I noticed today when shaking the G4, it's making a sound like something is loose, does your G4 do the same thing?

No. Mine is firm as a mountain.
Yeah, I can hear the same thing when shaking my phone. The sound comes from somewhere in the upper part of the phone, maybe near the camera. Oh well, this is not a big deal but...A few stuck pixels, some black thingy under the glass that protects the screen, clicking sounds in recorded videos...What's next?

Clicking sounds in recorded videos is because of wifi/ bluetooth being turned ON while using camcorder.Turn OFF bluetooth/wifi and use camcorder and check , you wont find clicking sounds.
It's the volume buttons that make the sound. Nothing to worry about really. Try it. Wiggle the volume button a bit and you'll hear and see it.
In my case it's the power button. It's actually so flimsy that I'm concerned if it should be this way.
Yes, mine rattles near the ear piece. That being said, my in ear sound quantity recently degraded at volumes greater that half. This is my second g4 to have this issue. The audio sounds distorted... Like the speaker is loose?

It's not the volume/power buttons. It's the OIS.
All phones with OIS rattle when being shaked.
Solution: don't shake phone near ear.
Mine rattles slightly when side to side which is normal as the above poster explained with OIS camera phones.

Nice, actually someone posted already, it's the OIS system. I think this kind of thread is bought up in every OIS Camera phone thread

What do you mean it's not the buttons, I can achieve the same rattling by simply repeatedly sliding my finger sideways on the power button

Hold power button down firmly.
Hold volume buttons down firmly.
Put phone next to ear.
Shake like a madman.
Hear rattling.
Ergo: it's not the buttons. It's the parts that make up the OIS :good:
Ah, so the source of the rattling depends on the level of shakiness

Power button here is rock solid.
Exchange phone.
New one will still rattle though. Not the button, the OIS, like it's supposed to :good:

You mean no wiggle in the power/volume buttons at all? Gonna check some G4s at the shop tommorow.

Zero.
On mines, it's the volume buttons, not OIS or power button as if I place my finger on top of the volume buttons by just resting it on top without pressing down, the sound is gone when shaking.

or the OIS is faulty in this case

Had my desire just over a week now and loving it. But my power button has become a little bit rattley! If I tap on the back of the phone you can year it rattle and it feels if I were to catch it the wrong way with my nail it could rip it out! Anyone else got this problem?
I've had mine for a few days now, and I have a similar rattling noise when the handset is tapped. I didn't notice it before now. The power button does move a little, but doesn't seem particularly loose. My rattle continues even when i hold the phone with my finger on the power button, so I think its something else.
I would think if you contact where you bought it from they will replace it as it sounds like a fault....
Same issue here. I keep noticing it as I put the phone down gently on a hard surface. I've started to wonder if it's the camera lense, particularly as the quality of my photos taken with the Desire can best be desribed as poor - they are worse than my old Touch Diamond.

This might be the accelerometer.
Its the auto focus on the camera, my desire and hd2 does it as well and hero used to do it, its quite normal
Hey guys,
I'm just wondering if the power button on the left is the same height/resistant to your volume button.
I'm not sure if it is meant to be like this or a spring has slipped. But on my power button it seems to lye almost flat with the side of the device. It also jiggles up and down a bit like a seesaw when you run your finger over it.
Another way to describe it is if you run your finger over both sides so they feel the same height? As for me the volume button definitely feels further out/ strong/ less flimsy?
Thanks just for my piece of mind should others be like this!
Many thanks Jack,

If your power button doesn't come out of your find7, it's not normal, mine is out the same height as the volume one. And it isn't less strong than the volume button :/
But mine are a little bit lose to, they jiggle like you explained ! I think that's pretty normal
Hope for you that your find 7 is not broken !

Okay wow, that sucks, I guess I'm not going to return it just yet as I don't actually have a phone as I just sent my old one away , I'm also going to assume the turn around for this sort of thing would take for ever and then there is the reinstalling of apps and argh so much effort!
As the title said,
Anybody experience the same thing? My buttons quite woobly / rattling when I move it around, is this common? If not, should I return it?
Thank you.

My volume rocker is a bit loose but is very tactile. My power button is tight and tactile too.
Only my power button interesting enough. My volume rocket doesn't wiggle at all.
Since everyone got different problems does this mean it's a faulty unit? Or it is by design?
Desptite the woobly, my buttons seems to work normally, just rattle when you moved it arround quick enough and I can hear the rattling sound even when the phone covered in a case.
My volume rocker is loose. Not as loose as it was on my m8. Kind of annoying but most likely common. Power button isn't loose at all.
Mine is loose too just like it was on the m8. No biggie; the screen polarization is what gets me...
Volume rocker is loose. Rattles around. Works good though. Anyone else with a brand new pixel xl experiencing this?
Regards
Nope. Mine is solid.

Well if more people say the same I'm gonna return it. I would see they'll just give me a refund. I'm really not a massive fan of the device as it turns out. Which surprises me. Maybe the smaller one I'd like better idk
nope, mine is solid
I really like mine. I'm glad I got it.
So seriously guys. You're telling me that if you wave your pixel xl in like a fanning motion sort of rapidly you dont hear any rattle AT ALL.
No rattles here
Dammit. Last thing I want to deal with right now. Why couldn't it have just been solid like yours? All the anticipation and ugh. Not to go all emo but it makes me disappointed big time.
I guess in the am with my coffee I'll fire up this support feature and see how it goes. Subscribe to the thread as I'll be updating it late. Feel free to chime in with your experience. Need to know if anyone else has this issue.
Thank you all.
No rattle here.
No rattle here either
Sent from my Google Pixel XL using XDA Labs
I just received mine, I have 2 devices, a regular and an XL. If i shake them very fast in a top to bottom direction I get a tiny bit of rattling out of both of them from the buttons. Minor issue but solid would be nice.
So, at first I thought I had the same issue as you-- but the rattling persists even while holding the volume rocker and power button.
Are you 100% positive yours is the volume rocker?

Since you mention it...yes. Power button loose too. Both of them in fact.
I already had a support chat and they insisted on sending me a new device. Now we'll see how long it takes to get here.
The device is great otherwise. I would've held onto it for a while because it's def not a deal breaker. I really just wanted to reach out to support and the issue documented on their end at the very least.
I have the same issue with my Pixel XL volume rocker, its quite loose and rattles when shaking phone.
But also can hear something is loose inside the phone, just tapping with finger on the upper side of the screen while holding the vol rocker clearly can hear rattling from inside.
Also the power button press click is quite loud same with vol rocker.
Also screen tapping feels wired a bit, like theres empty space under it (like tapping the empty box)

I know there is already a dedicated thread for issues and I post it in their. But also stay right here that I had a major freeze and had to reboot the phone this morning. That's a little frustrating.
Apparently the rmas are going out overnight so I should have a replacement device soon. Dying to see if my replacement has the same problem. Pretty interesting you have all these people waiting weeks for shipping but I could be on my second device by the weekend already.

Thanks for chiming in. I must be out of my mind. I went to Verizon store that had a pixel XL in stock. Checked it out and it's the same as mine. Volume button loose. Rattles when I shake the phone ever-so-slightly. What are the odds that there was another device like that?

Didn't notice a rattle or looseness, but if I take my Pixel XL and do a jerky fanning motion it does sound like the power button or volume buttons are rattling. In normal use I do not hear any rattling and they don't feel overly loose. This was not the case on my N5. Those buttons rattled with just normal use (gently turning the phone over). They did address the problem on the N5 on later builds ( http://www.droid-life.com/2013/12/13/slight-hardware-tweaks-already-being-made-to-the-nexus-5/ )
I have two Pixel XL's, the buttons are very slightly loose in an an up and down motion parallel to the phone's screen. Nothing of major concern. If I shake the phone vigorously, I hear a bit of a rattle. But I'm really shaking it. Not something you would hear on a day-to-day basis.
The buttons feel very steady and clicky when pressing.
It has been a month using my Lenovo P2 and from the first day itself the power button on my device is wobbly. It feels firm when pressing the power button but feels loose while swiping finger over it. Also the sound 'tick' when pressing the button is a bit louder than any ordinary power button.
Is it the same with your device??
Should i repair it with lenovo service centre??(heard people telling that they dont handle phone properly and a new problem arises)
I wanted to know,is this a problem of each unit or only my unit has this defect.
Yes same with mine. It's kinda strange the power/volume buttons are loose when the rest of the build quality is superb. And the loud button press sound is a bit annoying, but I got used to it I guess.
Mines fine
I sometimes feels that lenovo itself loosens the button by fitting such a tight case out of the box.
i returned my p2 because of an screen issue, however i also had a somewhat wobbly home button. from the very first use 4/5 times it felt like a little loose or worn... so it's either very subjective feeling or their home button / quality control is ****.

P2's build quality is not up to the mark, along with the loose buttons the screen is also stretched at the edges and it nowhere looks like 2.5D curve glass
