How to fix nexus5x IMEI is 0 after a cpu repair ? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My nexus 5x was appear bootloop a week ago, about 14 March,2017, and I sent it to HUAQIANGBEI (a magic place in Shenzhen China) to repair.
After that, my nexus 5x's Ram change to 3GB(maybe he use the cpu of LG G4 to repair my phone) and IMEI is 0.
So, what should I do to fix my IMEI to the original ? I remember the original IMEI for my phone.
hope someone can help me, thank you!
I‘m not a English speaker, I could not express accurately, so I put the Chinese version below:
大家好,
我的Nexus 5x上周出现了无限重启,然后我把它寄到华强北维修,之后发现内存变成了3G,(可能是换了LG G4的CPU)但是IMEI串号变成了0,我该怎么修改成我原本的串号呢?我有记下我的IMEI,
希望有懂的人帮我解答一下,感谢。

Why dont you sent the phone back and say "my phone not repair completely imei is 0"
They have the machine that can repair imei easily.

I have the same problem, did you fix it? how?

[Q] Galaxy Nexus i9250 lost your IMEI

I have a big problem.
My Gnex i9250 lost your IMEI.
I have already taken the unit on technical assistance and said they would try to rewrite the IMEI but failed.
In my research I learned I should have done a backup of file containing the IMEI (nv_data.bin), is it correct ?
I don't have any backup.
Please help me friends.
NOTE: Sorry for my terrible english.
Not to assume, but it would appear at first glance that you purchased a stolen phone....
Also, pretty sure anything related to writing or creating IMEI is against XDA rules.
Is this a new or used phone? Do you not have the original box with your IMEI on it? And inside the battery compartment as well?

I live in Brazil but I bought this phone in NY.
It's a new phone and the IMEI number on the box matched the number in the battery compartment.
I bought the phone in december but I only had problems recently.
I traveled to a place where I couldn't get any signal and I turned off the phone.
After one day I turned it on and it stopped working.

Did you buy it new or used?
There could be a chance perhaps it was a stolen unit maybe from a store or such that when it was discovered gone, the IMEI was disabled.
I just don't see otherwise how the IMEI could just stop being valid.

I bought this phone brand new.
I saw that in some cases the IMEI can be corrupted, but I don't know how can i repair this file.
This its a known issue.. The efs folder gets corrupted.. Go to galaxy s2 forum and try the several fixes for it there.. If your lucky it will work..
If not.. Well there's not a fix for it yet on Nexus.. Theres several ppl around here waiting for this solution.. As currently they just have a really nice music players Hehe..
Cheers

Its not the efs folder like it was on the nexus s etc.
Your imei data is stored in the factory folder on the gnex.
Sounds like it got corrupted.
I lost my imei on my nexus s and ended up being stuck with a generic one, it still worked though.
Maybe you can find a way to do that.

How do you change your IMEI on your Nexus S ?
The IMEI can be changed/repaired on this phone using samsung pro tools. In Brazil it is legal to change the IMEI to whatever you like, in UK it is only legal to repair the IMEI to the original IMEI. There are some IMEI Nazis on xda that don't want to empower users with the ability to change the IMEI, so they won't tell you how to do this, even if it is for the legal reason of repair only. And, will probably get xda to delete this post and/or close the thread, like they are uk police shills or paid subverts or maybe just do-gooders (the latter is the worst).
This page describes repairing the IMEI of the Galaxy Nexus that had generic IMEI (which can be caused by corrupt MD5 hash for nv_data.bin) using SPT box
An SPT Box cost about $200, but you can usually find this service on ebay or google for about $30, they will resotre the imei to the sticker under the battery. You must pay shipping to and from as well. This place might offer such service: http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk.
I had my IMEI disappear, the "about phone' just had "unknown" for my IMEI. My Nexus GSM was only a week old and purchased from the Play Store. The only reason I checked is because I was on the phone with Google Wallet support and they needed to know. Surprisingly, I was on the phone on T-Mobile network, but with an "unknown" IMEI.
I did a battery pull to reset the phone and it was back. The number on the screen matched the inside, the number on the box, and the number on my receipt. I called support back (again, on the same phone) and they fixed the problem once I gave them my IMEI.
I was a little freaked out that it disappeared like that, but at least the battery pull fixed it.
Good luck with yours.

Hey, even i bought from playstore and i have this same issue. Can you tell me how your issue was fixed ? i realize that the imei is printed on the phone just beneath the battery. But how does it reset the phone ?
Ok soo first of all this is common problem for samsung smartphones - and it has nothing to do with stolen phone. I have the same issue as well - IMEI just got lost one day. Getting factory resets or flashing orginal stock from google page dosn't work.
I just hope that it's not a hardware issue - still waiting for solution for nexus. It's crap cause i bought from google play store while being in US - now when i got back to EU it stopped working - sending it back is very costfull...
So only because it's never happend to you don't say it must have been stolen or something!

Unfortunately no, but you can try.
I have the worst luck, my GNex lost its iMEI and II tried to recover it for 6 months.
Then, one day I got the IMEI back (did a backup of the nv data files and deleted them from the system folder)
So look at this: I did a backup on the nv_data files and put it in the Internal Storage
Then, I wanted to revert back to full stock (no root, locked bootloader)
So I flashed the stock (ps: this wiped the internal storage, so I lost the backup files).
When the cellphone booted I didn't have the IMEI again, so I rooted my phone and deleted the NV Data files FOREVER.
So basically there is NO way to recover the files, I lost my IMEI forever.
But for anyone who is having this issue, backup the files (save it in your computer :silly: ) and delete the nv data files from the system. Try everything related to that. (but be sure to have a backup, hahaha :silly: )

LG G4 motherboard problem

Hello,
I am using LG G4 dual SIM version in India since june 2015. Suddenly few days ago phone refused to start, it was dead. Service centre person told its MoBo problem. Since its not available here, I will be getting new piece under warranty.
I am really wondering why there should be an issue with motherboard of new phone?
What precautions to be taken to avoid such incidence in future? What could be the basic cause? Any thing related to charging or power fluctuations?
Kindly help.
Regards
Is serial number 505?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Yes, its serial number which begins with 505 KPCA061251.
Hi,
Since I will be getting new hand set as replacement, should I ask for set with serial number other than 505? OR this MoBo issue was specific to 505 manufactured in specific time period?
How to proceed? Hope I wont face such issue again.

First thing you should do is checking the serial.
Pull out battery and look at the first 3 digits. If it starts with 5xx you may be another victim of a well known main board issue (search for bootloop at xda).
Second thing Austria is in the EU so you SHOULD have no problem on sending it to repair even with unlocked bootloader.
Besides that search form the freezer method or oven method here @XDA.
Those may can help you to recover the data.
.
Okay.
My serial begins with 507.
And this is shure about warranty and unlocked bootloader?
Is this only a problem outside the EU?
Tomorrow i bring my phone to the shop and tell them the story.
Lets hope for a free repair.
Because i searched the net for a new mainboard.
150Bucks.
Thats not possible in the moment for me.
Thanks for your time.

The key is Directive 1999/44/CE.
For the details take a look here:
In short: No. Just the fact that you modified or changed the software of your device, is not a sufficient reason to void your statutory warranty. As long as you have bought the device as a consumer in the European Union.
A bit longer: Directive 1999/44/CE dictates¹ that any object meeting certain criteria (including telephones, computers, routers etc.) being sold to a consumer² inside the European Union, has to carry a warranty from the seller that the device will meet the quality that you would expect for such a device for a period of 2 years. A telephone is an example of such a device and is an object that comprises many parts, from the case to the screen to the radio, to a mini-computer, to the battery, to the software that runs it. If any of these parts³ stop working in those 2 years, the seller has to fix or replace them. What is more these repairs should not cost the consumer a single cent — the seller has to cover the expenses (Directive 1999/44/CE, §3). If the seller has any expenses for returning it to the manufacturer, this is not your problem as a consumer.
If your device becomes defective in the first 6 months, it is presumed that the defect was there all along, so you should not need to prove anything. If your device becomes defective after the first 6 months, but before 2 years run out, you are still covered. The difference is only that if the defect arises now, the seller can claim that the defect was caused by some action that was triggered by non-normal use of the device.

Hi,
How do you solve the issue?

Bootloop fixed?

Helio guys, I'm planning to buy a aecond-handed G4, but I've seen that there's a major issue with it, a bootloop problem caused by the motherboard.
My question is, Did LG repaired that problem on some new G4 models, I saw that phones starting serial number with 505 are the ones that will fail
Thank you
hi,
if you have a phone with serial 50x, then you need a new motherboard (phone) with 6xx

You have to ensure that the serial begins with 603 or higher
also ensure that you do not buy a phone with an already replaced mainboard! Means the phone should be produced in 2016

So, phones with serial starting 603 and higher doesn't have this problem?
The one I'm planning to buy is this, I asked the seller to send me a screenshot of hardware info.
After seeing it, should I ask him for a serial number photo?

1. let him pull out the battery and take a pic of the serial there (this is no guarantee though because if it was in repair the sticker could be replaced as well)
2. please consider to buy a h815 international(!) or h811 because only these both can be unlocked!

Just my personal experience and opinion. There are no guarantees or official statements anywhere.
experience means:
I own 2 h815 and both having serial 603 and both are in heavy usage because of development and they are still alive.
regarding the background of my opinion:
LG acknowledged the mainboard issue in January 2016 (http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-admits-g4-bootloop-problem-hardware-fault-669603/) and so we can assume that beginning from then it should be fixed for any newer devices then that date. 603 means March 2016 so I think that beginning from this charge it will be safe. again no guarantees nowhere.

he should get a tmobile h811.
well i can vouch for that too.
after readings lots of complains you can see the pattern that most 5xx failed. and keep failing. some are lucky thoug.
LG claims that from 511 upwards its fixed . but reports are different . only a few 601 and rare 603
it doesnt mean it wont theres no way to tell but chances will be low.
am running a 601.
I saw a poll somewhere (might have been here on xda) showing bootlloop data by SN and as expected most of the bootloops were on 5xx devices. But there were a few problems even on the newer devices.
It seems logical that refurbished units in the past 6 months or so should hold up. At that point LG had determined exactly what the problem was. However, I have read threads on folks who had their G4's replaced with refurbs multiple times. I just think it is a gamble when picking up a G4 because you never know if it will last, these things are like ticking time bombs. It reminds me of the RROD Xbox 360 problem a few years ago. Best bet is to get a warranty.
My personal experience was a G4 505 purchased on release from Verizon June 2015, bootlooped October 2016. Verizon replaced with refurb and SN 506 which has been running fine, no evidence of bootlooping.

Question Motherboard replaced and different smartphone model! HELP

hi guys, I recently sent my Xiaomi MI 11 Lite 5G NE to repair for a problem with the mobile networks ... Picked up yesterday and everything works fine.
Tonight I was tweaking a bit in the settings and I realized that the model in the phone info does not match the one printed on the back of the phone!
On the back of the phone is printed 'Model: 2109119DG' and in the settings 'M2101K9G'... which corresponds to the Xiaomi MI 11 Lite ... NOT NE!
Another thing ... Checking with AIDA64 also the processor turns out to be that of the Xiaomi MI 11 Lite 5G not NE ...
Could it be because they installed a wrong motherboard? I'm going to the store tomorrow but I wanted to Hear your opinion.
Thanks a lot..
Yes, they probably replaced the motherboard with the non-NE one. You're kinda lucky and unlucky at the same time lol. The NE is a bit inferior to the Mi 11 Lite 5G, but the NE is the one widely available.

Thanks for the answer ... What would you do? I think I will send it back to repair .. again
mmm... Are you sure they just changed the motherboard? Maybe they just replaced your phone totally.
Did you check the IMEI numbers?
I was also following you regarding the mobile data issue, if the issue is gone and you don't have any issue with this non-NE mobile, I would keep it.
As your messages are from last week, just tell us what you decide and if mobile data issues are totally gone.
Thanks!
Hi Raulci ... Yes, the phone now works perfectly, I also noticed that the proximity sensor has improved. I am sure that the motherboard has been changed and not the phone cause as I said in the post, on the back of the phone is engraved the model corresponding to NE, and in the phone settings the model corresponds to non-NE (like the processor etc...). I'm pretty sure they installed a "wrong" motherboard. I went back to the shop and they told me that that is the motherboard that Xiaomi sent and they can't do anything about it. I wrote to Xiaomi assistance and they told me after some checks it turns out that the motherboard is original and correct for my model ... I know it's not a problem but this is not the way I like to work, unfortunately this is definitely the first and last experience with Xiaomi...

Sorry for the double post i can't delete the First One
Very very strange case... It's clear that the motherboard is for renoir, not lisa, but Xiaomi says it's correct, it makes no sense! Very weird.
Fortunately, I think you were lucky. Now problems are gone with your phone.
Be careful if you update MIUI manually, you should use Lisa or renoir rom? Better do it by OTA.
Thanks for your feedback.
You are lucky getting an free upgrade to 780G, which is equal to 855+
Thats strange. Its must be that xiaomi knows that they have messed up with wrong motherboard for 11 lite ne 5g with bad modems, not able to deliver performance, so this is their way of solving problems.
But any such act should be informed. User should be aware before replacement.

Say what do, do what you say... those reps need to learn some business ethics.
The OP could demand a full refund.
That's basically theft by deception.
If the substituted mobo puts you in a better position then go with it.
Dude you are literally getting a free upgrade, 778G to 780G. You should keep it.
