Is my Nexus 5X really dead ? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I was calling someone with Google Duo. My N5X was really hot. And suddenly, the screen turned off.
Since this time, I'm unable to power it. Neither by pressing the power button (30+ sec), nor by the combo power + volume down.
Nothin happens when I plug the USB cable...
After 1 day of charging, nothin happened too.
It seems that my N5X is really dead... Any idea ?

Hey,
Are you on stock or custom rom?
What about warranty?
What if you plug your phone on a computer? (fastboot or whatever)
Btw try to unclip the back cover and check the battery

Thanks.
I called the Google Support, they'll change my N5X.
When I plug it on a computer, nothin happend.
I was on a custom rom...
If I unclip the back of my phone, it will break the warranty I think.

Yes, apparently. I think in my country the warranty is over 2 years (UE)

Ex kernel and set up threshold as 80~90 helps boot in stable.

My Nexus 7 2013 is completely dead, help

So I went to use it and it wouldnt turn on, dont think the battery was dead but i wasnt sure, nothing would work even when plugged in, no led blinks, no bootloader mode, nothing. Finally after holding the power button for a little bit it turned on while the power cord was plugged in. Then about 15 seconds later it shut down and back to no response.
I plugged it in and let it sit overnight, I got up and turned it on, turned on like normal, used it for maybe a minute, was satisfied that it mustve had a low battery, and i walked away, come back a few hours later and it wont turn on again, wont go into bootloader, nothing. Just blank. Now I know the battery is charged now but its just a mess.
Its unlocked, running scars aokp 10/16 his kernel and has been for a week now. No issues before this. I popped the cover off and the battery connection seems ok, Help?
Looks like something is wrong with the battery. It drains too fast.

Yeah, idk nothing works anymore. I'm hoping to get a new one if I send it into Asus. Have to call back tomorrow they said I'll have to send it in. I'd just buy a new one but for the price and now the reliability of this device. Not interested in spending the money for one again. Very unimpressed

You just been unlucky.
They should replace the battery at no extra cost.
Flash it back to stock.
How am I supposed to flash it to stock. It doesn't do anything.

I think there is nothing wrong with your Tab. The battery is just drained.
There are quite a few people here with similar issue. I had this problem with two of my NookHD+s (bought four).
When drained, the Tabs just didn't wake up & start charging when plugged in ... I had to "wake" it up to get charged !!
I don't remember exactly how. But I had to hold some key-combos (Power+U --> Power+Volume+/- on N7) .. until I got a
screen response, then let it charge for awhile. (I almost packed them up for RMA .. until this did the trick).
THEN, you have to check which app is draining your battery.
wont it void all warrenty if sending back to asus with using a custom rom on it
they will know iam sure.they will just send unit back to you
The battery isn't dead, when it does turn on like normal for a few seconds, it says the battery is at 100 percent. I'm fairly certain it's not a battery issue. Believe me, I've tried hundreds of button combos, my next hope is to keep trying bootloader and hope that it goes into it on one of the times it does turn on.

Prolly, but the booklet does say they will cover any hardware issues but is not liable for software or 3rd party software. So if it's hardware I don't think they will care, unlocked or not. I think.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
A few years back, I had to RMA my TF101. I had a customROM on it (it didnot power up to get back to stock).
They indicated NoProblemFound but the Tab was wiped cleanly back to initial stock stage (if no problem was found .. why
the trouble to wipe ?). I (later) found out it would power up if I hold the Power long enough.
So, I guess they (contracted repair service) would just hook up the Tab then do a factory image recovery (I ended up sending it back
two more times before they replace the bad mainboard).

but if you used a kernel they could say it was over clocked causing hardware damage
as i tested a few kernels with over clocking and seen there was alot of heat coming
from camera area top right .. so now iam back to stock kernel less worrys
Eh, well somehow I got it to boot one of the times it did into bootloader, I ran to the computer and flashed to stock, it's still unlocked and can't get it to relocate the bootloader but at least it's on a stock rom. Got my rma info tonigjt

Well, got the bootloader to lock thanks to adb. Now to box it up this weekend and send it out.

Hello, I have an sgh-i747 it was running task650s rom and one day it just randomly shut off. I tried everything and was told to buy a jig to put the phone into download mode. I bought a jig, plugged it in, still nothing. When I plug it into the computer it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD #3 (im using a mac).
What should I do next? All I did was plug the jig into the USB but nothing happened.
This is the jig I bought

Is your warranty up? Did you try a different battery? Sounds like a hardware failure. How long were you running tasks650 before the problem occurred? Did you flash the ROM that is specific to AT&T? You could try contacting josh at mobiletechvideos.com. Head to his site and chat with him as he's quite knowledgeable. I don't use a mac so i'd have no idea what that error code means. Sorry i wasn't much help. Good luck

It does sound like a hardware rather than firmware issue. Did you try another battery in the phone or try the current battery in another device? If it isn't something as simple as a completely dead battery, it could be a short somewhere on the motherboard.

I just got my phone back from Josh. My power button was shorted on the board so he fixed me right up. The symptoms on my phone were it would get to Samsung screen and subsequently power off. Same in DL mode so it could very well be that your power button is shorted in a manner which it just won't power on at all. Hopefully that's all it is. 40 bucks and you're back up and running

No complaints here. Its better in mostly every way (battery life, speed, looks etc). Best part is not having to put a custom rom on it since its a nexus. Only thing the Galaxy beats it in is that it has a removable battery so you could carry around two batteries. I got a 2amp car charger and the phone charges pretty quickly on the car charger and home charger.

[Q] Dead/bricked phone

Hi! Some time ago I wrote about not working volume buttons. Yesterday I left my phone connected to charger, and it was charging all night. This morning I found the phone turned off, I tried turning it on, but it doesn't do anything! Connected to PC - nothing, connected to charger - nothing, removing/inserting battery - nothing, other cables/chargers - nothing. It's just like without battery. Is there any way to fix it? Is it bricked? Few details about it: I have this phone about 2 months, stock 4.3 with root, locked bootloader, never damaged (falling into water, on ground etc.)
I'm Sorry , it's seems like bricked device

one and only option - flash stock 4.1.2 firmware with flashtool
if this does not work may be your phone is bricked. The only way is go to sony service center and act as a dumb , (dont tell them that you are rooted your device and tell them i dont know anything about rooting,etc..)so, usually they dont have much time and they'll replace you with new handset.
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
I'm guessing there's a problem with the battery.

That's tragic for your xperia and as you say you haven't done anything that may cause this problem than maybe it was like a short circuit or electrical surge which fried the phones chip and make it dead because as ansebovi said, if it would hv been bricked than it would hv flashed the led atleast.

[Q] Broken Huawei Ascend P1?

Hi Folks, I have a problem with my Huawei Ascend P1. I tried to change the internal battery but I think while trying that, I might damage the phone. After I did that. I wont start up unless I plug it in, it only boots up to the Huawei Screen, vibrates and the turns off.
The funny part is it even boots up in that way without a battery (always plugged in).
The question is the following, what do you think is the problem here? Something got disconnected? May I have broken the battery flex or maybe the power button flex?
Thank you in advance
You probably have something disconnected, take out the battery and examine the area for any small wires and slots. This is usually the case, because the device stills boots when plugged in.
