Quick Charge 4? - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Do we know for sure if the Mi 6 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 yet?
The only other phone that has the SD835 SOC is the US Galaxy S8, but it doesn't appear to support QC4.
And details are very scarce about this.

The Galaxy S8 uses qc2.0, that's crazy!

Yeah. It's disappointing.
But considering what happened last time, I think it's better to be cautious first before proceeding.

But it seems more Chinese want to buy Samsung, even Samsung thought that the explosion in China was slander last year.

There's a quick review in Mandarin Chinese, with English subtitles.

Charges 60% in 30 minutes, and 0 to 100% in 86 minutes, which is quite impressive. And almost on par with OnePlus 3T's Dash Charging.
Although, we don't know if the phone is QC4 compatible if there's a commercially available QC4 charger.

Hmm. 27W. This is the first time I know about QC4's maximum watts.
My guess is 9V/3A?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I think it is QC3.0. Check my video, how the charging voltage start at 5.0V then goes up to 6V and 2,8Amps.. really impressive, you can fully charge the Mi6 in 90 mins from 0 to 100%. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKZZHnF0qWI

It's hovering around just below 18W. That's QC3.0

First the Galaxy S8, then the Mi6 and now the Sony Xperia XZ Premium all dropped QC4, despite featuring the Snapdragon 835 SOC. Something's amiss.

I have Xiaomi Mi 6 on my hand.
Despite the charger says it can support the voltage of QC 3.0 support. The time I tested it last night, it only pull up to 1650 mA from the charger (didn't see the voltage).
But once I plugged it in on my Aukey charging station in its QC 3.0 port, it can pull up to 3300 mA during charge.
EDIT : nvm, now it can pull up to 3000 mA from the provider charger.

Mi6 just has Q.C 3.0 only

You can know by looking at the back (post a picture if in doubt).

Thanks man!
All phone chargers produced in the last 10+ years are 100->240v.
This charger can be used in America with 120 volts power and in Europe with 220 volts.it says 240 volts because of the unstable electricity in some European countries. In some cases if a thunder strike in a near location maybe simultaneously we could have overvoltage and if the charger is 220 volts.it it maybe damaged so with the 20 more volts we have a safe zone . Sorry for my poor English

Excuse me but this is bull****. Europe now has 240volts, 220volts was the standard 30 years ago. An over voltage from a thunderstorm is very sure much more than just 20 volts on top.

Here in greece we have 220V....... I say in some countries read first.I also said that if a thunder strike in a near location not in the device ! We have AC and the thunder stimutanestly can over charge it.

Yes, but the Euro-max is 240 volts. If you have a thunder strike we are talking hundreds or thousands of overvoltage for a very short period of time. Really, this is not a safety margin. There's a definition of +5% in the standard (depending on base voltage and country).
Gosh...

I bought my 1+3t in India and dash charger input voltage is marked as 200-240V 50/60Hz, maybe it's a mistake in label?
I just tried it in USA and it seems to be working, but my battery was already at ~80% so maybe it did not used full power.
I am concerned since input current will be more than designated on the charger.
Output current (towards the phone) should be OK though.

Mine is an OP3 bought in India and the voltage is similar to yours.
Using a 220/240V charger in US will not damage anything, AFAIK. I think that you will not get dash charging because the input voltage is less than half the capacity.
But using a 110V charger in India will fry it and probably the phone also.

As mentioned before, the input power supply is multi-voltage in aprx. 99,9% of all charging bricks these days. BUT: Due to the Voltage difference on the input side the max. output can vary slightly (and so the temperature of the brick)

USB 2.0? Also, what does CPDDR4 mean?

So I looked at the Note 7 highlights over at Samsung's website and saw two things that surprised me.
http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-note7/
1. It says that while the phone does use USB type C, it's actually USB 2.0 and not 3.1 like many thought it would be. Didn't see anyone mention this.
2. It says the phone has 4GB of RAM, but instead of the usual LPDDR4 it says CPDDR4. A Google search doesn't bring up anything on this.
Just wanted to see what your thoughts are on this.
Yes it sucks but its True
No Usb 3.1 just 2.0
meaning no fast transfer from phone to PC
Hope they will have it in the S8
According to the website today, it WILL have 3.1.

Could be usb-c tipe should provide a litlle bit faster charging. Changing cables even with provided adapter will be a pain in the ass. Decided even to buy the wireless fast charger and always have my wall charger in the bag. The stupid part is that I will have to buy a old adaptive fast charger with micro usb to power the wireless charger or maybe Samsung is releasing the one with usb-c port soon? Soon I will feel like a iPhoner that can't borrow a damn charger from a friend and to say my phone have usb tybe c ant it's only 2.0 what... stupid sammy they have always to let you down

The charging will be faster. The Note7 has a new adaptive charger that's 12V/2.1A vs. the Note5 and S7-series that used 9V/1.2A. Quick Charge 2.0 supports up to 12V/2A and has no USB-C requirement. Who knows what Samsung's interpretation of USB-C is. We'll have to wait for sites like Anandtech and GSMArena to do their full reviews to find out what Samsung's implementation does and doesn't bring.

I can also recommend dodocool. Had a QC 3.0 for 9 months and it does the job.
Has anyone actually tried using a QC 3.0 charger with a G6 to see if they get quick charging? I have two and none of them quick charge the G6. A QC 2.0 charger does work to fast charge the phone, and I believe that's what the phone comes with.

The interwebs would seem to disagree as the specs put maximum voltage upwards of 20v for both versions. Voltage isn't as important as amperage, in this case any way. QC 2.0 and 3.0 share similar voltage ranges, but the difference being 3.0 has smaller "step" ranges. So either will actually have variable outputs in voltage and amperage, but 3.0 gives the phone more control for better efficiency (i.e heat control).
Doesn't necessarily prove or disprove the charger version, but rather just pointing it out.
I would be inclined to agree it is a QC 2.0 based of the charger, being seemingly identical to the 2.0 charger from my LG G5, but the model number is slightly different.
Of course, it's disappointing the phone would not release with QC 3.0 if that's the case since it touted 3.0 compatibility, but I have a marked 3.0 charger that does not register 2.0 on the phone, either, so I wonder. I guess it's not that big an issue, especially since there is supposedly little difference in charge times between 2.0 and 3.0.

First off, let me say that I know nothing of what comes with the Nexus. I do, however, know enough about chargers to say this:
Yes, any charger should work as long as you have the right cable to fit the phone. If it's not QC certified, of course, it'll charge slower, and if it's amperage is low it'll be even slower, but the Nexus is a new enough phone it shouldn't be too slow.
A variety of LG G6 chargers and cables are available at amazon. You can also look at amazon, 6feet long usb 2.0 type c to a charging cables are available.

6ft Warp Cable- Amazon

I can confirm this 6ft cable will Warp charge with the OP7 OnePlus 6T Dash Charger Cable 2... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7NLQVH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Found on Amazon UK also :
https://www.amazon.co.uk/TITACUTE-Charging-Degree-Charger-Compatible/dp/B07PV85Z27
Quite a bit pricier as only one in the box.
I somehow doubt this claim though as this article claims that :
Warp Charge delivers 5V at 6A to attain 30W

XDA's own review of Warp charging (For the McLaren 6T) also backs that up:
The Warp Charge 30 block is rated for 5V @ 2A (10W) or 5V @ 6A (30W) if you are using the proper cable and a compatible device (so far, only the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition). This is different from the older charger which is rated for 5V @ 4A (20W).

The cable delivers less than that as it states in the description:
US : "Dash Charge Compatibility: Only support 5V 4A rapidly charging for OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 3, OnePlus Bullets Wireless, other brands devices only support normal charge."
UK : "5A Super Charge Cable: Super charging only for HUAWEI P30 Pro, P30, P20 Pro, P20, P10 Plus, P10, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20, Mate 20 RS, Mate RS, Mate 20 X, Mate X, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10, Mate 9 Pro, Mate 9, Honor 10, V10, Note 10. Note: Other brand smartphone only support normal charge."
Those seem to be Dash charge levels but not Warp charge levels.

It might be stretching it's capacity to work, interesting option though. Keep us updated? If it does work I'd definitely keep it as an option cos the one included is ridiculously short.
I was down to 39% last night when I went to bed. Plugged it in and it said 42 minutes to full charge.
The thing that annoyed me about my Pixel 2 XL was the stock Pixel 2 cable was very short.
I may just use PD at work if extra WarpCharge charger and cable too much

Yes it will, ya'll need to realize it is not so much the cable but the charger you need to worry about.
EDIT: as long as the cable is rated for 5V at 6A, goood to go. Of course no cables will say current output at 6A due to no chargers out there until the WARP charger came along. Many good brands should be ok, I use the 6 ft Anker Powerline + with the WARP charger and it works fine.

Ordered a cheaper 'clone' of a warp charger off Amazon UK. 150cm, it uses the flat anti tangle design.
Shall update when it arrives

These cables are crap. Even the manufacturer admits they max out at 2A, not the 6A of Warp charging.
Answer: No, it only support 5V/ 2A normal charge.
By TITACUTE US SELLER on April 4, 2019
It doesn't matter if the phone says "warp charging" if it's not getting 6A. These cables are missing key resistors that enable full speed warp charging.
Warp charger with 3T cable. Dash charging, even though the Warp animation pops up. Fast enough for me still, as I want to keep the original cable as long as I can.
Welp, bought this cable and there's no Warp charging notification using the OP7Pro charger :

Waiting for this one on Tues next week so will report back :

Although, seeing the comments above I'm now not holding out much hope, why the hell don't OP make a 2m cable....maybe cos it won't Warp charge? :/

OnePlus 7 Pro USB Cables/Chargers

Hi Folks,
Didn't see a unified thread so why not make one

If anyone has found Warp charge compatible cables than aren't only 1m please let us know. Don't really want my phone sitting at the edge of my desk as the charger is plugged in on the floor and the default cable is ridiculously short, I wouldn't even care if OP had to make it stupidly thick, give us a longer cable (That's what she said)
Official OnePlus Flat Dash (Apparently have been used with Warp Charging) cables 1m/1.5m
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33004527678.html
£ 9.37 for 2 of them with China Post Tracked Delivery.
Just ordered 2 of the 1.5m cables so will report back on them.
You tried these on the stock Warp charger?
ali express is the place that takes a few years to ship, right? lol Cheap but long wait times. I guess that can be a fair trade off if you're not in a rush.

Got mine in 10 days via aliexpress even though it was estimated to be 25 days+
Flat dash charge cable 150cm doesn't work with warp.
When connected to phone it says "Warp Charge" but current drops to 2000ma. Changing to warp cable 100cm instantly rises current to 5000ma+
I just ordered the 6T mclaren edition 100cm one from aliexpress. description says that one supports warp but the red one does not.

These worked on all 3 of our 7 Pros. Warp charging works. Bought 2 of them.

Did someone test this cable?
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/3299...bc-4c38-a34e-a82e2e784d21&transAbTest=ae803_5
Thats not true. I have 150cm dash cable from Ali and it triggers Warp Charge logo but ampere is 2000-3000ma.
I have MANY very high quality cables from blitwolf, anker, baseus, choetech etc. None of them works with warp charge.

I've had 3 orders in a row which got from China to the UK in a fortnight so it's not that bad, especially for the price.
@djsubterrain What do you think of the following:

Never used them as I'm in the UK so I couldn't really provide an opinion tbh. Seems like a reseller though just like the sellers on AliExpress, can't imagine it being official in any way.

These people are supposedly next door in Holland.

Gets about 4A on Ampere. You won't get much more than that unless you have a seriously fat cable......volt drop is the issue. To get more you need a much greater surface area of cable.....
Has anyone found a really long (like 5m) cable that works with warp charge?

After trying many hq china cables, and 4 diferent oneplus cables from aliexpress ("genuine") I bought 150cm original cable from official reseller and now everything works. Warp charge with 5000+ma.
Those experiments are not worth the money, I've spent nearly triple value of original one.
@cd993
It will not work. On 5m cable You will drop voltage to 3,5-4v.
