Is there an Android 4.0+ for Kindle Fire with full OpenGL ES 2.0 support?
I am planning to buy this device for game development and OGL 2.0 support is a critical feature
I'm not sure you can even buy an Android device that doesn't support OpenGL 2... I'm pretty sure even the real cheap-o ones support it.
But anyway, yes, it does support GL2.
I've been trying out a few games on the Pixel C and have found a lot of issues, specifically with games using full OpenGL as opposed to OpenGL ES.
So far, I found the following:
Trine 2 Doesn't even start, the developers tell me the Pixel C is not supported but they can't mark it as such on the play store for some reason.
The Talos Principle Works, but most of the effects break the rendering, so it will only run with basic visuals.
Anyone else have any to add?
All the games I have tried work fine. The only exception was Hitman Sniper. That game worked fine before they did a Christmas update, now I have graphics problems.
The games I have played and worked are: This War of Mine, Pac Man 256, Horizon Chase and Geometry Wars.

I believe all these are OpenGL ES games as they all have an IOS port. I'm specifically looking for full OpenGL games that have been written specifically for, or ported from PC and console, to Tegra K1 & X1 devices e.g Pixel C, Shield tablet & Shield AndroidTV.
Thanks for the input.

are you sure that full opengl games are supported by google on the pixel c and not only by shield devices?
Maybe it’s like on the n9.

I'm not sure at all as Google have not made it clear. This is what I'm trying to determine.
If Google are aiming the Pixel C at productivity users, supporting Desktop OpenGL is a good way to help developers port their software.
HL2: Ep2 - crash after valve logo. War Thunder - crash on start. Doom 3 BFG - crash on start

if you’re rooted try gl tools and set it to emulate the shield tablet.

Seriously? GLTools contains alternative OpenGL ES driver.
->OpenGL games
->OpenGL ES driver
->emulate the shield tablet
What?

At least Half life 2 should be playable on pixel c.

lol. Tegra 4 is incompatible with OpenGL. So, HL2 on tegra 4, or emulation of tegra 4, is NO OPENGL GAME. You can stop gltools advertising.
tegra 4 was 3 years ago, best to use nvidia tv or the upcoming[hopefully] shield x1.
I know this thread is pretty old but I have had the same issue with Hitman Sniper, and also Unpossible runs but none of the menus will display.
tons of games crash on startup that im pretty sure dont even use opengl. i wish i could remember which ones but it was a good chunk of them. if i find them ill come back here.

Hello, I installed DIII4A (DOOM3) and QIII4A on my pixel C and they worked well. I think the apps for the shield don't work on pixel C.

Sorry for the thread necro. I'm on AICP Pie and when I go into the play store for D3 BFG edition it says 'your device is not compatible' even though we've got an X1 chipset. What gives?
I installed DIII4A manually not from play store.
hey guys, can you run vulkan apps?? like ppsspp or dolphin emulator....?
I don't think that google removed vulkan from this device
vulkan is not magic. Vulkan drivers are here, but we need software that use vulkan.
I'm using dolphin...whit dolphin we can use vulkan but is extremely buggy, because qualcomm has wrote ****ty vulkan drivers (same as sammy), as you can read in dolphin forum.
Actually the only mobile chipset with good vulkan drivers are nvidia k1 & x1.
Okay but what about ppsspp? It has vulkan support, but doesn't show any option to enable
I know some about graphic engines and stuff, my question is Just about compatibility and the actual presence of the driver in this phone
I was thinking about both Pixel C and Nintendo Switch uses Tegra X1 and it was hacked by fusee gelee exploit so would it be possible to install custom rom on Pixel C to run Switch games? Anyone has ideas about technical possibility?

Custom ROM on Pixel C can be installed without an exploit. The problem is to create firmware ala Switch. Since this is a closed-source firmware.
