Cannot undo encryption on KitKat based rom

Ok, so I was on stock 4.3 rooted.
Installed resurrection rom, booted fine, google restored all my apps. everything was great. then I tried to install air watch mdm agent to get my work emails. it started the encruption process. I gave the password 1234 when it said "enter a password to decrypt device. encryption finished but Air watch mdm reported incompliant device so I could not get the work email setup. Now I tried to decrypt the device by doing factory reset from settings menu, it asks for my password, proceeds to reboot the phone, then it boots into team win recover and asks for my decrypt password but will not accept it. I cancel out, reboot using team win recovery reboot option and phone boots and asks for decrypt password, 1234, it takes it boots up but still says device is encrypted.
Since I can't get air watch mdm to work, I must go back to my stock using nandroid backup restore.
Do I need samsung recovery to decrypt? TWRP will not accept the password.
TWRP is 2.6.3.1

How do I decrypt this phone now? please help.
Thanks in advance

TWRP decrypt failed even with good password.

TWRP failed to decrpt even with good password.
i already change the PIN Password of my phone but even after i reboot back to TWRP then tried to decrypt it using the correct password still it gives me decrypt fail.
it already happens to my phone twice.. the first time it happened to i format my phone data and lose all of my data in internal storage. i dont want to format my phone again. i can still boot to normal mode but when i tried to use TWRP it always gives decrpt fail error.

Try this in twrp

I canceled the encryption after 1 or 2 correct PIN inputs -- it still opens TWRP but it can't detect any files -- and *then* I touch the "Mount" button, choose the partitions I want mounted, and it suddenly says encryption successful, and I can access my files.

Brick my phone. But TWRP (ver. 3.0.2-1) asks for a decryption password?

Hello from Antwerp.
Can someone help me please? I am contacting you, because my phone does not start anymore. However I can get into TWRP. But TWRP (v. 3.0.2-1) asks a password. In former days I have crypt my phone. But I have done this with a 6-pattern. But now TWRP only accept numbers (or letters). Does someone of you maybe know, how I can enter a 6-pattern code as a numeric code? Or is there a possibility to change the password prompt into a pattern within TWRP? Maybe then I can get further afterwords.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi.
There are a lot of questions open. What firmware are you using? What TWRP version exactly? What do you want to achieve with decrypting /data?
If you just want your phone booting again the easiest way would be skipping the password prompt, wipe /data, /system, caches and reinstall your firmware.
If not:
Pattern-->Numbers works as described here https://twrp.me/faq/openrecoveryscript.html (Scroll down to Specific pattern decrypt note).
The thing now is, that you need to have 2 things:
TWRP capable of decrypt /data
Android version < 8
Decryption in TWRP for Android >= 8 isn't working right now. But you can tell me if you find a version capable of doing so.
If decryption worked that doesn't mean you'll be able to boot again. You can save your data but that's it. Are there known problems with decryption on your firmware?
You can try to backup /data after successful decryption, do a clean install and import backup afterwards.

Recovery: LOS-Recovery --> TWRP: can't decrypt partition

Hello,
I've got a Samsung S9 with LOS 17.1. I had LOS-Recovery and tried to switch to TWRP because I'd like to install supersu to get root access for Titanium Backup.
Now TWRP says it can't decrypt the phone. I put in the right pattern, but it still says "Unable to mount storage". Even though I never encrypted the storage.
What can I do? Thanks
disable device encryption by turning off the screen lock then reboot into recovery. it will work then. dont forget to turn encryption back on when you are done.
