Moto z play with imei and without signal - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

How are you!
I hope that someone can help me with this, I had installed the Nougat version of January and everything had worked totally normal for 3 months, so yesterday I put the device in airplane mode for a couple of hours and when I removed it I have no signal. Then I decided to install the latest version of Nougat in this case with security patch March, and the problem is still the same, I do not have the problem that my IMEI has been deleted and besides that I start to be without signal with the equipment Fully functional, everything started when I put it in airplane mode.
Does anyone know it could have happened? My device is XT1635-02, my IMEI appears perfectly in IMEI information and in SIM status
Also I already probe with other SIM and neither is that, I have reinstalled three times the last Firmware of March the first time without the modem commands, and the last two times includes the modem commands and I continue without signal and obviously without loss of IMEI

[975/977] Recognize Sim but no signal

hi, first of all: I have been searching for solution to this problem for ages but the problem still persists
I bought the phone a while ago, worked pretty much perfect, I experienced some random signal lost but right after restarting or some minutes the signal went back, so after some months and after changing my phone screen my signal disappeared completly It once worked with my friend's sim card but just with that card and just one time, I tried differente sim's and operators but got no sucess, the phone recognizes the sim but the signal strenght is null (X)
I already tried the following options:
reset
hardreset
5 different roms (cyanogen, and some stock 975/977 roms)
flashing another modem
4 differente sim's
didnt tried anything related to the kernel, this may solve my problem? seens like my problem is related to hardware problems, I dont know..
additional info: my imei is not blocked or N/A but my phone cant recognize my sim number
Additional info: on the fastboot menu the baseband is "N/A", is that value normal?
Thanks in advance:

Mam be hardware issue ..,..
You should give it to service center.
What is the probability that a hardware problem caused it to put the device in airplane mode for a couple of hours?

If I had installed the first version of this post, from February to the beginning of this month it worked perfectly, then I put it in airplane mode for a couple of hours and I left without a signal, update to the last version of March and I still have no signal , I have not lost the IMEI

Moto Z Play not showing VoLTE for specific JIO Sim

Hello Everyone,
I need some help regarding the network issues for Moto Z Play.
I started this thread because after doing a lot of solutions, resets and still it wasn't successful.
So here's the story -
Two days ago my brother gave me the phone which was in excellent condition (VoLTE working, Battery Performance, etc.) working on Android 7.0.
Then he did a reset on the phone from Settings so I can use it.
When I inserted my SIM Cards in the phone, I got network and everything and immediately I received an Update for Nougat 7.1.1. I installed the update and then when the phone booted, I did the setup and everything. But l wasn't able to get VoLTE on my phone. There was no Enhanced LTE Mode option in Settings. I thought it was something temporary and maybe after sometime I will be automatically resolved but it didn't.
The next day I started researching over the internet and found clearing the cache or data of settings or hard reset from recovery/settings will do and I did it but none of the solutions worked. Then I thought it was the SIM problem but it wasn't. I inserted the same Jio SIM from my phone into another VoLTE phone and it was working. I also tried another Jio SIM in Moto and it was showing VoLTE and everything was working perfect. Also I inserted my idea SIM (which was in SIM2 slot) in SIM 1 and it was not showing even 4G range (Just 3G) (The idea SIM is also 4G).
I tried everything - Swapping SIM cards, resetting the phone, Clearing cache, etc. I don't know why this has happened as my brother was using the same carrier sim in same slots (SIM1 - Jio|SIM2- Idea).
I also called the JIO care and they took the complaint and they told me they would look forward to it in 48 hours.
Also, my bootloader is locked and can I flash original stock firmware? (I guess that's only thing left I haven't tried) If so, please provide the link and guide to flash the firmware.
If Anyone has a solution please help me, I am in big trouble.
Get a new sim card for your number. Don't ask why. But this will work, trust me.

Thanks man, I was too thinking of that and went to JIO store. They had a server error and will be back available in 4-5 days. Will then post with new SIM results.

A520W WiFi keeps dropping after upgrading to Oreo

My wife and I both have SM-A520W phones. I OTA upgraded mine while travelling in Europe (risky, I know) and didn't have any issues with it. I waited til we returned to upgrade hers, and since upgrading, she has been unable to maintain a WiFi connection beyond a number of minutes, e.g. 5-30 minutes.
I downgraded her phone to Nougat (A520WVLS2BRD2 / A520WOYA2BRD2) using Odin, and things returned to normal. When the July 1st patch (A520WVLU2CRF2 / A520WOYA2CRF2) for Oreo was released I tried upgrading it again over the air, and the WiFi issues returned. Unfortunately after upgrading to this version, I can no longer use Odin to downgrade to Nougat, as it results in a "kernel rev check fail device 1 binary 0" even if I don't load the bootrom. I tried doing a fresh load with Odin of the latest Oreo release as well, but the issue persists.
Any suggestions on either how to downgrade to Nougat, or resolve the WiFi issues on her phone? It seems surprising to me that one phone works fine, and the other one fails repeatedly on the same network and carrier (Freedom). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi. I have the same problem. Were you able to resolve the issue?
Unfortunately not in any way that will be helpful. Took the device to an authorized Samsung repair place, they ran diagnostics, and then offered to swap the main board. They did that, and everything has been fine since.

Could have been a software bug. Personally, I would have got a new phone rather than getting a new motherboard.

Moto Z Play XT1635-02 lost IMEI, custom ROM and avoid Hard Brick (again)

Hi everyone! I am new here in XDA Developers.
I have been snooping around since 1 year ago or so, and I found this site when I hard bricked my phone.
Well, let's start the story:
I bought an used Moto Z Play from a friend, excellent phone, 10/10 functions and aesthetics.
Once i had the phone in my hands I wanted to ROOT it, because I wanted to hack games and stuff. The phone was in Android 8.0 (Oreo), but since there was no root for my phone and OS, y proceeded to search the latest OS that could be rooted. I found out that it was the android 7.1, I think. Well, since I wanted a "clean" installation in my phone I downloaded the original ROM, and wanted to update it like many people do, via OTA. I installed 6.0 (since it is it's original ROM, from factory), all good. The update notification showed up, I accepted; it updated to 6.1 or sth, then the 7.0 update, updated, AND finally came the 7.1. Once I updated, it bricked. HARD BRICKED. I panicked, since I wanted to give away this phone to my dad. I found out that I needed a blankflash. I searched through a lot of forums, some even in russian, and chinese. I found out and accepted that the blankflash for the android 8.0 never came out. I gave up.
Since then, I learned that I MUST NEVER UPDATE VIA OTA. I learned it the hard way. I'm sorry for my stupidness.
Then I bought another motherboard from another Moto Z Play. I installed it and discovered that the ROM wasn't STOCK. That's because when I turned on the phone it started in bootloader everytime. The new motherboard came with Android 8.0 (Oreo) but I'm sure that it is a custom rom.
Well, the phone is now working perfect, but NOW, I have a problem.
I want to use 2 SIM cards in it. The first SIM card works fine, calls, mobile data, Wi-Fi... everything is good.
BUT the second one, from a different service provider, does not work. I inquired and found out that it was a problem because my phone wasn't, apparently, unlocked for other providers. I tested the SIM card with other phone, it worked. In the Moto Z Play, I saw that the APN info was correct, it detected all the info, but could not make calls, no mobile data. Wi-Fi was good though. The SIM card is fine, but the phone is locked.
I need the IMEI, MY IMEI, lol, but it is a problem. I tried calling to *#06#, the message shows
┐
IMEI
0
└
and in the settings -> system -> about phone -> status -> IMEI info, it shows nothing, BLANK!!!
that's why I think it is a custom room, and I have a problem.
The phone works fine with the first SIM card though, and I really like it. But I wabt to use the other one too.
My question is, should I install another ROM in the phone? I'm very afraid that it could HARD BRICK AGAIN.
What do you guys recommend? Should I try it or leave like this?
Now I don't really care if I can ROOT the device or not, I just want it to be functional and solve the "unlock line providers" problem. It could be fine with the 8.0 oreo or 9.0 pie, I don't mind, although I saw in other forums that I should not downgrade again, even if my phone has a custom rom and the new one is custom as well, so, i think the 9.0 pie could be good, but the oreo 8.0 is fine as well.
A guy in another forum could recover his IMEI with a somehow, interesting, process.
I will try to translate it since the original is in spanish:
┐
I experimented with several ROMs, and I tested one with android 9, the name is "The XPerience Project", but the Wi-Fi didn't work, so I decided to go back to the Stock one. I tried a multime times and days to restore my IMEI, but I failed at all. I decided to try another custom rom with android 9. I noticed that this one had the IMEI and it worked perfectly. An idead popped out of my head: a backup. In test mode, I entered in recovery mode and make a security backup of the MODEM and EFS folders in a MicroSD. Once the process finished, I instaled the stock rom agin in my device. Once it started, it had the same problem: the IMEI was 0 and had no signal. I installed the recovery TWRP again and made a restoration of the backup thet I saved in the microSD. The MODEM folder could not be restored (it showed an error), but the EFS was restored. I started the device once more and it automatically foun the signal and the IMEI number was re-established. My Moto Z Play is DualSim, version XT1635-02. I hope that I could help with my solution. Cheers!
└
My Moto version is the same: XT1635-02
Has anyone recovered their IMEI?
If someone could tell me what should I do, I would be very thankful.
Cheers! :highfive::highfive::highfive:
