Google Market. Updates cause problems on some custom themed ROM's "X stopped"
This is something I didn't know and this post has helped me fix Google Apps that stopped working.

It's not the Gmail app itself, ROM or Store version. It's Play Services.
The Gmail fix is relatively simple and works every time (so far, I, and 6 of my friends, have used it):
Settings > App Manager > All > Google Play Services
Undo all updates. It will tell you it's installing the "factory" version of it. Hit OK.
Gmail (black Rom version) will [should] work.
Then, I went into Google Play Store settings and UNchecked all auto-updates so they can't slam me into non-working updates anymore.
When you run Maps and a few other Google apps, it'll put a little alert on your Noti Bar that the app NEEDS the newer version of Services...it doesn't...they all work perfectly so ignore the warning until a new Services gets released.

The only issues I still run into is Google now and YouTube won't work with the factory services anymore. I got other apps for YouTube so that's not really an issue but I've started to like Google now lately.

Right. I just go to you tube in my browser

Bloatware on canvas A1

I have a question regarding pre installed bloatware in the phone.
I have disabled
sales track
Mlive
Hike and
Askme without any problems.
About other apps I do use Amazon but can't update it from play store is there a way to remove this and install the version from play store.
Also what are these apps and are they safe to remove
1) market feedback agent
2) partner launcher custom
3) locationem2
4) fused location
5) sun beam
Also since I use hangouts as default for SMS is removing Messaging safe

I might keep sales track because it can help for receiving the system updates? I am not sure though.

PackageMeasurementService wakelocks

Hi, since Nougat (OOS 4) I have a lot of wakelocks of this kind showing up in wakelocks detector, and I think they're responsible of the bad standby battery drain while on mobile data.
Problem is, I can't tell whether they're os induced, or app induced. Do you know if there's a way to find out?
I know that this service is a GPlay services one to provide some app analytics APIs.
Thank you in advance!
P.s. I clean flashed, cleared cache etc, issue still there
Please don't tell me I need to binary search my apps until I find the culprit
I was wondering if a ps | grep on the pod could help, assuming that I find an entry in logcat each time this wakelock is triggered...
Any help or idea appreciated!

Same issue
It's used by google to monitor every tiny move you make in the apps on your phone.
Because this site doesn't want me to help you, I can't post a link, but you can google the row below
com.google.android.gms.measurement
FirebaseAnalytics - No invasion of privacy at all and certainly doesn't cause a wakelock to record what you do in your apps before sending that info to Google.
I HAD that too. But then used an app called "Disable Service" on google play services->AppMeasurementService
I have the same problem with last official build (4.1.6). Did you managed to solve?

Nexus 5X Google Apps Issue

Hey , it would be really helpful if someone could help me out with this issue ,
I'm having a Nexus 5X 32gb running Android 7.1.1 .
Since the update I'm having problems with certain apps specifically Google apps like the dialler , Gmail , Google Keep , Calender .
When I open the app it says the app has stopped and gives the option of starting the app again and send feedback.
Also the apps like Google play store and Google play services stop suddenly and show the same message.
It's very frustrating , a response would really be helpful.

Hi, I may be able to give you a reason why this could be happening. With older devices sometimes updates may end up doing more harm than good performance wise since theyre designed for the latest devices with the best processors, and we nexus people are an afterthought. I talked with google today and they basically told me that if I wanted to restore to a previous OS, like 6.0 I would need to use this link https://developers.google.com/android/images
And from there go back to the previous OS. Other than that you can try freeing up memory and RAM. Deleting things you dont use, and rebooting the device.

Disabling Chrome Causes Other Apps to FC

INFO:
OP5t A5010_43_180613
OxygenOS: 5.1.3
Android: 8.1.0
Root: Magisk v16.0
OEM: Unlocked
Bootloader: Unlocked
Recovery: TWRP
No custom ROM
DETAILS:
I’ve done some cursory searching here on XDA and across the wider interwebs and I’m hoping someone reading this can provide some insight, or, at the very least, help me to better understand an issue I’m experiencing.
I have a rooted OP5t running OxygenOS - no special ROMs (as mentioned at the top of this post).
At some point after initially rooting my device (purchased Jan 2018), I was able to disable Chrome, Youtube, Community (OnePlus), Duo, Play Movies & TV, Play Music and a host of other pre-packaged apps I never use. Since then, I have been able to use my OP5t with no issues. I simply use the apps I use, get updates from Play and carry-on with life. In general, if an app I do not use has the option to disable it [via Settings > Apps > Application List > $AppInfo], I have disabled it; otherwise, I have used Titanium Backup’s “Freeze” option.
That is, until last night. (Sidenote: Someday I’ll learn to leave well enough alone!)
Last night I decided that I wanted to be finally rid of the apps I don’t use. So, for starters, I uninstalled Chrome and Youtube via Titanium Backup and stopped there. All went well until I attempted to open GMail. Gmail FC’d. I tried another app, it FC’d too. WTH?
So, this morning I decided, “Okay, let’s restore these from Titanium and see which of these is potentially causing the other apps to FC.” The process for restoring Chrome took ages (my god it’s an unwieldingly huge app!) but I finally got them both it and YouTube restored, along with their respective data. Whew! Cool. I tested the other apps and got no FC! \0/ <(YAY!) Cool. So, I set about disabling YouTube. With YouTube successfully disabled, I tested my other apps and nothing is FCing. Great!
I then set my sights on Chrome: No dice. When I disable Chrome, other apps FC. (Damn) Fine. I’ll enable it and restrict its data use and block its access via firewall. Cool. That works. So, I end up slightly close to where I started last night, except I can’t disable Chrome again.
Is Chrome that interwoven into AOSP that I can no longer disable it?
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and has success in disabling the prepackaged Chrome on OP5t.
Thanks in advance!
Because it is enabled as webview.check in developer option.

Thanks for that lead. Here's what I'm seeing, but first, current status:
I have Chrome disabled (and Force Stopped). I attempt to open GMail and it FCs.
In looking at Settings > Developer Options > Webview implementation, I now see Android System Webview 65.0.3325.109 as selected (checked) and the entry for Chrome 67.0.3396.87 is greyed out.
If I enable Chrome, Gmail doesn't FC and (in Webview) Chrome 67.... is selected (checked) while Android System Webview is greyed out.
In either scenario, the greyed out option also notes "(disabled for $user)" - which makes some sense. Kinda. [shrug?]
I'm guessing (although, admittedly without good reason) that the two Webview implementations are not compatible.
Any idea where to go from here? (I'll be searching for Webview implementations in another window).
Thanks in advance.
Is your Android System WebView updated? Mine shows v68.0.3440.40
Chrome implementation is not good in oos,I wrote about it many times but it never got fixed. Fix for me was to use hydrogen os based Roms ?

Maybe the best option for you is a AOSP ROM... I use Dirty Unicorns, very smooth and fast and clean of Google apps...
Much better than OOS

I'm not certain about it but I think since Oreo onwards webview was changed from Android Webview to Chrome Webview hence if you manage to crash Chrome, then all apps that utilize the Chrome Webview will crash respectively, I can personally vouch for this cause I remember I had accidently tried updating Chrome with an ARM version of the app and all my apps using Chrome Webview crashed and when I finally realized and updated it with ARM64 it worked flawlessly.
What I derived from this is if you managed to break Chrome Webview it crashes a whole lot of Google Apps. I don't know if there is a work around for this you look around for Micro G Apps which could theoretically replace the Chrome Webview; however, you're on OOS I'm not sure if that combination would work.
Using OB10 and it's normal, lol
