Stuck pixel - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone.
Brand new P2 here, gotta a blue stuck pixel on right top of the screen.
It disappears on max brightness but is quite noticeable on grey/black colors and < 50% brightness.
Has anyone been able to deal with that ? All those fancy flashing app on the playstore..
Would lenovo care ? I just sent my unlock bootloader request allowing them to sit on the warranty lol. Not effective until 13 days though.
My last resort would be to deal with the seller but I'd rather pass on this if it's possible, terrible customer service (Cdiscount, french site).

It is a screen burn ,i have tried to solve problem with Screen Burn-in Tool app from Play Store
but no success, this problem have also few my friends with lg g4,i newer buy any lg phone again, lg is better to produce tv sets and wasmachines because as phone manufactures sucks.
Same issue here too, it isn't necessarily burn in, more image retention I guess which tends to happen to some LCD's, tried all sorts of things to fix it, if anyone knows how to fix this that would be awesome
Guess we'll have to either get the device replaced or replace the LCD

If it's retention the LCD won't have to be replaced. Just wait a little, and it's gone.
And it inst always there, it knows to disaper.
And one more thing, it constantly changin, for example now i see 12:30, and for 2 minutes i will see 12:32, not one picture burned in.
Sorry for my English, i hop you will understand what i trying to say.

Its pretty bad retention if thats the case, not permanent...only really see it on grayish backgrounds....Ive left the phone off for days...switched it back on and within a matter of minutes my status bar is burned in lol
Same problem here pink burn that appears only on gray with a few minutes of use.
I was wondering if its just my device or not.
And now that i know that is the case i guess switching the phone display will not solve it.
I am getting this issue as well. Pinkish tint (when there is a light grey background) and image retention on the top of the screen and I can see those little icons. Did you get the problem after motherboard replacement due to bootloop issue? I am regretting my decision in purchasing LG G4.. :crying:

It is the display, friend of mine replaced his and he no longer had this issue.
I think he ordered a $70 USD replacement off Amazon and did it himself since LG requested for him to send the phone to Taiwan.

To be honest it does not really bother me,the only thing is that i can not put a gray wallpaper :/.
And when you mention this i think it actually started only after i got my motherboard replaced because of the bootloop but i might just did not notice until than..
And no regreting is needed alot of people that i know with s6 are not so happy about it..and the only other option was m9...so.....if you like me and had no choice the g4 was the smartest choice lol and i am quite happy with it...

Well i was talking about that, if you would give your phone to lg they will replace with the same display..so i dont see the point...
And the replacement displays you cant tell how are they as in brightness battery drain and color accuracy...
I guess if it will get worse than i will probably replace it..for now its fine enough lol

Meh...it's really not a huge problem lol, it grew on me after some time and it doesn't bother me anymore
Hasn't gotten worse over the past 6-ish months or so, so I guess it'll stay this way
I'm from Jamaica so sending it to Taiwan is going to be a bit of a problem
But as for the replacement part, I definitely get what you're saying, I asked my friend about his for the purpose of this thread and he told me that the battery life is the same, brightness/quality is similar to the original display, worse case scenario if you need to change the screen I'd say go for it.

I have found a some kind temporary workaround ( i don't know is that correct language expression in english so sorry for that )
Mainly here is what I did : I have flash latest SUPERXE kernel for stock rom android 6.0 from here , after flash from Play Store I have installed app Kernel Adiutor ,from the drop-down menu selected Screen section and aply this settings :
RED=230
GREEN=235
BLUE=235
Minimum RGB Value=35
Saturation Intensity= 30
Screen Hue=0
Screen Value= 125
Screen Contrast=127
After this no more red colored retention on gray background, not even in TWRP recovery.
This solution is only for rooted devices with unlocked bootloader,I hope this will help You
After kernel installation i have run few times antutu benchmark,so maybe this is also have influence on screen refresh.

This worked for me, too Thanks for sharing.
Anyway I will try warranty soon.
Dear guys, 12/2015 I have same issue that burning, my local warranty service ok change a new LCD, it is very OK after replacement, no burn any more. But after 6 months the same issue come back, it is hardware issue. LG always have issue about hardware in flagship more than other competitor.
Not a G4 owner but I have used a G4 before as well as a V10 and a G5, currently own the V10. This issue is present on all three devices and isn't a question of if it will happen, it's a matter of when it will happen. I noticed this issue with my display a few months ago and the entire affected area has a weird yellowish hue to it which is most noticeable on a lighter grey hue and as of now have grown used to it to a degree: still annoys me a bit. Also had a friend whom I recommended the G4 to and he had this issue with retention since he got it though he barely notices it since his phone is almost always set at 0% brightness
Anyways, at this point the main cause for this as I've said in a couple of threads is the display technology itself. I'm guessing this is one of the side effects Quantum Display has for offering near-amoled quality with vivid colors and blacks in comparison to regular LCD panels. Basically, even replacing the display is a temporary issue and still a lottery as you may get one with no issues until a year later or one that already has retention out of the box.
At this point, I might even tolerate amoled displays or non-Quantum Display lcd panels but it's too bad LG makes great phones. Oh well, just another thing to keep in mind when getting a phone from LG

I started getting this burn in and i am 95% sure that it didn't happen before. My G4 was in bootloop so i sent it back and i think that they replaced motherboard. After about 2 months of usage i started noticing this and as i said i am 95% sure that it didn't happen before motherboard was replaced, only if i didn't realise that but i am sure there was not this problem. :/ :/ :/ Is it actually possible that it is coz of motherboard replacement and that it can't be fixed even if i replace screen?!?! ((

It's not a motherboard issue but a display issue. With the G4, V10, and G5, there will be displays that will have retention out of the box or in a matter of a few months and then those who don't get it until 2 years into use or in fact, never at all. Only solution is replacing the display but that's a bit of a lottery in it of itself as you don't know if it won't have its own issues and I'd imagine constantly buying new LCD digitizers to grow costly that you might as well just buy a new phone altogether.
Bluelight Filter
Try " Bluelight Filter " app from Google store , I had the same problem until I used the app .

Question about Dead Pixel!

I got my 1+3 yesterday and I have to say that this phone feels perfect just like the way 1+1 felt for the first time, I'm really happy with it
Back to my point, Day 1 Struggle 1
Actually I've a little blue pixel just below the recents button of my softkey (see attached pic). I guess it's a dead pixel, kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
I purchased this phone from Amazon India and I don't know whether you people know or not that in India we have received a year of damage protection for free with this purchase but now due to this dead pixel I'll have to get my money refunded and then after the complete procedure of return I'll have to order another one as the terms of that additional warranty specifically says that I cannot refund/exchange the product once purchased.
My question now, is this dead pixel thingy contagious or something like that? I can manage with this single blue dot but I don't want to see my screen filling with more dead pixels after some time of usage.
If anyone can confirm this within few days then I won't apply for refund.
I hope I was clear with my question and if not please pardon me as my english is not really that good.
Just to make it more clear and precise, I am asking whether I'll have more dead pixels in future because I already have one on day 1 itself.
Hoping to hear from the experts soon
i guess u can try to disable softkeys and see if its still there if so, then more than likely a dead pixel if not then must be an issue with softkeys, i never use them so i would have never noticed
@Bradl79 Yes I can still see the blue dot even when the soft keys are disabled.
So now I know that it IS a dead pixel.
What do you say should I replace the device (though I'm not bothered by one single dot but I'm concerned about coming months and years)
if u r with in ur warranty period yes, if u dont, i would recommend getting insurance on the device (i use squaretrade, but i do it as a tablet and not a phone b/c its cheaper) just in case it gets worse later
I guess then I will send this one back and get refund
Also Xiaomi event is coming up on 27, may be they will launcher 64 GB version of Mi5.
Will decide after the Xiaomi event then.
Try testing your screen, with Screen testing apps, that paint out Primary colours, so that you can confirm if its dead pixel. Also give a shot of reset/factory restore. Also check if this appears, even at Recovery or during Boot animation.., If you're fond of MI5, you will miss Stock android yet get a handy phone..!
Cheers..
I already tried an app showing solid colors on full screen, it did let me see that pixel more clearly.
Situations when I see that dead pixel:
1. When screen brightness is low as that pixel is covered by brightness of other pixels
2. During boot
3. During charging when phone is already off/shutdown
4. When I put wrong finger on scanner, I see that pixel for fraction of a second.
Definitely it's a dead pixel, but I, again, want to confirm just one thing. Is this a big deal as I don't even see this dot unless I actually want to see it, I am only concerned about the coming months & years.
And as far as Mi5 is concerned, I do like a thing or two more in it, just like you mentioned that it's smaller and it has a infra-red blaster.
Last point, I trust Xiaomi more than OP for long-term software updates.
But the thing is, as you may already know, Xiaomi only launched the 32GB version of Mi5 in India.

Screen ghosting LG G4

Hey guys,
Yesterday I noticed some screen ghosting on my LG g4 on the top right where the battery icon, signal status etc are. I turned it off for 6 hours and noticed it got slightly better then i used an app which stimulates all the pixels on the screen for about 8 hours by flashing different colours. After this all ghosting went away but after i used my phone for about 2 minutes it made a new ghost. Please help me fix this permanently. I am currently using the same app with the intention of keeping it on for a full day.
It can't be fixed. However you could replace screen.

Honestly LG has given me the worst android experience to date. Had the damn phone for 3 months an it was the taiwanese g4 which has no way to unlock its bootloader. The worst part is that the screen ghosting came up on the same day i decided to sell it and buy a oneplus 3 instead. Now i wont be able to sell it for a good price and that means i can't afford the oneplus. Never buying from LG again.

I understand exactly what you mean.
i have it also and it's ANNOYING as hell!!! I returned mine 2 weeks ago not only because of this but also because i cannot see nor connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Just 2 months prior top this the phone killed itself (not even 1 year old) and had to get a new PCB. LG if you are reading this, i want my money back.
Note to the people, please don't buy LG crap!
LG G4 bootloop
The bootloop - problem on all the LG phones from the main series is caused due to a less safety check in fabric and causes cause the processor releases from the mainboard during heat, mechanical load etc and the connections were broken! To fix, the processor have to pushed back on the mainboard with heat - I think a hair dryer is a good way to do that
If there are any other problems with the CPU itself - I don't know but sometimes the processor itself can be partially damaged
I've even a G4 which has stoped working on June.04.'17 and I'll try to apply this step in a professional environment. (you've to fully open it, put a hair dryer on the processor, heat the processor and push it down on the mainboard) The best video on yt to do that: search for "LG G4 BOOTLOOP FIX REPAIR VIDEO"
>>By holding the vol+ -key and plug in the USB-cable it bootet once... ..and works... ..but then heats up! - That might work for quick saving data on the PC!<<
I hope that could help!

How to make a warrant claim in UK

I need to make a warrant claim for my Pixel 2 XL in the UK and I don't know where to find the details of how to start the claims procedure or process.
Google's website takes me here;
g.co/PixelPhoneWarranty
But that just lists the warranty conditions - how do I actually put in a request to make a claim?
I bought my phone through EE, but I want to use Google directly rather than EE as they're rubbish and haven't been helpful. Plus if they replace my phone it may come back with an unlockable bootloader ?
I've got very bad blue shift and unresponsive screen edges. I'm on 8.1 android which was supposed to fix the screen edges, but it hasn't for me.
My build date is 30/09/2017 so it's a very early build.

Contact Google store support and explain the situation to them. You can go to settings and the scroll all the way down. Select support and tips and you should see an option to call or chat with Google support.
You can contact support through the help menu in the settings on the phone. Took me less than 20 minutes to get them to agree to replace my phone under warranty
Thanks, I did that but they have refused to consider my claim.
I have unresponsive edges on my screen when playing games - mainly in the corners and severe blue tint.
They say blue tint can't be changed (which is fine but mine is quite severe compared to others) and the touchscreen is software related so I should submit a big report.
What are the reasons other people have returned theirs and been accepted?

Black smearing on the screen at low light levels, looked like ink blotches at the side, full thread with photos here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/bad-backlight-uniformity-t3708026
Google have now agreed to replace my Pixel 2 XL after speaking in chat and sending them some photos of the issues.
How long does the replacing process take? They're doing the standard RMA because I bought mine from a third party seller. I'm just worried about it being stuck in Christmas post or them receiving mine and being closed over Christmas so I'd be stuck with my ancient spare

burn in

I bought pixel xl second hand. Its unlocked u.s.a variant. When I got it it was on November 2017 stock 8.0. Navy bar was fine and I never turned screen brightness up. I was aware of the burn in issues before I bought device. So I got it home after a few days decided to flash latest stock image which was DEC 8.1. After a week or so I started to notice it. The dreaded burn in Nav bar. That I'm aware of the guy I bought it from paid cash from best buy and had no warrenty. Is their a fix or solution. Thanks I'm guessing their isent but if somebody had this issue and fixed plz kindly gimme some suggestions. Thanks
I've had this issue for quite some time, I had to RMA one Pixel XL for it, which Google replaced after me sending it over to Germany (UK here). I have just decided to live with it, and will be replacing the phone in October for 2018's iteration. Given that screen burn in was such a big issue with the Pixel XL 2 - I am hoping that Google learn from this, maybe even allow full immersive mode to users in settings.
Downside to an AMOLED just don't leave the display on for long periods of time and you'll avoid it if it gets really bad only option is to RMA

In my opinion that shouldn't happen, or Google should implement a feature to allow immersive mode by default.
Weird thing was when I bought it it was on 8.0 Nov release as soon as I unlocked bootloader and updated to 8.1 within 2 weeks it happened and the guy I got it from had phone for about 4 months with no issues.
Only solution Is changue the screen,i got image burn and i buy the screen un Ebay cost 80$ the oem and 95 y wrigs
