Hi all,
After reading a bit here on XDA, it seems that kitkat has a boot CRC to prevent rooting if the boot-loader is locked.

Now I know our bootloader is not locked, but I understand that we can't build a custom kernel either.
So it is not obvious to me. What are the challenges to rooting a P6 with kit-kat installed?

Suzuki SLDA

Hello XDA,
Anyone had a look at the new Suzuki head units? They are based on a Bosch flavor of Linux (http://oss.bosch-cm.com/suzuki.html) and support Apple Carplay and MirrorLink. For the moment no word of Android Auto.
Since there are still a couple of months until I will get my car I am trying to figure out if any of the developers here had already looked into this system and can share more in depth info.

I have been looking extensively into this system. From what I can tell is that, there are some makes and models of phone based on a particular linux version that can connect. I am not having any luck with my Ubuntu device. I have heard people running CM 12 with success. The list of devices it supports is quite limited to Samsung. The website says it runs 5.1.1 android in the mirror link App. I am running 6.0.1 so not too sure. I have had no luck connecting to mirror link at all. I may have to try running custom CM 12.1 but not sure if I want to change roms yet, or if that is avaiable. I have also tried on the Samsung 2014 note, with no luck it is running 4.4.2 I may try and upgrade to CM 12 but again not sure. How about you?

The main thing is that when you insert a standard USB in the main menu it says connected, but when you connect a phone in mtp, ptpt or charging with a variety of phone settings it does not recognise it at all. Any thoughts?

I'm using Oneplus3 , but unfortunately Suzuki Vitara only support MirrorLink and Carplay..

Just tried in our Suzuki Baleno.
Mirrorlink is working with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S8.
Would be nice if we could find a way to hack the firmware like the firmware from Pioneer, ok this is just an iGO hack but it would be cool if we could boot into recovery or something.
Maybe someone will find a way to open up the Suzuki SLDA.

I just got my hands on the Vitara but some said Android auto should work but.... nothing. I also hope that the update is going to be on all the models.

I ordered an Suz ignis model Select without navigation, but it can be installed afterwards, it needs only the software.
Is it possible to install an other navigation instead of that from Suz.

I've just got a newsletter from my local Suzuki dealer with a list over new accessories for newer Suzuki models.
There's listed a new Android based navigation unit for Ignis, Baleno and Celerio!
Anyone got more info on this? And/or if it's an software or hardware upgrade?

To me it looks more like an upgrade for the cheapest models which do not have an infotainment system yet.
It is the same unit as in the select intro and style intro hier in holland as introduction of the ignis.

I was thinking maybe try and update my head-unit.
I have a European one.
EDIT: No luck.
Maybe someone more familiar with Linux can do something about it.
It look different from the 850 SLDA update

I am no Developer.
But since the new headunit is same as the old one.
Android Auto is supported in the new one, cant we just extract the software from the new device and use it in the new one.

Yes. Just Suzuki will be provided upgrade.
I asked Bosch to share it and there is Bosch answer:
There is different versions of the multimedia system on the market, and Suzuki decides market-specific which version with which software release is offered. Furthermore, Suzuki wants to keep the customer communication with Suzuki.
I can only recommend to ask your local Suzuki dealer for a central hotline contact that should be able to help.

I'm working on getting my LM-V500N rooted, but I'm seeing little hope that I will be able to accomplish this. I am not a talented wizard by any stretch of the imagination, so hoping for me to be the one seems folly.
But at least one person is working on it.
Another avenue that should be pursued is venturing into the SK side of the internet to see if they have had any luck or made any progress on that side of the pond. The population of Korean Varient V50 owners is obviously going to be much higher over there. It has occurred to me that they could very well already have a root method and bootloader unlock for the N Varient that we are simply unaware of because of the language insulation. I haven't looked. But the bounty might be ripe for the taking.

On google.co.kr the top result for "LG V50 root" is this subforum. That's about all I got when it comes to browsing the Korean internet. If anyone knows Korean though that's a great idea Dathaniel

We are quite a few on Korean model, but as soon as we unlock and TWRP will work, count on me for a $50 donation. I also will throw another $50 for working common.dll and lgup for crossflashing to European or other stock firmwares. Also 100$ for root/bootloader unlock. I thought I'd give T-Mobile support one more try... 3rd time lucky ? I reached some one who knows their stuff.
They pushed the update to my R805U a few minutes ago.
The update worked smoothly, busy applying the new Bixby update... Then I'll take a look around and checkout the new stuff.
However, I have no idea why the Wearable App would not get the update initially.

Hi guys, got the lemonadep from OP's pop-up in China. Wondering if the current full OTA packages would work over 9008. I know I should just go and try out myself. But I asked their service center and they said they haven't received anything that works with 9 series yet. So I think that means if I brick it I'd have to wait for at least three days...

If you unlock bootloader, you should be able to flash images manually.

We have to wait for unbrick tool for safety...

Yes I did, I went to their local service center and asked them to do me a favor. They have a new tool for phones come with colorOS and the full OTA for AA variant. I have also asked an OP engineer and he told me there will be tutorials and tools available for transitioning from colorOS to OOS. But I guess they need some more time to release those as later in the day other people who went there were told that the full OTA may cause you loss IMEI info. I have also asked an OP engineer and he told me there will be tutorials and tools available for transitioning from colorOS to OOS. But I guess they need some more time to release those as later in the day other people who went there were told that the full OTA may cause you loss IMEI info. Which city did you visit the service center in? Are they freely willing to help update it on the spot or does it take a while?

Nanjing, they were freely willing to at least when I went there. Because I was the first one who asked the transition so it took them sometime to find the right tool and package. The actual flashing is like 5 minutes. But later other people who went to the exact service center said they are explicitly told not to flash 9&9pro because of "serious bugs".

I went to another store in Shanghai, which is not an OP store, but they sell OP products and the salesperson there said it is probably going to take a couple weeks and then you can switch over.
Interestingly, the colorOS has an option to use Google accounts built into the ColorOS. But of course, it doesn't work without the VEPP...

Can you please post on here if you're able to get it done without hassles and if you did it yourself or went to a service spot.

I'm confused. It's a chinese communist party modified version of Oxygen OS, which is going to be filled with spyware, hence he wouldn't want it. Everything I said is accurate. My bad for not elaborating.

Yo, just saying, oneplus is a Chinese brand. ColorOS, OOS, HOS are all managed by oneplus. I assume all of them are "CCP" roms. Why don't you just buy a samsung or apple instead of dealing with a Chinese brand if you have this much prejustice inside of you. Pretty ironic isn't it.
