G6 faster and smoother than P6 - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Hello
We purchased on the same day my wife and myself a P6 and G6.
However the results after 2 months are surprising and disappointing.
G6 is much smoother, quicker, with no lags and super battery. My P6 is exactly the opposite! I dont know what is the problem or if it is the Rom or just the G6 is better...
Any ideas? Attached are screenshots of our systems.

It's not so surprising..
G6 has a better and newer soc than P6: a quad core A7 it's fast as a quad core A9, but (a lot) more efficient.
So.. yes G6 is faster, smoother and also has greater battery life.
Think positive.. G6 hasn't a good display as P6 or a metal body
(A little tip.. P6 with android 4.2 and emui 1.6, for example B125 rom, with normal energy profile is faster and a lot smoother compared to a rom with android 4.4 and emui2.3)

Ok thanks, some light to my problems! And when my wife asked me what was the difference between the two phones, i was just saying "mine is overall better than yours!"
So you suggest that i should backdate my P6 to get better performance and battery? The battery in simple words: is awful!

I've tried B510 and B520 rom, based on KK and EMUI 2.3
This roms, compared to B125 international (based on android 4.2 and EMUI 1.6) are a bit poor in terms of performance.
B125 has no bug, better performance and smoothness, battery is less or more the same, but i think that my P6 with B125 rom last a bit more.
Usually with a single charge, and with MY usage (whatsapp, news, weather and a bit of web browsing, no games..), on B125 the phone last 2 days (3 hours of active screen) or 1 days and half (about 4 hours of active screen).
I switch off mobile data when i know that i won't use my phone, this help a lot about battery life..
If you aren't satisfied with B512, i suggest you to try B125: the ui and the lockscreen aren't "beautiful" as on B512, but performance increase a lot, especially with normal energy profile (..and with intelligent energy profile, battery really last more)

Ah, our P6.
It's a gorgeous phone that needs a little tinkering.
If you don't want to root, can I suggest a little so called Deep Sleep battery saver? Playstore, free. Set it on slumberer, disable logging in general settings, disable the battery notifications, enable 'user present' in Deep Sleep.
That alone will extend your battery life, no end! It's really good.
If you don't mind rooting - it's very simple AND not permanent, search for an app called vroot, plug in and root, very simple.
Then get an an called greenify - play store, free.
Again, another few hours.
Then very small one for speed - sdcard booster
My phone lasts a full day with a single charge on 4.4 B512 (the latest update) and is very smooth.
Saved my life these. The P6 is a stylish phone with a gorgeous screen... Nothing else feels like it!

hi guys, i rooted my phone so that i will have better luck with performance.
What ROM would you suggest it would be good?

I propose you International B520 - smooth, no bugs, good battery life - at least for me. You must try and find for yourself!

It is fully Chinese but it's VERY easy to use - one button. Make sure you have USB debugging checked in developer options.
Then, the first time you install an app, don't worry about the Chinese, tick the box and press the button on the right.

No need to do anything at all with VRoot - unless you want to.
If you want to unroot, just force reboot i.e. all buttons for 10 secs.

[Tip] How to analyze you battery drain

Hello all,
Here is my 2 cents contribution to all the people that are wondering why their batteries are out in 10 hours!
I would like to share my tool, and maybe get help with my code if people are interested.
MARKET LINK: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.WazaBe.android.BatteryDrain

The goal of my application is to show the battery drain in percent per hour.
This unit if for me the most important, I don't care about the charge level of my nexus.
So my analysis lead to:
5-10 % lost per hour when normal use.
more than 20% when on Youtube
about 1% (even less) during the night with wifi off.
Does it work on other devices running gingerbread??
Thanks for the app anyways!!

I just updated the app and removed thhe stupid graphs to have something more easy to read:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.WazaBe.android.BatteryDrain
Great idea! My suggestion would be to add an option to show how long it takes to lose 1% for each %battery.
Great app, but it doesn't seem to work with Force GPU Rendering On
Great idea, and here are my suggestions:
Feature to show summary
Something like this:
Start logging: [datetime]
Time now: [datetime]
Duration: [?d ?h ?m]
Average drain: 1% per X minutes.
Common phone settings:
* Brightness: ?%
* Airplane mode: ON
* WiFi: ON ?%
* 3G Data: ON ?%
* NFC: ON
* Sync: ON (5 accounts ... ) <--- if possible to check/stats
* etc.
----------------
When measuring WiFi/3G percentage, just check every 1% change whether it is OF or ON
The idea is to be able to make screenshot of this summary to compare with other user when discussing about battery drain.
You know, to make this tool as some kind of "standard" tool for battery drain measurement. That would be nice.

A lot of great suggestion, the main problem is to detect when wifi, 3G, Bluetooth, etc.. are ON during a lost of percent.. I will have to make a lot of approximations!
I will create a summary screen next week!

I'm using a GSM Galaxy Nexus that is running stock 4.0.2 thats unrooted and has a locked bootloader.
I downloaded the app from the market and initilly it didn't work with GPU Rendering. Since then, I believe you pushed an update? Now the UI is blue rather than white (a good choice) and now it does work with GPU Rendering on
Great start, love to see where this one goes.
DLed it. Will try it now..

Just to be clear, my app will never try to diagnose wich app is causing the drain, I don't want to make hasardous approximations...
My goal is to display the raw data in the most efficient way and to let the user make his own decisions and compare the drain with or without an app installed or some settings turned on off.
I will try to display only very accurate data only
Just a question...
Do you need a lot of explanation for the summary windows I just created?
I don't want to make a too complicated app and will now work on making the app nicer and more clear to understant, but I would like to know what id the most diffucult to understand from your side.
Thank a lot for your feedback.

I think those look good, just an easy way to see average drain. It would be quite cool if you could break it down with a couple of averages (kind of like you mentioned in your first post):
%drain during standby
%drain while in use
I like where your app is going so far. Keep up the good work!

I will of course implement that feature.
But you have to remember that the standby/in use detection will be quite approximative.
I need two consecutive points with screen OFF to start counting standby.
As you may turn on your screen during the interval, I don't like that for my computations... I can add some trigger, but I want my app to be nearly invisible regarding battery...
By the way, please wait one week or 2 and you will have something!
I'm quite good with the standby/in use detection being approximated. I'm primarily interested in seeing a value indicating battery drain in standby for long periods of time (like overnight) versus during the day while I am frequently using the device.
Definitely looking forward to what you can cook up!

Very Short Battery Life

hi guys!
i just got my LG Optimus LTE LU6200. the phone is fast and has great features.
the problem i am having now is i noticed it has a very short battery life. it barely can get one day to stay alive from basic usage (no gaming and wifi turned off, as well as 3g/4g are disabled; only texting and browsing the menu).
it is running on ICS 4.0.4 and rooted.

He means that the Optimus LTE has below average battery life, but even so, what you are describing is abnormal. Did you do a factory reset after you updated to ICS? (To perform a factory reset, turn the phone completely off, then hold the volume down and power buttons until you see a prompt asking if you want to perform a factory reset. Then release and follow the instructions. This clears all your installed apps and settings on the device.)

yes, his line is confusing. guess he is suffering too from battery performance on his p930
already tried that, i even calibrated the battery using a batt calibration application, and cycled the recharging but still no improvement. maybe this problem is due to the engineer's ICS ROM not tweaked to give better battery life?

check battery use under system settings. you'll see a list of all the processes that use up the battery. click on each one to see more info. if you see any in the list that keeps the system awake a lot, then you may have found the bug. i find that if the system gets awaken by these processes/apps, the battery tend to get drained really fast.

To save power, there are many way:
1. Shutdown apps run on background by system tuner pro.
2. Setting display to 20 - 30%.
3. Remove unneccesary apps from system apps.
4. Shutdown 3G, wifi, GPS when you don't need to use.

It would be nice if some battery performance tweaks be incorporated into the ROM

Hey!
You could try a 3rd party Wear battery stats app, like this, to see if it can throw more light on it for you.
If that doesn't help, to troubleshoot, you could factory reset your watch (in settings), then reconnect/pair it to back your phone, but don't resync your apps just yet at this point.
When the watch and phone are successfully paired, recheck your battery stats after a few minutes and see if the mystery app returns in the list. If it does show up again, you know it's a stock app, and there's probably nothing to worry about. If it doesn't reappear, and only shows up when you resync your apps to the watch, you then know it's something you've installed yourself.
If it bothers you that much, you could perform another factory reset and install your apps back onto the device one by one, checking your battery stats after a few minutes along the way to see which one is the culprit.
Incidentally, I don't have the no-name app on my SW3 running 5.0.2 with the latest Wear app, and honestly I don't think it's good practice by a developer to leave an app in that state purposely, so I'd be wary of it to be honest - looks kinda dodgy!
Best of luck!

Awesome! Thanks for all of your suggestions I am just in the process of using the app you suggested to track down what application that running service belongs too. It's not bothering me massively, just seems a little suspicious as you say.
What lead me to look there in the first place was that my battery is only lasting me around about 3/4 of a day! Which is a hell of a lot less than all the reviews have stated i should be getting out of it.
I may well try a factory reset tbh...just to see 1. if that service goes away using your methods for checking 2. to see if my battery improves. Will report back when I know more anyway, hopefully be able to help others out who have the same issue.
I did actually have 2 apps with the same lack of name at one point...very odd!
Edit: Damn just seen that the app you suggested required xposed on my phone which I don't have at present due to running lollipop and not wanting to use the alpha

Oh okay, my bad! . It just wasn't showing any info and it said that I must be rooted and have xPosed installed. I went for the full reset and app re-sync option anyway as I want to try and fix the bad battery life...will see if that also resolves the mystery app issue!
Odd! I now have a black one too..
I had fast battery drain because of an animated face...it showed usage 2 percent but in reality was way way more... Just set a standard face and test it for a day

I think that's the case yanno! I had an animated face set and the battery was draining really really quickly! I was charging it twice a day, I set a different watch face (still slightly animated) but the battery went for a whole day then and still had 30% left!!

I have a few questions before I get a ZF2
How is the battery life now ? Did they fixed the battery drain ?
Is Lolipop 5.1 available for this phone ?
Did they improved the camera ? I remember some reviews complaining about the lack of DR in most pictures.
Thank you.

you should check Android authority's review and tons of people are complaining about the battery life. Maybe you got the phone with an update preinstalled ? That would be a good news !
Are you a moderate user like me ? If you are, how much battery do you have left at the end of the day ?
Thank you
I have it for a month now, got it with an old firmware, now i'm running latest. I get 6 - 7 hours sot over 24 hours. Also, don't use the integrated Asus task killer, battery saver and autostart manager. They only drain battery. I rooted and installed a custom rom that has almost all Asus apps removed but i didn't have battery problems on stock rom either. There is an "android system" that is showing on top of battery usage but it is not a problem for me as it only drains 2-3% over night. I olso turn on data, wifi or gps, only when i need them. I always get top battery life on every smartphone i have, i don't think this is coincidence or luck. The drain is exactly the same as on every other powerfull smartphone on the market.
This phone receives software updates every two weeks and is getting better and better. It just got a new update today if you look in general section. What other oem updates their flagship so often? ?

As previously mentioned, there is no extra battery drain on this phone. It holds up to a good 5-6 hours on daily use. It is an amazing device except for the camera, which is the only bad thing I find about the phone.
Incase you're wondering, ZenUI is AMAZING! I don't know why everyone hates on it, but I've used almost EVERY manufacturer's edition of Android and ZenUI is by far the best. It is the most customizable, it looks the cleanest, and it takes medium amounts of RAM. I say 'medium' because HTC takes A LOT, Sony is whatever, LG is okay, and Samsung takes TOO MUCH.
I feel like ZenUI combines the best in all of the skins and features into 1 neat package that is highly customizable. NOT TO MENTION, you get tap 2 wake STOCK while I had to custom ROM custom Kernel my HTC in order to get a battery hungry and impractical version of it.
Just buy the phone, and make sure to get the 2.3GHz/4GB RAM version.
Enjoy

I'm running stock and get ALMOST what he's getting with stock kernel.
The key is to get root and uninstall/freeze any ASUS apps you don't need/use, install Xposed and use Greenify to freeze apps after they are closed, and finally, set proper battery options such as disabling WiFi & 4G when the screen is off. I need constant email notifications so with the automatic Data Disabling option, I set the GMAIL app as its exception and I continue to get notifications at 10 minute intervals. I assume it disables the networks but re-enables them momentarily and lets GMAIL sync, then disables again. I've never seen this done before especially as a STOCK option.

there is no battery draining (for now) when both are enable anyway, so I dont see why I should turn it off. The battery start draining fast as soon as Im using it. It is by far the worst battery life I ever got.
The good news is I can apparently return the phone at no cost, not even the shipping. I will know more next week. Hurray !

let's flash again!
OMS?
Hi there,
Good to see more Nougat ROMs popping.
Does this build already contain the fix for the green artifacts whilst recording via Google Camera?
IWell guys I must say that on first impressions in very impressed.
The ROM downloaded very quickly
I flashed exactly as you said, wipe and clean install.
First time I tried it with open GAPPs 7.1Stock and it went through the installation process went through to installing super su then bounced back to TWRP when it came to installing GAPPs
I tried again with GAPPS 7.1 nano that I had used in a pervious ROM and it all installed no bother.
It did boot loop a couple of times before it got to the ANDROID boot animation.
I like the way the the ANDROID just sort of glimmers its simple and different.
It only took a few mins to boot and run through the set up and with use of titanium backup I had the whole thing set up in 10 mins.
The black and blue theme looks really good on my black Nexus.!
I ran through all the settings and couldn't find anything that isn't working for what I use.
I dont use this phone as a daily so I can't comment on the sim / signal / 4g etc.
All in all this looks like a great ROM that looks different from the others.
I prefer the Nova Launcher that you included over the pixel just coz I can do more with it.
This ROM is fast, smooth really well put together and looks different from the others.
It's the inbuilt theme engine that makes this a real winner although I'm not sure if you can add more theme than what are provided. There is enough there for me
Nice one guys
Thank you for you work.
Yes I have been poisoned by Cyanide
John
Cyanide has inbuilt themeing options, so OMS isn't merged. Substratum legacy may work if you don't apply framework. In built themeing includes changing of colours and fonts which is applicable almost everywhere.
I'm not asking for ETA's just asking if updates will be OTA or manual ?
Can someone make a screenshot of the features included?
What do you want a screen shot of ? There at lots in the O.P
No bettery percentage in systems user Interface

I'm noticing that my battery seems to be draining very quickly.
It goes onto doze mode no bother when the phone isn't being moved.
I used TB to back up 2 apps and the battery was empty.
I did calibration with the battery when first installed.
I will do a screen shot on the next battery cycle.
John
Last battery cycle
I just had a quick go of the video recorder and it films and records & plays all good.
Just need to look at the battery
Second battery cycle.
This is without a SIM card
The ROM dose mode is working as the battery life doesn't move until you start to move the phone.
I'm not playing any games.
No extreme use only on Google + and on here XDA
Battery saver is on
Hope this is of some use.
I really like the ROM but the battery is running out very quickly but then it only takes half hour or so to fully recharge

So to have a look at the issue. I clean flashed my build. Again. Initially got the heavy battery drain from Android System and Miscellaneous, did a few reboots, no effect. So what I did was, enabled Battery Saver and then disabled it. Don't know why though but the heavy battery drain was gone for me. At 39% stats showed around 1 hour and 20 minutes left. Used it till the phone was off and yep, I got more than an hour of usage from those 39%. So I think it must be an app misbehaving in the background. And this battery drain issue is present in a lot of ROMs, like AOSiP and Fake Nexus. So its just an app draining the battery.

I can't get online with my Nexus at the MO due to hotspot issues.
I will get some screenshots up for you although I'm nothing to do with this ROM I'm just a tester.
You could always just flash the ROM yourself and have a look.
Failing that I'm sure that the developer will put up what you need.
It's a smart ROM. Looks good
