PrimoU, unable to load any custom ROMs, tried about anything - HTC One V

So I've got a HTC One V GSM edition.
Been a while since I played with it.
I know I had at one time a ShenDU OS installed on it, but I put it back to original stock rom.
Now here it goes.
It is unlocked & S-Off.
I can install any recovery without problems (tried the CWM 5.8.4.5. PrimoU, twrp-3.1.0-0-primoU, CWM6.0.3.3)
All these recoveries work, they boot up.
But, whenever I try to load a custom ROM it fails, no matter what.
Tried a dozen of them, all from the HTC One V Primo pages on this forum
TWRP just gives 'error' and CWM gives mostly 'status 0'
The only thing that does flash into it are the official(?) RUU images, I have tried version 1.41, 2.08 and 2.22, all install perfectly.
Any tips on what I might be missing here?
I've read some things about a new radio driver that seems to stop custom roms from loading, but if I flash RUU 1.41 it also flashes the radio back to the old settings?

One v GSM is primoU , right?
Which rom did u use? Primou or primoc(cdma)?
any log file of revovery? what is the error?

So far I tried:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2683544
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-v/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-htc-one-t3269533
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-v/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-htc-one-t3071507
..and some more, but you get the idea....
They are (AFAIK) all specific for PrimoU
And for the logfiles, TWRP does not show any logs, it gives an quick error and jumps back to the menu.
CWM gives either status 0 or status 7 errors.

which version of twr do you use? i use 2.8 and there is a "save log" option in advanced in menu
either when flashing rom fails , it shows the error and dont jump to menu
i dont know, try sideload to flash rom from pc

I tried TWRP 2.8.6.0-2, but it did not boot up.
Tried ADB sideload on CWM6.0.3.3 and on TWRP3.1, also did not work.
Now I redownloaded TWRP2.8.6.0-2 to try and save the logfiles you suggested, and it boots up, so it seems my earlier download was corrupted.
I turned on error log saving, tried installing [ROM] [6.0.1] Cyanogenmod 13 for HTC One V by jonas2790, and it works!
So it turns out that TWRP2.8.6.0-2 is the only thing functioning on my version of the HTC (which was running rooted version of RUU 2.22 at that moment)
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
:good:

Great ... as i remember, jonas roms needs twrp 2.8 (not only your device)
good luck

Can't boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.

Haven't got enough posts to publish in the dev part of the forum and I can't find anyone with a DHD and this problem.
I'm on mike1986' Android Revolution HD 2.0.7 with senseless and trying to upgrade to 2.0.8 - with senseless.
I can't boot into ClockworkMod Recovery through Rom Manager or the boot menu (vol down at boot). Running 2.5.1.3 and it just hangs on the HTC screen. Tried flashing it twice from Rom Manager - no joy.
Looking for any advice - the rest of the phone runs fine btw.

Try to use the LASTEST version of CWM. i had this issues before coz i'm using the old version that i got from torrent. after i installed/ overwrite the old one, it works like charm! gud luck!
Cheers for the help, one question tho. As far as I am aware the latest CWM is 2.5.1.3. should I try using the "flash an older CWM" in Rom Manager?
All done, a massive thanks dude for the help.

Well, this is what you need to check before u want it to works..
1. Firstly, NOT to update your phone with latest firmware that is 17.2/17.5 (this will not work for ALL attempt)
2. Root your phone - apps needed (superuser & VISIONary+)
3. ROM Manager (get the latest one and granted as superuser) with the right Flash CWM Recovery.
4. S-OFF (check on the pinned DHD Android development thread)
i think that's all.. other might add in some info if i got myself less on it.. thank you
I'd try flashing an older recovery and flashing back to the newest. Remember you can also get to recovery by switching off and charging.

[Q] Android Revolution HD error while restarting

Hi all,
I have problem with Android Revolution HD by mike1986 ROM. Everything working well expect restarting. If I restarted, phone didnt start rom but only clockworkmod and only one way how to correctly start phone is connect via cable to computer and over fastboot boot boot.img push boot.img into phone.. And second issue - in clockworkomod I cant make backup - everytime it ends with error message..
Any idea how to fix it? Thanks
I have this exact problem too. I'm ENG S-OFF and ARHD 9.2 installer is fine until the very last step when it goes "assert failed" and something about extracting the boot.img to /tmp/boot.img.
I tried going about it the same way I read before with CyanogenMod where I'd manually flash the boot.img in fastboot to make sure it was flashed properly or I'd just get bootloop into recovery, but it's a no-go. It flashes fine, of course, but it doesn't help one bit. I'll be damned if I'm giving up and moving to CyanogenMod again after going through all the guides and reading page up and page down of things that basically didn't help me.
Does anyone have a solution or an idea why ARHD 9.2 fails when extracting the boot.img to /tmp?
EDIT: Same issue with ARHD 7.3 btw.
EDIT2: I gave up and went to CyanogenMod 10.2. Worked the first time...
did you already tried using another custom recovery..like 4ext or TWRP..?

Hi, I have same problem, I tryed install 2 custom rom, but device started only to ClockworkMod Recovery ...
I tryed hard reset - wipe all data, not help
just tried installing TWRP recovery..look in here..
I've been using TWRP2 all along. It works very well on my HTC One and Nexus 7 both. I gave it another try today, but it's still a no-go. I think I've tried most every combination of things now. No matter. I'm giving the nightly CM11 a try now. :fingers-crossed:
Aha! Turns out I had a faulty SD-card. I could write to it and all, but I couldn't delete any files off it. No format worked. Nothing. It couldn't readily be identified, but at least I found the cause and now it's working perfectly. Smooth and fast. Very, very nice. :good: I'm a happy camper.

a rom is a modified software of android from a developer that you can install on your phone through a recovery, it's good that you can boot into recovery but, I'm not completely sure what's going on, the rom that is currently on your device could have a problem and not able to connect to mobile data. you could download a different rom and flash it onto your phone and see if that fixes it, there are plenty of amazing ones to choose from on this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one/development even though you have the mobile data problem on your current rom i would still make a backup of your current rom to go back to incase anything happens when (if) you flash a different one

there are many videos online but its pretty easy, find a rom and gapps (if its included with the rom) then download those two to your sd card( make sure they are in .zip format) once downloaded boot into twrp and choose the backup icon and swipe to backup. when that's done you will press the wipe icon and perform a factory reset(you lose all data so make sure you have contacts synced to google) when its done wiping your data go back and install zip and locate the downloaded rom and choose that then if you downloaded the gapps(google apps) choose add more zips near the bottom and find that .zip. when you have everything you will then swipe to flash. when its done tap reboot and it will load your new rom.

Maybe not....
Did you put a working active Sim card of your own into the phone?
That ROM that's on the phone currently, works just fine for verizon cell and data services.
You're welcome to change the ROM to whatever one you want.

Sounds like you're new to the world of modding which is perfectly fine because we all had to start somewhere. You want to familiarize yourself with the basics before you get too far over your head though. Here's a basic terminology guide that will help you right now: http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/05/the-dummys-guide-to-android-rooting-everything-you-need-to-know/
I don't know what the person before you did, but as santod has explained NuSense has perfectly working data. I'm using it now and have never had issue. It's my personal favorite rom, but there are many out there right now you should be trying out for yourself and forming your own conclusions. Almost everyone will have a different opinion on the "best rom" which is why it's a question you'll see avoided around here. Personally, I would start on a "stock" rom like the one offered here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319. That thread also includes very important instructions on how to update your firmware (for better radio performance among other things). Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions before doing something you're not sure of.
No operating system
accidently wiped everything clean the PC cannot recognize the device says I need a driver. I still have twrp but the backup was wiped on accident what do I do to fix it?
I think you'll have to push a rom from your computer to the phone using ADB and then flash it in recovery. I've never had to do that so hopefully someone can chime in with more details.
You need the adb debugging tools installed on your computer. Plus HTC drivers. Once you have those installed, you can try flashing a RUU. Here's 4.2.2 RUU http://www.htc1guru.com/2013/11/verizon-ruu-zip-1-10-605-10-posted/ . This tells you how to setup adb http://www.howtogeek.com/125769/how-to-install-and-use-abd-the-android-debug-bridge-utility/ . To flash the RUU, place the RUU in the same folder as your adb tools, and rename it RUU.zip. In the command prompt type, fastboot oem rebootRUU , then hit enter. Then type, fastboot flash zip RUU.zip ,then hit enter. Afterit finishes you'll have to type fastboot flash zip RUU.zip one more time . Then after about ten minutes it will finish and you'll type fastboot reboot-hboot. Then restart phone.

[Q] Status 7 trying to install new ROM CM11 (KitKat)

Hello all,
Please can someone help me??
I have a HTC One X, I have unlocked my phone on HTCDev, it is showing as rooted (not broken lol) and i can add superuser on there.
I have CWM installed v.5.8.4.0 however, when looking in the ROM Manager, trying to update it is shows me 6.0.4.7 under recovery setup. but when i boot into recovery it still shows me 5.8.4.0??
I have been trying to install the Beanstalk-4.4.240-20140206-endeavouru.zip...
I keep getting stuck in the installation with the message status 7 and then installation stops..
I have cleared all the files and cache that is required prior and still fails. I have tried removing the assert / getpro lines and I still get status 7 during installation.
I have tried a few different ROMs all telling me they are for HTC One X (so i am guessing these just are the right ROMs)
The only think i can see i have is that i have S-On, but i cannot seem to find anywhere to turn this off.. Is this the only reason it is not working????
I have tried another recovery images as well and still no luck?? (unless i did that wrong)
Please can someone help me, I would really like to put a Kitkat ROM on my phone as HTC are not going to get this done..
Ditch rommanager, it does not work on a s-on hox. Second you need to flash a kitkat recovery to install kitkat roms and a sense recovery to install sense 5 roms or earlier build aosp roms.
So for kitkat download the latest philz touch recovery available, and if you want sense based roms i suggest to use philz touch 5.15......
You have to flash boot.img & recoverys via fastboot (pc) to the phone !

Thank you i have checked this out.. but i can only find the Philz touch 6.19.3 clockworkmod 6.0.4 so i have updated
Just a slight issue now where i am cleaning all what has to be cleared and then installing the ROM and GAPP which both are now installing by the look of it and no errors.. but i am looping back into Philz touch rather than the phone restarting.. Even if i restore the previous version it still comes back to Philz touch..
do you know why this is happening? I tried CM11 Rom and also the Beanstalk 4.4 ROM (As well as restore) all coming back to recovery mode.. Im lost now
Try this recovery and flash a sense 5 rom to check if that works. It should not boot back.to the recovery.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
And can you post the outcome of :
Fastboot getvar all
And delete the imei and serial number before posting it !!
ok the 5.15 installed fine, but the images here are giving me status 7 and restore is not working for me from here either
i have attached the getvar all outcome
The specs are fine, download a sense 5 rom like viper X or arhd. And install it like this :
Flash the boot.img of the rom !
Then enter the recovery and make a FULL wipe :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage - format cache , data and system
Then install the rom (if you go for viper you select cache wipe only and full rom install in the aroma)
ok I realised i didn't do the boot.img correctly.. i tried it again now but went back to Touch 6 and the Beanstalk has installed YAY!!
You said "download a sense 5 rom like viper X or arhd" are these better than Beanstalk? I am asking as this is my first 4.4 ROM i have installed...?
I do have to say i do like the sense 5 so wondering if it is worth changing ROM to what you are suggesting?
Otherwise it is now working... Thank you heaps for all your help
Ah no there is no "better" rom. I suggested these because i have experience with these roms. Just for testing purposes.
But all is fine. And you know how to flash so all good.
CASE CLOSED !

[Q] Screwed up badly somehow when flashing new firmware

I was wondering if anyone could help me.
First i rooted my phone, then S-off'd with sunshine.
then i tried to update my firmware from 1.32.xx.xx to 1.40.401.8 so i could install ViperONE rom
First, i flashed a no-wipe zip 1.40.401.8 and it worked but after rebooting the phone, it would restart on each screen-off.
so i figured that there was something wrong with the versions and did a full wipe install.
now i can't install any zip. It hangs at the part where it starts the install and freezes, then goes into a boot loop.
I cant see any file system at all.
I've tried putting ADB sideload mode in, but it doesn't recognize it
Please, does anyone know what i should do?

The problem with Viper makes it sound like you installed the 1.40 base rom on the 1.32 firmware, so are you sure the 1.40 firmware flashed? You can check this in download mode.
So Aroma is crashing during install? Are you able to save the installation log? Which version of TWRP are you using?
I hope that 1.40 installed... it says so in download mode.
im using TWRP 2.8.6.4
the reason i decided to start over with a full-wipe zip is because of the problem with the constant rebooting.
should i try to do a RUU like shown here?

TWRP 2.8.6.4 is a beta version. You should use the official version 2.8.6.1 (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3066720)
what ROM(s) are you trying to install? And what errors are you getting in Aroma installer? If download mode says 1.40, then that's probably accurate.
i've tried ViperROM and android revolution.
Neither work. Both crash as soon as it gets started after configuration... I don't see any "error codes" or anything, just reboots and starts a boot loop.
i can try again with 2.8.4.1. but at this point, i just want to have my phone working again.

So...you begin the ROM install in TWRP, the Aroma installer starts, you go through your options, press install, and what? Do you see wiping data? system? Does it show progress percentage? Or right after you press install in aroma, aroma FCs, and the phone reboots?
essentiallly yes.
In aroma, i go thru the options about installing the ROM.
then it asks if i want to wipe before install, then install starts.
in Android Revolution, it gets to 30% right away, then crashes.
in ViperONE it gets to 1%, hangs, then crashes.
i'm sorry i dont have a log to show.

Are you able to mount cache in the TWRP mount menu?
Are you positive you have good ROM downloads? Are you able to unzip them on a computer?
I'm running out of ideas. You might want to post in this TWRP thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3066720
Who is your carrier? If there's an RUU for your specific carrier, you could try running it. You know it will wipe your SD card, though, right?
I ended up installing the RUU from the link I posted. It worked like a charm.
"You are aware it will wipe your SD"
DUDE! I literally had a blank phone. It showed 32gb free space. There was NOTHING on it.
The RUU worked though.
I kinda want to try again, because I have no idea what went wrong or why... At least I know how to fix it now.
Thanks for the help.

for flashing the no-wipe I had no problems but I did go into the 3 android-info.txt files and change the cid and mid to match my device. also had to flash it twice as the first flash always fails. Recently I learned about changing the cid to supercid and I think that solves having to go into the files. If your phone is still not working you can always go to the link below and download the RUU for your device and then run the .exe file from your pc and return to stock (I'd look for the specific instructions for that because I did leave some steps out).
EDIT--just looked at full wipe file and it's not an RUU must have been another thread I was thinking of.

I ended up installing the RUU from the link I posted. It worked like a charm.

DUDE! I literally had a blank phone. It showed 32gb free space. There was NOTHING on it.
The RUU worked though.
I kinda want to try again, because I have no idea what went wrong or why... At least I know how to fix it now.
Thanks for the help.

Yeah, well now that you know the RUU works to restore I think you'd be safe to try again.
Just install the latest TWRP (2.8.6.1) and flash the NO WIPE 1.40.401.8 firmware. The wipe version contains the stock recovery and you don't want that.
Or, if you want to use Viper, there's an option in Aroma to install it with the 1.32 kernel so you could just skip the firmware update.

Where are people getting the 1.40 RUUs? All that I see on the HTC website are 1.32 versions. Even the Unlocked/Developer rom is 1.32.617.30
Do I need to look on the international site?
