Hi guys, a quick question, do you know what screwdriver I need to disassembly the MI 5s?
I mean the first two screws near the fingerprint reader.
It should be a Torx screwdriver, but which size exactly?
Thank you.

I disassembled my Mi5s yesterday. I found out my torx T3 was a little too big. I would say T2 would fit
I did it with a triangle one, it says 2.0 x 40. But if you can acquire an T2 it would make it a bit safer I think.
Good luck!
Anybody knows where are the gps and 3g/4g pins?

Is there a guide to how this device comes apart?
I remember there was one for the xda II but is there one for the blueangel?
Many thanks
Taking it apart is no problem, I've already done that. What I miss is the replacement screen... :?
2 screws on the sides, 4 under the battery. Remove cover, remove the keyboard connector on the side and the screws that hold the PCB. Slide screen up, lift the PCB carefully and dicsonnect the 2 flat cable connectors.
Then remove 4 screws on the screen part, 2 at the top and 2 under holes at the bottom.
Any idea where to find the screen?

any one got the disassemble in pics by any chance. I wanna make sure i d it right without n e more costly mistakes. (the first costly mistake being drunkenly dropping it )
Thanks
Rich
Hmm, finally finished the disassembly (how stupid I am, had forgotten I actually had the suitable screwdriver bit somewhere in my mess)...
I have the Toppoly TD035STEC1 screen. Still trying to find a supplier, the one mentioned above does not really seem of confidence to me... :?
I might take a few pics when I have time

Did you ever get the chance to take those pics Kilrah, If you did I would be very interested to see them, I'm sure they would be of intrest to others too.
Cheers
yep they would, still looking for the cheapest supplier of the acutal LCD as well
n e one found cheaper than $225 http://www.pdasmart.com/pdaphonexda2s.htm
which is around £131 with the current conversion rates..
..originally an SPVM2000 (as u can tell from the keyboard)...with a 2s front casing...
Could explain a bit more how you did this and how easy it is do?
Cheers.
I bought an xda 2s housing off ebay for around 29quid. You will need a T6 Torx screwdriver to open the back. You will also be voiding the warranty by breaking the warranty seal to acces one of the screws. I followed the instructions for removing the back case, front casing and lcd screen from this link
-ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blue%20Angel/sx66_09.pdf-
Took around 30mins to complete...was not difficult at all...just being careful with the smaller components and cables.
Hope this helps. Feel free to pm me if u have any questions.
I want to replace the screen and try to disassemble. I can not not loosen the screws. I wonder if you have to use much pressure and force to loosen them? I don't dare to try anymore because I am afraid that the structure will be stripped away and I have to send the unit to service after all. Thanks.
Not to much pressure : it's very fragile...
I'm really disapointed of the internal construction quality : antennas for example... And plastics are really bad quality.

It seems like I can get hold of the screws with with screw driver, goes around without actually loosen the screws. Seems like the screws are already stripped even though the unit has not been dissembled before.
Thank you.

Hi Guys
I bought a full housing and digitizer on ebay for this phone (original parts) because I got it second hand and the case is a little bit too scratched and nicked for my liking (I'm fussy I know, but I got it for a steal because I swapped my old BlackBerry 8520 for it the guy couldn't live without BBM). I tried searching on youtube and everywhere else on the net but nobody seems to have a tutorial on how the digitizer disconnects from the front housing All I could find was tuts on a Galaxy Ace and other phones but not this one.
So my question is, has anybody ever performed an operation like this on this phone? And if so, is the digitizer glued to front housing or (even worse) glued to the lcd as well? The Galaxy Ace is glued to the front housing but can be removed with a hair dryer by heating the glue carefully and prying it apart. I have the detailed service manual for this phone from Samfirmware but it doesn't show anything about glue concerning the digitizer.
I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive and I am trying to prepare myself for what will be in store for me. If I can successfully change the entire housing, phone will be brand new again

Actually your unboxing post has helped me a lot At least the lcd is not glued in (from what I can see) so big thanks to you bro :highfive:
I have gotten the digitizer plus housing so I can throw the old (glued) one away and just stick down the new digitizer to housing. By the way there are a total of 8 plastic points where the cover is attached, so yeah it is hard to get off but the Level 2 Service manual explains it nicely

Well, it was still a sh**ty thing to do to a beautiful little phone that didn't deserve that kind of treatment, but at least some good came out of it I guess
You could find something useful in this link : http://www.xnotar.it/joomla/la-guid...uch-screen-del-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000.html
I think it is in italian, but it might help you with something...i don`t know exactly...

any luck with this? got a few small scratches on my screen and wondering if its worth the hassle.
Hey everyone,
Just saw that video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WimH8g-H2lE and I wanted to know if anyone has done this already ? Have you succeed ? Or maybe have you done it with other solder points ?
So yes basically, just want to know your opinions and feedbacks on this ! I'm really hesitating on doing it or not !
Thank's guys
I tried and got all the soldering done. However, the tiny board with components that came with the Qi sticker was too fat to fit into the Nexus 5x backcover. It bulged significantly to the point there was space between the back cover and fingerprint scanner around it. It looked ugly enough that I took it out.

Did you remove metallic rectangular sticker inside the back cover ?
