Hello everyone
So today after puting my phone into the charger (it was about ~22% battery), gone to shower and when I get back it was rebooted in the boot-password screen (my phone is protected with it). Then I insert my password and it rebooted again but only at Google screen, after 5 minutes of restarting in google screen it booted normally and everything worked. After 30 minutes of use, the same thing happened again, and again after ~10 minutes of use.
I'm on 7.1.2 beta 2, is this a system bug or a hardware issue? My phone isn't at warranty, im from Brazil and bought it feb/2016 from a friend who was in the USA.
Hope my nexus 5x is not dying

At this moment the problem not happened in the last 12 hours. Has Google fixed the problem after sending it or they just replaced with a new one?

In LG G series when battery is dying
Low percentage could make phone reboot.
If your phone in plug into changer is your phone reboot,if not might be battery is dying.

Even with high percentage my phone reboots, just tried unerolling beta and reverted to 7.1.1, still the same. I'll now try flashing Android O DP1 by fastboot...

Hey guys!
I have a serious issue here!
In the middle of the day, out of nowhere the phone turn itself of; i never detected that moment; all i know is that when i pick up the phone i find it turned off.
At first that happened when i was still running the stock ROM 4.0.4 unrooted or anything. The phone was in my pocket so i said maybe i touched unintentionally the power button and i dropped it.
However the last 2 days i am running a custom ROM JB CM10 flashed cleanly completely!
I am suspecting that this is no software problem cuz i know with software issues i elk have mostly reboots and not shotdowns.
I suspect that this is a hardware issue, most probably a battery issue; since after i return the phone ON, i can see the battery at 20 or 30% lower than what it should be!
I have wiped battery stats (i know that maybe does nothing) and wiped cache and dalvick and still nothing!
Any ideas/help/suggestions are welcome guys!
Thank you!

Hi all: I have been posting in the CM11 ROM for this device but I figured I would post my issues here and see if anyone has any insight or experiences.
I was on CM11 for 4 days with stability, speed and life was great. Last night I randomly got a reboot when looking at twitter. Fine, no big deal. 2 minutes later it happened again. Odd. I went into the play store and then it froze. I had to research and found out how to reboot it. Once rebooted, it would restart again. So, I went into TWRP, wiped Everything and then refreshed the ROM. Within 1 minute it froze again.
I flashed Stock and sure enough it froze on me. Noe I am annoyed and went to bed and figured I would deal with it this am. I plugged it in last night under 10% battery. Woke up 8 hours later and its at 14%. 2 hours since and its now at 17%. Clearly something is wrong.
Full disclosure---i bought a best buy geek squad refurbished unit and have done so many times with tablets with no problems. I am still within my 45 day return window and will probably just exchange for a new one since the refurbished price is the same as it was. Sadly, I wish they would give me a new one for the black friday price.
Has anyone had such experiences or have a clue what went wrong? Thanks
How did you flash the ROM? Tell each steps on how you flashed it. Did you mess with the CPU clock speed or anything? Did you also have any battery problems readings before flashing? I did a dirty flash of cm11 in which led to problems later, so I'm now on stock rooted and still works fine with no freezes. Probably tarp crashed? Happened to me.
I rooted via odin. I them used twrp manager to get the recovery and did a total clean flash. Wiped everything including system. NO I did not have any battery issues nor did I mess with cpu clock speed ( don't even know how ). All I did was use xposed to try the mutliwindow solution and downloaded lux and a material theme. Nothing out of the ordinary I don't think.

Either the battery is bad or could be something with the software. The only time when mine reboots is when I use to Much ram and it freezes. Other than that no problems.
I plugged it into another outlet. The outlet I always use charges me iPad and note 4 without a problem. I left for an hour and sure enough I got home and the tablet was at 100%. Yay. I started downloading my apps and noticed while still plugged in, the battery was at 95%. Odd. I took out the charger and Bam, rebooted. Off to best buy.
Wow it restarted and now shows 7 percent. I'll let you know what bb says.

Similar experience
I had a similar experience with my 2012 Nexus 7,it turned out that the connections between the charging port, battery and device were all faulty. They weren't soldered together properly when the device was manufactured (not as rare a condition as we are lead to believe either, regardless of manufacturer). I was lucky the I was able to take the device apart to check the problem without leaving any evidence that I had opened it, and I was able to exchange it. So from my experience, that kind of error always appears to relate to some form of battery issue. Also had it happen to me with a Galaxy S4, however it wasn't anything to do with the device itself, it was damaged connections on the battery.
This battery drain issue is really annoying. I have tried absolutely everything to fix it. Except unlocking bootloader and rooting. I shouldn't have to do that to get what the phone is capable of.
I sold my previous phone which was an Alcatel idol 3. Not a bad phone, just a little leggy. The battery in that phone was a 2900mAh, it lasted 2 days easy!!
This ZenFone 2 has better specs and a slightly bigger battery and I can't make it 10 hours, a lot of other users who also bought the phone have the same issues. Android OS battery drain.
I have 5 days before I can return the phone to the store ( I'll get charged a 10% restocking fee, which I should send the bill to ASUS)
Can anyone from ASUS tell me what's going on regarding a fix?? Update??
Would making a video about the issue help. ( I have access to some big name youtubers, phone reviewers) it might not help your sales though.
Thank you,

I have a feeling that you have a CN sku with WW rom... Am I correct?
I bought it from a store in Canada, I live in Canada, I know it's a ww Rom, what does the cn stand for
Are you running the latest firmware and are you using Google Fit at all?
Yeah running latest updates I'm not using Google fit
Do you still get a battery drain when you use a different launcher? Ie. Nova launcher?
Do you have SD card inserted? I can't use SD card since before mediascanner finishes (500 songs on SD), all battery is drained or phone crashes and gets stuck in bootloop ... Also the mediascan clogs I/O and phone is so unresponsive that I can't turn screen on once scan starts. Removed SD card and phone works again.
To help improve battery life please ensure to turn off 'Wifi Scanning always available.' To do this go to Apps/Settings/WiFi Settings/Advance Settings(menu in upper right corner)/Scanning always available/ turn Off. Please also see the following information showing 8 ways to extend the ZenFone 2 battery Life. http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1012981/
Please also see the troubleshooting methods provided in a ZenUI app called ASUS Support/Assistance/Battery/Battery drains fast. If still no improvement with battery then we recommend updating the firmware to the latest version. After firmware is applied we recommend performing a hardware reset including wipe cache partition. For hardware reset/wipe cache partition instructions please see the following: http://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1011956/

I have the latest software, I'm waiting for the software fix which you guys need to provide.
I've done everything you suggested, already, nothing is working , its clearly a software bug.
What would make things easier, is if you just admitted there is a software bug, so people who have spent there hard earned money on your product would have some hope that a fix is in the works. Be honest and tell us.
My Asus phone is turned off as of today and in the box, I instead am using an Alcatel Idol 3, which is a joy to use, especially 2days battery life, with no Android OS battery drain!!
Not all Zenfone 2 have this issue. The one I am currently using can last for a few days on standby with firmware WW_2.19.40.22.
There was a new firmware released today WW_2.20.40.58

My ZenFone 2 heated up extremely a week ago while sitting on standby on my night stand. It has drained 75% in 7 hours. Since then the battery life is terrible. I am going to perform a radiotherapy and see if that helps. Most of the day I am using my 2 year old M7 which lasts the whole day with moderate to heavy usage. If the reservoirs not improve things I will contact Asus and see the next course of action. My phone is up to date as far as firmware is concerned.

Well, AI brought my phone to work last night and got it back into recovery and wiping status. It took about 45-50 minutes before it shut off. Then I powered it back on which brought it back to wiping. It hung there for a minute and the went to the set up screen. That is the longest I have even seen a phone perform a factory reset. Will go through the setup later. Thanks Frank for your long to how to do this.

I was having really bad battery drain. Flashed CM 12.1 on it and it's been amazing since. Scored 48273 in Antutu and battery is lasting forever. Unplugged at 6am this morning, it's 4pm now, been using it with full brightness all day, I'm a heavy user. 45% still left.

It's a shame that you have to flash different software just to be able to get full use of the phone.
The amount of bloatware that came with this phone is probably the worst I've ever seen!!
I recently observed that my Note 7 have heating up episodes and eventually freeze. I suspected beta apps but I did uninstall all of them. It kept heating up and freeze so I did a full system reset and installed about 2 to 3 apps and it started to heat and freeze again.
Lately I also observed that when I use the camera heavily the phone starts to heat up again and freeze.
My note 7 is due for replacement on October 15 and I still have to suffer these problems for 19 more days.
Any solution on what to do?
Yes, do what they suggested in the recall - power it off and do not use it.

That's exactly what happened to me. I did replace it with Note 4 until new Note 7 arrives here ( Egypt ).
I think its the battery starting to fry chips .... solution - wait to exchange! My new one is perfect now for over 2 weeks.

I too have been having the problems you described, intermittently, freezing mid use, getting warm etc, but it has spells where it gets much much worse.
The phone wouldnt boot, wouldnt go into recovery, would partially boot then freeze, would not "hard reset" would not go into recovery, all intermittently.
I couldnt do a factory reset (which i thought might help) as although i managed to get to recovery (after about 5 tries) it couldnt read any of the memory, maybe this is whats causing the exynos phones to lock up, memory errors?
My phone booted about twenty minutes after the photo was taken, and im writing this post on the phone i was having issues with without doing a factory reset (because it didnt work when i tried) but itll be back sure as day, and ill be very frustrated. I hope my replacement doesnt do the same.
I'm using a new note 7 now and let's see how it will go. I'll update you. According to the store my note 7 fried a few capacitors so when it overheats, it freezes.

I've had my g3 for 2.3 years, and it suddenly went into boot loop one day after charging the phone. The boot loops for around 3 or 4 times then stopped and stayed shut down, got it to repair shop yet they claimed that it wasn't hardware issue but software. I doubt that as I've updated my g3 to android 6.0 last October and has been working fine since. However, just to note that I was charging with a broken cable last time before it went into this boot loop. What's the problem with the phone and how can I retrieve my stuff as i haven't backed up yet. Is this problem fixable as I am trying to avoid factory reset and data wiping at all costs.
I had the same problem , it happend suddenly 2 days ago and i am trying to solve this stupid problem but so far no solution.
I upgrade it to 6.0 then downgrade 5.0 tried different versions but no solution.
Wierd thing is just started from nowhere.
Kind of Cpu and heating related but not sure what can be the solution cuz when the phone is colder not restarting that much like warmer.

I haven't tried a new battery, yet I have two batteries, one was the original and other was bought at the same time I got my phone 2 .3 years ago, I have also tried to boot my phone plugged in, and even safe mode, but no success. Both methods only took it into the boot loop.

First thing i bought new battery but didnt help at all.
It is most probably cpu heat sink problem , that heat sink doesnt work anymore i guess . Now phone works like normal with low cpu freq. but a bit slower ..
One day i will try to change heat sink on cpu but dont know when

I have same problem but mine at least opening .. when you can not start the phone , you can not change the freq of cpu.
I did mine with root and app called "no frill cpu"
For starting you can try to put your phone in to freezer 2 or 3 mins (not make super cold) and then start it when it is cold , i managed to use my phone like this around 10 min. so then u can change cpu freq
But today it turn off itself and so far couldnt turn on again ... looks like it gets worse in time..

I just try right now mine and all day it was restarting but i put it in freezer 2 min. and tried and it turn on ..
I am wondering all problems are same from cpu
Few mins. ago i opened up my lg g3 and apply heat sink on cpu chipset and so far it works really better than before
I even tried normal cpu freqs. and it didnt restarted , before using heatsink it was not even possible to see main menu on high freqs.
I was already thinking to buy new phone and spend so much money but then i give it a try and it works. I dont know how long it would help but so far so good.
So i would recommend anyone who has this bootloop problem to try heatsink gel on cpu if still problem continue then you can throw away the phone i guess
Hello, I've battery problem and it keeps restarting by itself, So I decided to buy new battery and with new battery still problem exist and it's random, after 2-3 min usage it restarts.
What should I do ? the phone was working very good a few days ago and that battery was fine until this stupid restarting happened and even I flashed the stock Rom but it didn't fix it.

Thanks for videos, I don't know how but I was able to use the phone for 3-4 hours and for test I used Antutu benchmark and I got 53.000 score, When I tried to charge the phone it turned off and I tried to turn it on again it stuck on Lg logo and I heard some noises sound and phone stuck on logo ( sometimes it has boot loop), For now I turned off the phone and tomorrow I'm gonna buy Thermal paste, Hopefully it will fix it.
Did you have the same kinda of problem ? Like phone stuck on Lg logo or it turn off after you try to turn it on .
How do I know if my G3 is dead? It doesn't do **** when I try to turn it on, it just vibrates and stays there. When I connect it to pc, it detects a connection but nothing happens. This happened earlier this morning and it doesn't want to boot back up no matter what I try.

My phone suddenly turned off and repeated to try to turn on itself but sometimes it was just bootlooping on lg logo sometimes just seeing lock screen and turning off . Noise stuff i dont know but mechanically there is nothing to make sound i think so dont know from what but i never had it.
You can try another working battery and software format. If these doesnt work then you can make thermal paste thing .. but if you think it is easy to do thermal thing then just start with that.
There is no point in software changes -- it's a hardware issue. I don't understand why no one checks the forum before asking -- there is a ton information written on here alone, and how to fix the issue.
You need to fix the loose connections and heat problems of the phone.
Thats right. All you have to do is applying a thermal on SoC. It did work for me
