I've bought the Porsche Design and was overwhelmed by the design, specs and performance especially the battery!
But I've discovered some things that really disappointed me!
1. The pro has hicloud and huawei accounts but the PD hasn't
2. An expensive phone like this has no international warranty what so ever.
3. Touch responsiveness has issues and the vibration to touch on the navigation keys cannot be disabled even if you choose the option in sound settings.
4. I expected fixes to be done with further updates and no release of updates is done!
I'm really disappointed, a master piece with no professional support!

1. I have a pro - don't particularly see the point of HiCloud - it was basically the same as my Samsung account, another place to sync my contacts and call log.. Usually if I want to backup/restore these (say if I am factory resetting) - then I use a 3rd Party PC application, as I didn't trust Samsung with it, nor do I trust Huawei with the restore.. Not sure what else the huawei account would incorporate - but theyve never answered my queries I sent them using my account... even after 2 or 3 requests for the same thing.
2. Same deal on the Pro - and they don't sell either of these in my country, so I have no in-country warranty, but I can return it to the store I bought it from if needed... bit annoying but I was aware of this at purchase time.
3. This has been fixed on the Pro - was fixed in B156 firmware (my current firmware), which build are you running on the PD.. maybe try and install B180 using Firmware Finder?
4. Well this is a known issue/fact (I have it on my Pro and some people have it on their Mate 9 - for example I have heard that none of the AU original Mate 9s have had any updates at all, not even on Firmware Finder!), but there is B172 and B180 for the PD... maybe one of them can be installed on yours with Firmware Finder?

Firmware Finder doesnt install the software it only lets you download the ZIP files or use the FF Proxy to tell the HW System Updater that the specific update is available and where to get it from... your system updater then downloads the firmware and runs a couple of checks, if its valid and is Authenticated for your device, itll install it (like a normal OTA is done), if it has not been authenticated for your Device, it will say "Authentication Failed" and won't install it...
Make sure you tick the "Use proxy for install" option in Firmware Finder settings, it will then tell you to download the Addon proxy and install it. After you do that, you go select one of the update, then choose to Send Firmware to Updater, enable the Proxy settings in your WiFi as detailed on the Proxy App page it takes you to and then go run a System Update check in your phone Settings (the OTA should then pop up and ask if you wish to install it). I believe if you read around on the other PD forums, some people mentioned the ~700MB sized OTA worked for B180... The worse that will happen is it will fail to start the install with Auth Failed in the System Updater.
Thank you very much for your response and help, I'll go on and try!

HI
I have the PD and it came with HICLOUD & HUAWEI Account.
The Touch response is great on my phone, the vibration works only on the HOME button.
You can update using HUAWEI FIRMWARE FINDER,as mentioned above.I did it that way to B180.
Which one did you pick? The 2gigs one or the 670mb one?
Sent from my LON-L29 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have tried them all but The lower number worked for me.
Hello mates ...
got my Mate 9 PD yesterday!
First, as soon as i insert the sim card, i got the update to B180 (from B138), it was around 700 mb!
HiCare and Huawei ID is also on my PD!
What Cust do you have?
On Funky Huawei there is also a B182 listed ... maybe i will try this!
The only thing, i got dissapointed ... i read somewhere, that the mate 9 will not get EMUI 5.1 ?
3. Touch responsiveness has issues and the vibration to touch on the navigation keys cannot be disabled even if you choose the option in sound settings.
Did you remove the screen "protector" that comes with the phone? Before i took it off i had issues with the touch too..
Finally updated to B180 and I can say that all issues were corrected. The Huawei ID was added, the touch responsiveness is way much better, the vibrate on touch for navigation keys can be disabled. There was a pink tint in the center of the camera image in low light conditions which I forgot to mention in which has improved slightly than before.
Overall I'm satisfied now.

Hello
We purchased on the same day my wife and myself a P6 and G6.
However the results after 2 months are surprising and disappointing.
G6 is much smoother, quicker, with no lags and super battery. My P6 is exactly the opposite! I dont know what is the problem or if it is the Rom or just the G6 is better...
Any ideas? Attached are screenshots of our systems.

It's not so surprising..
G6 has a better and newer soc than P6: a quad core A7 it's fast as a quad core A9, but (a lot) more efficient.
So.. yes G6 is faster, smoother and also has greater battery life.
Think positive.. G6 hasn't a good display as P6 or a metal body
(A little tip.. P6 with android 4.2 and emui 1.6, for example B125 rom, with normal energy profile is faster and a lot smoother compared to a rom with android 4.4 and emui2.3)
Ok thanks, some light to my problems! And when my wife asked me what was the difference between the two phones, i was just saying "mine is overall better than yours!"
So you suggest that i should backdate my P6 to get better performance and battery? The battery in simple words: is awful!

I've tried B510 and B520 rom, based on KK and EMUI 2.3
This roms, compared to B125 international (based on android 4.2 and EMUI 1.6) are a bit poor in terms of performance.
B125 has no bug, better performance and smoothness, battery is less or more the same, but i think that my P6 with B125 rom last a bit more.
Usually with a single charge, and with MY usage (whatsapp, news, weather and a bit of web browsing, no games..), on B125 the phone last 2 days (3 hours of active screen) or 1 days and half (about 4 hours of active screen).
I switch off mobile data when i know that i won't use my phone, this help a lot about battery life..
If you aren't satisfied with B512, i suggest you to try B125: the ui and the lockscreen aren't "beautiful" as on B512, but performance increase a lot, especially with normal energy profile (..and with intelligent energy profile, battery really last more)

Ah, our P6.
It's a gorgeous phone that needs a little tinkering.
If you don't want to root, can I suggest a little so called Deep Sleep battery saver? Playstore, free. Set it on slumberer, disable logging in general settings, disable the battery notifications, enable 'user present' in Deep Sleep.
That alone will extend your battery life, no end! It's really good.
If you don't mind rooting - it's very simple AND not permanent, search for an app called vroot, plug in and root, very simple.
Then get an an called greenify - play store, free.
Again, another few hours.
Then very small one for speed - sdcard booster
My phone lasts a full day with a single charge on 4.4 B512 (the latest update) and is very smooth.
Saved my life these. The P6 is a stylish phone with a gorgeous screen... Nothing else feels like it!

It is fully Chinese but it's VERY easy to use - one button. Make sure you have USB debugging checked in developer options.
Then, the first time you install an app, don't worry about the Chinese, tick the box and press the button on the right.

I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.

Widgets crashing on restart
Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:
1) Battery Widget Pro
2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

First of all I don't own a magic device however I use the magic firmware on my Honor 8 so I can't cover up all info about magic usage but most of them.
So Q/A
I can't install third party launchers, why?
Because huawei blocked this on this firmware. To install third party launchers you'll need root.
So I got a launcher installed. But I can't see any widgets?
Open /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml and find there will be a # before it which disables the feature. Just remove it and reboot.
Why doesn't notifications work?
By default third party apps gets disabled notifications (idk why) go to notifications and enable them for your new installed apps.
I can't see nfc option?
This is due to being disabled in earlier builds. However B536.1 evaluation versions brings nfc settings.
Some options are still in Chinese why?
They have informed you that the English language is still in beta (unfinished) this we might be able to fix with overlays.
More will come.

And since it's a test device rather then a official retail device it is likely they only are going to fix bugs etc. However I can't tell to a 100% but as its a half year since the device is released I doubt nougat is coming in near feature (if at all) there's no info as far as I can see (though I can't read or search in Chinese)

Hi There,
Magic phone is indeed magic like, feels really great and looks beautiful, very smooth feel in hand.
Needed few tips and tricks to make more use of it.
Are these possible without root, if rooted office email app will be blocked
1) How to install launcher as system app, Please pls guide. I'm dying to install Neon, Zero.
2) How to install Ultra battery mode? - it is present in Honor 6 and it's awesome!
3) Is it possible to reduce resolution - Screen power saving - like Honor 6, saves battery during night and driving
4) Possible to change keyboard during typing? Popups doesn't show in notification shade, it's painful to go to settings n change every time
TIA.
Tnx,

1. Without root is not possible to install any 3rd party launcher except google launcher.
2. Do you mean the ultrabattery launcher which comes with huawei? If so it could be possible.
3. Resolution i doubt without root, and no idea about that feature.
4. We'll if you don't use navigation bar no, if you do it might work. Can't tell since I don't use that firmware atm but I never saw any fast switch for keyboard

I've been trying to find it in the props and xmls, but I didn't find "carrier" or "operator" with a grep. It might be called something else.

Out for a few markets, based on the build number alone I would say just a bump to the January security update.
Downloading now (233,4MB for customized DE)
Edit: Can confirm, it's security update 1.1.2018
Device feels a lot snapier (like scrolling etc.).
Didn't find anything new.
Can't see any difference except security updates from 1.1.2018.
BTW guys, do you use notifications "priorities" in drop-down notifications panel?
Since the start of using XZ1c I have put my monitoring app to low priority so the app's notification bar was very slim in the notifications panel.
I've done hard reset now when updating the phone and I can't see such feature any more. Did they move it somewhere or it's gone?
I'm not talking about configuring audio/vibrations - this feature it's there for apps created for Oreo - I'm talking about customizing notification bar size in drop-down notifications panel.

I'm not talking about configuring audio/vibrations - this feature it's there for apps created for Oreo - I'm talking about customizing notification bar size in drop-down notifications panel.

Try to long press mini button in notification panel, al appear a new hidden menu, should be what you are looking for
Anyone who got this update using Linux and would like to give USB-Tethering a try? I'm stuck on an old version (47.1.A.5.51) and on this one, USB tethering download speeds are terrible (lots of RX packet errors, <1Mbps download speed). This was also an issue with some OnePlus phones which was fixed with a software update, so I'm hopeful that Sony will also fix it (although seeing how the smart lock blank screen bug is still there, my hopes aren't very high)

This enables/disables UI Calibrator (addidtional submenu in System menu) but there are no options regarding notifications.
What I'm talking about is shown below. Earlier I was able to assign chosen apps (for example System Panel monitoring tool) to low priority notifications, in picture below these are Clipper+, Network Monitor and USB charging device. "Android System 2 apps are using battery" is a normal priority notification here:

This is getting really depressing; those of us using USA firmware are being treated as second-class citizens. We're still on 47.1.A.2.234 with the August 2017 security patch.
Hm I didn't get an OTA as well and I'm on the North Columbian build (I think).
Don't want to reflash everything just because of a security patch.

I went looking for a manual firmware update for the g8141 on the US version and don't see it. that sucks! I would suggest you consider flashing to CE1, not only will it enable your fingerprint scanner it's updated more frequently.

There's a workaround for that. In Security, go to Trusted Agents and turn off smart lock, then reboot and turn it back on and the problem is solved.

Dude, we already know that....
But after some time, the bug returns. That's the problem. It only works for a few days

Is "CE1" an official stock firmware? I haven't done any firmware flashing since the days of Symbian; could you perhaps point me to a "Sony firmware flashing 101" tutorial that you would recommend? I want to make sure that I do it correctly. Thanks.

Customized DE and GEL seem to get updates even faster than CE1 from what I've seen. CE1 is still on 8.49 as of writing this, but DE and GEL are on 12.34. I'm currently running Customized UK and thinking of switching to one of those since I'm impatient.

power useage
Any other feedback on the new firmware? Still not availabe here in the UK.
What's the battery life like?
Am i the only one where everything works 100% after the new big 9,1 update?
Seems like many people have problems with low sound etc.
Btw i have the L29 636 version. And its not rooted.
I have random crash problem after updating 9.1
I've had it 2 days and no issues at all
Same here.
I've had zero issues....so far. Ha ha

Same version
So weird to have such different experiences. As mine is not rooted and I wouldn't know how to go back, I guess I will skip the update just in case

Mine is not rooted neither [emoji1303]
No issues here as well. Super happy!!!
Here are the main problems that I had:
1. Huge battery drain (there was a day I lost 5% in 2 min!!! doing nothing) compared to 9.0
2. Crashes (the phone would go black and then restart)
3. Lags (not only that ark compiler and EROFS didnt make the phone smoother, the phone felt so laggy and slugish compared to 9.0)
4. The sound was quite compared to 9.0
5. a lot of options were removed from the phone (for example from the launcher)
6. (My opinion) the 4x3 folder size was annoying and ugly
I fully downgraded back to 9.0.0.208 using FunkyHuawei and removed ARK compiler and EROFS

Got the New Update today. 9.1 tweak is great. This phone is still the best. The only problem I had was lock screen not showing WhatsApp and other third party notifications. Then that was fixed in 9.1. Well done Huawei. Phone hasn't showed at all. Camera is still one of the best. This phone is Future proof.

Does anybody have the Moon shot camera feature yet? Any samples? I'm really curious about that.
