smoothest custom ROM ? (Nugat) - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Lineage 14.1(SULTAN) , paranoid, RR ....OR ANY OTHER ROM ?

Paranoid or anything that can take blu_spark kernel. Sultan's is also OK.

Pa > los > rr

Pa is best stable ,feature rich, camera quality, smoothness everything

Sultans on 1+3 is nice, but if you remove the underclock. There is a lot of stutter with the underclock.
I was pleasantly surprised by Paranoid Android, very very smooth rom. Didn't keep that long though because 'custom camera hal'
Now I have the rom that is equally smooth to paranoid Android, stock oos (beta 29)
I love oos, very very smooth and amazing speed and smoothness.

But oos is buggy and latest oreo betas have network issues also battery is much better on paranoid than oos for oos sucks the last oos i liked was 3.2.8 after that most of the versions are buggy

I've used most of the custom roms out their but I didn't find a complete package like what OOS offers. Customs roms lack one or the other stuff what a complete package like OOS offers.
The last OOS nougat beta is very stable. Oreo is still kinda early for daily use.

But oos betas have the headset mic bug. Quite annoying, if you ask me. That's why I'm stuck on Nitrogen 8.1

You will never get a true answer to this. As each person will give their personal fav rom. Then you will hear the bad parts about other roms.
Each rom runs differently depending on the device, person, location and how it is used. So the only way you will get a good answer is to try some yourself.

Which AOSP rom are you currently using and why?

I'm kinda bored of sense, just want to give some twist at my phone and flash an aosp based rom
too bad that, despite we share SoC with nexus 6p, there is no vanilla aosp rom, so we have to go for CM based stuff, which hasn't been my choice since today, but....actually there is no choice....
SO! AOSP guys, what are you running now? I always find cm official not so smooth, and some other roms too much feature packed without performance optimization....
give me your point!
There aren't many to choose from. Either you try RR, cm13, slim and cm13 unofficial. You can even try aicp
Don't all the AOSP roms crash as soon as you try and do 1080p video recording?
Yeah but....I mean, I want to hear your opinion, maybe you saw something I didn't in these roms!...which is your choice?
I'm currently on Vanir AOSP, and meh, the best i've ever tried is slim ROM, can't wait to have time to switch back.

slim?! mmm...too many brand-focused customizations....launcher button, navbar and stuff
wow, looks like there is something outside here
there is no vanir here so I searched and found it just googling, I also found AICP and MoKee nightlies! I thought that all stuff was here!....
do anyone know any nice project?
I currently use cm13, however, once the dev fixes music issue on RR, I will jump straight back, if you don't mind not using google music, I highly recommend resurrection remix, it is the fastest ROM for the m9 I've tried

OxygenOS 4.0 vs CyanogenMod/LineageOS

Hello guys,
I've recently installed OxygenOS 4.0 on my OP3 and it's not that I don't like it but I miss some features and things like that...I'm just used to CyanogenMod I think.
Is there anyone who has tried both and can tell me if CM/LOS is still riddled with bugs or it can be used as a daily driver without major issues? Also how's battery life on LOS?
Thanks for all the inputs my beloved OP3 users,
jay.
EDIT: Nevermind.............made my decision anyway, thread can be closed/deleted.
So which rom do you use now?
After trying almost every cyanogen/lineage rom and almost every AOSP rom, and despite that they released 7.1.1 already, they are full of bugs and crushes. And the most annoying bug is the call echoes, even in roms where this fixed, the in call vlume so low! And you can control it..
So imho, even that OOS 4 lack of customization, it is most stable and a perfect daily driver

I use Sultans CM 13 build, the best ROM out there.
there are so much good roms out there.. but yes, OOS 4.0 is really nice and fast.
i run 2 roms atm, but also tried much others (FOS, RR, BJRR, ) and no, they are NOT full of bugs.
atm i run OOS 4.0 and Dirty Unicorns.
both are fast, stable and nice.
Kernel sources for Nougat will roll out when oos4. Is rolling out globaly

OS choice.

Hello XDA,
I on my past phones I have used a wide variety of ROMs, but on my OP3 the camera quality drops if it is not OxygenOS based.
My question is, what is the best Oxygen based ROM? I have been using FreedomOS/FOS CE for about a year, but now I see others popping up like Experience ROM.
Which of these two has more features? What other O2 based ROMs are worth nothing?
I haven't had much success with mixing CM and flashable Oxygen camera zips, so that's why I prefer to stick to Oxygen based ROMs.
Thanks
They are pretty similar. I'd prefer Experience because I'd use only the debloated ROM with Arise, Adaway, adfree youtube with supersu. I personally use Sultanxda's cm 13 build. It's stable and camera quality is almost on par with OOS.
Experience and Freedom are pretty much the same.
i personally like FreedomOS more, cause nevax always has some interesting new ideas for features. but if you want completely debloated ROM you can also choose it in aroma installer also.

Reliable Stock Coustom Rom

I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs so if I make a mistake please correct me. As we all know, the support for the Nextbit Robin is down. I'm hoping to get a stock custom ROM that has stock Android and has the new Google Pixel vibe, thank you for the comments.
If you just want the 'Google Pixel vibe' just install the Rootless Pixel2 Launcher
If you are looking for basic custom ROM - PA, Omni, LOS are the most stable, actively developed and the most basic ROMs.
If you are looking for feature filled custom ROM - RR, Carbon, Xenon are the ROMs people like. These too are quite stable and actively developed.
I like PA and you can find my view on the ROM in that thread.

If you want a stock theme I would go with carbon rom it's pixel home touch animation is much better than any other ROMs, and still offers some customization. And yes use the pixel 2 rootless launcher it's amazing and you can download the live Google wallpapers too here is my setup on carbon

What's makes Carbon's implementation of the Pixel home button animation better than any other roms? I'm currently using XenonHD and as far as I can tell it looks exactly the game as Carbon's.
I have to agree with you on the Pixel 2 Launcher though, I love it, also paired with the new live wallpapers.

Well xenon hd has a good pixel animation but the other lineage ROMs do not, I don't recommend xenon because in terms of brute performance it score 400 lower in mutli in geekbench and 6000 lower in antutu.

UI performance is excellent on Xenon, benchmarks don't reflect true performance as well.

While I do agree with you, I have experienced more fluid performance on carbon, to achieve the same effect on xenon I have to turn the profile to performance which drains my battery more than it should

Daily driver AOSP ROM for Redmi Note 5?

I need a rom i can rely on with no bugs or issues. Since I rely on my device for work and studies.
Mcaosp
The develop is experience and knows what he's doing.
He's not just porting roms.
Have to say this after using pe extended for about 2 months now, its ****ing awesome as a daily driver. I'm also a student and I prefer not to go too nerdy on phones, because i cant find the time, but hate miui because of its looks and lag. So, pe extended is good as a daily driver. But there are some issues, for eg, playing games can sometimes be laggy af, bluetooth can sometimes not work when I want it to. But a restart fixes everything always. Ohhh, and if u prefer the stock buttery not so much modded android, stick with pe or pe extended. Havos os, arrow os are awesome too, but there is too much customization, and you'll probably end up hating the rom because of minute lags you see when you customize it tooo much.
I don't like aosp ROMs,, most of the time I used miui based ROMs, but I tried all ROMs , now iam using Nitrogen os excellent ROM
