OS choice. - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hello XDA,
I on my past phones I have used a wide variety of ROMs, but on my OP3 the camera quality drops if it is not OxygenOS based.
My question is, what is the best Oxygen based ROM? I have been using FreedomOS/FOS CE for about a year, but now I see others popping up like Experience ROM.
Which of these two has more features? What other O2 based ROMs are worth nothing?
I haven't had much success with mixing CM and flashable Oxygen camera zips, so that's why I prefer to stick to Oxygen based ROMs.
Thanks

They are pretty similar. I'd prefer Experience because I'd use only the debloated ROM with Arise, Adaway, adfree youtube with supersu. I personally use Sultanxda's cm 13 build. It's stable and camera quality is almost on par with OOS.

Experience and Freedom are pretty much the same.
i personally like FreedomOS more, cause nevax always has some interesting new ideas for features. but if you want completely debloated ROM you can also choose it in aroma installer also.

Which CM build do you prefer? ARTER97'S or Sultanxda or PureCM

So guys, what dou think which one do you prefer and why ?
Would be awesome to read some reviews. I really interested which one everyone likes?
Cause i dont know how to edit the pool, you cann vote here for all cm editions you can found or you have tested on the oneplus three.
There are PureCM, Sultanxda CM, Arter97s CM and so on ... If i miss some edition, just write it down and tell me why its good for you
@ZeNiXxX are you able to edit the poll and add "Pure CM" ?
That is the third most interesting "near stock CM" ROM that I'm following because it has just little modifications from official CM (some kernel tweaks and a couple of useful features added, plus built-in root).
With all due respect I find that custom ROMs like Resurrection Remix or PAC go a bit overboard on merging every possible feature.
Not that there is anything wrong with them as long as they keep stability, but the feeling is that those ROMs are bloated with features that I'd not use anyway.
Ah, and for sensible people complaining for this thread: come on, there's nothing wrong to prefer one ROM over another, it's just a matter of personal taste and of features / tweaks added by individual developers.
Why would anyone be offended if I prefer a Mercedes over a BMW, for instance?!?
I have nothing against other roms, but I would suggest to add all CM based roms (including stock cm) into the poll.
Why leave out others?

i thought that are the most favourite cm roms here. I'm trying to add the other to, did someone know how to edit the pool ?
Personnaly, I tested out sultan and official CM and I prefer official CM cause more updates, more follow-up, and the SuperSU is integrated so I can use some old Xposed apps that used system root and yet still use the latest version of SuperSu systemless
Sultan ROM is great but not enough updates for me, I'm like a flashoholic. The greatest thing that we can do is merge sultan stuff for the camera in the official CM ROM in order to increase the quality.
For the other ROMs, I find that they bring on too many features and they are really hard to understand sometimes, especially where the features are, etc...
Sultan
arter97 with the kernel. Amazing speed and battery life.
@ZeNiXxX, unlike your previous thread this is good title favoring discussion
None of the above roms i prefer Pure CM and jgcaap's rom. The reason is the great performance stabillity and battery life.
PURE CM
Neither. How about stock.

OxygenOS 4.0 vs CyanogenMod/LineageOS

Hello guys,
I've recently installed OxygenOS 4.0 on my OP3 and it's not that I don't like it but I miss some features and things like that...I'm just used to CyanogenMod I think.
Is there anyone who has tried both and can tell me if CM/LOS is still riddled with bugs or it can be used as a daily driver without major issues? Also how's battery life on LOS?
Thanks for all the inputs my beloved OP3 users,
jay.
EDIT: Nevermind.............made my decision anyway, thread can be closed/deleted.
So which rom do you use now?
After trying almost every cyanogen/lineage rom and almost every AOSP rom, and despite that they released 7.1.1 already, they are full of bugs and crushes. And the most annoying bug is the call echoes, even in roms where this fixed, the in call vlume so low! And you can control it..
So imho, even that OOS 4 lack of customization, it is most stable and a perfect daily driver

I use Sultans CM 13 build, the best ROM out there.
there are so much good roms out there.. but yes, OOS 4.0 is really nice and fast.
i run 2 roms atm, but also tried much others (FOS, RR, BJRR, ) and no, they are NOT full of bugs.
atm i run OOS 4.0 and Dirty Unicorns.
both are fast, stable and nice.
Kernel sources for Nougat will roll out when oos4. Is rolling out globaly

About OxygenOS

It might not be the best board to ask about it, but I got my OP3 a few months back, and since then I changed ROMs a lot (like, really a lot). I found myself liking a lot OxygenOS (Oneplus apps like dialer, camera and explorer are really nice, and I'm digging a lot the power menu), but also features from AOSP (statusbar customisation mainly, also Substratum).
So I was wondering if there was any possibility to fuse these roms? I'm a big noob concerning coding on Android, so I might be asking for an absurdity, and I'd like to know why.
Thanks for reading.
Possible? Yes.
Viable? No.
It's A LOT of work to do that. Some things can be easily ported, some are near impossible or won't work as good as they should. For example, OOS camera has been ported to custom ROMs, but some features just don't work.

Substratum is available on freedom OS which is based on oxygen OS
Its important to know that what you want must be based on oos. So you should look for roms based on oos. Because its much more work to get things from oos to aosp roms.

smoothest custom ROM ? (Nugat)

Lineage 14.1(SULTAN) , paranoid, RR ....OR ANY OTHER ROM ?
Paranoid or anything that can take blu_spark kernel. Sultan's is also OK.

Pa > los > rr
Pa is best stable ,feature rich, camera quality, smoothness everything
Sultans on 1+3 is nice, but if you remove the underclock. There is a lot of stutter with the underclock.
I was pleasantly surprised by Paranoid Android, very very smooth rom. Didn't keep that long though because 'custom camera hal'
Now I have the rom that is equally smooth to paranoid Android, stock oos (beta 29)
I love oos, very very smooth and amazing speed and smoothness.

But oos is buggy and latest oreo betas have network issues also battery is much better on paranoid than oos for oos sucks the last oos i liked was 3.2.8 after that most of the versions are buggy
I've used most of the custom roms out their but I didn't find a complete package like what OOS offers. Customs roms lack one or the other stuff what a complete package like OOS offers.
The last OOS nougat beta is very stable. Oreo is still kinda early for daily use.

But oos betas have the headset mic bug. Quite annoying, if you ask me. That's why I'm stuck on Nitrogen 8.1
You will never get a true answer to this. As each person will give their personal fav rom. Then you will hear the bad parts about other roms.
Each rom runs differently depending on the device, person, location and how it is used. So the only way you will get a good answer is to try some yourself.

why did you left PA because of "Custom camera hal", it is supposed to make camera better...?????
Blu spark kernel will work on pa?

What's the major differences between all these ROM's!?

Hi,
So I'm looking for a ROM for my Pixel 2 XL but the problem is there are freaking tons of ROM's available, a lot of which seem to have the same/similar features which is a waste of developers time and not very useful for the community.
Surely it would make more sense if all the developers worked together on a few major builds, one basing on ASOP, one basing on Lineage and any of the other major bases with an Aroma installer providing options to add custom features?
Regardless of that, the type of ROM is either the "best" one that most of the community agree upon OR one that as similar to stock as possible but with extra tweaks/fixes/battery improvements... etc added to make it a fast, efficient, clean ROM.
I assume then I can get a hold of most of the custom features via a Magisk module or two?
Anyone able to tell me what the major differences are and what one sounds like it best suits me? I don't have the time to go through and install every single one of these ROM's :/
Thanks!

Short of actually installing and running the Roms to see which one fits your needs, looking through the "features" list, or following the change logs to see whats been added/removed would likely be your best bet.
Outside of the above, if you want a close to stock experience with a few custom features, look for a "pure" Rom which will have much fewer custom features in the OP.
Conversely, if you want every tool in the shed on your Rom, find the OP with the mile long list of features.
Pure Roms tend to be more stable as they are close to stock, and feature rich Roms can sometimes be a little buggy because they have 21,548 custom features (and all that extra code) to create opportunities for bugs, lag, conflicts, etc.
If you love to maintain and mess with your device, and don't mind the random minor glitch once in a while, go with the feature rich Roms (use what you like, ignore what you don't)...
If you want a daily driver that rarely needs anything other than a security update and is pretty much rock solid stable, go with the vanilla, pure, close to stock Roms.
Really, only you can determine what Rom is best for you. This doesn't even touch the subject of custom kernels (some Roms accept any cust kernel, some are more picky) color schemes, battery life, over/under clocking, etc. etc...
Good luck!
Well there's kitchen sink roms:
Havoc, bootleggers, colt, xtended, liquid, RR
Simple clean roms:
COSP, carbon, abc, DU, Lineage,
Somewhere in between:
Aex, aosip, pixel dust, scorpion,
Finding a rom with the features you want can be a moving target at times. At least there's no shortage of options hey?
