Loose/Wobbly power button. - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

It has been a month using my Lenovo P2 and from the first day itself the power button on my device is wobbly. It feels firm when pressing the power button but feels loose while swiping finger over it. Also the sound 'tick' when pressing the button is a bit louder than any ordinary power button.
Is it the same with your device??
Should i repair it with lenovo service centre??(heard people telling that they dont handle phone properly and a new problem arises)
I wanted to know,is this a problem of each unit or only my unit has this defect.

Yes same with mine. It's kinda strange the power/volume buttons are loose when the rest of the build quality is superb. And the loud button press sound is a bit annoying, but I got used to it I guess.

Mines fine

I sometimes feels that lenovo itself loosens the button by fitting such a tight case out of the box.

i returned my p2 because of an screen issue, however i also had a somewhat wobbly home button. from the very first use 4/5 times it felt like a little loose or worn... so it's either very subjective feeling or their home button / quality control is ****.

P2's build quality is not up to the mark, along with the loose buttons the screen is also stretched at the edges and it nowhere looks like 2.5D curve glass

Xperia Z's Power button thoughts (harsh?)

I thought Power button design was a clever design by Sony when I saw it in pictures. When I got ZL I thought it was very nice but over time I started to feel it is getting harsh on fingertips. Now I am using upper middle area of thumb to press it as it hurts finger because of sharp edges and the 'clicky' sound it only getting louder. I recently got Xperia Tablet Z and I am now of the opinion that Sony overdid the design of power button.
I think it would have been better if it had spherical design instead of cylindrical so it's not harsh on finger. Also, it would have been better if it didn't pop up so much out. Now, the power button even makes a more 'click' sound than it did in the beginning which makes me feel it will get worse over time. I find the design of the power button on HTC is very nice and smooth except it feels little too small and not comfortable to reach on top.
I hope to see a nice rounded design with all buttons blended into the surface of the phone.
I like it as it is. Personal preferences vary.

I think it's a poor design. Mine has actually popped off a few times. I also wear a horizontal belt case when at work and can't guess how many times I've turned the screen on accidentally. The placement is ok but I feel it should be flush with the surface.

I find it to be perfect for me, to each their own. I hated the flush button design on the HTC 8X/One. Also this power button has the perfect amount of force and feedback. You know you pressed it, which is important.
I have a few days with mi Xperia ZL, but so far I find the power button quite comfortable, and unlike my Samsung Galaxy S3, the XZL don't turn on the screen by accident as much as the SGS3 ... maybe time will change my mind, but right now i'm quite happy with my Xperia ZL

Now have lost the power button. Need a pin to turn on screen. Going back to Sony under warranty. Be careful with this marketing gimmick.

Wierd, my power button does not do any sounds. Also I dont find it harsh on fingers. Try power button on, like, HTC One, now that harsh and difficult to press due to being flush (you have to squeeze it in with edge of your finger every time).
I got Xperia to very big extent exactly because of power button, and I think its very clever design, its very comfortable for me. Buttons located on top or closer to top are very difficult to press with one hand, making you prone to drop the phone. Buttons located on very bottom edge of big screen phones (like S4) are no better.
Granted, I see how it will require special case/bumper design because of this, but I just carry it in my pocket so don't care about it really.
Edit: sorry, just found that power button does inteed make "click" sound, but its extremely quiet. Not sure if it was better or worse before, as I never noticed it.
It's completely normal that power buttons makes a quiet "click" sound ! We are talking about physical button I would really like to meet the person "who has pain" (harsh on fingertips) because of power button on ZL Unbelievable No offence!
I love the power button on the Z and the one on the SP is even better as it protrudes a bit more. I think it adds a touch of uniqueness to the range.
I like it, nice contrast to the body and other buttons. Yes, it sticks out, which will be an issue for anyone not using a case. It's very unobtrusive with a case .. at least with my Incipio Feather. Also, it's fun to watch people try and find the button the first time or ten
had to exchange mine for a new one because the power button was loose and did not register half of the clicks. the new one has worked fine so far (a month and a half)
I like the power button. It could sit a touch higher, but other than that it's great.

Sony responded by telling me the device has "physical damage". No warranty replacement. $600 for a phone I used three months. Miss my ZL but I have no choice but to defect. In my opinion, a totally unacceptable response from Sony. The phone is like new with no power button. Needless to say, I'm disappointed and surprised.

Personally I like the power button,it's easy to find without looking at the phone and the tactile feedback is great. It also looks quite nice. I'd rate this the same or slightly below the Nexus 4's power button.

[Q] Could you please check the power button for me on your find "7"

Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if the power button on the left is the same height/resistant to your volume button.
I'm not sure if it is meant to be like this or a spring has slipped. But on my power button it seems to lye almost flat with the side of the device. It also jiggles up and down a bit like a seesaw when you run your finger over it.
Another way to describe it is if you run your finger over both sides so they feel the same height? As for me the volume button definitely feels further out/ strong/ less flimsy?
Thanks just for my piece of mind should others be like this!
Many thanks Jack,

If your power button doesn't come out of your find7, it's not normal, mine is out the same height as the volume one. And it isn't less strong than the volume button :/
But mine are a little bit lose to, they jiggle like you explained ! I think that's pretty normal
Hope for you that your find 7 is not broken !

Okay wow, that sucks, I guess I'm not going to return it just yet as I don't actually have a phone as I just sent my old one away , I'm also going to assume the turn around for this sort of thing would take for ever and then there is the reinstalling of apps and argh so much effort!

When shaking the G4, do you hear anything?

I noticed today when shaking the G4, it's making a sound like something is loose, does your G4 do the same thing?

No. Mine is firm as a mountain.
Yeah, I can hear the same thing when shaking my phone. The sound comes from somewhere in the upper part of the phone, maybe near the camera. Oh well, this is not a big deal but...A few stuck pixels, some black thingy under the glass that protects the screen, clicking sounds in recorded videos...What's next?

Clicking sounds in recorded videos is because of wifi/ bluetooth being turned ON while using camcorder.Turn OFF bluetooth/wifi and use camcorder and check , you wont find clicking sounds.
It's the volume buttons that make the sound. Nothing to worry about really. Try it. Wiggle the volume button a bit and you'll hear and see it.
In my case it's the power button. It's actually so flimsy that I'm concerned if it should be this way.
Yes, mine rattles near the ear piece. That being said, my in ear sound quantity recently degraded at volumes greater that half. This is my second g4 to have this issue. The audio sounds distorted... Like the speaker is loose?

It's not the volume/power buttons. It's the OIS.
All phones with OIS rattle when being shaked.
Solution: don't shake phone near ear.
Mine rattles slightly when side to side which is normal as the above poster explained with OIS camera phones.

Nice, actually someone posted already, it's the OIS system. I think this kind of thread is bought up in every OIS Camera phone thread

What do you mean it's not the buttons, I can achieve the same rattling by simply repeatedly sliding my finger sideways on the power button

Hold power button down firmly.
Hold volume buttons down firmly.
Put phone next to ear.
Shake like a madman.
Hear rattling.
Ergo: it's not the buttons. It's the parts that make up the OIS :good:
Ah, so the source of the rattling depends on the level of shakiness

Power button here is rock solid.
Exchange phone.
New one will still rattle though. Not the button, the OIS, like it's supposed to :good:

You mean no wiggle in the power/volume buttons at all? Gonna check some G4s at the shop tommorow.

Zero.
On mines, it's the volume buttons, not OIS or power button as if I place my finger on top of the volume buttons by just resting it on top without pressing down, the sound is gone when shaking.

or the OIS is faulty in this case

Power Button Recessed

Is anyone else experiencing issues with the power button on their 2XL?
I have the Black & White version and the orange power button seems to be protruding less and less from the main frame, making it difficult to press.
It's still quite "clicky" but in comparison to the volume rocker it's much more be recessed.

I've noticed that. It seems to fit a little more flush with the frame. not a deal breaker for me. I've got a decent screen... Can't risk a replacement lol
Mine still seems fine, been kept in a Ringke case since new so possibly doesn't get pushed in as far as a naked button.
I've had it in the Google fabric case since I got it which also covers the buttons. I think it also may have something to do with that...the fabric case button is much bigger and pops out more...and now that I've taken the case off, the actual power button feels less prominent.
I rarely use the button.
So, I activate the phone using finger print and turn the screen off using "screen off" app

Ah good shout. I've just activated a similar feature in Nova Launcher. Thanks for the tip.
Yes, same here. Orange button seems slightly recessed.
My dad just got his Pixel, and I have had mine for over 2 months. Both power buttons are identical. Protruding slightly less than the volume rocker. It's definitely not getting worse over time.
I've thought the same thing on the ones i've had but this was the 3rd one i've had and all have been the same spot. Has never failed me yet though had it since launch

Volume button wobble?

I bought device today, a and it's great including build quality. Only thing i don't like is volume rocker that is not firm as power button, it wobbles a bit up and down and sideways, like it's bit smaller than frame. But it works fine and have great tactile feedback, just don't like the rattle.
Anyone with similar issue, is it a defect or manufacturing tolerance?
Haven't noticed this at all. I guess if I really try to wobble it there is a very small amount, but I wouldn't have noticed without trying.

Mmh mine is wobbling too but I'm ok with it I mean it's normal...maybe yours is not ...I don't know if you can post a video or a link but would be great to see it
I think it's kinda normal, my friend has wobbly rocker too... I saw on YT that buttons are just clipped inside, like on Samsung devices, with "popping out" buttons.
You can see on 2:00 they are kinda removable
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpcteaANktk
Mine seems smaller than outside frame, so it has space for some movement, but I guess it's just manufacturing imperfection, not defect, and even if you happen to have a problem with it, you just replace it yourself.
