act strange
Okay, so I get it, Timurs kernel is probably the best option for what I am looking for. With that said, I am reaching out to see if there are any free solutions to what I am trying to accomplish before I cave and purchase (after all, why spend 40 dollars if you don't need to)..
I am trying to install my Nexus 7 (2013) (it currently has the ElementalX kernel installed) into my truck as the primary stereo. I have encountered a few problems (kernel related) and wanted to see if there were any solutions besides Timurs...
1. Power issue, I drain really fast when the truck is not on... probably ~20% in 8 hours and when the tablet reboots, it doesn't detect the OTG is plugged in and charging.
2. OTG charging with FastCharge
3. JoyCon functionality. For some weird reason, when I push any of the car steering wheel buttons with the JoyCon, the lights flicker and the the JoyCon stops working. It works fine when I calibrate and when I plug it into the computer.
4. USB DAC (I am thinking about using the Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter, C-Media Chipset.)
So, I need a kernel that can put my tablet in a deep sleep, can support OTG charging, can handle the JoyCon and supports USB audio. Thanks and any help is appreciated.

Not jacking your thread, but yeah, I'm may be mis-understanding something, as I'm having the same issues, but apparently not too many others seem to be having this issue:
So here are my tests to document what I'm getting.
1st attempt: change /sys/module/msm_otg/parameters/usbhost_charge_mode to 1 RESULT: no charge/detects USB HDD/stable
2nd attempt: change /sys/module/msm_otg/parameters/usbhost_charge_mode to 1 AND enable OTGCM=1 in elementalx.conf RESULT no charge/detects USB HDD/stable for about 2 mins and then reboots, repeats..( loops).
3rd attempt: enable OTGCM=1 in elementalx.conf RESULT no charge/detects USB HDD/stable for about 2 mins and then reboots, repeats..( loops).
4th attempt: enable FC=1 in elementalx.conf RESULT no charge/detects USB HDD/stable for about 2 mins and then reboots, repeats..( loops).
So basically I can't get the tablet to charge as long as the hdd is plugged in. I did toy around with plugging the drive in after the boot, and it only charged on attempt 2, and 2 mins after detecting the hdd, the tablet shuts down and reboot loops as described earlier.

Yeah, aside from power, using an HDD is a completely separate set of issues that I haven't even starting looking into. I just want to see what kernel offers the best power options with the least amount of hassle.

1)Don't need Timur's ElementalX is free and has OTG, OTG+charging, and FastCharge.
2) If you want to OTG+charge the N7 you need the OTG-y cable. And then you can only charge no fast charge as the 5th USB pin is already in use for data.
3)Our issues seem to be 5V related. Most suggestion seem to advise on building better OTG-y cable and providing a self-pwred hub, which is what I'm trying next.

ElementalX is an okay kernel, but it doesn't allow deep sleep (or firm sleep, hibernate... whatever you want to call it) and when it reboots, it no longer recognizes the OTG Y cable is there until you unplug it and plug it in again.
The firm sleeping mode is key in car the car stereo hookup. Without it, you will be pulling the dash out every week to charge... (that's what I have to do). Again, I am running CM11 with ElementalX kernel. I have saved a little by dropping to airplane mode whenever I can.
hi, I am on Dr.Ketan ROm v12. from the past few days my phone constantly reboots itself till i connect to AC power. The phone reboots again constantly when the AC power is disconneted.
I thought it was a battery issue, however, the phone stays ON in recovery mode ( till the battery drains to 0% )
It may not be ROM issue as it works fine on AC power.
I have to connect the phone to AC power constantly to use it
Anybody with any suggestion, please help. !
So my XL keeps powering off on an over night charge and requires the cable to be disconnected for around 30seconds then plug back in and attempt to power it on with vol down and power key.
This happens on the H and V builds for the XL regardless of running stock kernel or a custom one or rooted and regardless of charger official one that came in the box or any third party charger using a type c to type c or a type a to type c.
I have re-flashed and factory reset this device twice now and it constantly does this every night without fail.
Any ideas ?
Further testing here resulted in no change :
However it appears the phone is crashing as you have to hold the the power button for 10 seconds to reboot it.
So I have gone back to the stock kernel and uninstalled any apps installed in the last week ( including TB ) i have enabled battery saver mode fully disabled DND and enabled battery optimisation on all apps ( this was disabled )
I'll be sticking with the V build ( November 5th update ) and shall only test with the supplied charger and C to C usb lead.
have captured a bug report and will dig into this and see if anything shows up
solved this turns out it was titanium backup app causing the issue
Narrowing down the issue with my Pixel 2 XL. Long story short, when the phone is unplugged and the screen turns off, it freezes and the only remedy is to hold the power button for 15+ seconds until it reboots.
But here's the weird thing... after this happens, the USB port only works for power - not data. But I found a way to get data back. If I power off the device, then plug it in via USB-C to the computer (Macbook Pro) and hold volume down while starting, it goes into Fastboot mode as it should. If I then boot to TWRP and then boot the device, USB data works again.
Tried:
Multiple full factory zip flashes to both slots, wiping all data
Multiple ROMs - LineageOS, Arrow, Pixel Edition with updated partitions, CalyxOS (Googleless ROM), Stock (Android 8 - 11)
With or without Magisk
The only thing I haven't tried is multiple versions of TWRP. Currently I'm using TWRP 3.6.0_9-0.
I've experienced similar screen-off freezing issues on this device and my Nexus 6 when using a kernel that has too low frequencies. But not sure if that's an indication of components going bad or what.
Some additional background on the issue here:
Anyone have their P2XL die out of nowhere?
I gave my P2XL to my wife about 6 months ago when her P2 had battery issues. She wakes me up in the middle of the night last hight to tell me the phone died. Won't turn on, won't charge, just dead. I've never had a phone do this before. Tried...

Any similar issues or suggestions?
Narrowing things down a bit more...
It seems to only happen once the screen has been off (or AOD turns on) for 1m to 1m 15s. Not sure if this is when Doze kicks in or what.
Is there any way to prevent the phone from deep sleep? I know some kernels have in the past by accident, but is there a way to do it on purpose? Since I only use this phone as a media device, I'm not concerned about battery life. But not being able to turn off the screen is an issue.
