Hi
I was asking myself about something, now that the kernel source is available do you think that it could be possible to unlock more LTE bands ?
I'm not a Dev and don't know anything about this... But let's hope
Ps: thanks for all Dev works :good:
Well, the source of Mi 5 has been released for months, and there's no band unlocked, so I'm afraid so.
Band 20 can't be unlocked
LTE Bands (and other Stuff) are not in the Kernel sources. This is in the Radio Firmware which is a binary BLOB from Qualcomm.
Also there are few theories that this is a Chip where these Bands are Hardware disabled (per design or per eFuse) - so anyway there is no chance to get LTE Band 20 (which is a pitty, I could use it here in Austria)
The bands are hardware disabled my friend, that's why you have this price of the device.

I mean for example open LTE band 3. I know that device is capable to receive network on that band and it is blocked by the operator.
In guessing idoneapps is what y you want, or would be able to help

BUMP bands 3 & 7
This might be the place to get started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
The process seems complicated, so good luck.

Thanks. Yeah I saw this thread, but wondered with the S6 using Exynos processor instead of a Qualcomm processor if it stil could work.

I can't advise you on that. I would reach out to the Original Poster on that thread and ask.
I would pay if someone could open LTE band 3.
As i read there is DIY option only for Qualcomm processors.

There is for Qualcomm but not Samsung processors because there is no source for them. Without that, we just can't do it. Your better of just buying an S6 with band 3 or and international one.

If there is no other way, I will stick with 3G - gives almost 10mb
Did you get any success regarding adding LTE bands?
Hello guys, as you know, our device has only sprint's lte bands but I think snapdragon 800 should include more lte bands. Can we use this thread to active our bands to use in european countries?

No! You cannot unlock your bands using this method. Even if you try to use codes from this post in dialer - here goes nothing...

So sad , it would be great if I could use LTE at european countries
Hello, I have a OnePlus 3 and have Sprint. Not realizing the device only supports GSM out of the box i found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059
Here one person was able to enable band 20 on a OnePlus One. I was wondering if it is at all possible to enable bands 10 or 1 for Sprint 3G. Or better yet bands 25, 26, 41.
I was also wondering, if I were to attempt this is there a risk of ruining the phone?
I recall band 20 was unable to be activated on the OPO as the device simply was not provisioned with a radio for that band.
Modding will not overcome hardware deficiencies.
Is Sprint a CDMA carrier? OnePlus do not support CDMA at all as the US is the only significant country using that outdated technology.

I do not think so.
First, I am assuming you have the international OPO. Go to willmyphonework.net and see for yourself; your phone is totally incompatible with Sprint. Even 2G bands are not available under its standard configuration.
At this stage you have two choices, return the phone for exchange/sell it or try and edit the hardware settings to make more bands available.
If you bought it new I would just return it rather than modifying the hardware setup.
If you want to tinker with it, you need to start here and also here and see will they unlock the bands you need.
Basically, follow the guides exactly and tick every radio band that appears in the programme and hopefully the bands for Sprint is among those available for your hardware.
I think I tried to activate band 20 4G and it did not seem to work. I have the international OPO.
The OP in the first link is a Chinese model, but the steps are the same.
To quote from the 2nd link I posted:
It will theoretically unlock:
GSM: DCS-1800/P-GSM/E-GSM/GSM-850/Railways-900/PCS-1900
WCDMA: Band I to XI
LTE: Band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21
PS: Even if they're theoretically enabled, some band cannot be used because of hardware limitation...

Even though all the above seem to be available to activate, some work, and some do not. [band 20 has a strikethrough, for example]

I believe you need the right. Qcn from the model phone with the supported bands you want for this guide. With respect to the oneplus 3.
Hello guys
i got the OP3 A3000. i got mine from the official website and its the American version.
ilive in Israel, and there for my device wont have a LTE band #3 like the European versions come with.
my question is, if ill install a Euro rom..would it include the missing LTE band?
* is the anyway other way to pass this issue or installing the missing band ?
thanks in advance.
Eli
Nope. The bands are defined outside of the rom, I'd assume in the modem configuration.

is there anyway that i can install or activate that band on my phone ?
Unless you have the encryption keys to program the baseband...
There's a thread here where people have been trying to change bands without success.
My friend you should check if the phone has the band you need before you buy the phone.
A3000 model it's also for China region.
tl;dr - bands can't be changed

Which version of the phone do you have? Which Band are you missing?
I also have the same requirement. I've got the same ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL) which I think is from the Taiwan market. I need 800MHz (Band 20) activating as it's the most commonly used LTE band in the UK. I also need 2600MHz (Band 7) for my network but this is working on the device already. Is it even possible to get a missing band working on a device?
Anyone know the answer to this?
You can give this a try: [GUIDE] Add all GSM and LTE bands to your phone
That guide seems very complicated and is now 4 years old. Do you guys think the method still works? And are custom kernels already available? For now I'm kinda getting used to the missing Band 20 but the three Carriers in Germany said that they are shutting down 3G 2020/21.
So I would be glad if some experienced user could try if the tools work with the Asus ZF5 cause missing LTE support could become a problem rather sooner than later :/

Well, I'm not sure, I haven't tried that. There are thousands of guides for different phones here on xda. I'm sure somehow it can be done with this device as well.
Hope someone with experience and the phone can try it. For now I'm good with the missing Band 20 but in 2020/21 the major carriers here in Germany will shut down their 3G services. So missing LTE frequencies could turn out to be a real problem Rather sooner than later :/
Why Asus released their Zenfone 5 Models with different LTE support while the 5Z supports all important ones is beyond me...
Could a custom ROM with Kernel correct the missing Bands ?
thanks guys , but i sold my phone for the galaxy s9 and no any problems lol
