I got my nexus 7 a week ago. Everything is working awesome but I really worried about the hot issue on the back side under the top speakers. Whenever I surf web for not more than 5 minutes the back feels a minor hot, I only take 3 to 5 pics with camera then the back of my tablet feels more hot, when I do gaming(Riptide GP2) for not more than 10 minutes then at this point my tablet,s back become really hot after this I have to close the game and wait for the tab to cool down. Is anyone else getting this or only me.
Please guide me what to do I am really very worried about this right now I am on Stock 4.3.

mine gets hot too, but i installed elementaX kernel, Undervolting really helps keep it less hot
My tablet also was getting hot near the glass by the front camera when playing riptide 2 so I decided to root my tablet and the heat issue is now gone I'm running illusion ROM. also I noticed the heat issue was not there before the multi touch update.
The overheating isn't a universal problem. I haven't had any issues with heat in a fair bit of use.
Anyone noticed if their 8.4 gets really hot under heavy load like playing a game? I played anomaly 2 for 15mins and it's like touching your car's steering wheel that's parked out in a hot sunny day without shade.

hello there, my phone gets very hot in less than 10 minute on the top of the screen (where the camera is), playing the first level of dead space, for example gets the phone very very hot, i'm worried about that, i'm on carbon 4.4, but the problem is present on all the roms\kernels i used, but i'm wondering if my phone have problems, thanks for all the answers.
Hi everyone , some days ago , I purchased a
Galaxy tab 3 7. 0 wi - fi, I am a little worried
because I have noticed that when after some
minutes of turning on my tablet and being on the
internet, or watching videos on youtube , the left
side of my tablet ( I think it ' s where the
processor is located ) gets a little bit warm , I have made sure that there are no apps running and clean master says the tablet's temperature is fine even though it has 34-36 celcius degrees, is that
normal? , if not what could I do ? have you
noticed that with you tabets? thanks
I get the same, if I'm not mistaken it's the GPU (unsure it's a separate chip, not looked into it) as anything graphics intensive heats it up, videos, games etc..
Clash of Clans heats up pretty rapidly, poker doesn't as no real changes in graphics, also any game/app that uses timers or multiple timers are governed by what would be the RADIO side of the SoC chip, this can cause handset's etc to crash, I've had this happen with an ACER Liquid Express, HTC Desire C and this Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Hopefully nothing more than a reboot happens, it's not uncommon though

So I just got my Gear VR. got it all set up and started to play. first played Ocean Rift. I was bored in 5 minutes so i changed to End Space. 10 minutes in i was getting dizzy so I decided to stop and ejected my phone. It was noticeably warm and almost hot.I immediately so OH **** but then i realized maybe it was normal for VR use. Can anybody confirm this is normal?
It's suppose to get really warm, since the processor unit is working full load. But were you still able to hold it? It shouldn't be "can't hold it" warm.
not it wasnt to hot to touch but it was for sure very warm. warmest its ever been.
Same here I used the VR for around 20 minutes and it got very warm. That's the only time my phone got warm.
It even says in the vr manual your phone will get much warmer than normal. It's fine.

Gear VR 2 handles heat better. ?
Running Oculus will make the phone very warm. My Note 4 would get the overheating warning 10 minutes in while using the Gear VR. The N7 does not get as hot as the Note 4, but Oculus/Gear VR still taxes the processor and it is going to get very warm. I wish they had put a fan system into the new Gear headset along with it's own rechargeable battery. They were talking about doing those two things, but did not. Likely because the cost of the Gear headset would have to go significantly up to add those features. I sometimes put my phone in the freezer for 10 minutes before I play just to get it that much cooler so it takes longer to get overly warm. Sounds silly but it seems to help.
