From 3.2.8 to 4.1.0? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I am on 3.2.8 Rooted with TWRP.
Whats the best way to upgrade to 4.1.0? Is it possible without wiping whole internal storage? I am bit tired of finding it directly everywhere hence creating a new thread.

I would not recommend this. You are doing a major system change, this isn't just an update, it's a complete different OS. Do a full wipe and install the full rom zip via TWRP 3.1.0.0.

no u do not have to fully wipe internal storage, just Cache, System, Dalvik and Data, u will need to reinstall all ur apps so i recommend Titanium Backup, but no ur internal storage and files will not be erased unless, i recommend using FreedomOS or Experience Rom

Can you link me to full ROM zip?
Also is it possible to just flash stock recovery and update via OTA?

[Q] [Xperia S] CM10 Installation problems

Hello.
I was running cm9 for a few months without problems. But since the update from Januari the 13th apps started crashing.. I then tried to completly reinstall (wipe everthing), but got stuck on bootloop. Then I thought lets try cm10, and also I get stock on the booting screen.
These are the steps I did.
Flashed LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD.ftf to go back to stock rom.
Went trough the wizard and all and let it settle down for a few minutes.
Shutdown.
Fastboot boot.img from FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip
Fastboot reboot
Enter recovery
Flash rom FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip
Flash gapps gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Reboot system
But it never boots, I get stuck on bootscreen (same procedure I did with CM9, but also got stuck on bootscreen),
What am I doing wrong?
Try doing full wipe and reinstall CM 10 as you did previously

I tried that too. Like this you mean
1. Fastboot boot.img
2. Fastboot reboot
3. Enter recovery
4. Factory reset
5. Wipe/format system, cache, data, dalvik
6. Install Rom zip
But then I get error and says installation aborted..

Follow this thread for Kernel and Rom installation; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879982
Follow this other to select your Rom; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
And take that cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL is CM 10.2 for such reason look for JB Gapps For Android version 4.1.2
I flashed the Rom very well, also the kernel. my problem were the Gapps. I see there that you do not have the correct gapp zip for cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL;This is CM 10.2 after installation and you need a 4.1.2 JB Gapps. Try and repeat the process.

I do have the correct gapps. This CM is android version 4.1.2. Here I downloaded the latest for CyanogenMod 10.0.x which is for android versions 4.1.x.
Anyway after a whole evening/night of flashing I finally managed to get it working via hei1125 cm10 version:
http://goo.im/devs/hei1125/nozomi
I dont know what I did to make it working again, but it does.. CM10 does look a lot nicer then CM9. Although I heard it has some bugs, which yet I still have to encounter..
FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip fails

I'm on the same problem. Use FXP201 instead or wait until 203... The cm10-fxp202 doesn't work on my device too. Same procedure as Yours or update from 201 to 202 - all will fail on (my) nozomi.
Hello!
Hello! orange fix for this rom?if so, I would like to link to it? thank you very much :fingers-crossed:
Had same problem with fxp202 ans SSpeed rom.
Just try to install another kernel.

Hello,
I have a problem updating my nozomi (xperia s) to the newest cm version. I always get error 7 - some symlinks failed and i cant install an update without factory reset / wipe user data. After this step i can install the zip, but without wipeing, always the same error.
When i'm installing updates on my girlfriend's urushi (xperia ray), everything works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Enable signaturecheck in recovery before install. It worked for me.

It's always recommend to wipe all (cache, davlink even system) then flash.
Be sure to mount system and then try.
And of course, check is you zip file o.k (maybe download again)
Even if you updating cm to new version it's best if you wipe.
I know that's lot of work, but only then you'll have good battery life, smooth and fast ROM and stability.

Reinstalled apps and Data from googleserver after a datawiped update shoudn't be a Problem, or?
Gesendet von meinem Xperia S mit Tapatalk 2
I had just the same problem today. I installed cm10 from recovery and did everything you did!!!!
What i did to solve this prblem is:
- Went into recovery.
- wiped cache and dalvik.
- flashed the latest CM10 (FXP215 to be precise) again!!
- flashed gapps again!!
- after flashing both zips I wiped dalvik and cache again.
- Than reboot.
If you keep getting into bootloops, keep doing these steps. Beliefe me man I had the exect same problam today and this solved it . Just dont panic or do something stupid and have alot of patients! :good:
But this is not a so called clean install. I use factory reset to have a clean install or just wipe data partition. After 1st boot I restore only some of my saved data with titanium backup.

[Q] updating a ROM to latest build

I'm using TeamCanjica CyanogenMod 10.2. Each time I've installed a new ROM on any device I've always gone for the full wipe and flash (Data/cache/davlik) but I am wondering if I am simply updating an existing version do I need to wipe data/factory reset?
This is the procedure I'd have thought would work:
Download latest zip (Only ROM? I already have the latest GAPPS)
boot into recovery
wipe cache + davlik
flash zip
wipe cache + davlik
reboot
Would this update work and keep all my data/settings etc or would this likely cause problems with the build? If it wouldn't work is there a way to update without losing everything?
Cheers

[Q] TWRP for N7 2013 question - does it prevent OTA update?

I rootd my N7 2013 LTE but did not install TWRP. If I install TWRP, will this prevent future OTA pushed by Google?
If yes, how do I UNINSTALL TWRP? Will I have to wipe my device in order to do so?
I am not planning to install custom ROM, just trying to access TWRP to do tablet and dalvick cache wipe, since I have issues with thousands of deleted_wakelock and suspend_backoff. Per this guide on wakelocks, I have to do the wipe.

Crap, I don't want to wipe my device just to uninstall TWRP, given I have stock ROM.
Any other way to wipe cache without TWRP?
No it will not prevent an OTA update, however you will have to flash it yourself, just let the update download, reboot into TWRP, navigate to the OTA zip which will be in /cache directory on your device, and flash as normal, clear dalvik and caches, and reboot.

Factory reset and internal memory

Does a factory reset from OOS 4.0 also erase the internal memory (aka sdcard)?
I updated to 4.0 kind of dirty via OTA (full zip as I have root) and want to start from scratch.
But I don't want to loose my pictures, wallpapers, music etc.
I have stock recovery installed with root and can boot to TWRP via fastboot.

Yes n No.. while doing a factory reset.. there is a check mark which says user data too.. if you check it only then all is formatted..
imo.. its better to dump all ur data and do a complete reset it will get ur data partition to f2fs and you are good to go.. later again transfer ur pics, wallpapers n music back..

Correct Procedure of Flashing ROM + Other ZIP Files

Hi
I'm trying to flash Lineage OS onto a couple of devices one being the Moto G 4G (Thea) and the other the Nexus 7 2013 WiFi (Flo). The ROM installed by itself works perfectly fine even with OpenGApps, but, I'm having difficulties with apps constantly crashing as soon as I include OpenGApps and a Zip file made from Android Zip File Creator found here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tool-6-feb-android-flashable-zip-t3551772.
There are so many combinations in what order I flash the zip files and wipe partitions; I can either flash them separately with a wipe cache and dalvik in between, or I could flash them in bulk and then wipe cache and dalvik at the end. Most of the time whilst using TWRP, I have to do an advanced wipe, and then reboot into TWRP before I can flash the ROM otherwise I get a reboot in the early installation of OpenGApps.
Has anyone got instructions on the order I should install my zip files please?

I don't think there are special tricks necessary. Simply wipe system, data and caches. Flash ROM, GApps and your personal zip. Try to bake the zip with a different tool like https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/dev-shadow53s-flashable-zip-builder-t3671119
Are the APK files specific to the different architectures of Android or are they generic?
