ZTE AXON 7 MAX (C2017) Chinese root and custom firmware - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello,
Is there any available root method and/or custom firmware for ZTE AXON 7 MAX (C2017) Chinese?
I have bought the above and already have search almost everything about the above but nothing to find.
The chinese seller looks like he knows the method but does not want to share anyting.
My C2017 is already unlocked with multilanguage and google play with android V6.0.1 (ZTE_C2017V2.0.0B07) but is unrooted. The official rom has only chinese and english without google play.
I found a thread about the same mobile posted here at the first days of January with negative answer but there are almost 3 months till then and I wonder if there is anything new about it.
I tried every automatic methods with apks or through pc and none of them manage to root the mobile (iroot, kingoroot, superuser etc)
Thank you in advance

My congrats, bro! I've got the same device today
Still there's no solution but I plan to try tools for Axon 7 / Pro.
Or we need to wait some more...

Hello guys,
Sorry for being off topic. But...
Please made the review of the phone. Probably most reason why lack of information is because nobody knows this phone. Internet is empty on this matter - no owner reviews, just reports from expos.
What is the screen quality? Is it visible in sunny days? Image is sharp or parallax layer causing distortions?
Thanks for your answers here.

ZTE AXON 7 MAX (C2017) Discription
Hello there,
In a matter of fact you are right, there is no user discription and reviews, but just sellers or ZTE review.
About the most considering thing the someone would buy this device would be the 3D screen and camera.
So I'm warning first the negatives from my prospect. These are what I don't like and disapointed me and they may not fit other's people opinion.
There are 2 back cameras, the primary camera and the secondary camera in about 1cm distance from primary camera but I have not any details of the secondary. This one is not capture images. It is not used for the second sbs 3d photo as it not capture a visible image. It is like a depth viewer so 3D photos are actually not stereoscopic 3D by default but an software processed 2D to 3D photo of what primary camera saw and what secondary felt. So there are fails on some points of 3D that looks weird or may give a pain to your eyes. You can give a worse result if you hide the secondary camera with your finger, you can still see and capture a complete photo but the 3D result will be abolutelly random. Also the 3D video is not stable at all, it mentions (lab) on selection and definitely you cannot enjoy 3D at all, its awfull and it makes you dizzy from the first 10 seconds (even I get dizzy that I like 3D and I’m used to 3D devices and views).
Also the 3D photos are saved *.jpg and not as *.jps or *.mpo like all other stereoscopic products. its is still sbs 3D and rename it from *.jpg to *.jps will work but this is not convinient.
Also it is not recognize the above file extentions to its internal viewer so you have to install a third party image viewer like sView or Stereoscope. Also I have not found any apk that can capture 3D photos simulateusly, you can only use the preinstalled one.
So I now use this phone in 2D photo shooting.
About the screen is 6" fullHD with very nice colors and strong backlight that make it easy to use it in sunny days.
BUT
the 3D parralax layer is clearly visible (there is a 3D software button but is does nothing)
according to the angle in portrait view you can see shadowed areas on screen...
In landscape view, if you are watching a 3D image or a 3D movie its outstanding and very sharp and clear BUT again if you are watching something in 2D you can see it distorting because of parralax layers. this is more annoying with text (the letters are kind of weird but you can read it not that easily) and with high contrast symbols etc. its like you see pixels. It is not that annoying with 2D images and 2D movies which have smoother contrast, you can still see the distortion but you'll get use to it.
I had a LG optimus 3D (P920) before this one and there was no parralax layer visible at all... and the photos where pure stereoscopic 3D.
One possitive thing about this phone is that it has a very low battery consuption and it may last 4-5 days with normal use with wifi always open.
It has good sound
It has USB-C

Hi i'm just helping a friend who just bought this phone (ZTE AXON 7 MAX) and he bring it to some repair stores but they couldn't fix the Gapps, so he cant acces his contacs, calendar, maps, etc...
In order to install the Gapps the only thing i have to do is root it, am i right?
But nothing seems to works as our friend at the top posted.
So if any of you did learn how to fix this issue, and can share the solution, it will be very apreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Why do you ask? I thought you know the answer, if you've got the tool working.
As for baseband, you mustn't change it until you know which radio channels your network operator is using.

The tool is for axon 7 mine is axon 7 max. Am trying to restore 2G and 3G Sim one after setting USA band. I know the radio channels

of course. that's why you (and me) need bootloader image for 7 max, not just 7.

i mean, you need to use baseband with active channels which are the same as
the channels of your service provider.
btw, why did you need to change baseband? did you have network problems
or whatever?

Dear friend,
3D screen cannot be disabled as it is an extra layer above the lcd screen. The 3D button only enable/disable the SBS 3D for youtube SBS videos and just that. You have to get used by the distortion of the screen by the time by the portrait mode, though in landscape you may have some difficulties viewing and read on 2D

[Q] about video playing

maybe a old question...but does DEFY really have a DSP for code or decode?
OK...let me look at these words...
Android2.1--800MHz ARM Cortex-A8(TI OMAP 3610)
VIDEO RECORDING RESOLUTION (MAX) VGA (640 x 480)
VIDEO PLAYBACK RESOLUTION (MAX) VGA (640 x 480)
than......are these meaning of NONE C64x+ like dsp?
just like what MOTO did on MS and MS2 ,cut off the dsp(or just shielding by software)?
PS:and is ISP the same thing as DSP(using like codec)?

[Q] Epic Optimal Video Settings

After much experimentation, I have found that the epic prefers 5:3 aspect ratio. If you want the maximum in clarity and optimized file size for your videos, here are the settings I came up with. Adding more to either bitrate wont help the quality.
Customized MP4 Movie (*.mp4) template in Freemake
Video Code: MPEG4 (NOT h.264 or x264)
Frame Size: 1000x600 (5:3 ratio)
Video Bitrate: 1280
Video framerate: 24
Encode Passes: 2
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio Bitrate: 160
Sample rate: 44100
Audio Channels: 2
Disable Audio: No
A/V Sync: Default
These settings work great on my Arnova 10b (Capacitive) and my Touchpad. They would also work great in an iPad or XBOX. I used the high resolution to fill the screen of my Arnova without stretching. It works fine on my Epic.
Here the question: Why 5:3? Any other aspect ratio does not actually fill the screen. If you make a 800x600 (4:3) video, you will find that the player does not actually fill the screen. Thoughts?
The screen resolution is 800x480, which is 5:3...
Just make the video 800x480, and it won't have to do any scaling.
Interesting. Gonna check my videos and see what res I have them in, because they look awesome as it is.

I did that resolution... It worked great for my epic.. I settled on the resolution I used because it worked awesome on all my devices.. even my touchpad. The cost in file size is almost nothing between the two resolutions.
Ok, I have a 720p video.. it looks amazing at its normal resolution of 1280x720.. no cropping that I can notice..
I'm an editor by trade.
What you're looking for is H.264 in .mp4. I tend to go for a video bitrate that hangs out around 1.5mbps and AAC stereo audio at 160kbps, 44.1kHz. There are quite a few artifacts in the shadows, but for watching a movie on an airplane it'll suffice.
The key to both a sharp picture and long battery life is to properly prepare the video. When your video is under or over 800px wide the Epic has to perform scaling to make it fill the screen (or sacrifice filling the screen if it is under). This scaling is an additional calculation it must perform, which hits the battery, and is a transformation on a lossy codec - a quality killer. If you have the render power (48 i7 cores and segmented processing makes for fast work) you can always hit it with mild sharpening for that extra pop.
Export your video at 800 pixels wide by whatever makes the correct aspect ratio. It's a bit of simple algebra, set up a proportion, cross-multiply, divide, and bang.
ex:
(1280/720)=(800/x)
1280x=720*800
1280x=576,000
x=450
800x450 <-- use this for any 16x9 broadcasts
(1.85/1)=(800/x)
1.85x=800
x=432
800x432 <-- use this for movies presented in 1.85:1, 2.35:1, and 2.40:1.
If it's 4x3 export at 640x480.
I just scale up to 4k. Looks pretty good =D

LG G3 Camera specs?

Hi guys I have been digging around trying to find some of the specs from the LG G3 camera, I have recently used it to film some footage as part of a VFX project but I need some details about the sensor if anyone has them at hand?
I know the native focal length is 29.00mm But would anyone know the Pixel Aspect when shooting video? Or the filmback details would be a huge help, thankyou!

Need a LIGHTWEIGHT quality mapping app to replace Google Maps on Samsung

I am a new member, and this is my first post. I am a longtime computer user but I have been using a smartphone for about a year and a half, so I'm still a relative newbie with it. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
Google Maps on my phone tends to be infuriatingly slow and to cause the system to have long bouts of unresponsiveness, with the "System UI unresponsive" window coming up often. The phone runs fine when I come home and make no use of Google Maps.
I would like suggestions for the best alternative mapping apps. Of course I obviously need something lighter than Google Maps. I have tried Waze and MapFactor and did not find them satisfactory.
If you have ideas about changes I could make that might enable the system to tolerate Google Maps better, that will be welcome also.

I always disable Google Maps on all my phones & replace it with Google Maps Go since it's much, much smaller. Also, it can be installed on my SD card. Give it a try, but don't forget to download the Navigation For Maps Go app too. They both technically run through Chrome

I think the bigger question is why it is causing the issues you have mentioned... GoogleMaps runs perfectly fine without the issues you have mentions... I am not a light phone user either and have over 280 apps installed without any log issues in apps or when using my S7A.. So looking into the issue more may help(not sure how so google it) as it could be another app causing the issues and they really become worse when using GoogleMaps as well...
HERE WeGo is working pretty well for me now.
