The battery of my almost 3 year old Tab S 10.5 is showing its age. The tablet still works great and I rather replace the battery than spending hundreds on a new tablet. The problem is that there are loads of companies selling the batteries on Amazon and eBay. The reviews on Amazon are mixed with some buyers from the same business saying they work fine and other say they don't work at all. Can someone who replaced their battery with positive results inform me where you purchased it? Thanks

I bought two of these OEM on ebay for both of my Tab S. Two months going strong and even have 2017 manufacturers stamp!
I have tested them extensively and they are not disappointing.
App won't let me post direct link but seller's username is gdcdirect. Easy to replace by googling it and watching videos. Best of luck

Thanks a million. I couldn't find gdcdirect on eBay but I found it on Amazon. It doesn't appear to have the tool kit though. I'm going to order it anyway.

You're welcome. Really no need for a toolkit. Just credit card or other thin plastic item to pop off the back. Just take your time and be sure to watch the video and put back together in exact reverse order. The cable clamps are also plastic and can break easy, but there are only two. Scale of 1 to 10 for technical skill needed, barely a 3 imho. Best of luck. Let me know how you make out.

Before I ordered from Amazon I checked eBay again and was able to find the gdcdirect battery on eBay. Their batteries are probably the same on Amazon and eBay, but just in case I ordered from eBay since that is where you got yours and it's a little cheaper.

You can buy a toolkit at Walmart for a couple of bucks. It's back in the cellphone section. It's in a small black and red case.

I received the battery from gdcdirect today. It came very fast from California to New Jersey. It was very easy to install and it has a January 2017 date so it is fresh. It had a 55% charge on it so played around with it for a couple of minutes before putting it on charge. I was surprised to find that the tablet is much faster and responsive. I wasn't expecting that. I was just looking for better battery life. I guess after almost 3 years the tablet slowed down so gradually I didn't notice. There is one small concern. There is an area about the size of a marble that's pushed up on one side. I attached a picture but it is really hard to see in the picture. Since It's working OK maybe it's no big deal but I'm going to bring it to the attention of the seller and see what they say.
I'm trying to find a good source for a replacement battery for my Tab S 8.4, too. I've purchased 2 different batteries from gdcdirect on eBay. The first one worked for a couple of months, then started failing. The 2nd one was bad immediately. Now I'm gun shy and I don't know where I can find a reliable vendor. Anybody buy one that has held up for more than a few months?

Ok so I was asked to update this post. Some of the information found throughout the thread is below:
The battery cover can be found at: cnn.cn
(thank you NoNameAtAll from this post)
The cnn.cn part is just the case, no retail packaging (ie. no media dock adapter.)
jjwatmyself in post says that you remove the insert in the car dock and it will fit the atrix with the battery cover.
digital.aaron in post has some pictures with the cover on the phone.
jjwatmyself has some pictures here.
digital.aaron says in this post: it's very different from Otterbox's rubber. It hasn't picked up any fuzz from my pocket, and I've got on fleece sweatpants. Used to be a nightmare for my 'Box'd iPhone.
Some problems people were are having, the sides are flimsy (you get used to this) and the different colors seem to have different textures.
=============OLD POST===========================
I bought the atrix from AT&T and I ordered a ruggedized battery cover from some website for $30 w/ shipping. My question is as I have neither yet, does anyone have the cover and is it good? Does it feel like it will protect the phone a bit and help hold the phone in the hand?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I'd be interested in this too. Asked a while back and it seemed no one has tried them, because there were no responses. I don't want to spend $30 on one if it feels cheap or doesn't fit right

Well, if no one else has tried I already ordered it so when I get both phone and cover in I will update this thread. It might be a while as I am stationed in Japan so my mom will be sending me the phone Tuesday or Wednesday and it may take a week or two to get here.
oh by the way I ordered mine from After market Cellular. Anyone have any dealings with them, are they honest?
This is the specific one I bought:
http://www.aftermarketcellular.com/ic/89490N.html
I've been looking at one of these batter covers but several sites that I have checked show an estimated ship date or out of stock. Have you received a shipping confirmation for the battery cover yet?
These are rubberized battery covers and thus replace the stock plastic cover. They are from Motorola and are rumored to be out about April 15th. This is why several places show "out of stock", because they aren't out yet.
I have not recieved a shipping confermation, but the store was not showing them as out of stock r estimated shipping date. Now that a320ca said they are nto supposed to be out until the 15th I am worried that the store is a sham because it never told me that.
FYI, I just called them and they said they are out of stock of the Blue one. She asked if I wanted her to check stock on the Green one but I already knew what the answer would be. Store doesn't appear to be a sham but then again, you might want to look into your order if are expecting it sooner than later.
I hope there will be pictures of the cover when people get them. I an intensely eyeballing the green one.
I've also ordered one, from 123cellsupply.com.
I don't have a shipping confirmation yet, either. I've put in several emails to find out the status, but no response yet.
Does the ruggedized battery cover wrap around the front at all, to provide a small protective lip around the screen?
Has anyone actually seen one of these in person?
These are in stock in my local bell store for 29.95. I might consider getting one of these

Really? Where's your local Bell? In the GVA by any chance? I ordered one from Bell online, because it didn't seem like there were any in stock in the Bell stores here in Vancouver... Admittedly, I didn't try very hard to find them.
But my order is still pending, turns out they're out of stock online...

Yes it wraps around the entire phone
They do look nice.... but to be honest, if it's actually silicon.... i dunno if i'd want it. That's basically my issue with the Otterbox cases. That outside cover attracts dust from alternate dimensions of your pocket. I can't imagine what the rugged battery cover might look like if it's the same material.
i want!! thats simply awesome. i wish amazon had green dangit

I'm not inclined to believe the capacity claims, but if it at least offer close to 3000mAh that would be decent.

Update
Update on my experience with this case. I already tore the leather for the flip front cover, so to me that part is poorly made. I simply cut it off since I didn't want to see that tear all the time. On Saturday upon receiving this case I fully charged both my phone and the case and started using them both around 4 PM. With normal use for me the case died today around 10 AM and I have been running off of the phone battery every since.
I can't say that I'm going to use this case every day as it makes the phone a little bulkier than I would like, but for me, this case will come in handy more often than not. Overall, I am happy with my purchase thus far with the exception of the tear. We will see how it does after several charging cycles.
I'm not too much of a fan of flip cases. They conform you to use the device as a book or in landscape orientation. If they made a version that would flip upward like a traditional paper note pad as opposed to off to the side. definitely buy it if one was made like that. I wish mophie would make their charging cases for the note 2.

Update:
I had this charger for less than a week now and all I can say it.....WOW and I will order 1 more for a car-mod.
It does require 5V 2A power inverter and it also charges my new G7 (2013)
Even my N4 has a thick casing, it was no problem with this charger compared to other Qi chargers. Placement is also not pinicky.
anyone have anything to add here? why shouldn't I buy this?

Yeah, I just bought a Nokia DT-900 from ebay for $24.99. It's a little more, but I trust Nokia over this brand over the long run.
It looks like I got the last one. The other ebay prices are a bit higher starting at around the mid 30 dollar range.
UPDATE: Just checked and it seem AT&T has the Nokia for $36.75 and free shipping ($49.99 at verizon and Amazon).

^^^ This. I ordered the samsung one for 24.99 and it came in yesterday. I'm quite happy with it. Its not huge but its not small either. Hard to miss the sweet spot when putting my N7 on it. Also, its a known brand. My old N7 charger has a 2amp out put so I use that power brick with it and it works flawlessly so far.
I want one that holds the N7 at an angle so you can set up daydream.
Just ordered a MWT03S from the website in the OP. Will report back when it arrives and I have tested
For those of you also interested in ordering, the "S" at the end of the model name means that it has that slick aluminum bezel around the rim. For $2 more, I think it is a great investment

This may be your best option at the moment. Though I read that it only works for charging in horizontal mode (or is it the other way around?).
But for $70, I'd consider one of the cheaper options and bills some kind of a stand myself that I can build out attach the qI charger to.
I don't want to spend a lot of cash on a QI charger especially since we don't yet know who standard is going to win in the end (QI or PAM, other? ).

I grabbed the Nokia charger from Dailysteals, but it sucks. It barely charges my Nexus 4 if I keep its clear case on (30% overnight), and it doesn't charge my Nexus 7, even in landscape.

Just a heads up, I received the charger mentioned in this post, the 21$ from appydeal.. its total garbage, buy a hockey puck, place your device on it and pray. Will be just about as effective.
It does charge wirelessly but using it the nexus 7 is virtually impossible, you have find the exact spot to place their small puck to charge it.. and even then it charges at a rate of like 5 points per hour. its barely enough to keep at the same battery level with the screen on.
I also have the nexus 4, even with that device being so much smaller i still have to place ti down and shift it around to the exact spot to induce charging..
TLDR: trash, save your money, my guess is the OP works for the site in some way
Hey guys, have you noticed, Google is a bit lazy this year. I still haven't seen sign of official bumpers on the play store and my phone won't last more enough without a case. Anyone knows when will they be released? I mean come on, it's been two weeks Google. Hurry.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, they were supposed to release the official charger according to several sites as well. I wonder what the deal is!
I'm in the same dilemma too . I'm tempted to buy another case , since i'm scared i might drop my phone, Hope it comes out soon.
Google wants people to break their Nexus 5 so they will buy another Nexus 5
I'm really getting sick and tired of the supply problems with Google... Every single device that they release has supply issues and accessories are even worse. How hard can it be to make more devices for launch and have the official accessories ready to purchase at launch?!
They hype their products and "leak" details to get people interested and then don't produce. It's very frustrating. Anybody should be able to buy a nexus 5 or any accessories at launch and have it ship the next day.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
For $35, there are better cases to spend your money on.
They released it for a few minutes on N5's release day, a few people bought and got them, they haven't put it up since then
The official Google bumpers are terrible. They're bulky and they feel cheap. Not to mention they're not truly bumpers since they cover the back. I really don't recommend them.
I would not be surprised if they are working on a real bumper to replace the one they have now.....something like the N4 bumper would be nice

Not sure if anyone knows about this site. It's like going to ChinaTown of your local major city and buying goods from their market. It's rebranded, backdoor manufacturing, knockoff, products that didn't meet the tolerances, type of things. I saw some GNex phones on there a week ago or so. There is a ton of stuff that is legit on there, but at super huge discounts to what you pay anywhere else.
Here's another forum I'm on and what they have to say about the site. Most of the problems come from looooong shipping times. You have about 10 different shipping options. Can take anywhere from 2 - 6 weeks. 8 and it got lost in customs or stolen off the truck. But they will ship you another or refund you if that happens. Most of the problems we have with ecigs are batteries. Most of the time they get taken in customs before even leaving China. When that happens, FT gives you two choices, refund or attempt again.

I don't see any problems with customs and an unbranded TPU case. I don't mind waiting a couple weeks for it to come in the mail. So I picked up 3 of these. One in black, white and blue.
