I just got a notification on my ATT G6 that there is a software update. I wonder what issues it will address. Won't be able to update until later tonight.
Ooh hopefully T-mobile gets one too. How big of an update is it?

Little over 77 mb
I'm on AT&T didn't get anything
I installed the update and haven't noticed anything different. When I launched the camera though it did act like it was the first use so maybe it was camera software related.

Mine got updated to, but before it was updated, my camera was perfectly fine, quality and everything was great, but now after the update, everything i take picture of is blurry and grainy which my camera never had before, even in really good lighting.

LG and att are officially 3 months behind Google monthly security patch updates. Even my father in-laws old note 4 is getting more regular security updates thru Verizon than this brand new device ! If I wasn't paying $15 a month for this i would have kept my G3. My Nexus player just got the June patch yesterday
Received an update tonight looks like a security update about 800mb I'm in eastern US
Force the update on my phone from the settings page just now. Download is 820MB. Quite a significant amount for a simple security patch
820MB here. Took forever to download. Servers are slow at 2mbps haha. Update brings us up to August security patch and LG software version 10m. Haven't noticed anything different yet except for a post boot warning asking me to not yank the battery on an unresponsive device. Hard reboot is a power + vol down button combo press & hold for 9 seconds
Phone idle battery drain bug is still present in August update
The phone idle drain bug is still here. It eats over 30% of battery over two days for me. Below is the version info from AT&T. 820MB seems like a lot for just security and baseband updates but the changelog is as always ambiguous and uninformative:
Release date: August 29, 2017
Android version: 7.0
Security patch level (SPL): August 1, 2017
Baseband version: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3.1-00014-M8996FAAAANAZM-1
Kernel version: 3.18.31
Build number: NRD90U
Software version: H87110m
File size: 820MB
What's changing: Network performance enhancements and Android device security updates

I heard from somewhere (but don't remember where) that T-Mobile will be issuing an OTA update some time November to open up the wifi calling feature, is that right? Can someone confirm that?
Also, will that OTA be making an update to the existing firmware or will it be completely wiping out the existing system and flashing a brand new one?
Reason I ask is because I'd very much like to keep the root that I have right now with the "Voodoo OTA RootKeeper" app written by supercurio, but that app is only going to work if the OTA is an update, not a complete override.
a bit early, considering the phone just came out less than a month ago...
the next OTA will most likely be ICE 4.0
my guess Feb 2012
There is an update coming I think Nov 16 or something like that to bring us WIFI calling, but that's it for now.
This phone is a Beast..
i thought it was november 11
The 13th was what was quoted in earlier post as far as I can remember. Who really knows though. Should be coming soon though.
i don't count that OTA as an actual update, it's rather an OTA app install
similar to what we can do from Android Market web to install apps to our phones
just this is Tmo sending the app to our phones via OTA

I also read that its the 13th. I at least hope that Samsung would fix the lockscreen issue that a few user are facing. Luckily since I've been rooted on custom roms this hasn't happened to me. Although it did on the stock unrooted rom.

the update on the 13 is only for the WiFi calling app AFAIK
they might include some other bug fix, but i doubt they will have anything for the screen optimization
Oopps, yeah I meant the 13th. Lol.

Thanks guys. We'll see how it goes. See what's in there and whether I can preserve root after it.

Important Notes:

No idea what is included in "Security Update"
Wish it were more than just a security update.

I'm hoping it is not the preemptive changes that were made to the GNex to thwart the import ban(s)......
Is this something new? I picked up my GS3 on Saturday and walking out of the store after activation it prompted me for an update.

Now we just have to wait to see how long it takes for T-mobile to put it through testing. I can't wait to have SD card integration with the onboard memory!
Yep. I noticed this yesterday when I was seeing what is new about 20g. FWIW, 20g is just a Stagefright fix. It will sure be curious to see how long it takes LG / TMO to get Marshmallow out for our G3s. I bet its well into 2016!!!
Just can't wait!
Thia is going to be great! I hope it will work good on the Lg G3 but it will be great.
Great. Keep up the support T-mobile!

According to the OP's link: Out of 3 stages, the G3 is in stage 1 Manufacturer Development. If this is still true, don't expect a D851 stock Marshmallow upgrade any time soon.

Does this actually mean anything though? Are the drivers/modules for GPS/Wi-Fi/data the same for the d855 as they are for the D851?
I have been avoiding MM ROMs like the plague because they all seem to have massive issues with one or all of the above. Until the devs can take the modules and whatnot from the official D851 MM then it seems like it's going to be a problem.

Hello
I am currently with this rom and the only problem has been the bluetooth service, the rest all works perfectly. Best regards.
Note: My service provider is not t-mobile, is Movistar in Colombia.
It will tell you that everything except data works perfectly and that the data is buggy, it says data is buggy on all of the port though soo
The tmobile lg g4 is rolling out its 6.0 update. Hooefully were not far behind.

If you guys look on their webpage and try to click on any of the Update links after clicking on device topic ( /docs/DOC-11935 ) the page is a 404 so i think they are about to Go into Tmobile Testing for the G3
The update page shows it Manufacture Development. On the bright side the G4 went from development to release without the testing stage.
Whats up everyone. I just upgraded from a Nexus 6 to this phone on December 20th. Since I have messing with it I have had 2 minor software updates. I am on
Android: 5.1.1
Baseband: G928TUVS2COKC
Security: 2015-12-01
Build Number: LMY47X.G928TUVS2COKC
Then I plugged my phone into smart switch and immediately received this notification I have attached? I thought about doing the update but not sure what it will do to my phone.
Also figure if there was a major update we would be notified throught tmobile's software update website:
Tmobile S6+ Edge Update Status
What do you guys think it is?

Right, I was tempted to do it hoping for marshmallow but I know I wouldn't be that lucky. I think I'm on the current version for the phone but I could be wrong.

I'm running it for the last week and its a good update.

Doubtful. Looks like another monthly security update.
I didn't notice any changes to mine..
Updated mine and now it's having issues charging. Plug it in and charging keeps cycling on the phone. Keeps popping up stating it's charging over and over again. Tried three different chargers, one fast, one at 2.1a and the other 1.5a. Haven't tried wirelessly but this is a great concern.
Can't see anything different at all.
@Zeab I've had that problem as well. Turned out to be a dirty charging port from a dirty plug. Try a little iso and a microfiber rag to clean it out before you panic.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to resolve the issue. Turns out I had a bad cable AND a bad charger. Just happened that the combinations I was trying always provided bad results. Always charge wirelessly except for upgrades and it bit me this time. Lesson learned.
