video chat apps hang (messenger, whatsapp) when making a video call - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm running a rooted Pixel XL with stock rom version 7.1.1 (security patch from December). Whenever I use Messenger or Whatsapp to start a video call, the recipient and I can see each other but can't hear me but I can hear them. Shortly after that, the app locks up and eventually displays the "app not responding" message. Switching from mobile data to wifi doesn't make a difference. Rebooting the phone and immediately making the same call temporarily fixes it and allows me to make the call. The next time I attempt to make a video call, it would exhibit the same symptoms. I've tried clearing the apps' cache, uninstalling/reinstalling the apps, and I've even tried clearing dalvic cache. It doesn't seem likely to be an outdated system updates/security patch issue since a reboot would make it work again. Any help with this is much appreciated! TIA!

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.1 Notification Problems

So I am currently running the Cyanogenmod 10.1 RC2 on my device. I will try to keep this brief here...
Before I installed Cyanogenmod, all the notifications worked perfectly; they would always show up, and I would receive the LED notification as well. After I installed it, however, it no longer tells me when I have a snapchat message, or a facebook message. And when I receive a text message, there is something that overrides the GO SMS notification LED and makes it not work correctly. The only way to make it display the LED reminder is if I go into settings>system>notification light and change the settings. I have messed around for a few hours and no luck. Any suggestions? (And a reminder, it won't display any notifications besides text messages)

Hey I've just run in to the exact same issue.. I'm hoping since I'm running a Nightlies build that it will be fixed from the next update but it's been doing it for a couple of days :\

I have the same problem after upgrading from RC5. I have tried clearing cache for apps and that fixed it for some apps like snapchat etc. but i still don't get messenger notifications after clearing the Facebook app cache.
Maybe clearing dalvik cache and a fresh flash would fix the problem but i really don't want all the setup hassle again (i guess a backup/restore of apps just would re-introduce the problem again).

Force closing/Sound issues

I am having a bunch of issues with my device, some of which I had with my first device, which i smashed the screen.
I get system FC, and many apps, mainly twitter FC alot. This happened alot with my first device as well.
If I open the camera while music is playing (Poweramp), sound comes thru the speaker for a few seconds. Embarrassing as i take the train.
Screen rotation takes forever.
I get vibrating notifications randomly with nothing new incoming. LED doesnt indicate a notification though.
Any thoughts?

When's the last time you rebooted your phone? Cleared the cache? Cleared davlink? Are you rooted? Running a custom rom? Installed a different kernel? More information about your set up is needed.

[Q] kitkat 4.4.4 not notifiying new sms

I tried searching but couldn't find an existing thread or anything on google. I've never had this issue before. I am on note 2 and just installed liquid smooth rom kitkat 4.4.4. I did full system wipe, internal sd card, and dalvik cache wipe 3 times in a row. When I get a new sms or google hangouts message I do not get notified by sound or led notify light. I do get a new notification in my pull down menu. I made sure volume is on max. I unchecked set phone volume to notification volume so they are separate. I changed the ringtone to something else. When hangouts was my default msg app I cleared system data, reboot phone, and logged in again manually. No sound. I then changed default msg app to the stock messenger app. Same issue. Everything else that would trigger sound on my phone works fine. Phone calls, alarm, time countdown stopwatch, pandora, music player, youtube are fine. Anyone else have this issue? It seems the only way I can make sure I have a new SMS is to turn on my screen. This is not going to work for me since SMS is the most used app on my phone. Can anyone confirm a bug in 4.4.4 for this or is this a liquid smooth bug? I didn't see anything in their thread about the rom. I am a day away from downgrading to an older version of liquid smooth 4.4.2
Thanks for your time.

Cache issues with XBMC

My device is rooted and has XBMC on it. It was working fine for a month or so but now I keep getting long buffer times with a message saying Cache full. I tried clearing the cache before but i still get the error. I did some research and what i found told me to apply the zero cache advanced xml. so I downloaded two maintenance tools. one being XBMCHUB maintenance and the other being Xfinitytalk's maintenance wizard. I've tried both and no matter what it always stops to buffer every few minutes and it doesn't buffer to the end regardless of how long i leave it paused. If i accidentally restart the show at the half way point it has to pause and buffer from the start over again (which is VERY annoying) and makes shows quite unwatchable
i am not sure what to do anymore.. clearing cache doesnt help, port forwarding doesnt help, zero cache xml doesnt work. at one point i started wondering if it was the sources but i've tried it on multiple plugins and it doesnt work but netflix works fine. has anyone else been seeing this problem? can anyone advise me on what to do?
I have the same issues as you do on both of my AFTVs. With my very limited experience with XBMC, it looks like the source being loaded down when I see these buffering and cache full messages. If I change to a different source or even go to SD source, no issues. It might not be the same for you, but this is just something I have observed because those cache full and buffering messages always BUG me!!

Bluetooth issues. Connecting to speaker causing severe lag.

It's really strange. The phone will connect to the Bluetooth speaker no problem... until I try to play audio. I get a toast message saying "song can't be played" and then the phone will become unresponsive for a few seconds, show the toast message again and then the phone will crash again until I turn off the Bluetooth.
I have done multiple resets, cache clears and used TWRP to wipe davlik. I'm currently on FreedomOS but this was also happening on totally clean, stock OOS.
Is this a known issue?
