When I bought my g4 I was torn between the g4 and the nexus 6.
I chose the g4 based on how much I liked my g3 and after having this g4 for 6 weeks I just cannot take these touch screen issues and a few other minor issues. Since the nexus 6 was on sale at Amazon I jumped on it.

I'm sorry you bought into an old phone weeks before the new one is due to be announced.

Thanks for letting us know?
I don't give a crap if it's 11 months old! It still will keep up with 95% of today's flagship phones. The point of my post was that the verizon version of the lg g4 has a lot of issues and my window to return has passed. But thanks for the sarcastic and usual XDA comment.

Well come on. You go on the G4 forums saying how you dislike the G4. I have no idea what you were expecting for a response...

The Nexus 6 has a much worse camera too.
So you felt the need to create a thread on the G4 forum about how your return window was almost up and decided to get a different phone?
The point of my post was that the g4 (verizon version) has been a complete letdown and that I followed this sub forum since getting the phone and the threads with the most comments are the root threads and/or touch screen problems. When I upgraded from the g3 I thought I would be getting a better product. Neither LG or Verizon will acknowledge the issues this version has. That's why I gave up on the phone, maybe it's a downgrade? All I know is that my particular phone sucked ass and it's great to have a phone that at just works.

Although some are being babies about people talking smack about their beloved LG G4, I think this was a valuable post. He will surely help others who are unsure as to go with the G4 or not. If I were looking to buy a phone that was 100% solid, and came across a thread like this saying that someone gave it an honest try and couldn't continue, I would be very thankful.
Personally i've had zero issues with my VS986 and wouldn't trade it for anything. I would however be nervous if I broke it and had to claim insurance on it since there would be a chance that my replacement would have touchscreen issues.
Thanks OP! Enjoy your Nexus 6!
I understand your pains but you should have got a Moto X Pure. Slightly smaller, better specs, and sd card support. Mine will be in in a couple weeks.

Agreed, the Moto X Pure is pretty much better in every way.
So I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm thinking about selling the phone and grabbing the moto x pure. I'm on the edge program. If I sell the phone and pick up the pure, I know I can activate it at Verizon. Do I have to pay off the G4 before activating pure? Or can I just sell the G4, grab the pure, and continue making payments on the G4? Not sure if that would work or not.

Pretty sure whoever you sell it to won't be able to activate it, if it isn't paid off.

From my understanding, you can buy a new phone and/or sell your current one, but if you stop making payments then the person who bought your phone would no longer be able to use it as it's blacklisted.
Yes, this is true you can sell it just don't stop making the payments.

I would be hella pissed if my phone stopped working several months into it because the guy who sold it to me never paid it off. That sounds like a scam right there. I think Swappa even checks IMEI numbers prior to being posted.
My G4 is fantastic. I really have little to no problem with it. It runs great, battery is great, camera is amazing, stable, etc. My Qi Charging sticker WAS causing lockups throughout the night but those magically went away (for no apparent reason). It will occasionally miss taps (which I suspect to be a background process or CPU throttle issue) and the Notification light gets wonky occasionally (blinks when no notifications).
Other than that the G4 is a powerhouse. There are 2 new Nexus phones to be released this year and the LG seems to be a smaller brother to the G4 (SD 808, 2700mAh battery, 5.2" screen) and the Huawei which is rumored to either use their own CPU, SD810, or SD820 (which I doubt). I would be leery of any of the other 2 choices. If you were to get the LG, you would be sacrificing specs for plain Android (like always)
Phones on Verizon edge do NOT show as a financed phone. I know this seems wrong but it's true, I just checked my wife's droid turbo on swappa and it's clear for activation.

Technically Swappa does not allow the sale of a financed device per their listing criteria. However as far as I understand there is no way for them to verify if a phone is on an installment/payment plan.
well, I can only hope that you will like your nexus 6. Don't hate your phone~

Have a great day
I already have a Note 3 but would love to try a Gear VR. Finally found an okay price for a Note 4 on craigslist today and was excited to give it a go. I'm on tmobile but my verizon Note 3 functions just fine so I thought I'd "upgrade."
So far ... I kind of hate it.
The fact that this phone can't be rooted (because of Verizon?) wouldn't be quite so depressing if it weren't for the hideous pastel colors staring me in the face every time I pull down the tool bar or open a menu ... Yes I've installed a custom launcher but it doesn't change the 80's era color scheme ... This is 2015. I can't choose the background color on my own damn phone? Really?
I had my Note 3 setup the way I wanted it to look with a rom that gave me a lot of options, and going from having control over aesthetics to having basically no control over them is a shock. Like moving from a house you own and can paint any color you want to an awful pastel apartment that you can't paint because the landlord won't let you.
The lockscreen. I liked the option on my Note 3 to pick the effect when unlocking my phone. The rippling water effect was my favorite. Now I have ... no such option? The choice to change it seems to be grayed out?
The heat. Running low graphic Cardboard apps and the back of this phone seems to be getting awfully warm awfully fast. Haven't tried anything really intensive yet but I'm already worried about heat.
Speed. Not notably faster (no pun intended) than my customized Note 3. Apps that were slow on the 3 ... are still slow on this phone. Menus seem to open at about the same speed or possibly even slower.
Pixel density. I thought having a higher resolution screen would mean less visible picture structure ... Not really seeing it. I can look at my two phones side by side and unless I zoom in, there is not that much visible difference in image quality, except ...
The one good thing:
The camera. Took a couple of photos and am really impressed by the amount of detail that shows up. Definitely a big leap over the camera in my Note 3 ...
But ... I'm thinking maybe I should sell this to someone else on craigslist and go back to my Note 3.
Anyone else have a similar reaction? Am I missing something here?
Honestly only you can answer that question. In regards to root, only DE have it as far as I know for any carrier. If you HAVE to have root, then it might have been a mistake.

Actually the Note 4 on Sprint and T-Mobile are both rootable. Verizon and AT&T are the a**holes here. Actually @Haints you just made the same mistake most other people did. You didn't do the research before you spent your money. Because I've been practically living in this forum for 4 years I've seen the day when Verizon would lock a phone down to where nobody would be able to root it coming. I bought a Note 4 Developer Edition.
What a terrible corporate policy. WHY do they do that? Well, I've learned my lesson. I will never buy a Verizon phone again. ( Scratch that. Sounds like you never really "own" a Verizon phone to begin with, since they lock it down to keep the OS the way they want it. I will never ... rent a Verizon phone again?)
I did figure out how to change the lock option, and I do like the phone, apart from the choices I'm locked out of ... but having freely owned a phone before, I can't forget what that feels like. So f*ck Verizon.
And yes, Stuey, I did err by not doing my research here. The Verizon Note popped up on craigslist at a good price and I jumped at it. My mistake.
Thanks to you both for responding!

You're not the only one. It's heartbreaking to see this happen to so many people. The Verizon Note 4 forums are depressing. Pretty much all of us plan to leave Verizon someday. The only reason I'm still with them is T-Mo and Sprint suck so bad around here. I'm just hoping for them to improve some.
The reason they do it is because locking them makes them more secure. All of the big corporate and government accounts like them that way. Hackers are becoming more of a problem. Verizon makes a lot of extra money because they are more secure than the others. We'll probably all lose our rootable phones soon.

I've already given up.
I've been stuck with the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4 ever since it launched last year...I bought it right as it came out, expecting that it would get root at some point like previous phones.
Every single day I've visited these forums, patiently waiting for a permanent root. I have so much pent-up frustration over waiting that I recently splurged on a 128 GB Frost Huawei Nexus 6P and permanently canceled my Verizon contract. I gave up.
I've been a loyal Verizon customer since 2007 with previous phones rooted and I just couldn't stand it anymore. I'm sick of being treated like a child not being able to do what I want with a phone that I purchased with MY money.
I hope they realize that they're going to be losing loyal customers like me at a rapid pace over digging their heels on this ridiculous policy.
I preordered the retail version at upgrade price ($300) and sold it a month later for $590 after giving up on waiting for root. Then paid an extra $110 for the developer edition. So I paid for a developer edition for $410 instead of $700. I wish I thought about this once I got the phone to sell it for more but overall I still came out on top. The DE Note 4 is the best phone out right now on Verizon. Nothing compares, yet. And I still have unlimited data but I hear they are changing the price to $50 a month for people who are grandfathered in D:

Unfortunately, VZW doesn't care. People who root their devices make up a small percentage of their customers. VZW is more concerned about promoting safety and security.
I was an iPhone user up to the release of iPhone 6. Decided to get Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (verizon) because of easy access to change battery. (As each new iPhone model made seems to make it more difficult.) I've had the Note for over a year. I keep telling myself that I'll get used to it. I haven't yet. I hate it! I fight with it every time I want to do a simple task. On top of how confusing it is to use compared to iPhone. Battery drains fast. Screen turns on randomly. And now any app I try to install from google play AND amazon app, it just hangs saying, "installing.........."-google play. And "install pending........"-amazon. It's been like that for 48 hours now. WTH? I have 10 gigs free'd up. I restarted app, restarted phone tried searching Forums. YES, I hate this phone. And if Samsung drops support on this phone, I'm going to drop my support for Samsung products.
Yeah you screwed up just like the rest of us. I came from ATT, who are assholes by the way, and am pretty much gonna dump Verizon when my contract is up. I will buy my own phones from now on, no more carrier branded, locked out , **** phones like this one. The Note 4, when locked down, is actually a turd. its slow, it crashes and pretty much just all around sucks. Root would make this a great phone, but there will never be root until long after this phone is ancient and useless.
They say Android 6 will fix the issues that Android 5 caused. The Note 4 with Android 4.4 ran good. The latest word is Android 6 will come in February.

By that time the Note 4 will be an ancient turd. I liked my Note 2 waaaay better than this piece of garbage.
We know that Verizon has gimped this device. We know Verizon has sold app space on our device storage to the highest bidder. Yes we could disable apps and get around a lot of things. But Verizon has literally treated as FOOLS. Is it all worth it?
We have a 14 day return policy. In my case I have 90 days thru Costco (I believe).
How many if you are seriously considering returning it?
I have until Friday Sept 2nd for my 14 days.
It's amazing how much I had enjoyed the OP3. Now I'm seriously considering throwing the phone back in Verizon's face (figuratively of course).
How many of you are considering returning?
Why return when you can Odin TMO or AT&T firmware since the hardware is the same for all carriers? The only feature I wanted was Samsung cloud and that is now doable and working for me. BThe rest of the features disabled are minimal IMHO.

No, they don't support the same bands I believe. Unless someone finds a way to enable them, you could always go with the N930U when it comes out.
TBH I always consider returning anything. Then the 14 days comes and goes...
Look, it's only been a week and there's already root. Even if it's a pain in the arse to do, you have it. That may be close to a record.
Compared to the Note 5 which hasn't been touched. Look how long the Note 4 took to get somewhere.
We could only hope for a way to unlock the bootloader.
But until then, at least there is a way to root the device and it's actually a bonafide root. None of this temporary stuff.
I'm sure this cross flashing stuff will get patched in a future release.
But it's always a challenge at first.
I liked the hardware and options when the S7E came out. Then as I used the phone it started pissing me off. That one I regretted keeping past the return. When I got my GearVR (finally got it in June!) I broke out my Note 5 and used it with that. Then I realized how much I missed the Note 5 and started using it again and put the S7E in a drawer.
Now that the Note 7 is here I'm finding it has the features I like in the Note 5 with the features of the S7E minus its shortcomings. (especially the over sensitive screen and edge panels!). I do wish they stuck with the 16MP sensor. HOWEVER, the camera software on the Note 7, particularly in professional mode, is superior to any Samsung device prior. Being able to adjust shutter speed while shooting video rocks!

I agree. This phone improves upon the S7E. Like you, I always buy with the intention of returning but the Note is a keeper and will be my daily driver. I'll attempt root tomorrow and see how it goes. Never.. I love this thing.. I really didn't think I would.. But even with them messing with things(i consider them like 5 year old kids that can't leave anything alone), I still like the device. And at this point, I blame Samsung.. They either don't care(which it honestly seems to me to be the case), or simply have no guts..
Either way, there are ways around most of the carrier foolishness.. And it honestly makes me laugh. This is by far the fastest root to have been achieved on a note that I can remember, and I've had all but the 5. The moor they try and lock things down, the better our developers get.. And hire all they want, as it shows, there are plenty in the waking that each generation, are better and more determined than the last.. So I say, to Verizon, who really cares about your bloat and messing.. It will be worked around anyhow..
But no, I wouldn't trade this thing for the world
from note 7
I'm debating on it because I for some reason dont get any better battery life than I do with my 6P. I did a hard reset last night and downloaded the apps manually that I use in a day and gonna try that out today and see how it works. If its still garbage it more than likely will go back

1. The software settings options Verizon had received. I thought it was funny when one of the threads mentioned the removal of ram and battery options. Some people were pissed cause it was gone and the other side was largely berating them because "programmers were better know and knew what was best to optimize the phone."
I feel that flies in the face of what so many android users want and the xda forum stands for. If I buy a phone, it's my phone, to do with as I damn well please, for better or worse.
2. My job puts my phone in some very tough and tumble situations. Quite frankly, I don't feel there's a case/screen protector combo that will keep it safe. I've previously sworn by iblaison cases, and I'm willing to bet they have survived more abuse than many of you put your phones through.
When they get the case/screen/body protector thing figured out, maybe I'll be back.
Guys... in light of the recall today AND the other issues that I've talked about.. I have returned by Galaxy Note 7. It was fun while it lasted, but the last thing I want is the phone exploding or catching fire (small chance.. but still good enough for samsung to issue a recall and stop the sales).
I returned it back to Costco and got the Moto Z Droid instead. So long guys..
Hello everyone it's been a while since I have posted anything on a HTC section. I am currently have the Note 7 and well I have to give it up. I was considering the S7 but there is practically zero roms for it due to the locked boot loader. I wanted to get some feedback from the community and see if your current experience and thoughts are on the 10.
I love trying out new roms, currently in love with TEKHD roms.
What do you guys like about the phone? Pros and cons. If you could go back, Would you consider the S7 despite the locked bootloader or buy a different phone?
The v20 is out but I am not digging the phone, mainly for the price point. Only reason to consider the S7 and S7 Edge is due to the free 256gb SD Card and 100 bucks in credit from samsung. Oh and lastly, I don't see a HTC 10 for tmobile, is there a reason for that?

I wouldn't get the S7. I had it for 4 months and was not happy with it, even though overall it's a great phone. I would DEF get the HTC 10 over it. The camera on the S7 has slightly more detail than the 10's, but the 10's is more color accurate (as is the screen vs. S7's). The sound quality during calls was not that great on my S7 (locked from T-Mobile). I have the Sony Xperia XP right now and even w/o VoLTE (incl. HD Voice) it still sounds WAY better. The single speaker on the S7 is the worst ever too. I mean it really sux! lol The HTC 10 also has cool features like double tap to wake & sleep, smart call handling/auto answer calls (answer calls by simply picking up phone while it lays flat and lifting it to your ear; no need to swipe screen anymore), etc. The audio technology on the HTC 10 is WAY better b/c they put in more money on it and everyone thinks it sounds the best! I listen to a lot of music on premium headphones, and I know the 10 won't disappoint (I tried it out for a week). If using a digital connection to the S7 for headphone listening, because of a USB driver issue, it will make your music skip like every 3-5 min. I really DON'T miss that! lol
Also, HTC is VERY cool with ppl unlocking its bootloaders. So since you like flashing ROMs, that's another plus with getting a 10.
The HTC 10 is currently on sale 'til next Monday for $150 off. The only down side is they're out of 2 of the 4 colors (available on unlocked models only) until most likely after the sale ends. So right now there's only the black and silver ones available, but both are nice too. I had the One M8 in silver a couple years ago and it was great phone! And they've only gotten better since, though I hope the HTC 11 moves that fingerprint sensor from the front and INTEGRATES it into the side Power button the way Sony does it, and then also move that bottom facing speaker back to its rightful place at the bottom front. We'll see. Still, the 10 is great though.
The 10 didn't sell well enough for T-Mobile to keep it in stock I guess, so you can only buy it from HTC or maybe Amazon (etc) online now? I guess SOME T-Mobile stores have it in stock still, but you'd have to call and find them, and there may not be any around you that do. The good news is, HTC actually CARED enough about their customers (unlike Sony Mobile) to get the unlocked HTC 10 certified with T-Mobile for their VoLTE (which includes HD Voice) and Wi-Fi Calling services, so you WILL get both of those features on even the unlocked one. I say get the unlocked one b/c more color options + you'll get updates faster cuz they won't have to go through T-Mobile first to get configured before deployment.
On top of all that, you get HTC's Uh-Oh Protection plan. The first year is covered with that (for free) for broken screens or water damage, and if you DON'T use it, you get a $100 credit off the purchase of a future HTC One series phone. More details here. A sweet deal if you ask me.
Hope that helps!

I called several stores and none of them have it. I know I can go directly to HTC and buy it but I can not afford to pay the full retail price. I was hoping I could finance it through tmobile. ;/ I might just have to stick with my trusty Note 5 or opt for a S7 or S7 Edge which I just found out have practically zero modding community

If you have Amazon Prime like I do, you could sign up for their Amazon Prime Store Card (log in to Amazon to see details). I got it sometime ago, and it lets you pay off any item at or over $149 over 6 mos interest-free, or at/over $599 12 mos interest-free. That's what I'm using now actually to pay off my Sony Xperia X Performance actually. Prices will vary here though and you HAVE to make sure not the get the int'l ones off Amazon b/c 4G LTE doesn't work on them. (Read the descriptions before buying.)
HTC.com DOES have a monthly financing option as well through PayPal. They say you get a $250 line of credit if approved, but when you go through the application process, it appears they raise it to cover the FULL price of the phone. You'll get 6 months to pay it off, interest-free. Select "PayPal Credit" in checkout to see that option on the HTC site.
Both options will require a credit check, which is not a big deal if you haven't recently applied for a credit card or credit of some kind and are in good standing. Even if you have applied once or twice recently, it should be fine. Look at the details of both and then make your decision.
P.S. See my last post again. I added some stuff like the Uh-Oh Protection part right when you replied.
Hope that helps! F Samsung! lol

I switched from Note 7 to HTC 10, so far the phone is blazing fast. Haven't experienced any lag of any kind unlike Note 7. When typing on the Note 7 you experience the input lag and you have to uninstall apps in order to make the phone fast. While htc 10 you don't have to delete apps to make the phone fast it's already fast. The only thing i miss from the note is the big screen and Samsung pay. Watching videos on the 10 is good experience especially with the loud speakers. So yeah if you can find the 10 in a store I highly recommend getting it.

I agree with L on the lag. My S7 lagged ALL the time. Funny how a phone with 4 GBs of RAM and an 820 processor is slower to load things up than my Sony Xperia X Performance, which only has 3 GBs of RAM. And yes, all the reviews indicate that both music and call quality is crystal clear on the 10 (which was the same for the previous One series phones by HTC).
I'll admit that Samsung Pay was kinda cool to have, but I'd never stay with Samsung just for that. That's literally the ONLY thing I miss about my S7. lol
Yes check the stores but seriously consider that PayPal Credit option too via the HTC site. That's what I would do. Plus by buying it through their site you get that Uh-Oh Protection, which you WON'T get if you buy it through T-Mobile or even Amazon. And if you don't use Uh-Oh, that's $100 off your next HTC phone, saving you even more money in the future.
I don't have much to add other than I was in your shoes looking to replace my Note 7 and I'm happy I got the HTC 10.
I didn't even know what fast was until I got this phone.
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
I had a tough decision between the Note 7 and the HTC 10 before I bought my device. It was before we knew they were all catching on fire, so I was seriously considering the Note 7 as well as the 10.
I pay full retail price on my devices, and money is tight so I have to be quite picky. I'm VERY happy that I chose the HTC 10 myself. The sunshine s off process is amazing, and worth every dime, you don't even have to bother with the bootloader unlock basically, if you go s-off, which I recommend in most cases of users (I have a theory for really wreckless people and s off, it's like drunk drivers, just put them in their own lane, they'll eliminate themselves)
For me, I only full with Android and run devices that I can root and flash on, it's my hobby, and kind of like my cars, I won't pay for something I can't tinker with or fix things I don't like, at least have the option.
While the HTC 10 hasn't been the largest device for custom rom quantity as far as development goes, I think the development quality is better than a lot of devices with way more roms available.
If you don't like HTC sense, and enjoy the HTC interface, I'd recommend a different device personally. You can eliminate HTC sense and run nova launcher, but the base of the rom will be HTC.
The kernels available for the device, if you enjoy flashing and tuning custom kernels, are awesome. All of the kernels I've tried from the development section ran really well, so it's not one of those cases where there's only a few options and they all suck, as some other devices have had, all of these rom and kernel developers have done outstanding.
Now for screen size, if you're buying the Note 7 for a huge screen, I would consider if it's going to be a problem that you only have a semi-huge screen. In my opinion, the screen size is perfect, I can reach everything easily and I don't have huge hands, and the fingerprint reader on the front of the HTC 10 is the ONLY fingerprint reader I've ever used consistently because it's the only one that's ever been implemented so well.
Charlies,
My "bootloader unlocking/rooting" days began & ended 2 years ago with my HTC One M8. At first I loved the extra freedom that comes with that world, but after a while I didn't like it so much b/c you have to do everything manually, so when I upgraded to the Sony Xperia Z3 later that year, that era was done with. Still, I got to upgrade my sound on my T-Mobile M8 from BoomSound to the Sprint Harman/Kardon sound using that process to obtain an H/K mod someone had extracted from the Sprint version. It def made a noticeable improvement in sound quality at the time, and I loved it! I too did the S-Off thing too (but not using Sunshine, I found another way that was free) as it was required in addition to unlocking the bootloader and rooting in order to install that mod. So I guess I was wreckless? lol
I feel like HTC is the only brand that not only lets you unlock the bootloader w/o penalty, but actually SUPPORTS the practice too.
Yes, when I had the HTC 10 that one week in June I recall the fingerprint sensor functioning very well too! I HATE phablets, so the HTC 10 is definitely what I'd go with over the Note anything. lol

Unlocked version is GSM; T-Mo and AT&T are GSM. That's the version I have and I use Ting, which uses T-Mo & AT&T.
Unlocked version direct from htc, nice warranty, unlock support, most recent RUUs available for download, $150 off won me over. I like the phone so far (only had it a week).
Wife loves it. We wanted the Note 7 but we also wanted to live. The Pixel, the S7, and the V20 just aren't worth the cost to us.

After that 1 year "Uh-Oh Protection" warranty ends, and you decide you want to keep it beyond the first year, you can do what I did which was get PRIVATE phone insurance for your phone. The 2 best ones are Square Trade and Worth Ave. Group. I went with Worth Ave. Group b/c I liked that they cover thefts too, though not malfunctions. Square Trade is the opposite. But if something goes wrong, just crack the screen and Worth Ave. will replace it anyway. lol And Worth is cheaper too.
Not everyone wants to get a new phone within a year of buying their last one, and not everyone wants or likes a carrier phone, so this is a great option for those people!

Insurance is to cover something one cannot afford to replace. If that's the case, then one shouldn't be buying phones one cannot afford!
Otherwise, my MIL-STD-810G-tested case is my "insurance".

Ok. I guess people shouldn't be buying homes and cars either. lol Just because I can afford something doesn't mean I wanna pay full price to replace it.
Hey, if you decide to get the HTC 10 let me know and I'll pm you a $150 off coupon code that HTC gave me.
In regards to the OP,
If you have the cash to dish out on an unlocked HTC 10 then you will definitely not be disappointed. At this point, HTC is one of the most 'modding friendly' companies left... next to buying a Nexus of course.
But if you don't have the cash i'd recommend getting a refurbished M8. They can be had for $90-$150. My son uses my old M8 now so I keep it updated... currently have S.Team's latest rom. Only areas where my 10 outshines the M8 is the Camera, DAC, & some gaming. In terms of day-to-day performance though, they are identical

Either way, insurance is only beneficial if the phone being replaced is fairly new. I've never tried any private insurance so I can't speak on that. But, you have to meet the deductible (up to $199) to get a phone replaced. You'd be better off using that $199 towards a better phone

Yes, it is only worth doing on a new device. I'll agree with you there.
$199? Maybe if you're insuring from AT&T. My insurer, Worth Ave. Group, only charges $50 for the deductible. And my phone is pretty new (purchased in mid to late June).

Yea, carriers is what I was referring to... AT&T and Verizon specifically. If it appears to be a manufacturer defect both will replace it for free even after the warranty expires. Ironically, Verizon is a little more lenient than AT&T in that aspect. I'm gonna look into Worth Ave. Group though. I skimmed through the link you gave & so far seems like decent way to go.

Ok. Yeah Square Trade won't cover theft, but will cover defective phones, where Worth Ave Group is the opposite. To me, if the phone goes bad, I'll just take a hammer to the screen and be done with it, since Worth DOES cover accidental damage and/or cracked screens. lol
I think Worth offers the best bang for your buck too. Plus they have an A+ rating with the BBB. Not much more you can ask for.

Hey samisax,
I wish I could give you specific information, but the fact is, that was 2 years ago, and I don't remember exactly what I did or how I did it. I just know that in order to install the Harman/Kardon mod that was exclusive to the Sprint HTC One M8 "Harman/Kardon Special Edition" phones (the M8 phones had all the SAME hardware, but Sprint H/K M8s had this software no other carrier or even HTC's unlocked phones did, until this guy created a mod from that software) onto my T-Mobile One M8, I had to unlock the bootloader, root the phone, AND switch "S-On" to "S-Off". The S-Off part was I THINK the hardest? I just remember it took me a few tries and I was up 'til like 2am one night doing it, but then right there I FINALLY got it, and was able to install the mod (amongst other things, but THAT was my priority). I remember definitely noticing an improvement in the already great sound, and being quite happy with the results. And now Harman/Kardon stereo systems are being put into Mercedes Benz cars. lol
I have no interest in going through all that again though. It was a cool "adventure" for 3-4 months there, but then I got tired and what was fun at first started feeling more like work. You have to maintain everything manually when you unlock the bootloader and/or root I learned, and I stopped enjoying that after a while. Not long after.... the Sony Xperia Z3 finally came out, and so I switched to that after about 6 mos with the M8....... and that (Z3) is arguably the best phone I ever had. I had S7 (Samsung.........mehh lol), the HTC 10 for like a week, and now the Sony Xperia X Performance. But the battery life on my Z3 TRUMPS those newer phones in that arena. I think it's really cool though that HTC is so supportive of and pro-modding. They clearly care more about their customers (esp U.S. customers) than Sony Mobile does. I'm seeing that more and more. As mentioned in my one post in this thread, HTC offers the Uh-Oh Protection Plan (and pays you $100 off your next phone if you don't use it)..........they made sure to activate the fingerprint sensor in the U.S. versions of the 10................they made sure to meet T-Mobile's certification requirements for VoLTE (including HD Voice) & Wi-Fi Calling on their unlocked phones................they release their phones in a TIMELY manner in the U.S......................these are all things Sony Mobile is unwilling to do. So in 2017 I may very well switch back. We'll see.
I found a deal on a Pixel XL for $110 and am thinking about buying it. I'm wondering if it's still worth it or should I wait and save up for another phone?
I'm currently using a LG Stylo 4 on boost Mobile and I hate the phone and the service. I only got it because I needed a new phone in a pinch.
I used to have the redmi note 4 on metro pcs and I loved the phone and the service. I've been looking at the Mi 9T but it will take me awhile to get the $300-$400 to buy it and I'm really sick of my LG and boost.
Just trying to get some opinions.
get it won't be disappointed
@NewbRooter89
I'm about to get a used pixel as well. Either a Pixel XL or a Pixel 2 XL. I've seen the Pixel 2XL in good condition on swappa for $150-165 every now and then... Currently over on swappa all the 2XLs they have currently listed are $200+ but the last one that sold was $157. I may end up getting a XL instead. The XL is the way to go on the og Pixel and the pixel 2. I owned every Nexus ever made and haven't owned a Pixel device yet but definitely look forward to it. Good luck on getting a great deal. They're out there just gotta look around. I've seen people drop a price -$100 on swappa more than once just because someone makes an offer in the comments. That's what I'm doing. Making offers and waiting for "the one." Haha.

Are you sure you don't have a virus? I'd factory reset it and format data and wipe internal storage if I were you and restore my backup afterwards or maybe ever start from scratch. Phones being hot can mean a few things. It could be some sort of virus, it could be a not so good signal or if you used an aftermarket charger it could mess up the battery because they aren't rated same as the ones that come with our devices. I'd wipe it clean and start over and see if it still gets hot and battery dies quickly. If so I'd get another oem battery off eBay and see if that solves it. Battery dying quick and heat point to virus....
Then again if others are having same issues then may be a 10 thing and will get worked out soon I'm sure.

I've had mine for about two weeks and I absolutely love it. If you want root, make ABSOLUTE sure you get a Google version and not a Verizon version. I made that mistake and had to get another one for $150. The trick posted here no longer works, so don't think you can get away with cheaping out on a Verizon.

That's what I thought... I waiting for my battery kit I ordered from ifixit.. hope this can fix my problem. ?
Well I ended up getting a NEW Pixel XL for $135. Every time I wrote in response to an ad on Pixel 2 & 2XL to confirm they were not refurbished units or not Verizon units I either never received a reply or whoever it was wasn't 100% sure they didn't fall into the encrypted bootloader category which refurbished 2 & 2XLs have the encrypted bootloader as well or the write up said nothing about being a Verizon unlocked device and it was which gave me anxiety about ordering at all and all the 2 & 2XLs on Swappa had scratches on the screen or looked like someone tossed em down the hallway or something so I guess it just wasn't meant to be, not for now anyway... But I'm happy with my XL! I'll use my it and save up for a new Pixel on down the road in some months. Sure is great to be back onboard! I had every Nexus there ever was starting with the G1 but I stopped with the 6p and the 5x. Can't believe I've been using non Nexus/Pixel devices since 2016!! I hated every one of em too. ??? I think maybe every year when the new Pixels come out im going to purchase last year's XL model and every year sell em and throw a lil money in with whatever I get for my phone and get another year old model...
My Pixel XL should be here Monday. It's an Amazon renewed phone so hopefully it's not on ****ty condition or I will be sending it back. I'm excited to have a phone I can root again and I'm excited to get back on metro pcs again.
I'm also pretty excited to have an AMOLED screen, 4gb of ram, and a good camera. None of the phones I've had in the past could take good pictures. My wife uses an iPhone 7 and it takes pretty damn good pictures. It was the only thing her phone(s) ever had on mine, lol.
Boost has been terrible. I'm an Uber driver so having a good connection and fast phone is essential. This LG Stylo 4 has potential but with a locked bootloader and so full of bloatware, is just been hard to use. Especially on boost's network.
Thanks for the input everyone. Love this site and what everyone contributes!

You're going to LOVE it!!!!!! I was away from Nexus since they started making Pixel's and now that I'm back onboard I feel dumb for staying out of the loop for so long. I honesty did not know just how much a phone from 2016 was going to impress me and getting my XL I was blown away! This is what I refer to as the real Android experience. I just installed Lineage 17 last night and although it has no features yet from Lineage 16 and is pretty much a base I'm good man and its great! Pixel will be all I use from now on. Saving for a new 4XL now. You will be one happy camper soon.

I bet you will get a Verizon model. Check if OEM Unlock is grayed out in Developer Options as soon as you get it. But if you don't care about Root/ROM, then it doesn't matter. It's a great phone and you will be very happy.
I got 2 verizon pixels a year ago, so android 8.1, and the phone trick worked to unlock them then. I would guess if either of you get a verizon one you could fastboot back to 8.1, unlock it then re-upgrade it
I got my pixel today and it was not a Verizon one. I already rooted it too! So far I love it. Since it was a Amazon renewed phone it did have some small scratches on the screen but when the screen is turned on, you can't even notice them.
I can already tell how much faster this phone is though. It's so snappy and smooth. Now I just need to get actual service for it lol.
It came with 3 free months of Mint Mobile and from what I've researched they use T-Mobile towers and I think I'm going to try it out. I was going to go with metro pcs which also runs on T-Mobile towers but I mind as well try Mint considering it's free.

Get a new XL. I got mine off eBay for $135 brand new in original box just like it was purchased on day 1 when they came out. Great device imo!!
I looked around for about a month before finding the deal I found. It was worth it imo.

I'm not ? sure but if it's not a new one then the guy sure fooled me. ? The way it came was exactly as a device would ship new from Google. That is a good question. Person I purchased from had like the most perfect rating I'd ever seen on eBay. I always ask questions when I buy something regardless of what the item info reads on whatever it is .. My XL had Android 8.10 on it when I received it. ? Do you know the answer to the question or were you asking? I'll see what I can find searching the subject. I'm sure there are ways and info on this.
