A520 2017, How to revert Knox to 0x0 from 0x1 after rooting - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi,
can anyone help me to revert A520f 2017 Knox to 0x0.
Unfortunately I tried to Root my A5 2017, I am luckily successful to root my phone, but after that I realized that I will not receive OTA nor able to use sHealth app.
So I downloaded stock Rom and Totally re-flash everything(AP, BL, CSC...).... Although it remove the Custom recovery + super user etc. But when I tried to Open sHealth App, it saying that "Due to new Security Policy Samsung Health cannot be opened on a Rooted device. 0x110040581".
So, Is there any way available to reset everything means to bring it to zero position?

Can you tell me is there any way available to use Samsung Health App. I am not worried about knox tripped nor warrenty clain... but worried about using default Application, OTA and Patch etc.
Would it possible use all these using root? Or any other way available..
Eg. I was using xposed in LG G3 which having small app like root clock. Which allow to fake those app which were not working on rooted device. But knox case seems different

No I dont want to hide root explicitly , I just want to use Samsung Health Application, if there is any way available to by pass the error message
"Due to new Security Policy Samsung Health cannot be opened on a Rooted device. 0x110040581".
Kindly tell me, either by hiding the Root Or Editing any file

I just told you, to bypass apps that detect root you need Magisk su.

There is no way to restore knox, so... rip Shealt

Yes eFuse Chip is to blame....

You are able to use samsung health after rooting.
you have to be rooted again and i would recommend using TWRP + Magisk to root so it is systemless and you can still pass safetynet after rooting.
you will need to download TWRP, Magisk v12.0, dm-verity patch.
1. put magisk v12.0 and dm-verity patch onto the sdcard in the phone
2. flash TWRP
3. boot into recovery and swipe to allow modifications.
4. under wipe there should be a button to format data (its in the bottom right). you will need to do this to flash magisk and dm verity.
5. flash dm verity and THEN magisk
6a. boot into phone and complete setup to get to home page.
6b. download any systemless root app that you want (adaway works you just have to turn on systemless host files in magisk settings + viper4andriod has a module in magisk that you download for it to work)
(DO NOT TURN ON HIDE MAGISK UNTIL THE END)
7. download the app buildprop editor, open it and grant it root. search for the line ro.config.tima=1 and change the value from 1 to 0.
8. reboot the phone and you should now be able to use s health.
continue following if you wish to pass safetynet and be playstore certified (set up your root apps like viper and adaway before doing this)
9. go into magisk settings and enable the setting Magisk Hide. reboot phone. check that you pass safetynet in magisk manager after booting up again
10. go into app manager, find google play store, tap storage and then clear the data.
11. open app again and you should be certified. (this took me a few tries. not sure if it was play store needing to update the property or me needing to reboot the phone)
12. Yay! your device should now be able to pass safetynet and will be play store certified in the play store app. you should soon be able to see netflix in the play store again.
source: I done this on my a520 just on the weekend to be able to update netflix

Google PAY with unlocked bootloader and root

Hello
Is there any possibility to use Google Pay on rooted device with unlocked bootloader?
I have used magiskhide, but my device still can't pass safetynet test.
Any ideas?
Yes mines working fine with oos, unlocked and rooted
ok, thanks for reply!
make sure you are using the latest magisk zip and apk, it should pass the safety net
Magisk, SuperSU won't work
I have disabled xposed and now works great.
So xposed was generating problem, not rooted device with unlocked bootloader.

Hmm ok, but as i know flashing custom recovery is mandatory to root. I'm new on OnePlus but in my previous cells flashing TWRP made it impossible to OTA works (because of TWRP not a original kernel).
Hi guys,
I have found a method to run google pay with,
Xposed - active
Magisk - cts profile - false, basic integrity - false
No need to install magisk hide or shell hide.
Just a simple trick.
Video uploaded on youtube.
https://youtu.be/DV_XmlJDi2o
Why not just tell us here instead of a YouTube link?
Go to settings -> application list -> google play services -> permissions -> DISABLE PHONE PERMISSION
This works for me. Try it once.
On some Pie ROMs, it doesn't work even after passing SafetyNET and hiding root using MagiskHide. The only option here is denying the Telephone permission for Play Services and re-enable when you're done. You'll have to do this everytime you need to make a payment.
I created a Tasker module to do this everytime I launch the app. Just run the shell command in Tasker:
To disable permission:
Code:
pm revoke com.google.android.gms android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE
To enable permission:
Code:
pm grant com.google.android.gms android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE
yeah I have an essential ph1 and android pay will run on it just fine (pie/magisk hide) yet will not run on my oneplus 6t with stock oos/pie/magisk hide. but I'll use the telephone permission trick if I ever need to use it.

side effects root and unlocked bootloader

Probably been asked thousand times before but I want to get a samsung A7050FN specific answer to this query.
What features and functions would stop working once I unlock bootloader and root with the mentioned procedure on A70 thread?
This phone is near perfect for everyday driver except It needs some Titanium backup and viper4android along with few minor UI tweaks.
If some nice smartsian provide a list, I can peace fully proceed with rooting and bootloader unlocking
secure folder will stop working, also you will need to update your device with Odin.
Since Knox will be tripped, you won't be able to use "Knox features" like Secure Folder (there's 3rd party apps that do the same), Samsung Flox, Samsung Pay (if applicable), Samsung Pass, Samsung Health (there's a workaround for this one?). I've also read there could be problems with some apps like banking and Netflix. (Magisk hide root status feature is your friend) . If you're outside the EU tripping Knox will also void warranty.

Don't care about secure folder or Samsung pay or warranty or loosing ability to update OTA. I can use odin for that
Can samsung pass and health be bypassed via the technique of changing ro.xxxx.tima= 1 to 0 in build prop file?
Don't use Netflix so don't care. Nor use any banking apps
Would fingerprint, face unlock, ar emoji and other camera features and Samsung themes kepp working?
Once you are rooted and your bootloader is unlocked does your boot screen changes to show tripped knox etc?
I rooted my A705MN. Samsung health does not work for me after tima change to 0. I read somewhere that you would have to modify the apk somehow. Never looked into it too much. You can read about it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/how-to/guide-samsung-health-root-device-t3946881
I am bummed that about the secure folder. I used it a lot with my unrooted S8. You can modify the build.prop to pass the SafetyNet check to be able to use banking and Netflix apps again.

Samsung Pass uses biometrics to log-in and such, it won't work if the device is rooted. I don't know of any bypasses but I've found this https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/samsung-pass-knox-tripped-devices-t3687977
I don't see why emoji and general camera features would stop working, they're not really security features, not that the stock camera is very useful. GCam is a better option for photography.
For now, I haven't rooted my device. From my understanding to enter a rooted state with Magisk you need to turn on your phone with a certain key combination, otherwise I don't think anything is displayed when the phone boots, why is that important?
banking? so like logging on to chase online app may not work if i unlock boot and root? that would be just dumb, i mean my nexus 6 was rooted and custom rom-ed and chase worked

Our Samsung A70 is very finicky with root and unlocked bootloader. And the rooting method we use is not so very official and stable for us.
So we need to use a certain key combination to keep root and magisk app when rebooting phone.
You mentioned gcam. Which version and config file are you using?

Actually its a security feature.
Many banking and enterprise applications don't work if your bootloader is compromised and your system rooted. They believe that by rooting and gaining administrative status, any hacker can bypass banking app security thereby compromising consumer safety

I never really used Samsung Health with my unrooted S8. Fingerprint reader does not work to unlock my rooted A70 on Q (Android 10). It accepts the fingerprint but does not unlock the phone. It goes into a loop where it locks the phone again even I press the fingerprint sensor. I hate the ultrasonic reader lol. Does not work with screen protectors to prevent it from being scratched.
Can't use private mode in Samsung Internet anymore A lot of the features from Samsung seems to be disabled after tripping Knox. I used to love Samsung but with rooting now is a pain in the neck. The build.prop is different than 9 which sucks because I liked "overclocking" kind of making the CPU use all cores, it is not there anymore in Q. I am not sure that the Net improvements hacks for the build prop works anymore. Internet connection does not seem to be as fast for me as 9 was. Edit: I am not sure why the hell we can't use them because it erases the phone when we unlock the bootloader. Even if we re-flash stock they will not work because efuse is already tripped.

I am sorry I do not use those apps. You will have to edit your build.prop to get it to pass the SafetyCheck most likely. If Chase still does not work for you unrooted try contact their support and see if they can help you make it work. I am not liking rooted Q as much as rooted 9 was.
Okay so it means that t rooting and unlocking bootloader leads to Samsung secure folder, Samsung health, Samsung pay, secure login, banking apps and Netflix not working anymore.
Moreover specifically for A70, rebooting phone require specific key combination.
What about boot screen? Does it show any new text after rooting?
My note 4 after rooting shows kernal booting system or kernal booting recovery which is indication thst device has been tempered with.
I have a problem with the making phone calls after rooting. The sounds leak out as if it's on speaker (when it's not) and when on speaker it makes a very shape echo in the back ground.

Turn off voice enhancement in call settings. Or noise reduction in call settings
These settings are known to cause echo or static noise issues during call.
Also try turning off any sound mods you may have done after rooting

Question : widevine, mcdonalds, banking app and root?

Hello!
I will receive a oneplus 9 pro next week and wonder if i shall root it or not. I want to use titanium backup and a few other apps that need root permission, but i also dont want to loose widevine level 1 for netflix and amazon video in hd, want to use my banking app and mcdonalds app.
i havent followed the magisk/root discussion for maybe a year or two (used a unrooted stock phone), so i am not up to date how things are at the moment.
just to be clear, please can someone answer the following questions:
1.) is unlocking bootloader (no root afterwards) enough to loose widevine level 1? can level 1 be gained again when bootloader is locked again or is lost permanent (like triggering knox with samsung).
2.) any problems with mcdonalds app and magisk? google pay?
after reading to the internet on the subject totday, i get the impression that rooting nowadays causes more problems thn benefits, but maybe i get a wrong impression.

Use the canary builds of Magisk, enable MagiskHide, and toggle the apps in question, and you're golden. Also, just to be sure, toggle it on for Google stuff like the Google app, Google Play Store, Google Play Services, Google Services Framework, Netflix, McDonald's, GPay, and any other banking or streaming subscription apps. Might want to have Magisk hide its self by changing the app name and signature as well.

so i will definitely not loose widevine l1 with unlocking bootloader and root?
to hide magisk itself (change name and signature), i just need to turn this option on in magisk and not need to do this in a manual way?

Correct, by default it will change to a "default" app icon and rename itself to "Settings" but you can easily still tell it from the device's own system Settings app.
one last question.
following this root instruction https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-magisk-unlock-root-keep-root-oos-11-2-7-7.4252373/ , do i have to use the provided boot images? i feel safer to download the full ota from oneplus official site and extract payload.bin and then use payload dumper to get a boot.img.

If you are leery of using someone else's boot.img, feel free to do that if you'd like. But regardless, be sure to boot the image, don't flash it. Booting it not only gives you the temporary root access to install Magisk yourself, but also ensures that the patched boot.img is actually valid.
v23 has a fix for SafetyNet API. It looks like that supersedes anything from the last canary/debug builds, so it's probably safe to stick with that. Everything else is the same, though.

Latest stable Magisk build. I'm saying you won't need to mess with canary/debug.
When you turn on hide then hide the app the in the settings then your allowed to do anything you like but also hide it in the menu of magisk then your all done don't flash to much crap and magisk hide module is not really finished yet for this device good luck
I rooted it the second i got it
And don't use canary builds of magisk only if you want to run your phone very unstable i recommend the stable version
thanks alot for the information.
i still hazzle to root. i had a oneplus 3 2 years ago and had magisk root/custom rom/twrp, but i also had issues on regular basis and spent alot of time on xda and with flashing. dont know if i want this again or just a phone that works.
and just to be sure:
in case i loose my widevine level 1 because of root or bootloader unlock: will it come back when locking bootloader again and/or unroot. or will it be level 3 forever?
Wildvine L1 is not always retained when unlocking the bootloader. If I unlock mine, I go to L3 every single time, but when I lock it back, I go back to L1. I've tested this 3 times and it happened all 3 times.

Well to be honest I never had that problem and i need to have my binance hidden as well and everything works well but with some games like slime hunter i really need to hide magisk it self too from the settings but when you do they everything will be working okay. And so far I have seen with magisk hide module what you can download is that there are no keys yet for using in op9p (could be changed didn't check it for a while now)

Question How to open camera2 API completely

Can i enable camera2 api completely level 3. I know it's works with magisk but is magisk is safe to open camera2 api if any problem created what i will do then
I had already tried to enable the Camera2API with Magisk, even with modify system.prop. And it wasn't possible, also that if you want to use the Google Camera, it only works on Snapdragon processors.

If you talk about making a modification such as modifying the system.prop. Those modifications are applied, if you disable the root, those changes are staying. There are certain and other external modifications that even with a reboot, makes the phone return to its normal state, as well as overclocking or other processes.
Also something you have to know is that, the Knox warranty is triggered when the phone is rooted (Otherwise, non-knox kernel loaded), So it won't let you use some Samsung apps like Secure Folder, Health and others, Not less for Samsung technical services, and it cannot be reset by factory.

Yes, the Knox warranty is avoid (triggered) after Root
And still, if you root your device for enable Camera2API by yourself, you can't because the Samsung Galaxy A22 has MediaTek processor and not Snapdragon, for to work.

Question Question about unroot

hello, i want to sell my phone and i want to unroot it b4 doing it but the problem is that when i flashed the original boot the phone would be in a state that it wont be root but stuff like software update from settings and google pay/bank apps wouldnt work. its there any way to unroot the device back to be like it was original when i bought it?
Welcome to XDA!
For your problem, I think the supersu app can allow you to unroot

Unfortunately when you flash magisk, you will never be able to use banking apps even if it's unrooted. That happens because samsung have knox bit which is tripped when custom software is flashed. That happens in phones cpu and it is irreversible.

P.S
You can use banking apps when phone is rooted and you enable denylist in magisk for specific apps. But when knox is tripped and you flash original firmware, you won't have that option
