Dear All
Please help: I have an O2 XDA IIs which MS Activesync 4.1 does not detect, despite all my efforts during the last few days (I also have an old iPAQ 1940 which Activesync detects fine).
The XDA is from work, so could it be that it is somehow locked, and if so, how can I unlock it?
Also, as an alternative, can I sync the XDA with my PC via Bluetooth through the iPAQ's?
Any ideas will be gratefully received!
Many thanks in advance,
L
Hi there,
I've Looked through hundreds of forums and although I have seem similiar I haven't found a resolution to my exact problem.
Due to the fact that I've been trying to resolve this issue on and off all day it's probably something really simple...
HISTORY
PDA
Was running WM2003SE on a Xda IIS.
PC
ActiveSync 3.8 on Laptop with Windows 2000 SP4 and all updates. Laptop on a home LAN with router. No firewall software and have since removed all Spyware removal software, (after doing one last scan).
My Task \ Issue \ Problem
I wanted to to the upgrade to WM2005 and followed all the usual procedures. The one mistake I may have made was to install the very very latest 4.1 Activesync without removing 3.8. However at this stage my XDA was still on 2003SE and synced perfectly with 4.1 Activesync.
I performed the upgrade to WM2005 including patches and as far as the XDA is concerned everything appears to be working.
Activesync however doesn't work. Via the USB cradle Windows 2000 detected a device and under device properties it's was listed as Generic RNDIS, it's now listed as a windows mobile based-device. I don't have an entry in my network connections, although I think this only happens with Windows XP. I've tried uninstalling Activesync, removing the rapi.dll file, reinstalling etc, I even did the former and removed entries within the registry and running a registry fixer but to no avail.
I then decided the Bluetooth route but cannot sync via this method either. I can actually succesfully connect from PC to XDA and vice versa but cannot use these connections for Activesync.
I have another Hard Drive for this Laptop which I use for testing. I can simply shut down, swap drives and boot again to another build. The other build is also Windows 2000 with SP4 and pretty much nothing else. I've installed Activesync 4.1 onto this machine, plugged in the cradle and everything works fine.
So..... I know the XDA is fine, The cradle's okay and Activesync 4.1 actually works with my XDA OS. The problem is it doesn't work on one particular build. I believe this is actually a Activesync issue but due to some form of conflict with my build. It's currently out of the question for me to rebuild so my mission is to find out what's conflicting.
Just to summarise though..... Activesync 4.1 was working fine, I upgraded XDA to WM2003 to WM2005 and then it stopped. The other harddisk proves that Activesync does actually work with my XDA.
Pheeeew...... I hope somebody doesn't suggest lack of information....
So the reason for the post?? Well if anybody else is having frustrations, (which I'm sure I'm not the only one judging my my searching), your not alone.
I think a lot of people's problems have actually been resolved by the latest version of Activesync, (4.1), and other people have resolved by sorting out the main culprit of firewalls.
For me though I'll keep searching..... if any of you can think of any other ideas I can use for diagnosing the problem I'll appreciate it.
Thanks in advance..... sorry for the waffle.....
RESOLVED
Okay.... During further searching I noticed people mentioning VPN clients interfering.
I did have SecureRemote VPN installed which I use for work purposes.
I uninstalled SecureRemote but had to uninstall & re-install Activesync again. This time it's working.....
I will, (but not tonight), re-install the VPN client and see what happens. If Activesync countinues to work then, apart from being happy, it's worth making a note of.
If it doesn't work then I'll start to investigate why...... I know the new active sync does some form of IP connection but I cannot accept that it won't work with VPN's installed.
use windows XP (SP2) ...
first install the activesyn and then restart your computer.
then attach your pocket pc with usb cable.
and try to connect.
its works for me...
Hi there!
How can I use Bleckberry Software on my MDA pro?
I have the option of email-push with my contract, but can not use it, because there is no software for the MDA Pro
There is software for the MDA II, vor MDA III and for Compact but not for the Pro. If i try to install the software for MDA III (others are in the rom-upgrades only) i get a messege that the software is not certified for this device.
Any Idea how to use it anyway? Or any other Blackberry-Client for my MDA Pro??
Thx
Hi! you will have to wait for the first rom update by t-mobile. I am waiting for it since August last year...
You better don't count on getting the update in the next months. T-mobile really sucks with updates.
really really sucks
The BlackBerry connect software is currenly not availabe on the MDA Pro. Expected Q1 ‘ 2006

dunno if it will come the same time as the first service release that is listed as January
I´m raly no great fan of T-Mobile, but the release is not a probleme of t-Mobile, but one of RIM.
They have problems with the 3G because they normaly only use GPRS
That´s what i read in a magazin for GSM-Users.
But is there no way to use the Blackberry-software of the MDA II?
I found this, I wonder if our resident guru's can do something with this info:

Solving the Phone Synchronization Problem End-to-End
One of the anticipated features with Windows Mobile 5 is the "Blackberry-like" push email capability. This capability does NOT exist with the current Windows Mobile 5 devices, and it requires two components. First is Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2, which has shipped in the last couple of months, and second is the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) that needs to be installed on the devices, and will only be available via device manufacturers. MSFP is scheduled to be available early 2006. Note that it will require an installation on the device. (MSFP targets enterprise requirements such as the messaging feature described here, and over-the-air erase of devices.)
Those that prefer Blackberry or Good Technologies will note that this new capability is not truly push. Windows Mobile 5 devices will initiate the request for updates by sending an HTTP request to the Exchange server. (This is how Outlook Web Access and RPC over HTTP work today.) During the time that that the Exchange server is processing the request, the server will notify the device that new items have arrived and then the device will initiate a synchronization of the folders in which the items are contained.
In the end I believe this argument is all about semantics. What matters is whether or not one receives updates on the device in a timely manner. Regardless of the process, if I compare a Blackberry to Windows Mobile 5 and both devices receive email in about the same amount of time, end-users will be happy.
The Microsoft solution requires fewer components for the overall service. Blackberry requires additional servers, Blackberry Enterprise Servers (BES), on the comporate network. BES monitors mailbox folders of Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange servers, and when new items arrive it grabs a copy, and sends them to the Blackberry Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC provides the bridge between the Blackberry devices and the corporate email server. The NOC does the important task of keeping track of devices so that whenever new mail arrives, it is sent. The devices, in turn, are keeping in constant contact with the NOC so that the NOC knows that the devices is available to receive mail. This is why if you have a Blackberry you will see it constantly polling.
Another dependency in the Blackberry solution is the interface between the mobile provider networks and the Blackberry NOC. In essences what happens is that the device communicates on the providers network, the provider network routes to the NOC, the NOC sends email that it receives from BES. If you have Blackberry service provisioned by T-Mobile you can't then just move the device over to Cingular (soon to be AT&T) and expect Blackberry to work. Rather Cingular has to set up your device to work via it's connection with the Blackberry NOC. (In contrast, take an unlocked GSM/GPRS device replace the T-Mobile SIM with a Cingular SIM and the e-mail service will work, completely within the control of an end user.)
The NOC is at the heart of the threat to people losing their Blackberry service due to the patent infringement case. If required by the courts, RIM will have to shut off the NOC, which will effectively shut off the Blackberry service.
Microsoft's solution does not have a NOC nor does it have separate servers like BES. All you need is Exchange 2003 SP2 and devices provisioned with MSFP. Clearly these are fewer components for systems administrators to maintain and that will make it an appealing solution to corporations. The service will be entirely within a company's control, and companies won't be at risk of having the service disabled if the NOC is offline either intentionally or due to an outage.
Have a look at this Thread - Its about a Outlook-Transfer that uses Imap-idle
The Beta looks quite good.

I want to dump my blackberry phone and just use my jasjar. Early reviews of the German ROM with BB Connect seemed to indicate that I would need to download an older T-Mobile ROM with an older radio stack to get BB connect to work.
Can someone point me to a good combination of a more recent ROM (english) with the BB Client software that I can use with a US T-Mobile Enterprise BB account.
thanks,
--Kia
Hi,
you can download the BBC-Client from Vodafone (German version, dunno if there's a WWE one). It's not provider locked like the T-Mobile one and works great with my Uni.
I have the latest qtek rom with radio 1.09 on it.

Blackberry connect working on unversal
I managed to get everything working. Thanks for the link. In addition here is the link to the activesync with the Blackberry desktop software.
http://support.vodafone.de/publicfiles/ActiveSyncInstaller2.1.1.9.zip
First I installed the bbclient on the uni and then the desktop software it read my settings from the other blackberry desktop (the one used with my device) automatically.
Everything is fine except when the Universal is docked it disconnects the GPRS tunnel; probabely firewall issues.
any ideas?

Glad to hear that you got it working.
The disconnect is a normal behaviour. BBConnect will always disconnect from GPRS a soon as you attach the device to ASync. AFAIK there is nothing you can do about.

Use Airfix and checkit out, it will not kill Wireless connection while Active Sync is on. Cheers,
Strange thing - when i turn off my device (having BB client running) after i turn it back on in 10 minutes - BB is down and there is no icon in the taskbar. It does even disappear in Settings !
I've installed BB Connect on SD card.
Anybody experienced anything like that ?
Resolved.
BBConnect HAS to be installed in the main memory - no way to make it work correctly been on SD.
One more issue noticed - from the first try i was not able to see the BlackBerry folders in the list of my messanger. Messages are comming and i can preview them at the bottom of the screen, but when i goto messenger (standard) i do not see anything.
I've created a new dummy mail account and - VOILA ! i can see the BlackBerry folders. After 3-4 hours is disappeared again. :-( . I removed the dummy account and again was able to see the BB folders for a while. Then the whole story repeats.
Don't understand how to overlwhelm this.
Anybody has any ideas ?

Do you know if this software can work with every mobile provider? I'm in spain, using vodafone but they told me doesn't support this sofware and said nothing is available to use BB in a universal...Maybe a commercial matter in order to sell BB hardware...
BB Connect with TMO Dash - repost in the correct forum
Hi All,
I am trying to replace my company issued BB 7520 (Nextel) with a T-mobile Dash. (my personal cell)
-I have downloaded the BB Connect Cab file to the Dash and installed. Ver2.1.2.39
-I have downloaded the BB Connect for Windows Mobileto my desktop and synched the Dash ver 2.1.1.9.
- I synched my Dash, it recognized the new PIN and I created a new encryption key
- I have called Tmo and had them add the BB service to my account.
The Dash is connecting to the TMO BB Network. The identity, Status Services and IT Policy all look OK.
However, I cannot send or receive emails, and my calender is not synching. I have turned off Calender synch in Activesynch. I don't have Activesynch synching anything.
Am I missing something? When I run the BB Connect Desktop for Windows Mobile, I only get panel that looks like the redirector settings on the BB Desktop Manager.
Do I need to run the Desktop Manager when I run the BB Connect for WM?
Thanks in Advance
James
I haven't been able to get BB Connect on my Excaibur afterthe first restart of the device. It does work though if I deselect the radio button for wireless PIM. Anyone know why this (I think the BBconnect service is CICAL) is preventing BBConnect from working?
Help, I am lost now.. I had BB Connect work on my Dash, then I flashed the ROM. I have BB installed and I can receive all my emails no problem, but I can't create new or reply to emails the action is greyed out. Since this is the only way I can email I really need to get this working.
Please help!!
Thanks
I fixed it, I just had to send a service book to my phone and everything works now..

Blackberry Connect using BIS (not BES) on WM6, possible?
I am using a Rogers S621 Excalibur (Carrier, CID, & App unlocked).
On my phone I am running WM6 standard 5.2.1238 (Russian ROM)
On my computer I am running Vista.
I do have a BB Connect data plan on my account.
I have installed the BB Connect software seen here:
http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=228
and here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225
If I try to run the Blackberry Connect Desktop for Windows Mobile it begins to start up and then says "The account is not provisioned properly on the server" and then shuts down. I don't think that is an issue as I believe the desktop client is only for BES.
On my phone when I try to select the BB Connect app and select Register now it says:
Blackberry: Not Connected
Blackberry: Network Available
Blackberry: Data Tunnel Available
Blackberry: Not connected
On the BIS (www.rogers.com/bis) when I select "Change Device" and then enter my PIN & IMEI (found on my phone by selecting Blackberry>Settings>Identity ) it says: "The information you have provided could not be verified. Please check your information and try again".
On my phone when I select Start>Blackberry>Settings>Email Settings it says "Email settings unavailable".
What have I done wrong, or what can I try?
bb connect dont work with wm6...i had it on wm5 but once i updated the rom to wm6 it stopped..happened to all of us.. some ppl got it to work by editing stuff ...but thats jsut too much to go through

What carrier are you on? Rogers?
BES? or BIS?
does this means you are confirming that your S621 is indeed CID & APP unlocked ?? and this is a "software" issue ??
I was starting to get confused with other posts of yours going back & forth not knowing yes or no

What are you talking about? When was I "going back & forth"?
And why are you rolling your eyes at me?
And wasn't it a "software" issue the whole time? It certainly wasn't a hardware issue.

How did you know that the service book transfered to your handset? I did the same but there were no new service books.
BB Connect 4 and WM6
I've just installed BlackBerry Connect 4.0 on my T-Mobile Dash with WM6. It works like a charm...!!!.
Regards.
Pedro.
Hi, in order for the BB connect to work on the Dash you have to have the BB data plan through your carrier. After you install the cab, go to your website where you can manage your device, pick a blackberry as your current device and then you can send the service books. You can also call your company and ask them to send the, just tell em your using a pearl or something. ANy way after that make sure you update the pin and then your good to go. Oh by the way the current US smartphones cant multitask APN's so you will not be able to access the blackberry.net apn for mail and the wap apn for internet at the same time. In order to use the internet you must suspend the bb connect software. I have a .cab for for smartphones which works if you want one. It was designed for the dash, excalibur, etc. It works great.

I am using 2.1.2.39 and I can get the software running, where I seem to have the problem is with the service books. TMO has another PIN and IMIE number and will not let me change it.
I can send a new service book but they are not showing up on the handset.
BB Connect 4.0 not working on WM6
Hi there,
I have my HTC S621 from Rogers with Blackberry plan and recently upgraded to WM6. When loaded with BBC 4.0. It will not connect (works well under WM5). I have seen some ppl say it works and some ppl say it does not work.
Not sure if there is a way to fix it ?
Here is the info of my HTC:
ROM: 1.27.405.1
WM6 CEOS: 5.2.1238 (build 17745.0.2.3)
radio : 4.1.13.44_02.94.90
Thx.
BB Connect question: Is it possible to change (or get a different) PIN?
Long story short, my BIS won't accept my PIN and tech support has no idea why, so changing my PIN or getting a new phone seem to be my only options.
I have just moved from a T-Mobile TouchPro2 (US Model) to an Orange TouchPro 2 (UK Model).
The T-Mobile was WM6.1 and the Orange is WM6.5 and both ROM's are stock.
On the T-Mobile ROM I was able to sync my Contacts & Calender with my works issue XP laptop running Outlook 2007.
When I set up my new Orange TP2 on the same laptop everything worked fine for about 3 days. Now when I connect I get a message saying I will only be able to view files etc. No sync is available and the message goes on to advise me to install MS Outlook. Of course Oulook has not been removed.
I deleted the sync partnership on the TP2 and tried again with no success. I re-installed activesysnc and this worked but only for about 5 connections. I now get the same message.
I still have my T-Mobil TP2 and did some testing with that but I can not get it to fail. When I retest with the Orange TP2 it fails within 5 syncs attempts.
Is this a known bug in WM6.5? I have searched the forums and there is a lot of info regarding problems syncing to Exchange (Push mail) but I do not use that service or connect in that way.
Any help appriciated.
does no one else see this problem?
I've noticed a similar issue when connecting my Tilt2 to my Windows 7 laptop. It will sometimes only connect once per boot. In other words I can plug it in and it will connect. But when I unplug and replug, it will make the little "USB Connect" sound but not actually connect. After rebooting, it will connect again.
Windows Vista and 7 use a slightly different method of syncing than XP (Windows Mobile Device Center). I've noticed that if I set up a named partnership in WMDC it seems to give more reliable connections.
I'm not sure that really helps your situation but at least know that you're not alone in sync wonkiness.
Similar problem running Activesync 4.5 on old Windows 2000 work laptop (don't ask ) Current ROM NRGY Phoenix 2 16 Jan 21889 Titanium build. Seems to be specific to some ROMs, but cannot for sure say which branch works better for Activesync.
It doesn't appear to be a common problem. But since I had never seen it before I started using WM6.5 I was sure it was a bug in the ROM. It's a real pain in the ass when it happens as you have to delete the sync partnership on the phone before it will reconnect. Then you have to set up all your favorite contacts and speed dials all over agin. I have just started a new job here and I am adding 3 or 4 new conacts every day at the moment so couldn't have happened at worse time. Might be time to try a cooked ROM.
TP2 Activesunc won't recognize Outlook - WM6.5
Have had this same problem now for over a month. Have been syncing Activesync v4.5 with WM6.5 on TP2 for over a year previously. Transitioned from MSO-2003 to MSO-2007 with no sync issues. Fresh install of MSO-2010 and TP2 will mo longer recognize that my computer has MS-Office installed. have not found solution anywhere to date. Appreciate any updates from other with any solutions ....
Regards,
