Need help.. - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I bought the used g4 two days back. In the about section its showing h815 model with android 5(lollipop).
I updated it to marshmellow using LgUp and lg firmware. But after upgrading sim is not working . I reverted back to lollipop and still sim not working.
After not finding any solution i went to the technician , he found the board inside is of h810(at&t) model. While the software is showing h815.
So anyone of you know how to solve this problem. Sim was working before perfectly.

Maybe flash a h810 at&t ROM. Verify the actual model of the phone by removing the back cover and looking for h815 or h810. It's also possible you have a h810 motherboard in a h815 shell.

On board h810 is written. But software showing h815 model. Any idea..?

I believe this is a dodgy repair. As htr5 suggested, I would try an H810 kdz.
I have skimmed over these issues a few times but taken no real notice as I just keep repairing mine through carrier insurance every time I get the bootloop.
Is your IMEI still showing *#06# if sim not recognised now?

Yes imei is showing. As currently the phone is running h815 software. If i flash 810 kdz through flash tool , will it cause any problem or brick ..?

Great idea from SavageRobot. Type your IMEI number into http://www.imeipro.info/check_lg.html and it should pull up your phone's model number

I have seen this issue a bunch specially here lately people piecing g4s together.
Flashing diffrent firms crossin.
Go off the imei. This is always real touchy. Cause of cross flashing and bricking. To completly verify. Check imei and pull back of case apart and look at any model nums on the motherboard

A mutt

I have seen a few people with this problem. One such post suggests to take the phone apart and look at the motherboard. Whatever model is on the motherboard is the one to go with

Change phone model.

Hi all,
On my phone the software say that my model is D852G but when I remove the back, its printed D850.
What does that mean? Is it possible to change to D850 on the software?

I wouldnt recommend it
In your case its probably using D850 hardware but software wise its been rebranded as a D852G. I can safely say if you try to flash a D850 firmware i might work but you will probably encounter alot of issues like described in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/us990-converted-to-ls990-calls-data-t3088944
Your senario is just like the LS990 and the US990 and how they have the same hardware but different software

is that okay to change H815 motherboard with LS991 board ?

i can't find H815 MB on the internet and it will cost 240$ to fix it in my country , i found LS991 MB so do you think it will work ?
@foxvb74 - You can do chip reballing. It's much cheaper. You can also try the ILAPO fix with my app:

Did it work? I mean, was the ls991 board compatible with the h815?
you can read firmware from lg devices useing many tools and programs (in download mode without root)
you can't flash firmware of other device be careful you gonna damage your device

G4 shows wrong version

long time lurker here.I bought a g4 second hand.it was advertised as h815 unlocked.the imei checked out online and all stickers said 815 as well.but in hardware info it showed h815T(HK variant).thankfully i knew how to flash firmwares so i downloaded a KDZ and flashed it with lg ft 2014.for some reason (i dont remember why) i flashed 2-3 times with other kdzs and ended up in the current state.the phone now shows H818(dual sim variant) in hardware info and doesnt
detect my sim card(same sim works fine in my G2).I never downloaded the h818 kdz.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||((TLDR))||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
phone shows wrong model in settings and doesnt detect sim card.flashing stock kdz doesnt fix this
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
any help would be appreciated as i have been flashing various KDZs since the last 2 months but have had no luck yet.

i think is was misinterpreted. its a h815 but a h815t indeed and unlocked mean carrier as you know theres no way to unlock bootloader.. you need to flash the h815T KDZ. i hope that you didnt mess your imei.
inject only works in LP not on MM. also youll need to find out if you can downgrade to lollipop. as this phone have antirollback wich means once you are on a version you cannot go nack or youll hard brick phone.

thank you for the response.im on lollipop right now since ft 2014 doesnt flash MM and lgup and ft 2.0.1.6 stop flashing after checking phone info(they stop flashing as phone shows h818 but kdz is for h815).I flashed h815T kdz multiple times(twice just today)but phone still shows h818 in lgup and in settings.the phone cant be h818 as it only has 1 sim slot.
imei is ok right now.SIM issue happened to be a ****ty sim cut job by the customer service guy.only remaining issue is the wrong version showing up in phone settings. cant flash MM due to that.
also,is there anything good about upgrading to MM???

Actually MM isnt an upgrade. Lollipop is best(maybe nougat will be worth anything). I think you should flash uk v20g kdz with lg up(or LG firware flash 2014). I suggest using LG UP also you can give TOT method a try
check this thread:

reply to me if you will need any help

Do they check in build.prop? If so just change build.prop value and you're good to go. I think that there is also possibility to fake your software version and then flash anything you want

LG G4 has different model numbers, cant find stock firmware.

Hello i need help with my LG G4. Am trying to find the offical firmware but i have failed.
The phone model number in the settings says H818, the back sticker under the battery say H815 and the model number on the mother board says F500L.
Before it had lollipop and was working well so i tried to upgrade to 6.0 and thats when issues sarted. After upgrade it works but the network is not working.
I tried to use the LG Bridge to get the firmware and it got me F500K so when i tried to install it failed.
I have tried to install several firmwares using the LGUP but all fail bringing me an error of kdz is invalid.
I have tried the LG Flash Tool and it have failed too.
Can anyone hlep me find the stock firmware for this phone.

I bought the phone from a friend so it has no box
If it's a single SIM and not from America, probably H815.

franken phone.. mean phone refurbished by other variant parts.. even they can edit software .. best thing to do is... open up phone and look at the motherboard model.. what ever the motherboard says thats your variant.. you have to phisically see it with your own eyes.. not by looking in software they also edit that..
Wen i checked the mother board, thr was F100L MAIN

The board version is F500L. But the software is of H818. Therefore flash tools would see the phone as H818 and generate invalid file error for any firmware other than H818. So you can recover it installing different firmwares of H818.
You can get its LP 10e here and 10b here.
By the way, how did you upgrade from LP to MM? Means using which tool?

Lg G4 shows wrong model number

So i bought a lg g4 second hand.
I opened the phone to check which variant it was. And on the motherboard it shows H815. But once i go into the settings and check it, it shows its a H815TR variant
Am I screwed or can I fix this?
I hope somebody can help me.
You have to use usuunlocking if you want to modify your devise

Explained in post # 1666 in the UsU unlock thread.
Every motherboard from any H815x model shows "H815" even if on settings shows H815TR, H815P, H815AR, etc. So there is nothing to fix... and if you want, you can Unlock the Bootloader following the steadfasterX's guide for every H815x.
