How to: disable/remove sound alive from a5-2017? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi there. I'm a visually impaired user of a5 but my prefered TTS engine "ETI eloquence" sound is not fine on this phone. I observed that its a result of its conflict with sound alive feature of the phone, therefore, i'm looking a way to completely disable, or remove sound alive for better investigating this problem. Is there any way through which i can remove/disable it completely? my phone is already rooted with latest super su SR3.

Try to use package disabler pro from play store to freeze those unwanted apps
If you already root your phone, try to use titanium backup to remove those unwanted apps

so I've rooted my OGP. Now what?

Rooted it today. First android phone I've ever owned (though been jailbreaking since 2009).
I installed Ttanium Backup, and i think i backed up my apps and data, but not exactly sure where to, as i don't have an SD card in it yet. If I backed up to the phone, I'm guessing that's mostly useless. But I'm new to this stuff so i don't really know.
So, now that i have root access, what apps should i be installing?
What stuff should i be uninstalling or freezing?
What cool things can i now do that i couldn't do yesterday?
Anything specific to the OGP that i should or should not do?

You can block ads, search adaway here on xda since Google recently rid the store of all ad blocking apps. You can use programs like sqlite editor to enable hotspot even if you're not subscribed to a plan that supports it. You can use xposed framework also here on xda (under our phones themes and apps) to apply themes to the phone. You can disable built in apps using titanium backup. Also, you should install Cwm under android development for our phone and make a nandroid backup in case you ever screw up your phone.
Best of all, you can install greenify root to make your battery last a lot longer. It hibernates apps for you that would normally run in the background.
When we have our bootloader unlocked is when the real fun will start though.

Thank you!
Couple more questions...I was able to do a search for adaway, and found it, but you mention (under our phones themes and apps), and could not find that. Is there a section that just has XDA Apps in it? All I was able to find was forums, and not repositories (don't know if that's the right word).
Basic newbie question...if an app is listed as being for Jellybean 4.1, can we use it even it was made for a Galaxy S3 for example? If it's Jellybean 4.1 is it good to go?
As to adaway...if you disable ads, will some programs refuse to run?
Is the hotspot app, safe for my phone bill?
If you "disable" apps using titanium backup, does it remove them from the phone, or just hide them? What is freezing an app? And if later you want to have them back (let's say for a trip to the cell store) are they readily returned to view?
I was under the impression (probably wrongly) that CWM at this point could brick our phone. Am I mistaken? And where does the nandroid backup get stored? Hopefully not on the phone...
I ask a lot of the above questions as being a new android user (2-weeks now), I'm clicking or checking out everything I see on the phone (and in the store(s) to learn about what it can do. I'm also installing a ton of apps that are new to me, and I've also gone to some non-Google Play stores to DL some stuff. I know that sooner or later I'm going to want to restore the phone to factory stock to get rid of conflicts, viruses (virii?), and anything that does not play well with other stuff. So, during this learning quest, I assume I'm going to frag the phone in some way, and will have the need to return it to stock (hopefully without needing to go back to the store)!!! I just want to have a bit of assurance that with everything I do, I can get back to stock.
Lastly, is there anything somewhat similar to iTunes that will make a restore a bit less time consuming. Is Titanium Backup what I"m searchnig for?
Wasn't aware of greenify root.. will give that one a go right now!

Thanks for mention greenify root, I install it. It's a hit!!
Now that I'm rooted (and installed some associated apps) I've noticed some laggy operation. When I'm on pretty much any of the home screens, and click on the app drawer icon, I'm brought to the page where I see "Apps", "Downloads", and "Widgets" at the top, but occasionally I have a blank screen below that. It stays blank for anywhere from one to three seconds and then the apps and folders appear. Sometimes they will show up instantly, but quite often there is a few second lag. The only things I've installed since rooting are Root Checker, Titanium Backup and Greenify. I'm not sure whether it is the root or the new apps, so I guess I can uninstall the three apps and see.
I also seem to be getting the circling "please wait" message more often than in the past.
Anybody else experiencing this? And does this sound like a root issue or an issue from one of the three apps?

Root or not to root?

What are your top reasons for rooting?
Number one for me is Magisk Modules, namely Injected YouTube Background Playback. Then Adaway, Titanium Backup, and Substratum (although you can still theme without root).
Same here...magisk, titanium backup and afwall+
Sent from my OnePlus5T using XDA Labs
Titanium, Adaway, Greenify, Root browser
First of all Magisk: Stock System with all preferences of root,
Titanium Backup, Firewall, Tasker & AutoTools, AdAway, Greenify, Oxygen Updater, SD Maid, Cerberuss, Terminal Emulator, File Explorer, Better Battery Stats
It should be illegal not to root this phone.
Magisk, Root browser, Adaway, Titanium Backup, AFWall+ and Lucky Patcher are my reasons to root. Oh and iYTBP black themed youtube. I dont like non root version of that.
Same question LOL just got the device today, coming from Op2.
I think I can live without root for now.
Well, my top reason for rooting has always been, because I can.
But after that, all the above reasons same for me. I just like the customization and modding that comes with rooting. You can make a great phone even greater and completely in your vision and interface. I like trying different ROMs and kernels. Also, I need the kernel kcal functionality to adjust my screen colors as I'm very picky about it.
It's not about owning and using a device for me. It's one of my few hobbies as well. :good:
I've been spoiled by Viper4Android and what it can do to make my music sound so much better, so I can't live without that.
Titanium Backup, Magisk Modules and some advanced automations through Tasker are nice to haves, because I can do it. They aren't too essential, in my opinion, and rooting for me is making it mine. I would probably jailbreak my iPhone if I owned one as well.
Thanks for all your replies!

I'm curious about why so many people use Viper4android. Does it make all your music sound that much better, or do u need HiFi audio files? I'm not really an audiophile, so I've never bothered with it, but maybe I'll give it a try.
Honestly?
Literally just Substratum.

You don't really need HiFi FLACs, but most of my library is a mix of Spotify downloads (in extreme quality) and 320k MP3s. Set up right (in my case, using the DDC profile of earpods, of all things, and maxing out Spectrum Extension) it can bring a notable improvement. But it takes time to find the perfect settings for your music styles and preference. I can't say for others, but the difference is there for me.

Does anyone have an issue connecting to a hotel wifi on a rooted phone where it opens a new web page where you need to enter your room number and surname to sign into the wifi?
I used to face this issue on rooted nexus 6p

Tasker, Titanium Backup, Greenify, AdAway, Substratum, Root Explorer. Currently not using Xposed but I do use it on some ROMs.
Tasker:
1) Double tap home screen to lock screen. Status bar is too far away to reach one handed.
2) Disable Heads-up when screen is on and enable it when screen is off. This is to trigger Ambient Display notifications while screen is off but leaving Heads-up turned off when screen is on as I find it too intrusive. I prefer the good old notification ticker on some custom ROMs
Titanium Backup: Backup and restore apps and settings easily on a new ROM. I.e. Good Vibrations for seamless transition between ROMs without having to reset the vibration settings every time.
Greenify: Root mode works so much better. More functions are unlocked with Xposed, but battery life is so good on the OP5T that I really have had no reason to do so.
AdAway: Remove Ads
Substratum: For a black theme to take advantage of the Amoled display and save battery.
Root Explorer: My favourite file explorer so far!

Disabling unwanted apps

Hello,
I've decided to come back to Android after seven years using iOS and the one thing that bothers me the most is the excessive amount of preinstalled bloatware (in Samsung devices, to be more precise).
Searching at the forum, I've seen some posts about CCSWE, Package Disabler Pro, and ADB, which seem to do the job.
However, I was looking for a more "lazy" solution to disable such apps, meaning that I do not want to root my device or installing ADB.
Hence, my question is: can I disable every single bloatware by simply accessing Settings > Apps? If not, can either CCSWE or Package Disabler Pro do the trick? Do they need root access?
Thanks in advance for your sage advices

Non of those options require root
Some / most of the bloatware can be disabled from settings > apps > apps info page
Some can't and needs one of the above options

I use PD MDM: https://www.packagedisabler.com/
Buy direct from their site. Been running it for over 3 years, with over 1 year on the 10+, it's stable, very low power consumption.
This is the lazy way plus it will disable apks that you can't kill in settings.
The optional interactive widget allows you to toggle checked apks on/off by touching the widget. Useful for apps like Playstore that you use but don't want running all the time. Will block carrier updates too.
I recommend PD.
Alright, guys.
Thanks for your inputs.

Bloatware remover for oneplus nord Oos 11

I used this apps it's really capable of uninstalling the bloatware on Android 11 Oos. I am not the developer of this apps, just sharing it. But be careful while uninstalling the bloatware apps. You end up in bootloop if you delete the essential system apps. So, be careful while uninstalling the system app, I myself and the developers are not liable in anyway if you brick your phone or any damage caused to your device.

I don't know if this really works, system partition is protected from any tampering. Deactivating shouldn't be a problem, but i don't think it will really remove it, otherwise Android wouldn't boot

Yes, I don't know how this apps works but it really does it's job. Unlike magisk module debloater, apps doesn't restores after uninstalling this apps.
Is gboard from Google removable or OnePlus Games without root?
I guess the Google app's contacts, agenda and Google drives aren't removable without breaking those functions in Android?

You need to root your device to remove it.
Confirmed working with root
When I root my device bank-app's for paying don't work anymore and that's what I really need as the most used apps on my Android mobile.
Now I've 5 or 6 apps that I don't update but those apps stay in the list of updates for apps. That is very annoying. Isn't there a way to hide those apps?

You can simply disable in apps options. And you don't even need to root for ir.
I did shut them down and set them off, but the gboard and gamespace app's stay in the list for updates.
Gmail can be set completely off (and even deleted) and don't show up for update.
Just as Contacts and Agenda from Google, but when you set those completely off, Outlook don't work anymore and it's not possible to set a new contact or appointment in the phone or Outlook-app.
Outlook or the Android system give an error like: no native app installed?
Yeah great!?

Question easy freeze/unfreeze app?

Hi there,
I run stock 62.1.A.0.645 (and no root of course).
Is there an easy way to freeze/unfreeze selected app (without uninstalling it)?
More details:
I'd like to use one phone and 2 smartwatches/bands: Samsung GW and Amazfit T-rex.
While using GW (most of the time) I'd like the Amazfit app (Zepp) to be frozen, but not uninstalled. And sometimes when I'd be using T-rex (while riding a bike or hiking) I'd like to unfreeze Zepp and freeze the Samsung app.
Titanium Backup might do the trick, but it needs root.
Also, I thought I could simply disable the app from apps manager, but I dont see that option with Zepp (only uninstall or force stop).
Any suggestions welcome.
TIA.

Back in the days I used to use an app called Greenify to hibernate background apps. It doesn't disable apps but it keeps them from running in the background so it accomplishes a similar thing. Nowadays Android also lets you restrict apps from running in the background, could work too.
Thanks for your helpful post. I'm so much glad to know more about it.
You can disable apps with terminal commands. Install a terminal app then read this.
To find out the package name of the app you want to disable/enable use App Inspector.
Be careful when disabling packages, make sure you just disable apps installed by you. Disabling preinstalled apps can mess up the phone if you don't know what you're doing and you'll end up having to factory reset it.
