if your sure it's not just a power problem do a hard reset with the key combo
1. Turn your Lumia 1020 off.
2. Press Volume DOWN and keep pressing it while you connect the charger until you see an exclamation mark!.
3. Press - in this order - Volume UP - Volume DOWN - POWER - VOLUME DOWN.
4. Your phone will reset and reboot. Pls be patient during the reset process.
sometimes you need several try in order to make it work and make sure you've charged the battery well before doing it
Check this post, someone had the same issue and got it fixed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/help-bricked-lumia-1020-blank-screen-t3476502

You need to enable the lumia flash mode. First charge the battery, because you need at least 40%(it's actually 25% but that's the minimum, 40% is optimal) to do a hard reset, then remove the battery. Put the battery back in and press power to turn the phone on, as soon as the phone vibrates hold volumen - and plug it to the pc, the pc should make a sound and that's it, you are in flash mode and you can now use WDRT.
To use WDRT with this method, the WDRT will not recognize your phone so click "phone not recognized" button then click LUMIA and after that the pc will recognize the FIRMWARE of your phone and that's it, continue and the WDRT will start downloading and then installing.

morning guys/gals,
last night i put my phone to charge, woke up this morning and turned on the screen and it said "no sim card detected, reboot device". Now when I rebooted the device all I get is 5 vibrates and the green led light stays on. Screen stays blank!!. I tried battery pull several times, tried vol-down + power but all I get is the vibration with the screen off and the led on.
When I hook my phone to the laptop I can't access it via fastboot/adb, it shows up as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" with a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. I tried forcing different drivers on it (e.g. adb composite, bootloader) but none let me access the device via cmd.
Now I got clockwork, running latest android revolution 2.0.8, device is radio-soff and eng-soff.
What am I to do now? Is there possibly a hardware fault? If I cant get to access to the device to restore it to stock, I'm going to struggle to get the device replaced, isnt it?
any help is very much appreciated!!!
What ROM were you running on it Prior to this happening?
was there any apps running in the background?
the Vol - + Power should get you into bootloader, if you cant get into bootloader I would be tempted to say fooked, and take it back to the shop as they wont be able to boot it either,, but thats the defeatist attitude...

ok very strange, I was playing i around with the phone, now if I pull the battery and connect it to the usb cable the light went red instead of green and it automatically booted in clockworkmod (thanks to the "bug"). vol down + power didnt get me there so once I was in clockwork I thought let me wipe battery stats (eventho I wiped them when rom was freshly installed). I thought the device is unplugged but the green light stays on (after full charge), maybe battery issue. Now after wiping battery stats I'm able to boot the device again.
Thats weird but hey atleast my device is back on track. Either faulty battery or some software bug, either way if anyone experiences a similar issues (phone wont boot, just vibrates 5 times and green led), just pull battery, connect phone to usb cable on your laptop or wallcharge and clockwork should boot up, wipe battery stats and u should be fine
You gotta love that ClockWorkMod recovery image
Hi
I had the same issue yesterday. After one hour of stress(I have DHD for 4 days), I finally find out solution which worked for me:
1.) pull out the battery from phone for at least 10 minutes.
2.) connect phone to the charger.
3.) pull battery to the phone and wait
4.) after orange light recovery should boot up.
5.) wipe battery stat.
6.) enjoy your phone again.
Hope this will help to somebody .
May I know why such incident occured?

Thanks for your reply! this worked for me, allmost.
I did however had to press the Power button ONCE to start the phone.
- Plugged in charger, pulled in battery, (orange light was turned), then after 25 sec I pressed the Power button - and Voila! My Phone started as normal.
I diden't need to do any "Wipe battery status", but after reading about it I did it anyway. It was'nt necessery though in my case.
THanks a lot you guys for your replys! I thought for sure my phone was dead.
try sptool to format your phone except the boot loader then try to flash the phone, if its not working then change the mother board !!!!!

Skip the reinsert battery part in your item #1:
1) Remove battery
2) Hold Volume plus and minus keys down
3) Insert USB cable while still continuing to hold down those two buttons.
WIthin 1-2 seconds you should have download mode. When download mode appears, then re-insert battery. For sure you're not going into charging mode with no battery to charge. This is the method I always use, and it always works (aside from hard-brick situations, but you can access battery charging mode/graphics, which surely means that ain't you).
not works.

What does your computer say when you plug it in? If in Windows check Device Manager and see what your phone is being recognized as. Can you access the phone's contents via USB cable from your computer? Does ADB recognize it at all? Or does it just loop like that, not starting?
Also, it sometimes takes several tries to get it into download mode, as if you're holding the buttons down and not timed just right, the phone ignore your attempt. Make sure you do not let go of both volume buttons even after you plug in the USB cable, you must continue to hold them down for a couple of seconds (until the DL mode appears). Don't even think about putting the battery back in until you see that download mode box. Try that a few times maybe? If it doesn';t work ,maybe you're boned.

Hello Everyone
TL;DR Screen doesn't come on at all, battery led only flashes while it is rebooting (More details below), and When plugged in to my windows pc, a bunch of "Local Disk Found" pop up, some of the volumes I can access, most I cannot.
I have searched and searched the internet the past 24 for solutions, and have yet to find one. So imma walk you through what led up to the issue, as well what solutions I have tried.
Yesterday while I was trying to update my rom, I ended up getting stuck in what I thought was a boot loop. I then decided to hard reset my phone and go into recovery in hope to try to reinstall the rom. To my surprise, I could not access the internal sd card in the phone. Data was unmounted in the "Mount" settings and I could not what so ever remount it. After this I tried to side load it, but to no avail.
In response to all my attempts to fix the phone at that point, in frustration, I just said "**** it" and went into factory reset in the bootloader. This is where the hard brick happened. At this point, the screen would not come one, and the battery led was not lit when plugged in. I tried letting my phone charge over night and then, tried the "Battery Recalibrate method". I then tried the "Hold Pwr + Volume up for 10 seconds, then Power + volume Down until you access the bootloader"
After that, I then thought that the firmware was corrupted, so I tried to see if I could push an img to the phone, however fastboot does not see the device. I tried RUU, it does not see the device. I tried the HTC Unbrick method by Dexter that required me to install ubuntu and do some things in terminal, that also did not find the device. And here I am stuck. One thing unique to my situation that I have yet seen reported in the countless threads I have searched, is that when I plug my phone to my pc, a large amount of disk drives are found. Most of them are not accessible, but there are a couple that I can go in and see files for. Windows asks me if I want to format the ones I can't access. When hooked to my pc, I tried the the Power + volume button combinations, the only thing that seems to happen off of this is that my phone seems to reboots, and the battery indicator briefly shows.
Anyways, this is all I can remember. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I don't really think it is a hardware related issue since my phone does somewhat boot. However it seems it can't get to a bootloader what so ever.
Try holding power and vol up for a long time, like a minute or more. Try with and without charger attached, and after sitting on charger overnight.
If the bootloader is intact, the phone is likely not truly bricked (recoverable). And I don't see how you could have damaged hboot by the actions you mentioned.
What is the phone's original CID (carrier version) and are you s-on or s-off?

Verizon is the carrier version, and I am s-off.
Held vol + up for 5 minutes both with and without the charger. One time with the charger into my computer, and another into the wall. When it was in my pc, I can tell its doing nothing but rebooting over and over by the notification sound, and the constant "Found new disk" notifications I got. However still no luck, no screen turns on, no sign of hboot. I'm hoping to have some luck after leaving it on charge overnight and trying again.

So still nothing after leaving it on charge overnight and I held vol + up for about 5 minutes. Things seem grim.
I think the proper thing to do when you discovered internal storage was not mountable, would have been to use the TWRP option to format internal storage (in Advanced Wipe options).
But now I'm baffled as to what happened that would have rendered the phone unable to boot into fastboot mode. Fastboot won't recognize the device if you can't boot into fastboot mode, which leaves use kinda stuck.
So you didn't try to flash anything during the course of all this troubleshooting?
What you did - "Hold Pwr + Volume up for 10 seconds, then Power + volume Down until you access the bootloader" is totally wrong
I used to get this bunch of local disk pop-up and this is how I get out the problem
Connect the device to pc, you can hear notification sound on pc that device is connected. Ignore all those bunch of local disk pop-up
Press & hold both power button & volume up button until you hear another notification sound that device is disconnected from PC (that's the indication that device is restarted)
Release both power & volume up button and quickly press & hold volume down button (only this one button)
This should get you on bootloader

No, nothing was flashed except the original Rom update that got this snowball rolling (Not saying its the roms fault, most likely mine).

This is the one combination I forgot to mention in the op, sorry for that.
But I have tried this, before and after your post, still no luck.
If it worth mentioning, I can just hold power + down and it still reboots over and over. As well as just power. As a matter of fact, all button combinations reboot the phone over and over.

By it constantly connecting and disconnecting from my pc. If that doesn't mean its rebooting, then I guess I'm mistaken.

Well, it might mean that.
If it in fact is rebooting over and over on its won, simply holding the vol down button for a long time, should put you into bootloader (on the next reboot "cycle"). Again, assuming it is in fact rebooting, and that bootloader is intact.

Eric
I just went thru this with my a G Pad 8.0, had quite a few hangups but I ended up figuring it out. Some suggestions from what I learned... :
- Fully charge up your tablet. Mine was charging extremely slow, so I left it plugged in overnight and that finally ended up doing the trick.
- Make sure you have the correct driver installed. If you go to LG's website and find their downloads section, you can search for your device and download its driver. I'm pretty sure their tablet driver isn't device specific, but so if you have any difficulty finding this, let me know and I can post the one that worked for me. After you download the file, don't forget to open and install it. While you're there, you can I'd just go ahead and re-download and reinstall their mobile support tool, just to make sure you've got the most current update. After it installs, open the program; I don't know if you have to, please let but I'd have it open and waiting before you do these next steps.
- Completely power off your device. Unplug it from the wall and turn it off. I found that if I just held down the power button until the screen went dark, my tablet 3would restart itself a few seconds later. But when I kept holding down the power bites dxton thru the reset, it would turn off a 2nd time and actually stay off (about 15sec or so).
- In order to run LG's support tool, you'll wanna boot into download mode. You can search for your device online and it should explain how to do this, I found a couple conflicting methods but I believe the one that worked for me was just by holding the volume up key and then plugging it in to your PC with a USB. If that doesn't work, try pressing the volume up and power keys together then plugging it in, or try pressing both of the volume keys. One of those 3 should have you entering download mode. It will take a few seconds after you attach the cord for you to boot up; keep holding down the keys you pressed until you see the download mode screen. When plugging it in, but I it might be easier to keep holding down the buttons if you start with the cord plugged into your powered off device, and and then plug the other end into your PC while you are doing the boot process. It shouldn't matter which end you connect last, and I found this method to be way less awkward.
- The LG mobile support tool should automatically recognize your device and automatically start the update, and but you might need to select your device yourself, or at least the service provider, in order to update correctly. Just DON'T unplug your tablet thru the entire process. I think the whole thing took me about 15 minutes, depends on your Internet speed really.
- if you've managed to successfully run the update and you're still stuck in a boot loop, you're gonna have to reset your device. Again, you can Google how to do this, but I think most LG's perform a hard reset by making sure the phone is turned off, then press and hold the power and volume down keys. When the LG logo appears, release the power key for a second while still holding down the volume key, and then press and hold power down again until you see the reset screen. Use your volume and power keys to factory reset your device.
Hopefully, now it is should be able to boot just fine! Let me know if you encounter any problems and I'll see what I can do to help.
Hi, thanks for your help sheebie, i'll try asap .

So I have spent hours now looking around for an answer the phone is find my phone locked and I can't remember my pin code. I have done all the tricks with the combination keys.
The usual way to get into Recovery mode is Hold V+ and power until the phone vibrates and you should be in recovery mode release the keys. (Doesn't work)
Iv read that you should have the USB cable connected from pc/laptop while you do the same holding V+ and power button... (doesn't work ether)
and download mode should be very easy just hold V+ and V- plug USB cable from pc/laptop and you should get into download mode by pressing V+. Will only show charging Icon and that's its.
So is it possible to turn off this modes from the manufactor? Or is this a completely new security future? How can you use odin? How can you wipe the cache? If you end up having some issues.
Im going nuts....
No way to get into fastboot ether. So if anyone know why this is happening to me or got any solution I would appreciate it.
Plug in your cable with the phone turned on. Hit Power Off and wait for the phone to fully turn off. The charging logo will show up so let the animation do its thing. After maybe 20 seconds, press Volume up + Power and keep them pressed until you boot to recovery. If the command wasn't recorded in the first place and the phone is still off after more than 15 seconds, let go of the buttons and press them again and keep them pressed until it boots in Recovery

So annoying never seen this happened before every combination with buttons to get in any mode doesn't work only vibrates and go to pin lock screen...
Take it to a Samsung Experience center at best buy. Or send it into Samsung for repair.

thats a solid advice assuming his bootloader/recovery/download mode is fully functional then this advice works, in his case and in mine too it does not work and trying to get to the root of the problem is the key. In my case recovery mode gives error on screen so it may have to do with the way firmware is installed as these modes are not accessible.
have you sorted it out? Its nearly a year onwards =)

This, at index 2:48 minutes.
It needs to be connected to the PC. Another screwy quirk Samsung added recently. Your button timing/sequence matters as well.
On my N10+'s you can go into recovery directly with a restart if you do it right. Otherwise they will puke on you.
