I have a Verizon Pixel XL Non-rooted running 7.1.1 (NOF27B) and i keep getting this wakelock from Google Play Services. From my understanding it is from Google Firebase Analytics.
Since I'm not rooted, I can't install a "Package Disable Service" app to turn off this (PackageMeasurementService) service in the Google Play Services app.
Is there any other way to disable Google Firebase Analytics without root? I hate the fact that i can't root or get rid of these wakelocks. Or maybe there is a way to figure out what app is using the firebase analytics, and then i will just uninstall it. Its driving me crazy.

Hey... For a moment I thought an outdated version might cause the issue. But the only new version available is the beta.
I have a little idea... Maybe you could try disabling all user applications in settings > apps > your app(s)>disable.
You could target those that were installed/updated, if you know approximately when it started. If you're unsure, disable all apps and see if the wakelock occurs yet. If not, enable them one by one... Sorry I don't have anything else in mind at the moment.
Good luck...

Basicaly you just need to disable (or you can try to enable them, if they are already disabled) three recievers of google play services app:
SystemUpdateService$ActiveReceiver
SystemUpdateService$Receiver
SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver

You can try to use any software you like to do this.
P.s. AFAIK CM team already made a fix for that, so you can just update to lastest (R24 currently) build. That's worked fine for me

Anybody know how to remove the HTC apps like people, messages, mail?
Also is there a Google version of the people app?
Is there a way to get stock Android lock screen?
Only if you can disable them, otherwise you need root.

Why should it show up in play store? Maybe the screen dpi or something needs to get updates in the app to show up. If you installed it from the source I send, you should be able to use it. No need to update

I can't be bothered to keep manually checking if a new version comes out etc so was hoping perhaps installing apk would force it to show in the play store. Plus I still can't get rid of the HTC people app.
DPI seemed fine to me so not sure why it's not there.

After updating I realized that LeEco didn't update the new camera UI with pro features for Pro3! They have updated the camera on all other models with the 28s version; But when it comes to their latest flagship, they decide not to update camera!

There is no option for those apps.
But for some apps like phone manager that don't need a network connection, you can block the app from connecting to network in connection manager and it won't show the banners anymore!

"Updated" to 28s Friday night (OTA). Then spent several hours getting Google Serrvices and Play Store playing nice again. (Had do remove and reinstall them) .Had to uninstall an reinstall Google apps like Gmail, Calendar and the Google search. What gave me the most problem was Contacts that would not sync Google contacts. Tried to add the Contacts Sync, but didn't have any success until I installed an old version (5.1) and now everything runs smoothly again and my contacts sync as the should. I just mention this, in case somone else runs into the same problems.
Anybody can upload a screenshot of android phone info (in settings) to see if there is a new baseband?
Thanks
I've noticed idle battery drain on my phone and found out that it was caused by an app (it was the Shopee app), so I tried to prevent it from running in background, like limiting its permissions, turning off notifications both in app and phone settings, restricting background activity in Battery Saver.
But after sometime it happens again. I checked in App behavior and it says the app was started by Google Play services.
What does this mean and can I stop it permanently?
If you don't use it, why keep it !

Sorry, you not mentioning that u use it casually, so figured u don't use it. Still, I said "if" though.
Then try to uninstall and install it. Maybe it's the version you have.
If you have root. There are plenty of apps that can put it to sleep.
" rooting "
Hmmm, I know that Google Play Services can be launched by many apps to use any kind of sensors and APIs, but never heard of the opposite... maybe it's the case and is bad translated? In that case, try the BBS app and check what sensors are used

Trash app, trash behavior.
Yeah uninstalling pretty much gets rid of the cause. Wonder what else it's doing?
Solving? That's how it was designed to behave... badly. I would have ditched it the first day.
Or
Disable Google play Services when not needed.
Arguing with members trying to help you won't further you along

Thank you, I do have magisk installed, I'll try Ice Box later and see how it works.
About the other 2, from their descriptions I think what they do is force closing unused apps automatically for you is that right? Would it be different from force closing manually? Because I did try to do that but GP services was still able to launch the app occasionally as reported in App behavior.
First time noticing play services could do this so I was really curious lol, idk if it was google services or the app developer can make it like that?

Brevent prevent apps auto-start, and auto-hybernate/auto-close the app when inactive of the time set in the brevent settings.
SuperFreezZ is as you described.
The following is all just guessing:
The reason that you see GP service launch Shopee app is probably Shopee app designed it.
The culprit is more likely Shopee app. It might have designed to wakeup / auto-start when there is change of the system in some conditions, which has some links to GP service.
What is the easiest way to degoogle? How to remove GMS, GSF and other clutter without breaking phone calling or messaging?
Danke!
Temporarily disabling Google play Services for starters. If you disable it with an adb edit you'll lose access to Playstore and Gmail.
Depends how nuts you want to go...
I use a package disabler on my Samsung so it's easy to enable/disable them. I kill Google backup Transport, AR Core, speech to text, calendar and a bunch more.

Depends on what you mean by "de-google". Completely getting rid of Google including Play Services (+ Google Services Framework) for a full Google wipe, will require signature spoofing your device and replacing with MicroG.

com.google.android.gms.policy, I would not touch. Google play Services can safely be temporarily disabled in app settings without major issues. Google play Services, Backup Transport and Playstore are the major offenders.
While Backup Transport could be probably uninstalled with no impact the others would likely haunt you. Package disabling is easier do and correct when there's an issue... which isn't uncommon
As Andrologic pointed out extensive work arounds will be needed. You may nonetheless still lose full functionality and have problems with some apps.
Once you get it optimized by whatever means you choose to use, Do Not update the bloody thing or you will likely be starting all over. Probably with less options and a loss in overall functionality.

No clue what you're talking about. Google Play Services is needed for Playstore, Gmail and other apps to run. It wasn't retired with Android 10,11 or 12, it's a core Google service.

You don't ever see me posting this type of thread unless I found a solution. There are limits to my patience. Good luck.
