Today i was restoring my backup of lineage os with twrp 3.1.0.3 and when it was restroring system img my screen went black with white led on. I managed to go into twrp by pushing the power button for few second and clean install the rom. Can somebody tell me what went wrong?

Please forgive me if this an easy question and i sound like a rookie!
Was running CM 7.0.2-vision
Tried to restore my original factory backup to return the phone back to t-mobile.(digitizer problem no big deal)
Did the "Install rom from sd card" within rom manager.
It went through the usual steps of re-flashing and reloading rom.
Then upon the reboot, the Phone got stuck on White/green HTC screen.
Waited hours, then rebooted, then rebooted again.
Rebooted with volume down power,
I get to hboot screen, then with "recovery" or "factory reset" option it takes me to cwm recovery black and orange menu, from there, no menu options i choose respond. the screen changes to all black with the arrow and hat logo, but it is doing nothing, when i hit the power button, it goes back to the main CWM menu.
Bricked??

I may not be understanding you. If you are restoring a backup, your supposed to go to restore in rom manager. Not install from zip. Or were you trying to install the stock rom from a zip file???
Thank you for your help and forgive me if i was unclear.
From within rom manager i hit manage and restore backups, then i hit the file dated on the day when i did the backup of the stock rom.
that booted me directly into recovery and it operated normally until it tried to reboot.
and here i am.
Okay, so I backed up and tried to use CM7, flashing it with a Recovery I don't remember the name. It looked a lot like Clockwork's Recovery. The bar didn't advance, it just said out of nowhere that flashing was done (I thought it was weird since it was too quick)
When I turned my phone on, the motorola logo would show up and nothing happen. I researched and found the way to get into the Recovery. Now I have these options:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe partition
This isn't the same Recovery screen so there's no way to restore the backup, and I can't find a way to flash something new. What should I do?
::EDIT::
There's no clear indication but I take it I should try this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853674), since I can also get to the bootloader, am I right? Don't let me brick this phone further.
Yea, I was thinking if I'm on this situation as well. Since my SonyEricsson X10mini pro has this custom recovery installed where you can boot into it by repeatedly pressing the back button(even if bootloop occured), and you're safe to restore if anything goes wrong with your phone during modding. But this CWMrecovery doesn't have that as it only accessible via the app menu to boot into recovery, so if Defy fail to boot then you're stucked, end up you need to flash sbf file again as there's no restoring option under stock recovery.
Does your led turn blue for about a second while booting? it should do it while on the motorola logo.
If so press Vol.down with the led still blue and you'll enter custom recovery.
If still you can't do anything i guess the easiest thing to do would be to flash another SBF in the bootloader.
It didn't flash the blue LED, so I flashed another SBF, and it works fine now. Thanks guys. I'll try flashing CM7 again today.
I try to restore to my twrp backup from VriperX 3.7.3 rom
After putting the backup folder to twrp, i use twrp and restore , it shows "success"
after restart, i can see the lock screen and able to unlock. But i can only keep on seeing a "HTC" screen with white background
whats wrong with my phone ? any wrong step in using TWRP backup?
after wait few mins, problem solved. ..
but now the Airplane mode keep on showing "Turning off..."
probably better just to re-flash the rom so it is fresh
Hello,
I was trying to upgrade my phone to CM 13 and made a backup on TWRP. When the upgrade failed, I tried to restore the system to that backup but it is now stuck on a bootloop. When pressing the power and volume up button, it doesn't go into TWRP but rather directly into the cyanogenmod startup screen where it is stuck. (Unlike this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/help-zenfone-2-stuck-bootloop-to-resolve-t3191035)
Hope you guys can help,
Thanks for your time
have you tried flashing through adb?, then get back to twrp and restore backup.
So out of curiosity I flashed this ROM(Sailfish OS) as suggested.Everything worked great. But the problem started the moment I tried to restore my previous ROM.IlI wiped everything except internal through twrp 3.0 to get back to my daily driver Lineage14.1. But the device failed to restore it.So i again cleaned everything except internal and flashed cynogenmod13. Which Showed no signs of error during flashing sequence. So i thought everything is working fine except for the fact that there are (may be) issues with my nandroid backups .But boy I was wrong! The device refuses to even bOotup till the ZUL logo.It just vibrates for hardly a second with a blink of white notification LED and shuts down itself. No matter whatever time you try to boot up it,nothing happens, not even the TWRP boots up. I am clueless now, help needed.
As far as I know, you cant restore backup made with different version of TWRP. for example, you cant restore backup made on 3.1.1 to 3.2.
It will give you soft brick.
In this case, you can try holding power button when its vibrating with white led and hope to boot to TWRP. If no, try to reflash TWRP through adb. If this fails, only QFIL...
