I can't hear other caller - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

all of a sudden i cannot hear the other person on a phone call. they can hear me. but i can hear them on speaker. so i wiped my phone, on latest radio and 7.1.2 android and nothing still. now im worried

I recently bought my N5X on ebay. The previous owner already had the mainboard replaced because of the bootloop problem. When I got the phone, I was facing the same problem: I couldn't hear people on phone calls. I replaced the earpiece myself and still no success. Although I tried to fix it myself and therefore lost warranty, I sent it in (without a proof of purchase, but saying that it must be under warranty because of the serial nr.) and got it repaired under warranty. They replaced the mainboard again and now everything works fine.

I Need Help! Voice Call Problem

hey guys
i have a problem with my tp2. basically when i make a phone call to someone theres a 50/50 chance they will hear my voice, when i talk they cannot hear me but i can hear them. ive noticed on one occasion i hung up, walked outside and they could hear my voice that was a once off. I have recorded my voice and played it back so the mic works, i have put my phone on loudspeaker to no avail they still cant hear my voice, i have tried to connect my headset but still the same outcome. I am confused as to whether this is my handset or my network and has been f***kn eating at me. i got this phone for no more then two weeks and its doing and for a phone that costs outright $1200 here in Australia which isnt cheap and for it to do this so early i find ridiculous. Can anyone help me? any help would be appreciated. i would take it to a repair centre but its decently far from my area and dont want to get it fixed for no reason if its network related. Cheers.
I just had the same problem, but I've been "tweaking" mine today and trying out some of the tweaks from this board so that may be my problem. I just called got through the phone menus fine and when I got a live person finally, they heard about 30 seconds and then they couldn't hear me anymore but I could hear them. When I tried calling back, they couldn't hear me at all.

Need help! desire always rebooting. warranty

I'll try to explain as best as possible. Im from portugal and i bought my desire (second hand) in ebay uk in february. When i recieved the phone I opened the box and I saw that there wasnt a invoice, not from the purchase between me and the seller but between the seller and the store where she purchased but also do not know if it was mandatory to include and also the thing that was least bothered at the time.
The phone came branded to t-mobile but i s-off and rooted, so it was not a problem.
The problem is that a few months back here the phone starts to reboot itself. I had to take the battery to stop. But starting from yesterday has worsened a lot, anything I do, the phone restarts and does nothing but this, sometimes he even starts but after entering the PIN, it restarts again. I know its a hardware problem more precisely the motherboard, right?
Already contacted the support of HTC in my country but they tell me to go to the store where purchased, and then they send it for repair. And this is a big problem because as you know I live in Portugal and I can not go to the store where the phone was purchased. Then they told me that I could send to the repair center in my country, out of warranty. Once i have investigated further the identity repairs in Portugal, I saw lots of complaints services, such as unresolved issues, products that come worse than when they were, high prices, etc. Anyway, I better not try their services.
The only solution is to buy another mobile phone, or is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I love this phone and I do not like the idea of having to buy another much more cheaper because I can not buy an equal or similar at the moment. And I'll be very frustrated when using it, after having the experience of using a Desire.
Thank you.
P.S: btw, who does the repairs in Portugal is the Arvato Services.
Anyone?....
try cyanogenmod - it's a faultless ROM.
If the issue persists then you may send it in for repair since I doubt there's anything else for it.
Sounds like the problem I had with my first Desire. It finally was a hardware problem and I got it replaced via my warranty.
In the first couple of weeks everything was fine but then it became really instable and rebooted in loops. Sometimes it run flawless for some hours and then again rebootet and rebootet. Partially even while booting, it restartet again. It became unusable and I had to send it in. Sorry to tell you that.
It was checked and replaced by Arvato Germany

[Q] Cannot Receive Incomming Calls/Text Intermittently!

Hello All,
I'm wondering if others have the same major issue as I do. I'm on Wind Mobile using a Samsung Galaxy S3. This issue happens intermittently anywhere between 1 to 2 days, my phone will stop being able to receive calls. It's very frustrating and Samsung is really no help. After two attempts on trying to "repair" my phone, they have failed each time. When you send your phone in, they send it into an "authorize" repair center located in St. Laurent, Quebec. The only thing they did was they ran a "RF Test" and it showed that everything passed at the time of testing, they said (How am I suppose to show them the issue if this is intermittent?!). So they re-flash my phone with the same ROM - again and again.. I told them, "This is my second time sending it in, and you guys are redo'ing the same steps as the first repair. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know this, but wouldn't you think when you send me back the phone - the issue is still going to be there?!" ... And sure enough, when I got the phone back, I was still unable to receive calls. The only ways you are able to temporary resolve the issue is by doing one of the following:
1. Restart the phone.
2. Enable flight mode and disable so that it reconnects.
3. Make an outgoing call and a flood of missed text messages will come in (strange!)
I should not have to restart my phone every night to ensure I can receive incoming calls for the next day! This is not what a phone is suppose to be...
So I took matters into my own hands - I flashed it with a older release stock rom and I tested it. I thought I managed to fix the issue, however on the 11th day, the issue came back. I was still not able to receive calls/text. When I flashed with the earlier release, it also flashed the baseband. Either way, I should not be prevented from using the up to date software! This is a Samsung issue but if you ever tried dealing with them over the phone, it's painful. It's becoming a wide spread issue as many forums on the Internet are emerging with people that has identical issues as me.
They said they would send me a REFURB replacement - (believe me, I tried fighting for a brand new phone, since I paid for a brand new phone and this issue came straight out of the box - it's not even my fault to begin with!) it's been over a month and I still didn't see any phone replacement nor did I receive any mails from Samsung. So I called Samsung today after a month and 2 weeks. They said my replacement have been cancelled. First they said it's approved and requested me to send in my receipt for the phone. I had done the the very moment I hung up the phone from when they told me my replacement was approved (that was over a month ago). They want me to send it in again to Samsung Electronics this time, located in Mississauga, so they can do their "test". So I called Samsung Electronics in Mississauga to find out more information as to how they deal with their process.
The person by the name of Jose mentioned that since it's an intermittent issue, when we run our test and it passes - we simply return the phone to the customer and inform the 1-800-Samsung that the customer is not eligible for a replacement.
So as you can see, me, as a paying customer is stuck with a defective phone straight from the manufacture, Samsung. It's really a gamble as to which phone you pick because they are all brand new at the store. You just hope you don't receive a defective one or you're pretty much screwed because Samsung will not help you.
By any chance, does anyone know a fix for this issue?
Thanks in advanced.

Voice on regular call randomly not audible, works on loud speaker

Hi,
I been using this phone from when M8 is launch. I never had a problem and I hardly remember rebooting the device. This issue happened like 2 weeks before. I had to use my phone for a Conference Hangout call and I used the Headphone (iPhone 5S's one) for privacy. I unplugged the Headphone after that. After that I had couple of voice call, but I couldn't hear a thing. I turned on the loud speaker, I was able to hear. The phone was like that for 3 days and I hard reset the phone. I still had the problem for 2 more days.
I decided to sent it to the service center, called them over Bluetooth they gave me directions to send it to the service center. After that call, I got another call, which I answered without Bluetooth, I was able to hear the voice.
Now this issue, randomly comes and goes. Anyone had this problem before? I haven't sent device to the service center yet.
About the Phone,
- Bought in Australia unlocked
- Hardly used Headphones with this device as I use Bluetooth Headphone
- The phone is running on Stock (never rooted), 4.4.3
Thanks
Based on the response I got here, I send the phone to the Service Center yesterday. Thank you guys!
I'm having the same problem
If you have warranty, return it to the service service. Its almost 2 weeks, I haven't heard from them yet.

Bootlooping not sure if caused by me or the hardware fault?

Model H815, bought the device at launch. From UK.
So a couple weeks ago I was messing around with rooting and all that, managed to flash a bad file and ended up in a boot loop. Fixed it using LG Bridge, flashed all the right files and was running a rooted device fine.
Then maybe a week after that whilst just using the phone normally, it freezes, the speakers make a weird buzzing noise and then the phone turns off. Ever since it has been bootlooping. I tried fixing it using LG Bridge again, using the 'Update Error Recovery' option with the device in download mode, it says it was successful but the device still bootloops.
Not sure what to do? Will LG replace the board if it is a hardware fault even though the bootloader is unlocked? I may have also taken the phone apart with the intention of baking it, but never did. Would they be able to tell that I did that and then not repair it?
How much would a repair cost if for some reason it wasn't covered? What's the best way to get it repaired? I got it on contract from O2.
Also, if anyone knows where I can buy a motherboard that would be great, as I'd rather just repair it at home instead of sending it off to LG not knowing if they are going to charge me or not.
Thanks in advance.
It is caused by hardware fail, not by you.
Some people admitted that LG repaired their phone with unlocked bootloader, no luck for me, trying to argue with them.
They'll give you a number to SBE (Their 3rd party repair service), again few people admitted that they repaired their phones for freaking free. No luck for me as well here. They've said "It's unprofitable for them to repair it". I actually think they are retarded, thats a quote of first 2 sentences from their response to me: "hank you for your email. If your handset is still in warranty we would ask that you contact LG customer services for further advice, as we only carryout non warranty repairs on behalf of LG. If your handset is out of warranty by date unfortunately we may be unable to offer a viable repair solution." - WTF is that?
Lastly there is no official place where you can buy a mobo, asked LG about 2 weeks ago - no response...
