The Device is a I9195.
It had the Stock Rom, I think Lollipop? not Sure, it was the newest aviable via OTA. It had some serious battery issues and sometimes the App not Responding prompt appeared for diffrent apps. They usually vanished after a few seconds. Today I flashed TWRP, took a backup of the full Rom and flashed the daily LineageOS build from the general section. It all worked fine until I realised that I forgot to copy the Contacts. Back to TWRP and made another backup of LineageOS. The I restored the Stock one. After it booted up, I entered my PIN and thats all. Blackscreen and random App not responding popping up all the time. Even after a wait of at least 30 mins nothing changed. So I just copied the contacts2.db file via TWRP and tried to restore my Lineage backup. After booting up, guess what, App not responding, after waiting like a minute, back to bootscreen for a loop. Back to TWRP, full wipe, reflash, After boot, the same. I tried it several times now and I don know what to do. My next thing to try would be flashing RR, but at this point I dont know if it will change anything at all.

Assuming you did a full wipe as you say then maybe it's a Gapps problem as apps not responding, what gapps source did you use? Was it arm, android 7.1 & micro or smaller? Did you install your old app data?
You could try going back to stock then reflash LOS again, maybe with gapps from a different source, and don't reinstall app data from your backup.
(BTW. When you have a "black screen" does it show the notification bar at the top & can you pull down the quick settings? Does the power off menu work? So in other words, different screen layers seem to work so you see the app not responding msg (though I didn't get app not responding msg). I had this when I first tried LOS14, can't remember if I fixed it ..... or was that LOS13? ....... Or do you mean your whole screen is black but just some msg pop up?)

BTW My Phone Explorer is a good way to sync your contacts, calendar, some files etc locally with your PC without going through Goggle, and also getting them onto a new rom

I tried it with arm 7.1.1 Aroma Package Gapps. The first time it worked fine. After the restore and the wipes etc. I tried it with and without Gapps, but it just showed the black screen and the messages pop up. No notifications. I was able to open up the power menu like normal, on LineOS and on Stock. They behaved the same. I'm now on RR and this seems to work fine. I'll report if something weird happens, its the phone of my father.

My camera for my Galaxy Nexus has been broke for the last several weeks.
When opened, a black screen opens before shortly thereafter giving the message "gallery is unresponsive" and force closes.
I restored to AOKP build 3, updated the ROM to build 4 and flashed that (after corresponding factory reset, wipe data/cache/dalvik).
Now the camera opens, shows the "take picture" etc buttons but still has a black screen and force closes.
I assume while flashing different ROMs I had restored using Titanium backup a system setting/app that caused this problem.
I understand this question has been asked, but I have to find a solution to my problem (I have done battery pull etc.)
Any help will be appreciated.
I should mention that I have had a couple messages over the previous couple weeks where it says "SIM card invalid" and phone restarts.
I have not had this message is several days.
have you tried a different ROM?
use RootBox 4.2.2
ive been using it no problems and amazing battery life, not to mention the smoothness and pure awesomeness of the ROM

Yes. Originally this problem happened shortly after flashing codename. With this ROM, a black screen would show and then "gallery is unresponsive."
I reverted to AOKP and flashed updated version. Now camera app opens, shows the take picture etc. buttons on bottom but where the actual picture should be stays black and gallery goes unresponsive.
Have also tried deleting camera apk and re-flashing a downloading camera zip file. Same problem.

Cleared data and cache for the app. Same issue.
Very frustrating issue.
Fast boot flash back to stock. If camera is still acting up then its more than likely hardware issues
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
do you get any messages after boy saying something like: com.xxx.xxx has unexpectedly stopped. this has happened to me to. you have to format your sd card. try that
remember to backup all your important file from the sd card to your computer EXCEPT the DCIM (where a'll your pictures and stuff are. anything related to the gallery don't backup)
Why not try a complete wipe.
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase system
In that order
then fastboot back to stock as mentioned by namtombout.
If that doesn't work it is indeed a hardware issue.

I don't think I've got any of these messages..
I will attempt the complete wipe per instructions in this thread (simply working up to the time that I actually will go through with it). I'm thinking I must have restored some system settings/camera settings from titanium backup during one of my recent ROM changes.
My battery life has been awfully poor lately as well....wondering if the restore of some system setting screwed with that as well...
Hopefully the complete wipe will get things back in order.

after you complete the wipe, DO NOT use titanium backup to restore your apps (even user apps). try fresh ones from the play store and see if that helps. if not im afraid you will have to go back to stock and then root again, flash a new ROM again, and then download your apps from the play store.
this problem has happened to me with my old phone (Samsung Captivate) but the formatting of the SD card fixed that for a while, when it started again i did the steps above and the phone worked better than ever.
This thread is intended for discussing CyanogenMod 12 by @arco68 for our Galaxy W:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...cyanogenmod-12-0-20141230-unofficial-t2988830
NB. Read the installation instructions carefully as its quite different from previous ROMs.
NB. The first boot can take up to 50 minutes during which you'll see nothing but the boot animation.
NB. This ROM is still in its infancy, and many CyanogenMod features have yet to be included in upstream.
Huge thanks to arco68 and Christopher83 for making this ROM a reality.
Well, devs saddle up, end users rejoice...but this is certainly a huge amount of work done in a short time period, given the amount of differences.
...I'll miss Xposed until it's updated. Hoping that V4A will still work.
I've been using it for a couple of hours now, and I'm really surprised at how well its working!!
Most of the bugs I've run into are non-device-specific, and are due to the infancy of CM12 upstream.
Whats really funny is that not even my Nexus received 5.0.2 yet :')

Yeah, plenty of upstream bugs and feature limitations.
Hoping to get some magically unsecret things sorted out with CM12 in an effort to test various new things.
Seems like Performance option not implemented yet on settings. CMIIW
So, any idea how to get translucent status bar without changing build.prop?

I think the only way is editing build.prop for now
Everything has gone fine until I install a "smartkeyboardpro" offline apk. After the apk installation finished, the screen went blank and i didn't see any display responses on the screen. But when I pressed and hold the power button, 'shutdown' and 'reboot' options appeared so I just rebooted my phone. The phone then rebooted and there came up a 'android is upgrading' followed by 'android is optimizing 1 app'.. but it seemed to take forever that I decided to re-wipe and re-install the rom
On the second boot, I got optimizing 3 apps message too. Took about 15 minutes.
Subsequent reboots are all fine.

yeah it took so long and i never thought that it would last like 15 minutes..
I'll try to install offline apk again and see what happens..
The optimizing apps on second boot is TRIM running. Google changed this in 5.0.2, so now it is run automatically once a day. Either during the night while phone is charging or after you reboot.
After I log in to my google account, google ask me to backup data and apps or not
Then I choose yes and just select 5 apps (total around 80 Mb)
Then it says restoring...
It is so long waiting. So, I reboot and I cant bypass to launcher. It still says restoring after I reboot. Im still waiting now...

that's because you've select to restore your applications that synced on google play (backup) service, So you have to wait until all apps installed.
I was select as new device, so I have to install one by one from play store again.
encryption unsuccessful ,how can i fix it;? please help
I don't think encryption on a phone like ours is a good idea. (single core, 512MB, very slow MMC)
It slowed the hell outta my new Nexus!!
Any ideas on what to do with the .img files inside the zip if I, say, wanted to edit the system contents before flashing so I can remove/replace applications?
I found strange black screens inside folders gallery, all black screens persist for every single picture on gallery, and make looks like cheese board pattern

So I reinstall and select nothing. It works. I dont know what is the problem anyway. If I watch youtube, the restoring is just less then a minute then it jumps to launcher then continue to download selected apps. In my case, it stucks at restoring...
Other question: Gesture typing is not working on AOSP keyboard, I have enabled gesture typing in setting. Is it just me or not?

This is fixed with latest CWM 6.0.5.1 fresh install from here. For flashing details see first post at CM12 Mr. Arne thread, especially CWM section. I also have been updated my CWM few months ago to apparently "old" 6.0.5.1, but there was no option "format /data and /data/media" under "mounts and storage" menu. Only "format /data". Good Luck!

Do we need seperate gapps pack for this?
Edit: okay, so just downloaded and installed the zip. Installed in 3 seconds. Started booting up and came to the point of booting in to the UI, indicated by a tiny vibration, another vibration a few seconds apart, then another and another. Never came to life in 30 minutes of vibration.
Cleared cache, data and dalvik and reflashed. Same stuff happening all over.

Its installed now! A few things:
* Setting to choose 2g/3g is disabled
* Nandroid manager crashes while trying to restore apps from previous backup
* Many apps are still Japanese (including MI app store) which i have deleted with root uninstaller and installed play store.
* I really like the implementation of roundr (which was also part of Lewa OS) however if we could implement transparent status bar as well, like Lewa OS; it would've been fab.
* Home, back, recent keys are too big, is there any way to reduce their size?
* Last but not the least, themes app has all chinese themes. Where can I get english themes for this launcher?
I could make out these many points till now. Will update once I use it thoroughly.

Hmmm!!! Working on it now. Though looks beautiful but facing many issues.
Battery from 100 to 50 in 40 minutes, with 2G web browsing, Trying to restore data and apps from Old Nandroid Backup and 1 incoming call.
Nandroid Manager Crashing while trying to restore data, so using AppExtractor. It is restoring the user apps but stuck on Restoring data. Though it may be a problem with this application. Still trying to figure out a way to restore my contacts from Nandroid backup.
There is a lag of 1-2 seconds while getting screen On by using power button.
Nav Bar can be smaller. It's, like, Huge as of now.
From my earlier feedback, Status Bar IS transparent on Home screen, so +1 there.
Unable to install Google Play store from anywhere, and need to it for license verification for somefree and paid apps, line Titanium Backup etc.
Rest will let you know further.
any where in rom still china language
Had to come back to Lewa OS. Rom kept giving me error "process android.acore has stopped" for some reason.
really
So yesterday I set a pattern lockscreen to my S4 Mini running the last CM12.1 Nightly. At first it worked as it should but then I tried to access my phone only to see an empty screen (with the launcher wallpaper in the background) where the pattern lockscreen (the pattern dots) should be. I tried to draw the pattern I set estimating where the pattern dots would be but all I get is "wrong pattern". When I get it wrong five or ten times, CM asks me to try again in x seconds. I do not get any alternatives like giving my Google Account details etc. What this means is that I cannot get pass the empty lock screen to access my device.
I've tried wiping cache/dalvik via TWRP, rebooting, taking the battery out etc. but nothing works. I'd flash another nightly but CM has gone to CM13 and CM12.1 Nightlies do not seem to be available any more (the CM12.1 links here do not work).
Any ideas (preferably other then starting from scratch)?

Thanks for the suggestion. Before I noticed this I did find a workaround not requiring to start from scratch. I had a 3-week-old nandroid backup to which I went back and then extracted the missing app data (Whatsapp discussions etc.) with Titanium (I took a nandroid from the malfunctioning ROM before I restored to an older, functioning one). All is well now and I won't be trying the pattern lock screen any time soon.
Okay every app I use works just fine but I never tried Ipvanish until now. I have a subscription. When I log into the app you're greeted with the green "connect" button, but when I press it nothing happens...no pop ups. Nada.
Pc works fine. Girlfriends Le Eco Pro 3 ipvanish fine. But on this phone nothing happens...
I have the xXx magisk 3.0 addon but I tried this before and after to no avail. Any ideas?
Just dis a clean flash of everything. Hooked up to the PC and even facstboot erased boot, then flashed the latest update just relwased today the full OTA, and a clean flash with everything wiped IP vanish still doesn't work.
Seriously. Anyone else have IP vanish and is it working for you?

Well you're are experiencing the EXACT same issue I had on AOSP with the EXACT same app, IP Vanish.

Yeah I hear yuh I was using a custom rom last week that had smart pixels and nothing was freaking working in that rom even without touching it, so I went back to stock. I have had really bad drains and stuff too lately which is unusual.
I searched for it and theres nothing there. I downloaded a pixel app on the playstore just for kicks to no avail.
I think tonight i'll redo my phone AGAIN, and fastboot erase/format everytjing including recovery because why not! And flash stock again, with no verity, and see what happens, then add magisk and the xXx mod ontop again and see. I'll update yuh. Thanks for lookin out though!
Okay. IDK what happened but I fastboot erase/formatted everything, erased recovery, flashed new trwp and I couldn't for the life of me get a USB c drive to work, so after like 2 hours of flashing and FINALLY getting the phone to decrypt, I flashed the xXx package again and logged in, downloaded IPVanish and THIS time, it finally threw a prompt to give access or whatnot. I could NOT get that to go on any of my previous roms...lol
So i'm all good now.
