SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE II GTN7100
Hello!
Ive recently took up a friend's Note II - he told me that a few days back, he sent his phone to a repair shop because he said his phone was infected with a virus. When he got it back - the phone was working fine a few days until one time - the phone suddenly cant detect sim card.
When he asked me - I presumed that the shop might did a reflash and it didnt go well/ not enough pressure on the sim to touch the pins .. etc. I tried every possible methods to solve this:
- Insert a small fold of paper behind the sim
- insert another layer of paper
- insert a thin layer of cardboard piece
- gently cleaned the slot tray
- retried the above methods again
- downloaded stock firmware file from "Updato" (cant download from SamMobile because all the links for my country arent working anymore nor from Samsung Updates since I have a crappy wifi signal and that website only allows one connection)
- I checked Updato's firmware status via Download Mode and Kies - seemed fine? It shows my country and says it;s official.
- Flashed, WIped Cache, Factory Reset, MULTIPLE TIMES.
Oh yeah If you guys are wondering whether I tested it out with other Simcards? I did it with 5 simcards already.
Its pretty Odd isnt it. For the n7100; The sim reader hardware is connected together with the SD Card's. So the SD Card part is working. Why not Sim Reader?
Anyways - I suggested to my pal to just try get a new sparepart from a legit shop (But Non Samsung). He gave me the green light.
-Ordered for Sparepart (Simcard Tray and SD Card Holder Ribbon Flex)
I installed and guess what. Didnt work.
Still "NO SIM" - SD Reader works fine --- Juust like earlier.
-_-
What am I missing here? Could it be the firmware's faulty?
Another thing I noticed which is odd is the IMEI isnt the same as the back of the phone. And when I tried to do emergency reset with Samsung KIES - I wasnt able to because my S/N is incorrect!
Can somebody help?

Its too far. I did flashed it with previous firmware (Stock). By any chance have you heard of Updato? Its supposed to be another site that provides firmwares. I dont know it's status (Trustworthy or not). I couldnt download from the trusted ones (SamMobile / Samsung Updates . org)

Updato can be trusted. (Heard of it many times)
How about flashing any other custom rom such as dn7 or eclipse as these are the most stable ones and your friend will get a taste of note 7 ui.

Well, i have shv-250k ver note2. Today i flashed 2 n7105 version modem. Guess what? I got "no sim inserted" status. Then i flashed back shv250k modem. Signal is back. So maybe u should try flash good modem file for your note2. Give it a try... Hope this help.

it's not a hardware issue, you already tried to flash the firmware but didn't work, try Flashing the latest one for your model (btw there is also this site), and if that didn't fix your IMEI, then I'm afraid you will need fix your EFS partition because it's corrupt, there is a tool here in XDA that might help you, but if you can't use the tool then give it to a technician(recommended), the technician uses Octopus Box to fix it, it's a machine with a software not just a software.

Hi everyone.
As i read on so many posts, my SGN one night just drop the signal. The day after, still with no signal, i checked that had no IMEI and unknown baseband.
I had tried so many "solutions" for this to work and still nothing.
It came (when i bought it, second handed from ebay) with slimbeam rom installed. I did nothing weird to it, just simply drop signal and lost IMEI and baseband. I flashed 4.0.4, 4.2.2 from google developers web, i changed the radio for a DOCOMO one, but still nothing.
As my english is not too good, i attached a photo that explain how is my phone actually.
Please, any help will be much appreciatted as i got $300 spend on this Galaxy Nexus.
Why would you use a docomo radio? Is it a docomo phone? Have you tried flashing any other radios?
Check to make sure the contact pins that read the sim card are not damaged.

My problem isn't with the sim card, it's with no IMEI and baseband at all. Thanks anyway.
I think i just killed it.
I was trying another "solution" i found on the web, and now the phone don't turn on.
I installed an APK from the market called GSII_REPAIR and after it says to reboot the phone, now it doesn't turn on.
I read that this app is for the galaxy S2 but appear on the search for my problem's fix.

First I would put it in odin dl mode and flash stock, that should get the phone to boot again. I understand your english isn't that good but can you explain what you have tried. Im basically wondering if you have tried to play with the nv_data.bin file in the /factory directory as this may be able to make the phone get some functionality back.
The reason for the the possible softbrick is cause the gsII repair was probably deleting and replacing the wrong files ... I would probably say that this is a corrupt EFS directory and would work on the techniques out there to repair that ... either that or you have the same problem I have where it is a hardware issue and there is no real fix possible .... One method that may work the best is to try and use QPST and manually input your IMEI into nv_data.bin file ... many possibilities I just don't know what you have tried

I try to turn it on ODIN mode, and recovery mode and doesn't turn on at all.
In the same post that i saw the app, say that i can do it manually by messing with those files (nv_data.bin) but at the end mentions a nv_data file that i havent saw on the factory folder. because of that i try with the app.

so if you can't get it into odin or bootloader you have either hard bricked your phone or the battery is dead ... usually you can still get it to trickle charge if you plug it in ... if the nv_data.bin file was not in the /factory partition then i would think in some way the EFS has been corrupted or you weren't using a file manager with root access since the file is a hidden file ... biggest thing now is getting it to boot which I can only think of flashing through the bootloader or odin but i don't know everything that is possible ... someone else would probably have to help you if you can't get into either of those
I tried to Root my Rogers Galaxy Note II using
howtoteachers.wordpress.com/2013/02/09/root-sgn2 (the first Option) new user I couldnt put the HTTP at the start.
And after completing all the steps My phone does not connect to my Mobile network anymore.
gives message to insert sim card for mobile services, obviously my sim card is in the device.
Help Please I need my phone Back!
Thanks

I have heard of people that when flashing their sim card's get fried. Try putting in another sim or go to the rogers store and just tell them your sim doesn't work in the phone. Don't tell them why just say it stopped working. Obviously don't show them your phone or let them touch it cause they will realize it has custom recovery and will void the warranty.
This is assuming that your sim card is in the phone and it isn't being shown. If the sim is being recognized and it isn't letting you make voice or data calls then I wouldn't know what the problem is.
Goodluck!
Yeah I heard that too
Yeah I heard that the sim can get fried but mine works fine in another phone just not my Note II.
I am going to try and reset it to stock and hopefully that will work.
I am new to this stuff. Is it possible to completely reset and wipe the root from the phone so they will not know that it was rooted?
Cheers
Bob
Hsve you tried a factory reset from recovery or from OS yet?
Also being new you should read up on rooting etc begore doing so.
I made a tutorial how to get back to stock via samsungs recovery tool.
Sincevyour phone is not borked, just try to do upgrade first, you prob dont need to do the EFR.
Scroll through and click the link to thegalaxy note 2 toolbox.
Nothings easier to root or unroot.
If it makes you unsurevusevthe Samung method via kies.
Note: it is recomended not to have kies installed when using GN2 tool box.
Make sure you READ, and follow eveything thoroughly.
The guy I tried helping out kept going back to odin, after I told him not to
Dontvuse odin until you are secure with what you are doing.
Odin can fail lots of chance for user error.
EFR when done right is always your best bet, and works 100% if your able to get to dl mode:
Hope this helps. Galaxynote2 toolbox link is in this thread:

Gl and post back!
Good afternoon all this is a bright Sunday in Halifax Nova Scotia. I would like to first apologize if this is a redundant thread so if anyone sees that my issue has been resolved elsewhere (and yes I have been at this for DAYS) please close this thread and point me to the right direction.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 from Rogers model i747M
Everything was working find until I happened to it lol :silly:
I installed ParanoidKANGdroid succesfully, after playing around with it I got a little cocky and tried to install other roms...
After reading up on the best roms for my device I stumbled upon Pardus HD (not realizing is was for the i9300 because I was all excited and didn't read.... just being honest)
So what I did was followed some guide (can't remember which one but if its imporant ill try and find it) to intall clockwork mod via odin. Successful
After this I booted up my phone and moved the Pardus rom to my internal sd as directed and loaded into clockwork recovery...
Now the directions mentioned to WIPE DATA AND CACHE so this probably wiped the working rom off my phone.
I then went to install off sd card, found the rom, and installed it, the install errored out and aborted. At this point I was still in recovery and rebooted :crying:.
Now my phone will not turn on, there is literally no life going to it. When I plug it into my pc I do hear a sound but its the sound of a device driver error the driver its looking for is QHSUSB_DLOAD.
What I've tried...
Download mode again (of course it won't work)
Finding that driver (no luck)
connecting some wires to the battery (poor man jtag; unsuccessful)
What I want to try but haven't yet as I don't want to mess it up further....
jtag (since I don't have it)
sd card trick to install bootloader (scared to mess it up) this seems the most promising but cant find the guide to me particular model
sd card trick using another working phone same model (don't want to mess up someone elses phone)
I would like to try every option other than sending it off before that ends up being my last resort.
Any help would be great appreciated. I thank you in advance.
Did you make the jig and try it yet? Cause that might be the last resort before sending it off...good luck bud!

So this may not seem as simple as it looks. my question is, is my phone hardbricked or softbricked? (just to be clear there is NO life, no led, no download mode, no charging, just QHSUSB_DLOAD when connecting to pc for which i dont have drivers) will this work in either situation?
Thank you so much for the help so far, i assure that i will most my journey and success with every step once i have this figured out. thanx again
I'm pretty sure it is that simple...jig worked great on my captivate and 1st Gen note both hardbricked....making and using the jig can't hurt you at all...try it and see.

my mistake was i chopped a blackberry data cable. found an original samsung one, chopped it, rigged it up, it works on a good s3 (friends) boots it right into download mode so the jig is working now. i will post on how i made it and what youtube video i followed later. however the jig isnt working on my s3. but i found a [email protected] pdf doc from samsung on how to use another s3 to flash bootloader. just need to find i747 boot recovery image and hopefully i can use his s3 to resurrect mine... any ideas on that method?
This issue has been solved!!! YAY
Okay ladies and gentlemen so my issue has been solved!
Here's how I fixed my issue!
I disassembled the phone I connected a Jig that I learned how to make through mobile tech videos, I then connected an external power supply by attaching two prongs to the positive and negative battery terminal at 3.7 mah, Then I shorted with a pair of tweezers the R 313 chip on the back of the motherboard of the phone. After a few tries download mode came up I disconnected the jig reconnected it and somehow the download counter reset.
Up and running on stock Rogers I 747M 4.1.1 Rom
If you buy your jig on Amazon for about $25 usually those ones actually come with a power supply port On the back of them so you don't have to actually hookup an external one. I'm not sure exactly what the purpose of the R313 chip is I found a leaked Samsung Tech service manual online to do this. That manual also asked for another S3 in working order to be part of the equation to force load a boot loader and then reflash to T flash However jumping the gun in this matter it actually worked if I'm lucky I'm happy if this is how it was supposed to work I hope I really helped someone. Thank you all for your help so far!
where on the board do you find th R313 chip. how did you know to rcognize it. Is the rogers mother board the same as the atnt i747

thanks for information you upload about your experience.
would you please let me know where is R313 is located on i747M main board,as I have the exactly same problem.
any help would be appreciated.
QHSUSB-DLOAD Stands for Qualcomm High Speed USB Download Mode.
This means your motherboard can't find working drivers to run, so it will try to boot from somewhere else.
(Which is the SDcard)
To put the sdcard with bootloader info is safe. Its like putting a CD into your computer, it won't make any changes unless its asked to change the harddrive.
Here is a T-Mobile thread that did it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439367
Here is the i747m image (only works if you didn't update to 4.3 from an OTA from phone company)

do you still know how to flash clockwork mod on the phone I have the I747 But the AT&T model from what I have heard the GS3's use the same process just different boot loaders
Also I did kind of the same thing with my phone but instead of flashing a rom I tryed to unlock a boot loader that was already unlocked and was for a different model lol :silly: .
I already know how to fix it I just need the Debrick img for the SDcard trick where you put the boot loader on the card it self
If you have seen the I747 At&t vision debrick img can you tell me?
I have the sdcard trick here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068 if you still need it it even has the debrick img for the I747M
Thanks

If you still alive can you refer to the r313.
thanks in advance.
They said it was from a leaked guide for the i9300, so there's a very good chance the Qualcomm devices fo not have it. They are very different devices and use entirely different SoC's, do it would make sense that the rest of the hardware would also be different.
Not saying its not worth looking into, just that its a good possibility since no one else seems able to find it.

Hello.
So my N7100 doesn't connect to mobile network. No voice calls, text messages or mobile internet. Wifi works just fine, although signal seems to be a little weaker (maybe just my imagination).
What I did and how it happened:
I got sick of Samsung being assholes and not pushing out software updates, so I decided to flash some custom ROM. I choose CM, because they had that "one click installation", so I didn't have to do a lot of work. After a week of using CM I decided that it sucks and wanted back my original android with all gimmicks from Samsung, mostly because battery life with CM was terrible, not even one day. And that's when everything went downhill. I downloaded and installed firmware for Baltic region, because I live here and I bought my phone here. From that moment my phone stopped being phone and evolved into wifi only tablet. After being very pissed and trying to flash couple different roms I gave up. Found my phones original box user manual and other papers. It turns out that my phone is made for Hungary region. So shop where I bought it must have imported wrong models (most likely cheaper for bigger profit). Flashing original for Hungary made firmware doesn't resolve this issue.
Guys, I really need help. I just want to return to stock - original firmware and reset flashing counter. Please help, and if possible in layman's terms...

Press *#06# and see if your EMEI is fine... If it says something like 000000000049 it seems to be bugged and you can try this solution:
I flashed the firmware N7100XXDMF2_N7100OLBDMD2_XME using ODIN PC and follow the below using root explorer:
- copy /efs/ to the sdcard
- delete /efs/
- reboot (after reboot I got the yellow recovery mode window floating over, no lock screen, and pressing power button turns the phone off directly)
- /efs/ will be autocreated again. copy the efs folder from the sd card to / (root explorer will tell you that the folder already exists and it will merge them)
- reboot
PS: I did not have an /efs/ backup before applying the above.

I saw from another post. Im going to try this too since Im having the same problem as you.
Find your ROM here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-N7100&pcode=CHE#firmware I selected Chile Entel, but you can choose your country and company, it is the original ROM and it should fix our problem, Im downloading the ROM by now.
To use Odin, just put your phone in download mode (vol up/down + home + power) and then plug in to your PC, open Odin and at "PDA" select your ROM, then put start and just wait a few minutes and it should be working again...
After this, you should make a back up of your EFS file using a root explorer and then flash with any ROM you want (Im trying Ditto 3, it seems to be a cool jelly bean) and after this flash, you should put your new EFS file... Just the problem that Im facing is how to put this backup since the EFS is a folder being readed all the time, so there should be a program to do this, but I cant figure this out yet.
My phone doesn't have any IMEI any more. "null/null" is value given by my phone after requesting IMEI. I already flashed original ROM, problem is still here.
About /efs/ I could backup it with "File Manager"app from google play, but I can't delete it, because it is in read only.

Somehow you will have to access to edit it and you will be able to solve that problem... Otherwise go to technical service.

In order to delete /efs/ you have to be rooted, when you flash factory rom you loose root privileges.

This is practically a cry for help after i searched for hours.
Model: Sm-n910P
Software version : Unknown
Android : 4.4.4
Baseband: Unknown
build: PVPU1ANK2
Stock recovery
(if anything else helps just ask)
Problem first: My note 4 has no network of any kind (wifi doesnt start , doesnt recognize sim card )
When i try attaching a usb cable i get Device is not recognized (checked drivers, cables so its software and it's the mobile)
The only communication with the device is via the SD Card.
Tried flashing a stock 4.4.4 via stock recovery. Nope! It says Update from external card is disabled.
I'm looking for a way to root , or flash anything.
Every thought, suggestion, idea is welcomed.

Never been OTA updated to lollipop OE1? That one doesn't allow downgrading to older versions.
Device not recognized with USB in what mode and operation? Security protocols for KitKat and Lollipop are restricted. Device should be recognized in custom recovery or download mode. Did you try Odin? Power down, download mode and flash the NK2 stock tar. If you're still having problems ##786#. Still having issues, try the NIE stock tar. Make sure you power down before flashing stock tars. Link to KitKat tars mentioned above; follow OP, post 1 for instructions.

For root, you need CF Auto Root for Note 4. You can also try TWRP Manager for custom recovery. It's in Google Play. But you don't have to root to flash in Odin. Samsung KIES is alternate method for restoring factory firmware or updates but some are confused by the serial number request; not recognized. Haven't tried it myself.

Tx for the reply.
Device is not recognized in neither mode (normal, download or recovery).
I tried ##786# but i dont know my msl and i cant find a wy to get it (im outside the US so the phone is not activated). I tried some "msl reader find my msl" programs but they cant get it. Any1 has some apk that may work in my case?
As for the flashing as I stated all I need is a way to flash stock but i cant get the PC to recognize the phone so im stuck.
EDIT 1 As far as I know never been updated (bought the phone in ebay)
I don't know if there's anything that can be done but get a refund. Sounds like you bought a brick. Was it always a brick?
Did you try another USB port? Try the rear port. If not, try a hard reset: wipe cache and dalvik and factory reset and try to reboot. Long shot would be a hard reset and OB7 update.zip; unless it's completely stock, the update will be rejected. But I'm thinking that can no longer just be placed on external sdcard. That may have to placed on the file system as if the phone downloaded it, itself.
It's safer to hard reset. If not rebooting to normal operation, time to pursue a refund.

So I was thinking about the situation you're in. I recalled the phone can be unlocked to use internationally on 3G only. Is it unlocked? It would also
need to set your carrier APN/Access points to get data.
If you own the phone, Sprint will give you the MSL number. Sprint can help unlock it and there's also this method but I don't know much about about it. There's also the hard reset method that can be done within settings.
Here's a method that was requested with a pledged bounty. But try Sprint first.

My initial impression was phone is bricked but not sure if a locked phone's WiFi is bound to regional USA that would cause WiFi connection issues? It's still possible the USB issue is not using a USB 2.0 port or a bad cable. It may not be bricked. Try reinstalling driver and/or another PC.

Well I tried everything u mentioned , full factory restore, wipe everything. I even tried update from external (since stock has no option for updating from the internal sd) but i get an error (update from external storage is disabled). The phone is practically a brick for the network part but I'm not sure I can return it back in the states as I'm in Europe. Any way i can root via some apk ?

I didn't think the root is possible without Odin for either the custom recovery or root.
eBay return practice would be to notify seller of issue. If no response, contact eBay.

Wouldnt the entire phone be soft-bricked (not just the network part) if you did the factory reset and wiped your phone but cant get the cable to recognize your phone on your pc ???
Or is that your current situation?
Well everything but network works. I can install apk's from sdcard, open apps etc. Next thing is the screen just got black and is not giving signs of life (didn't do anything it was charging) so it's going in a repair shop. Thanks everyone for the efforts. Case may be considered closed.

Well, good luck. Hope it works out for you.
As an after thought, have you tried connecting another Samsung phone to the computer?
